Directly on Bahnwanderweg track. Nice view of Kalte Rine Viadukt and Poleroswand. One sees trains from above. Good coffie and kind owners. We didn't visit the museum, but the place alone is worth a stop for drink and view.
Small but richly packed with memorabilia, information boards and photos of Ghega's career and the building of the Semmering railway. There's also a model railway and probably well over a hundred books that can be consulted. The next-door café run by the same couple in charge of the museum, serves some tasty home-made cooking, the "eggs" (similar to omelette) is particularly delicious after a little hike.
ACHTUNG! WARNING! Nice view and friendly service. They are a bit sneaky though as they were bubbling up a cauldron in a fairytale setting. Like the wicked witch in snow white, they charge an unexpected 8€ for the goulash. Most other things on the menu were 1-2€. Would have been four stars without this. #readyourfairytales
Excellent insight into Ghega and the building of Semmering railway. Enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable guide/owner
(Translated by Google) We haven't seen the museum yet, but we would like to visit it. We arrive with our Albanian language school, (about 30 people), from Italy (Padua), on May 4, 2025, around 11.00-11.30 am. I would like to know please if the museum is open, given that on the website it is written that it opens on May 3rd. Thank you very much. Grazie mille.
(Translated by Google) Today I headed to Semmering from Vienna, by train, the aim was to visit a small village in the Austrian hinterland and visit the well-known Ghega Museum. First of all, we easily purchased the tickets at the Central Stacion in Vienna which you can reach by metro. Cost €38 each return. Duration approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Very clean train and top service. The view is very nice but accustomed to Alpine landscapes nothing new except that I admired them sitting comfortably on the train and it's not bad! Once we arrived in Semmering we walked for a few hours before understanding which was the right route to reach the museum but by then time was limited and we didn't reach it in time. I strongly advise you to follow the yellow sign shown in the attached photos (bahnoff Breitenstein), even if it doesn't say "museum" but the direction is right. Luckily the walk still gave us magnificent views and it was still a success. Too bad for the museum though... remember to sit on the left side of the train to enjoy a better view. However, the tour is recommended. Costo 38€ a testa andata e ritorno. Durata 1ora e 15 min circa. Treno pulitissimo e sevizio top. Comunque tour consigliato.

(Translated by Google) The ruins fit in positively with the landscape. Since no entry is allowed, you only have rather homogeneous and less spectacular hiking trails in the immediate vicinity of the ruins. We wouldn't have gone if we knew it would be kept away from the public!
