Nice place for kids to learn about the iron, stone and bronze age and how people lived there, worked and their customs.
It was Monday when we vistas and it was closed but fortunately there are spots open and accessible to see.
It is lovely, nice history. I enjoyed going down the memory lane at the century houses than the huge hunebed i had actually gone to see hehe.
Nice couple of hours to spend with the children. The inside museum has some activities for the little ones (not too little though). Outside are some old style house from bronze/iron ages with people inside showing of tools of that time. Note that the D27 dolmen (hunebed) is outside of the center.
Beautiful location and lots to learn about the history. Very friendly atmosphere and people
It is very informative about the rocks dated back from prehistoric times. They also have interactive games for children to really have fun while learning.

Last week in visited the hunebedden D27 in Borger. These are the largest hunebeds in the Netherlands. When you are in the north of the Netherlands than these are a must see. Most of the time hunebeds are alone. But hunebed D27 are a coupe hunebeds side by side. This side also have a small museum where you can find more information about the hunebeds. This is especially fine for children. You can also see other smaller stones which with a sign so you can see were the stone original came from. You can park your car next to the side for free. The side is also ease to accessible for bikes. These is also a small restaurant on the side where you can order a drink and some sandwiches. You don’t need to pay for the side only for the museum.
Great, large Hunebed worth a visit. Even though the visitor center was closed due to Covid there is still plenty enough to see to spend about half an hour here.
One of a kind! One of the best places in the NL, feel refreshed and peaceful here - Tips for public transport: Take a train to Assen and take QBuzz 24 from Assen bus station (every 1 hour, a small bus with 8 seaters), stop at Borger (Centrum) and just 12 mins walking to the amazing Hunebed! -Getting around: Roam at the beautiful village in Borger, Hunebed Centrum, Geopark, and Prehistoric Park. If you love cycling, you can visit other Hunebed within 3km from D27 -Accomodation: if you like camping, you can bring your tent and enjoy Borger Camping! -F&B: you can easily find restaurants and shops at Borger Centrum or enjoy the museum cafe at Hunebed Centrum
Definitely worth the experience. Unfortunately, the museum was closed due to COVID measures, but we will come back for sure.
Unfortunately the day i went there is bad weather 🤣 and the museum still closed because of corona situation.
Amazing to see the oldest monuments in The Netherlands

I did not go dolmen hunting, these happened to be right next to where we stayed. It's a twin set of dolmen, set in a nice little grove offset from the road. Very tranquil and nice and you'd almost feel one with nature and time.
These stones are accessible by a short pathway from the main road. The stones themselves are very interesting. its just a bit dicey pulling into a tiny parking spot on a busy main road. Better than the Hunebeden Centre though.
Wow. What a fabulous structure. Really really interesting
Interesting..... The early Europe...
(Translated by Google) For years I have been talking about visiting this place, because a few times a year we are doing work on the event site on the other side of the road. Last weekend I came by road and went there. A really nice spot, then drove to the Hunebed Center in Borger. Highly recommended to visit.
