I stopped by Fort La Latte for a short visit—it’s well worth a quick detour. Perched dramatically on a rocky promontory above the sea, the site offers breathtaking 360° views of the Emerald Coast and Bay of Saint-Malo. The medieval architecture—with its drawbridges, ramparts, and keep—is visually striking, even if you don’t explore every corner. Ideal if you’re looking for a stunning photo opportunity and a taste of Brittany’s coastal history.
Very impressive castle on a beautiful coast! It has been beautifully preserved and restored. Informative signage all around. Amazing views on the coastline and sea. Lot of parking available with a short walk down to the castle entrance.
I've seen a lot of castles, not much different here. I'd really love a tour of the owners rooms that apparently live on site. Also very impressed with the number of movies filmed here! Took photos of the movie read mes for later translation. Wish they had also been written in English. Might improve on that.
A mediaeval castle like no other. Well worth the visit and do climb to the top of the tower for fantastic views. You can just imagine what it must have been like back in the day as approaching marauder made menacing moves to take over your Keep...
Really well restored coastal fort. Well worth a visit.
On July 31, 2025, we visited the impressive Château de la Roche Goyon, better known as Fort la Latte, located on the rugged coast of Plévenon in Brittany. Built around 1340, this medieval fortress sits dramatically atop a rocky cliff overlooking the Bay of Saint-Malo, near Cap Fréhel. The fort itself is a mighty structure made of grey-pink sandstone, complete with thick walls, sturdy towers, a portcullis, and even a furnace once used to heat cannonballs red-hot. Inside, you'll find old weapons and breathtaking views of the sea. Admittedly, with an entrance fee of €31 (for 2 adults and 2 children), it's not the cheapest outing—and to be honest, you’ve seen most of it within an hour. That said, the fort is excellently preserved and has served as the backdrop for more than 20 films, which comes as no surprise.
worth visiting - perhaps better than cap frehel. carefull as admition closes 30min before closiing
Excellent and very worthwhile to see. Be warned there is a walk to get there downhill. Also, for those who don't like heights, it might be a challenge. The Fort is incredibly well kept and amazing views over the bay and sea. The gardens were also very pretty.
