A long uphill walk to get there but the views on the way are amazing. Wear trainers or boots as it can be pretty rough going. Walked from campsite so about 6km each way. You can drive to it but where's the fun in that!!!! Good info at the site. We did it on 28 Dec and it was hot going so don't attempt this climb in summer would be my advice!.
Such a cool trail, first by a little narrow road, then a short hike through the woods. Truly a fantastic story behind this Templar bastion. Make sure you know its history to understand the true pathos of the Moorish village below. Highly recommend!
The Templar Castle ruin of Xivert delivered above our expectations. Although it is a ruin, much has been preserved and the history behind it is intriguing. The views are fantastic and there are pleasant and easily walkable trails in the surrounding hills. A note of caution, however. The castle is accessible by car on a rickety and narrow road with large pot holes in some places. We visited on a beautiful November day when only one other visitor could be seen. The place was quite deserted, though not closed to visitors. We thus had the access road to ourselves. I found the road far too narrow had we met any cars. This might pose a problem during peak season. It is possible to hike up the mountain trails to the castle, however.
A beautiful Templar castle located on a hill with breathtaking panoramic views of both the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The walk up to the castle takes around 30–40 minutes and is a bit of a workout, but totally worth it. The trail is well-marked, and along the way you’ll pass through natural landscapes with aromatic herbs and scenic vistas. The ruins are well-preserved, especially the outer walls and some interior sections. Informational signs in both Spanish and English help visitors understand the historical context and the daily life that once existed within the fortress. It’s a peaceful and non-commercialized site, perfect for a quiet trip away from the crowds. Make sure to bring water, sturdy shoes, and a camera – the views are truly stunning. Highly recommended for history lovers, families with adventurous kids, and anyone looking to explore a hidden gem in the Castellón region.
Really nice place with a great hike and a cool castle view, but there were 2 main disadvantages: Lack of shade (at the castle and if you hike up the road) and an abundance of ticks. During the hike my family and I found numerous ticks on our clothes (for me, 2 on my socks, and various scattered on my family's clothes. Even multiple hours afterward there were ticks, and it was pretty scary. So all in all, nice castle and hike but lots of bugs and little shade. Bug spray + lots of water recommended.
Historically important and worth visiting. Unfortunately, cultural heritage isn't kept well, therefore, it is important to appreciate these places. Hopefully, something will change and efforts will be put into preservation of medieval and even much older times as a reminder of where it all came from.
Steep off road ride up to the castle ruins. Well signed and displays detailing history of castle. Great views. Worth the detour
Very nice Beautiful refreshing breeze

The church is open for services on a Sunday at 8.30 and 11.30, and at 19.00 weekday evenings. The church is only open for visiting at the moment for about 30 minutes before the service. The bell tower is open Wednesday to Sunday between 10.00 and 15.00. The church is beautiful inside and well worth a visit, and you get great views from the top of the bell tower.
We didn't find opening hours and this beautiful very old church was closed when we were there. It would be nice to go back and see it inside.
Closed at time of visit, midweek, tsk already! 😦 ...impressive place all the same.
(Translated by Google) Pretty church from the outside, we were not able to visit the inside as it was closed. We were able to climb the tower next to it which gives us a very nice view of the surrounding area. The climb is free 213 steps to go up. If you're careful there are stairs that take you all the way to the top of the bell towers.
(Translated by Google) Mixed opinion because on the way back from the castle we wanted to visit this church that we saw from afar but when we arrived at 1:30 p.m. everything was closed....so YES I know that in Spain the shops closed from 1:30 p.m. to 4 or 5 p.m. but frankly the church could remained open even the tourist office was closed....the village did not please us.....

Now, I still think the same thing, three years of trying to contact them both by phone and in person and they are not able to solve my problems/doubts. Without a doubt, THEY ARE NOT RESOLUTIVE AT ALL. Furthermore, from my point of view, they make decisions related to public roads, which are shameful. I hope that in a while I can write a review again with a slightly better message. (Original) Hace tres años escribí una reseña diciendo que no contestaba cuando llamas. (Translated by Google) Dog beach. We decided to go sightseeing close to home this summer. So we set off towards Alcossebre. On the way to the hotel we saw a lagoon near the sea that we fell in love with, so we put it on our wish list for the next day. What was our surprise that once settled with the children (and after an altercation with a dog owner) they informed us that it is a “dog beach.” So very bad Alcalá-Alcossebre, Vecinos de Capicorb, Sol del Riu, Ayuntament d'alcalá de Xivert. Signs are put up to tell us what type of beach it is. But if I read this sign (attached) that is at the entrance “small semi-submerged Delta” etc. I would like to go in and see it. And I would continue appealing to balance, tolerance, prudence and respect towards animals, neighbors and vacationers but simply that we are all informed what it is about. So if you have dogs this is your place. Not recommended for children without dogs as they are loose without a muzzle. (Original) Playa canina.
