The only way to experience the Fens is to be there. Take time. As long as you can. The new RSPB hides are a stunning addition to this special part of the world, very reminisicent of those Mayan temples that overlooked a mysterious and ancient, long-forgotten civilisation. The Fens. They're that as well, part of a tale as old as time.
The disabled access trail was closed due to maintenance so it was very difficult on rough grass. The birds are best viewed with a telescope as they are quite a distance away. The staff were very helpful. The terrain was steep.
RSPB Ouse Washes has level-access hides which look out across the washes, the rivers and the farmland beyond. There is a car park with toilets and a small visitor centre. The setting is stunning and it is a real oasis of bird life. We saw a rare night heron and a Merlin within a few minutes.
Had to go here for work took ten minutes to enjoy the surroundings. Nature at its finest. Only downside is the road here it's not very car friendly especially if it's low.
New hides erected last year with beautiful views over the Washes. Approaching roads not great however so take care! Toilets closed when I went.
This was our 1st visit and we weren't disappointed. Excellent visitor centre with lots of birds to see on the feeders. It was our first time seeing a Redpoll and Reed Bunting. The hides looking over the Washes were lovely. A really pleasant visit.
Lovely place with fantastic views and interesting walks. When the conditions are right (high water) the hides place you right in the midst of some varied wildlife.
Took our 8year old and even though it rained whilst there, we loved seeing the different birds and will be going back

A lovely museum! Small but packed with so much to see and read and the children's trail kept my 10 year old and 8 year occupied for a good 45 mins as not an easy trail. Well worth a visit and staff were friendly and chatty ☺
Very helpful and welcoming. A very interesting, clean and well kept museum. Thank you.
Great things they have on shows
Such a gem. Wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable volunteers.
Lots of fascinating things in this little museum. Well worth a visit.
Went to a very interesting talk by the curator. The museum contains some unusual and rare items.
Quite possibly the best museum in Cambridgeshire Family friendly and the staff are brilliant
It is full of interesting historical items and facts. A great place to visit.

This has closed down sadly! I went here a few years ago. Amazing place. Been trying to book to go again and now had an automated email response saying it has permanently closed. Such a shame as it was a wonderful insight into armed policing.
An amazing place, a great museum and a wonderful insight into life as a Firearms officer. Lots of interactive things to do, incredible genuine exhibits that you will never see anywhere else.
Very interesting, thought provoking subject of armed English policing Lots of exhibits and both Historic and present day. I learnt a lot.. You need to book in advance.
Appointment essential. Highly recomended. Gives even higher regard for those police that are armed. It is fascinating and frightening in similar proportions. Note the opening times.
Excellent insight into the history of armed policing and present day equipment. Well worth the three hours spent there!!
Really enjoyable day out. Very knowledgable staff and a worthy cause
