We spent a really lovely day here. So many things to see - the photos do not do it justice. A fascinating glimpse into a bygone era. The exhibits have been lovingly assembled and the work put into creating this museum is stunning to see. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
This will take you back to olden days and you will wonder really of how shops were. Good for adults and kids both. Beautiful chapel, flowing river, lots of well maintained greenery and some old photos attached with every ancient machine/place.
We spent about three hours in this museum village and felt like traveling back in time. It was nice to see lots of scenes representing people at work, school, bar or church. Great to bring children they have lots of things to discover. Dinner can be served but only on reservation. Souvenirs shop also available. Worth a visit if you are in Calais area and you want something different. Enjoyed!
Absolutely delightful. We spent about four hours here on a lovely, sunny, day with a five year old. Our grandaughter loved seeing all the old workshops and really got in the spirit of this replica village, revisiting the little windmill more than once. The tiny church is beautiful, the lady running it that day was polite and attentive, it really is worth a visit, if we are in the area again I'm sure we will go back
A cute stop on our way home to England. There were plenty of interesting things to see set in the 1900's. Very accessible for young children and some fun activities to do along the walk around the exhibition's. There is also a lovely church depicting the Easter story which was quite fitting as we visited just after Easter Monday.
What a delightful, quirky little "village". This was a lovely way to spend a few hours. There's a nice, homely cafe and a lovely giftshop at the entrance and we were given a warm welcome by the ticket lady who very helpfully spoke English to us! The place is set out in different areas, with a farrier/blacksmith's workshop, a windmill with workshop, a shoemaker's, an automotive repair shop, a 60's/70's section, a photographer's , a schoolroom and many more areas filled with period items such as tools and other interesting antiquities and toys. There's a lovely garden with a chapel in it too. There's something of interest for all ages and it seems that there are activities to engage children (no children in our party and the activities were in French) Although the info was in French, it didn't spoil our enjoyment - it was interesting to see the huge collection of items (large and small) that had been curated here. Reasonable priced and there's a generous parking area.
Tickets a bit pricey for what is offered inside, the grounds are quite small and didn’t look particularly well maintained. The thing that I really struggled with is the chickens and rabbits confined in pens just outside the terrace seatings. The rabbits’ water bowls looked dirty - some looked empty covered with hay and the other one had quite a lot of fur on the water. The grey rabbit, while I stood there for 10-15 mins observing, was constantly grooming and pulling her/his hair. I’m not sure why the small animals were kept there but they looked a bit sad.
My parents and my son went to hike with me there from another village, when I just about to pay the tickets I found I lost my wallet. Can happen that I left in the car which was 4km away. I let my parents and son stay there and wanted to go back myself to my car. The very nice host lady heard about it, and just took her car key and said I drive you back. I was so frustrated that I could have lost my wallet and have to go back on foot to the car. She just gave me such help that I was so impressed at that time. Immediately she drove me to my car and I found my wallet there. I want to say thank you so much for the great help. It might be a small thing for you but you can’t imagine how stressed I was when I couldn’t find my wallet. I am not a big fun of museum but this museum is really amazing that I couldn’t stop looking all the collections one by one and want to explain everything to my son. Fantastic experience, such nice lady and such wonderful museum. Worth to see in any case and you will not regret!!!

If you have an hour or two to spare before heading back to the Eurotunnel and you have kids, you couldn't find a much better place for them to have fun and learn a little history along the way. There's lots of hands on things for kids to do from dressing up in viking costumes or as Henry VIII to playing old style games.
Good for an hour stop before the tunnel
End of our holiday, camped up and stumbled upon this place and it looked shut. Had a go at the door and what a little gem of a place to while away a couple of hours. Couldn't buy an aperol spritz for what they charged entrance fee. Fantastic staff put our fresh cake in the fridge while we did the tour. Interesting for kids and adults alike. History of Guines from viking times Kept us entertained while we wait for tunnel crossing tomorrow.
This was a very interesting trip! Not a very big place but the kids loved getting hands on and trying on the outfits and playing the games! The boat was fab too
I'm not even sure if I want to give it 4 stars, it should be 5, and it's not management's fault. But with the corona rules in place we couldn't touch the items we could have. They have interesting and in-depth information useful to my history-buff partner and enough child friendly activities for my active 3.5 year old.
A great little town museum. Very friendly welcome in English. Interesting exhibits on the Field of the Cloth of Gold and a great video/film on the Viking origins of the town
A lovely museum with great presentations and friendly staff. The longboat 'journey' is worth the entrance on its own and my daughters enjoyed the experience and finding out some local history. Highly recommended
The good: Fun place to visit, also with kids. Dress up in medieval clothes and playing old games is cool. Very helpful and friendly staff (which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 3). The bad: not a lot of stuff to see. Some games, a documentary film, walking around the the tower, 10 minutes of looking at old clothes and weapons and that's it. You could probably do it in under an hour. Still, if you're near and have kids, worth a visit

Really great ropes course! Terrifying and s bit fend for yourself but really enjoyed it. First experience
Very nice, especially the baby course for the little ones!
Super parcour d'acrobranche
(Translated by Google) The children's course (5-10 years old) is very nice. Our two boys aged 5 and 6 really enjoyed it. We would have liked a slightly warmer welcome. We will go back there anyway. An additional sign to indicate the location would be ideal.

Friendly and helpful. They even made a phone call for me to book an activity. They speak English. There’s a nice playground outside.
Very helpful staff. Thank you.
(Translated by Google) We stopped for a family picnic, the space behind the tourist office is very well laid out, there are picnic tables, a playground, barbecues, goats, a garden where is possible to buy organic vegetables, we had a pleasant time! (Translated by Google) If the Guines forest is superb there are also very beautiful walks to take from Hermelinghen. Today we discovered the Colombier trail which follows a pretty sunken path lined with very colorful hedges for a while, then we can continue on to Mont Galien which offers a nice view.
(Translated by Google) Following our visit to the Maison des Deux-Caps, we made a short detour to Guînes to connect to the wi-fi for a few moments. Very pleasant contact with the hostess, who recommended the organic vegetables grown just behind the tourist office (very nice experience). :-) (Original) Suite à notre passage à la maison des Deux-Caps, nous avons fait un petit détour par Guînes afin de nous connecter quelques instants au wi-fi.
