This is a great museum
(Translated by Google) We were simply amazed, and at times even irritated, by how people were punished and tortured in the past. Especially since some torture methods are still used today 😱 They also document criminal cases that require some nerves of steel.
(Translated by Google) Very comprehensive and informative. Dress warmly; there's no air conditioning. The Crime Museum is very well presented; I found it fascinating. The Gendarmerie Museum, with its murders, crimes, etc., is worth a second visit; there's almost too much information for one visit. Definitely worth a visit!
(Translated by Google) Not for the faint of heart. Highly interesting for anyone interested in history, crime, etc. Great exhibits, and the stories and explanations behind them will send shivers down your spine... I've been there twice, and you always see something new. Not really suitable for children, I'd say.
(Translated by Google) A very beautiful building (especially if you look up every now and then, it's magnificent). We received a warm welcome and a brief explanation. We were allowed to grab a blanket for the building's basement. It was indeed a bit chilly in there, but with over 30 degrees Celsius outside, I loved it! I noticed that there were so many objects from the past. Every conceivable instrument of torture and punishment was present. Everything is described in German, which was a shame, but with Google Translate (take a photo and scan it) you can get a long way. There's also a great section about the police from the past to the present, and also various cases that have been solved with sometimes rather gruesome evidence (from the past to the present). Highly recommended! There was no card payment option, so only cash. It might be useful to know this beforehand.
(Translated by Google) If you are interested in history, there are not many places where the cruelty of this time is documented.
(Translated by Google) This museum is almost a must-see if you're in the area. It's very comprehensive and informative.

Worth going up. An amazing experience, especially including swimming in the little stream when you go down, the magically refreshing mountain water, such fresh air and silence. Beautiful ruins on the mountain near Scharnstein. The parking lot is the closest, from here you can walk down a steep path using stairs in half an hour. Nice to see the remains of 1202 and you also have a beautiful view of the immediate surroundings. At the foot of the climb, you can fill up on water or get a bottle of beer or soft drink from a water keg for a fee. An adventurous hike with a beautiful end point. We went back the same way because the forest path was much longer in our eyes.
Great viewpoint at an old ruin after a 35 minute steep walk with stairs most of the way.
Great hike and amazing view and payoff. Be sure to see the upper tower as well as the vault. Only a small hike from the main ruins
Omg so beautiful!!!!!!! Totally worth the climb. Amazing experience, especially including a swim in the little stream when coming down, magically refreshing mountain waters, such clean air and silence.
Very nice hike and view when it’s not cloudy. All recommendations to visit
Nice place. It is free. If you are in the area you definetly should visit it. Parking is also free and there are multiple treks around.
Tiresome to get up to but worth it. Walking sticks/poles help and lot
Lovely family hike, no crowds.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting documentation about the importance of making scythes in the past. The show forging with original hammer mill takes you even deeper into this industrial heyday.
(Translated by Google) The Geyerhammer Scythe Museum in Scharnstein im Almtal is an institution worth seeing. It is located directly on the picturesque Alpine pasture. In this former scythe factory, the working conditions and working methods of the time are presented to those interested. Wonderful people volunteer here to serve living history.
(Translated by Google) Impressive presentation of the history of scythe production in all its facets. Worth seeing video from 1987 (before production finally stopped) with the individual processing steps. Beautifully designed display boards and illustrative objects showing the different shapes of scythes and the numerous countries to which the scythes were exported. Also know information about the social environment of production - right down to the living situation and a workers' strike. Every first Saturday of the month there is a show forging where you can experience all of this. Special exhibitions e.g. 'Hunderwasser's Paradise' (July 4th - August 16th, 2020) with photos by Erika Schmied. Sonderausstellungen z.B. ‚Hunderwassers Paradiese‘ (4.7.-16.8.2020) mit Fotos von Erika Schmied.

(Translated by Google) Going to the museum on a hot summer day? It was wonderfully cool in the old walls right by the river. Since my ancestors were among the “black counts” and we only mow our garden with a scythe, a visit to the museum was a given. One of the hammers was renewed in 2009 and is actually powered by hydropower. I was allowed to operate the lever that starts the water wheel myself.
(Translated by Google) Very nice little museum. Since there were no other guests there, we were given a small private tour. The gentleman was able to convey it so well that it was really interesting. The final gastronomy recommendation was also great! It's definitely worth a visit!!!
(Translated by Google) Museum worth seeing, historically very interesting. Located directly on the Alpine river. Can be combined with a short hike to the Scharnstein ruins with a view of the beautiful Almtal and/or a visit to the Scharnstein Crime Museum. (Original) Sehenswertes Museum, historisch sehr interessant.
(Translated by Google) A piece of history, a museum that brings the life and work of our ancestors back to life and reminds us of our ancestors. With this Geyerhammer it is possible to get an idea of how people, our ancestors, used to live. Who of our children still knows how to mow with a scythe? It is also a piece of closeness to nature, back then people still knew how to work with the power of nature without destroying it. A big thank you to the people who preserve such valuable relics for posterity and thereby allow us to experience history up close today.
