Excellent museum. Very nice collection. No English plaques but you do get an audio guide, which provides very good information. The museum is also special because of the great number and quality of reconstructed items, not just original remains. You can get a great sense of the life in ancient times. The museum store is also well-supplied, though I wish for more English books and publications.
The exhibition hall is a bit more sparse than the size of the building implies. Apparently one of the old central draws (a gold treasure hoard) was stolen a few years back too. Nevertheless, I think this museum had informative content and some interesting local artefacts. The audio guide is worth it and helped contextualize many pieces. It is harder to find a museum with a Celtic focus than a Roman one; if you are particularly interested in Celts this museum will impress, while if you were looking forward to Roman history this museum may not be so stand-out.
A very nice small museum covering Celtic and Roman history in this area. Beautiful presentation, friendly staff, and they have audio guides in English.
Had fun, I liked the temporary exposition on the romans, they had an audio guide for english speakers, which was easy to use.
Very nicely presented in display cases and open rooms, with animated movies. Large halls, good explanations, interesting artefacts. You are can even play dress up as a Roman.
really lovelly place to go. some ancient history and wonderfull picknickplace at the riverside.
Museum of one of Germany's most important archaeological sites. The Iron Age town of Manching was enormous, covering 360 hectares and enclosed by a massive 'murus Gallicus' wall 7km perimeter. Much of the site has been destroyed by an airport in the 1930s and the present town but archaeological excavations have revealed the outlines of buildings, workshops and temples in parts of the site. This was one of the most important towns in northern Europe in the last four centuries BC. The exhibition is beautifully set out but more as an art museum than an as an interpretation of the fascinating archaeology. Good models though. Also the well preserved remains of two Roman patrol boats. Worth visiting the ramparts of Iron Age Manching too.
It could be a nice museum but part of it is closed so you see not much for a lot of money.

The museum has a great collecting of still flying (!) Messerschmitt airplanes. It's free of charge but one has to register in advance as it's inside a working Airbus Defense and Space factory. Also, only citizens of ~NATO countries are allowed. The tour was in German but a guide was speaking English as well. The tours are happening something like once a month.
The Messerschmitt Museum in Manching is truly one of a kind and absolutely worth seeing if you’re in the area. However, visiting can be tricky: despite being listed as “open 24 hours,” it is almost never actually open to the public. Unfortunately, the online reservation system is also offline, making it impossible to book a visit in advance. In the past, it was at least possible to register up to a day ahead, with guided tours usually offered on the last Friday of each month, but that no longer seems to be the case. Hopefully, the planes are in better shape than the website.
Definitely worth a visit! Nice collection and the signs in front of them are in both German and English.
Achtung! Messerschmitt! Small but fun museum lovingly tended by knowledgeable curators/engineers. (Working) replicas of more famous pieces are on display but attention should be given to earlier pieces. There is a real attempt to tell the historical story and the wider developments in flight through Herr Messerschmitt's career. The workshop ambience really shows you that this is a living restoration/history (note the stripped down engine blocks), not a stuffy static display.
A must for all aviation lovers, a great collection of pieces of engineering and art in flying condition. A more than worthy tribute to the genius of Willy Messerschmitt.
What an amazing place and Airbus are to be congratulated on preserving their rich history in aviation. Wonderful collection a privilege to have been able to visit.
I was working at AIRBUS so got the opportunity to visit. Very interesting aeroplane museum. Only open on a Wednesday.
Incredible place! All aircrafts in this museum have authorization to fly, have flown and will fly again ! What a beautiful heritage !
