Just recently played Slovene version of Monopoly with field of castle Bogenšperg in it and since I was here very long time ago, the decision was made to visit this medieval castle and read some famous stories about it. Sadly the coffee was closed, but the exhibition was opened. In winer the castle is very cold and exhibition inside is not heated. Fortunately there is some original interior.
The Renaissance Bogenšperk Castle is located in the municipality of Šmartno pri Litiji, on the ridge of Strmec nad Dvorom. The castle has been beautifully restored and there is much to see, although I do not recommend visiting the inside because it is almost empty unless you are interested in history of the family, but outside for the nature and peace. Due to its history, it is one of the most important cultural and historical monuments in Slovenia. It is a cultural monument of national importance and a venue for many cultural events from exhibitions to weddings. The last noble owners of the castle were the Windischgrätz family. They were forced to leave the castle in 1943, and the interior furniture was destroyed or blown up in the interwar period. After World War II, the castle housed a military hospital. The building fell into disrepair because it was completely looted. In 1949, the Jesuits moved into such a building for 15 years, and they managed to restore it only enough to prevent further deterioration. In 1972, a systematic restoration of the castle began. A monument to Valvasor was erected in front of the entrance to the castle.
Located near Litija, it is a beautifully restored Renaissance castle once home to scholar Valvasor. Its exhibits on history, printing, and culture are well-presented, and the peaceful forest setting makes it ideal for a short trip. A charming mix of history and nature, perfect for a relaxed visit.
Bogenšperk Castle is a 16th-century castle located in the Municipality of Šmartno pri Litiji in central Slovenia. It is best known for its association with the 17th-century scientist and natural historian Johann Weikhard von Valvasor, a fellow of the Royal Society in London
It's a very nice small castle worth visiting. Staff is friendly and helpful and they'll make sure you have a good time. Just one small thing - we were visiting on the weekend and there was a wedding happening so you might want to check that before visiting.
Underrated castle in a small town not far from Ljubljana. The castle is pretty There is a bar to sit and chill also a good trail. Only the location that locates in a small town so if just only come here for a castle would not that worth travelling time.
We were visiting castle for the concert. It is in amazing atmosphere. Don't know if they offering daily food, castle is more know for the wading ceremony and in summer concert.
Nice place to visit. Very friendly staff at entrance. History of Slovenia.

One of if not the most demanding adventure park trails in Slovenia. For beginners as well. Beautiful part of Slovenia.
Beautiful resort in the middle of central Slovenian forests . many interesting devices to perform adrenaline activities. Zipline is 900 m long and variety of different Levels of needed Skills. Anyhow, nice surprise, I deeply recommend visit to GEOSS! Within Facility it is a nice cafe! Even in summer when hot shadow enables pleasant temperatures
There are a lot of options if you' re an adult or child above 10, but for younger children there aren't too many. Even though, it was a great experience and children had a lot of fun. We tried yellow (above 4 years), green (above 6 years) and blue ( above 10 years). 8 year old son tried blue without problems and wanted the red one also. My husband tried the red one and finished it a little bit pale 🤣.
Loved the park, specially the experience of spending the night at the treetop. It is really special, very relaxing. We enjoyed a dinner picnic by a fire and the we headed for our accommodation 15m above the ground. Beautiful. We then started the new day watching sunrise and having a wonderful breakfast in the heights. I strongly recommend it! My 9 year old twins were enthusiastic!
Great place if you are an adventurer. It is a place suitable for kids and adults. Park is in the forest so I recommend visit it when is hot outside. Stuff is helpful and they always keep an eye on you. Safety first 👊
Great experience it's actually quite difficult. You will get sweaty palms even if you're used to heights, and it's not expensive.
Inventive idea with full service picknicking (food&wine delivery, blankets etc.) (collect woods to tinder and keep your own fire) - dining in the meadow and spending the night on a tree (matresses, blankets, fly nets, torch are provided). Breakfast is waiting for you in a basket hoisted up in the tree top right to your bedroom 😊. Special experience...
Amazing huge park, great experience and very helpfull and friendly staff :) Suitable for everybody, it's a must visit :)
