can keep coming back and never get tired of this place! more worth it if you stay the night. keep in mind to go in summer. a little rain or too much wind can easily cancel boats from sailing to the island. walk the island end to end to see both sandbars. cheaper if you DIY. tents and loungers are available for rent on the island. great place to snorkel as well. keep within sight of people of the lifeguard.
My first island visit and it did not let me down. We rented a charter boat to take us here. Brought out own lunch and rented one of the huts on the island. The water was a nice super clear and clean and the sand bar was visible that day.The island is peaceful and never felt overcrowded, making it perfect for those looking to escape the hustle of city life. Whether you're swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, or just relaxing under the palm trees, there’s a sense of calm and serenity that's hard to describe. What stood out most was how well-preserved the island is—credit to the locals and caretakers who clearly take pride in keeping it clean and sustainable. We brought our own food for a beach picnic and left only footprints, which added to the authentic island experience. If you're planning a trip to the Philippines, don’t miss Kalanggaman. It’s truly a hidden gem that deserves all the praise it gets!
Wonderful magic island. I stay oneday trip and also stay overnight. To find out the whole sandbank in low tide is amazing. The cristalclear warm water is perfect to spend a lot time o enjoy. Bring your own foods, fruits and water. Safe your food ,if you stay overnight, cause there is a nighttime visitor.
Kalanggaman Island perfect for overnight. The island is peaceful and never felt overcrowded, making it perfect for those looking to escape the hustle of city life. Paradise!
The sand here is whiter than the other island I've been to. I did not manage to see the long sand bar just a half of it since it appeared only in late afternoon. I only had a day tour on the island. I enjoyed exploring the island alone. Hehe.
Kalanggaman Island is absolutely stunning! The white sand, crystal-clear waters, and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature. The long sandbar is a must-see — great for photos and a relaxing walk. Boats are organized, and the locals are friendly. Don’t forget to bring your own food and water. One visit is definitely not enough — I’ll be back for sure! 🌊🏝️
Kalanggaman Island is easily one of the most beautiful small islands with a sandbar that I’ve visited so far. It features pristine white sand, crystal-clear waters, and is a great spot for diving and snorkeling. The famous sandbar only appears during low tide, so it’s best to plan your trip accordingly—locals are quick to advise timing your visit just right. While there’s a small store on the island for basic food, most tour packages already include lunch. Just make sure to bring your own drinking water, as fresh water is limited on the island. Overnight stays are possible, but be aware that your return depends on boat availability. If there are no boats scheduled, you might end up waiting until a tour boat from Cebu arrives. There are designated snorkeling areas, but exercise caution—currents near the sandbar can be quite strong. If you're lucky, you might even spot dolphins swimming between Malapascua and Kalanggaman, which is a magical bonus to the trip. Overall, Kalanggaman is a must-visit destination—just come prepared and time your trip well for the best experience.
Incredible island and beautifully well kept by locals, definitely recommend a boat trip here. Clearest water I’ve ever seen, make sure you walk to both ends of the island. The end where the boats don’t go is a great spot for snorkelling.

The iconic San Juanico Bridge, the longest bridge in the Philippines, gracefully connects the islands of Samar and Leyte.
Update Sadly, the SJB are currently on heavy traffic due to the mv’s loaded of 3tons and up are not allowed to cross along. Plan ahead your trip, avoid unnecessary trips. Not the right time.
🌉 San Juanico Bridge 📍 Connects Tacloban City, Leyte & Santa Rita, Samar, Philippines ✨ Known as the longest bridge in the Philippines, San Juanico Bridge stretches 2.16 kilometers across the San Juanico Strait, linking the islands of Leyte and Samar. Its iconic arch-shaped design and scenic views make it one of the country’s most photographed landmarks. A true engineering marvel, it’s also called the “Bridge of Love,” as it was said to be a gift of former President Ferdinand Marcos to First Lady Imelda Marcos, who hails from Leyte. 💕 🌟 What to See & Do 🚶 Walk Across the Bridge – Feel the thrill of crossing the country’s longest bridge. 📸 Photography Spot – Capture stunning views of the San Juanico Strait, sunrise, and sunset. 🌊 Boat Tours – Some locals offer boat rides under the bridge for a unique perspective. 💡 Light Show at Night – The bridge glows with colorful LED lights, giving it a magical vibe. 🅿️ Parking Area 🚗 Parking is available near both ends of the bridge, but space is limited. Visitors usually park nearby and walk part of the bridge. 🌟 What to Expect Breathtaking panoramic views of the San Juanico Strait 🌅 A romantic and iconic landmark for couples 💑 Cool sea breeze perfect for sightseeing 🌬️ A must-visit stop when touring Leyte and Samar San Juanico Bridge is not just a structure—it’s a symbol of connection, love, and progress. Whether you’re there for the history, the view, or the thrill of crossing the Philippines’ longest bridge, it’s an unforgettable experience you shouldn’t miss when visiting Eastern Visayas. #SanJuanicoBridge #Leyte #Samar #EasternVisayas #PhilippinesTravel #BridgeOfLove #LongestBridgePH #TravelLeyte #TravelSamar
Nothing to rave about. The area is inhospitable to foreigners which makes the bridge that much less worthy of getting any attention. Just a stupid bridge in a stupid area. Oh, and I was scammed by the woman beside me in the picture. Waste of time effort and money to go there to just be taken advantage of when you only ever had good intentions. I will never go back there.
Beautiful truss-design bridge that lights up at night after dusk. There was no prominent viewing area promoted but we found one (see the pic)...you have to go down a road that runs next to the bridge (on the opposite side to the Polytechnic) that takes you to an area where you cross back under the bridge and along a walk way (see pic). The viewing area is really nice and right on the water, making for a great view of the bridge as the sun goes down. We were told there was a light show of different colours and spotlights but the bridge just stayed the same colour (purple) the entire time we were there so didn't see any light show.
Constructed during the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos through Japanese Official Development Assistance loans, it has a total length of 2.16 kilometers (1.34 mi)—the second longest bridge spanning a body of seawater in the Philippines after the Cebu-Cordova Bridge. It was also the longest bridge in the Philippines upon its opening in 1973, surpassed in 1976 by Candaba Viaduct of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), another bridge that connects from one province to another, connecting the provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan. Its longest length is a steel girder viaduct built on reinforced concrete piers, and its main span is of an arch-shaped truss design.
We crossed the bridge both in the daylight and nighttime to have a better look and experience of this great structure. I suggest you should also pass by it by night as it has better visuals with its colorful lights and you can pose for more photos as it’s less crowded compared in the morning. Just be cautious on passing vehicles and be reminded to be fast for cars are not allowed to stay for too long.
Review as of March 2024 San Juanico Bridge runs over 2100m long over the San Juanico Strait. It is the 2nd longest bridge in the Philippines which connects Leyte and Samar. The view around is spectacular if you have a chance to slowly drive to appreciate the horizon.

We recently revisited this place in 2024, and overall, there haven’t been many changes compared to our visit six years ago. Here’s what I observed: What I Liked Rich Historical Value: This location remains a great place to visit for anyone interested in history. Its significance and stories continue to make it a meaningful destination. Final Thoughts Despite the lack of noticeable changes over the years, this is still a wonderful place to visit, especially for those who appreciate historical landmarks. It’s a timeless destination that’s worth recommending to others!
Was here in 2017 and it has declined tremendously. The ground floor was soaked in flood water in last year's typhoon and it has damaged so many of the rooms, furniture and walls. The 2nd floor was also damaged by strong winds and broke windows, curtains rails etc. There is a fee of 200 per person for a guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the items in the shrine and the best places to take photos. It was surprising to know that the Marcos family has never stayed at this house. Imelda Marcos built this to store her items, mostly were given as "gifts " by world leaders. It's sad that this property is not being taken cared of well.
This is a sequestered Marcos family mansion turned into a museum. The design is very lavish, with most of the decorations being imported or gifted. Guided tours are available daily from 8 am to 5 pm at Php 150/adult.
A trip to Tacloban will not be complete without visiting the Santo Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum or the Romualdez mansion. In here one would learn to appreciate the beautiful taste of Imelda Marcos or for others frown at the extravagant way of life. The Chinese vases and porcelain , ivory artifacts, religious items are of high quality and with stickers of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) which meant they were part of the assets seized after the Edsa revolution. I just wonder though if we have updated appraisal of the value of everything inside including several Malang paintings that were part of the artworks displayed in the rooms inside the museum. The Malang paintings were no longer in display but I saw them in 2019. Per the volunteer tour guide the Malangs were put in the storage during the pandemic. For a minimal fee of 150 per person this is a good deal. One may also opt to have a tour guide which I found better than going on our own since the guide will be able to give insider info on some historical tidbits like it was there where George Hamilton danced with Imelda Marcos. Highly recommended when in Tacloban especially for lovers of antiquity and student of history. #museum #SantoNinoShrine #ImeldaMarcos #chineseporcelain #whenInTacloban P.S. some of the photo captions were generated through the use of google lens.
This is basically a "showroom" of Imelda Marcos. The tour guide said the Marcos family never lived here. There are more than 20 rooms. This is currently managed by an NGO and still controlled by PCGG. The entrance fee is P150 per person. However, the showroom is very dusty and lacks proper maintenance. Visiting this place, triggers a lot of opinions and questions in our minds.
I initially thought this place was a shrine, but it is actually a museum of Marcos’ wealth with an altar inside. During our visit, we paid a 150-peso entrance fee and were immediately assigned a guide. We passed by the altar, and the guide highlighted rooms with different motifs. The furniture collection is quite impressive, as they came from different parts of the world. The museum is spacious, and the hallways are well-maintained, but the rooms, especially on the ground floor, need restoration. Overall, we left impressed and might recommend it to our friends visiting Tacloban.
very nice experience. the tour guide was very helpful and has explained every parts of the museum. P150 entrance for adults
It's the first time I visited the place and I must say that I'm thankful I went there. You won't regret going there if you're up for old and historical stuff.

It was pouring when we visited and there was ongoing construction in one area but still a beautiful memorial. I appreciate the signs and mini history lessons. The park is huge and well maintained. It has enough parking across the street, has a security guard and everything is clean.
The park partly under renovation. Very well maintain , clean. Police visibility are there, you can feel history . Picture take any where, any angle you wanted

Good educational experience. Can't imagine the force to push that thing ashore, Yolanda must have really been something else. Unique to visit! Word to the wise, the bathrooms located in the back are not kept up at all! Enter at your own risk!
The M/V Eva Jocelyn ship had set sail from Basey, Samar, and was swept ashore by storm surges caused by the super typhoon Yolanda. It washed up in Barangay Anibong, Tacloban City, Leyte. The ship was made a memorial and renamed to commemorate of the victims.
We didn't really get to experience the Yolanda personally. We merely saw the tremendous effect of the super typhoon in the news. This place reminds us of how we need to value life and thank God for His protection.
Intresting sight to see when one is in Tacloban City and to learn about Super Typhoon Yolanda.
This Shipwreck in Tacloban stands as a solemn yet inspiring landmark, a lasting reminder of the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Yolanda, the lives lost, and the unwavering resilience of the people who rose from the tragedy.
Sad story but the Filipino resilience has prevailed, this is a memorial of the ship that end up in the road push by 6 metres waves and wind of 370klm
Review as of March 2024 The people of Tacloban did the right thing making the shipwreck into a monument as a reminder how disastrous a typhoon can get. Not much to do here other than take photos. There are also no restaurants nor museums to make the visit last longer than a few minutes.
The place is accessible since its by the road and there's no entrance fee to enter the place. This is already portion of the entire ship that was washed ashore during the landfall of Yolanda Typhoon. If you stand from the shrine and you look behind you'll see how far the ship wss from the sea! It's chilling cause you'll then realize how many people were killed during that time.

Dense forest surrounds this 148-hectare lake, a scenic national park that draws nature enthusiasts.

Review as of March 2024 This attraction has magnificent views of mountains enclosing a massive lake. The place feels, smells and looks fresh due to very few visitors. After paying an environmental fee of P50, we tried two ways to enter the lake- the first was less visited while the second one had a store where you can ask the vendors to cook locally harvested plants and clams.
Nice man-made nature trail leading up to the lake for pictures. *We did sight seeing and pictures only
Great adventure…. Accommodating staff…. Sir Ewan of DENR Ormoc city
This is a very nice spot, you should visit it, when you are in Ormoc city. There are some spots at the lake where you can go down, we decide to drive with our car to the end of the road. There is a silent nice spot with floating cottages and you can swim also here.
Lake danao well know for is guitare formed lake IS now protected natural area. Good to look at and take a picnic beside (no water activity allowed now)
i do really love this place..me and my gf went here and while were on our way to this lake, we were captivated with the green sceneries..it was quiet a long ride but once you get there it'll be all worth it..a must-try for adventure seekers! another place to add on your bucket list..
Its a calming place. Lake that is very deep so be watch out. Going there is so refreshing and the weather is around 19C to 20C. Its like going to Baguio, enjoy the coldness of the mountain, see Lot of lily and other flower sights. We went there around 3pm and came at nearly 4pm, we enjoy the sunset , the food and the calm water of the lake. Ormoc City to lake danao - 1hr Balsa /hr - 150 Tricycle - 1000 for 2 pax Pack meals - 150 Pako - 70 Shell tahab - 100 (crispy or sisig) so good Tricycle driver

Small island with white-sand beaches, coral reefs for snorkelers, fishing spots & a lighthouse.
Slide 1 of 8
Locals were very friendly. Sea urchins are abundant here which people would collect and eat on the rocks near the shore. There is an area with shallow waters which is beautiful as you can see the sand underneath. There is also a protected area where swimming and fishing are not allowed and you will see live corals just by the beachside.
If you need a place to relax, just visit the island. So calm and peaceful. The view is picturesque. Very recommendable.
Not a place for foreigners, the toilet facilities are very basic, at best, the room we hired had an ants nest in the bathroom, it was supposed to be good for 8 but only had 4 single bunk beds, the power was turned off at midnight, so the fan wasn't able to work after then,so it was too uncomfortable to sleep. The only food available was local fare, dried fish etc ,the only plus was you could buy bottled beer, and water.
Comfort rooms should be improved and they should have strict compliance for proper disposal of trash or garbage. However, it is not crowded, peaceful and quiet. I would love to go back.
Actually, I wanted to put 5 stars but I must say the LGU under of Canigao Island can do more to make the Island zero waste of plastics, trash and educate tourists, locals, guests how they can keep this beautiful Island clean and preserve. All of us have a responsibility. I tried to take a swim at night but the rocks are hard to step on so need to wear water shoes. There's a lot of jellyfish also so I got scared swimming but I love how peaceful at night and great to do camping here. Bathroom and water facilities needs improvement. I was here with my cousin and her daughter. You can buy fish and sea shells here you can ask them also to cook for you. It's good to bring your own food. It's kinda expensive to buy the prices are too high. You can rent or bring your own tent. Everything here is rented even the space where you want to put your tent. Fact check: the LGU OF MATALOM LEYTE just done a clean up drive of the Island. Thank you to the LGU!! Good job po!!
The place was clean, peaceful. Good place to relax ❤️ Fare is affordable, the beach is clean and not so deep. Market was available in the island. Water sports are available too.
Small but very beautiful dream island. Small Sari-Sari shops available. Of course, there is also a lot going on on the island. There is also a banana boat and jet ski. Short boat trip from the mainland.
Purely white sand with crystal clear water. Over night stay is highy recommended. You can bring your own tent without fees and also you can camp anywhere if you dont like to rent a cottage. Try Canigao Island for affordable and relaxing getaway. Hopefully ma maintain and mapreserve ang natural beauty ani na island for the next ff years.

Remote island, marine sanctuary & dive site with scenic, grass-covered terrain & turquoise coves.
Slide 1 of 8
Of all the beaches in Samar and Leyte (Region 8), this island/beach is among the top of the top. one word to describe: Pristine Crystal clear waters, rocky beach, Grassy Mountain. View: IMMACULATE. A once in a lifetime experience.
Sambawan Island, Maripipi has a stark, mountainous coastline and a spectacular sunrise, a stunningly beautiful view, which will surely melt your heart. Viewed from a distance, Sambawan island with its towering rocks; is a series of interconnecting stony islets. It has two main islands and the rocky terrain is covered with grass. Along the shore lines, Talisay trees are being planted. Sambawan island is a marine sanctuary and a popular dive site. It has an extensive wealth of marine life, good visibility and corals that are in good condition. Turtles, sea snakes and reef sharks are also found there often. Current is mild and suitable for all range of divers. A watch tower is built at the highest point to give the tourists unencumbered view of the entire island. It serves as viewdeck to witness the spectacular sunrise and the glorious sunset. Both, which can surely melt your heart.
The trip is worth it! It's about 45minutes from the port of Kawayan, Biliran. The waters aren't that rough so the trip isn't tiring. The fares though is a bit pricey but the destination is worth it. The waters are so clear that you can see the sea floor even without goggles on and it isn't too salty so it won't sting your eyes much. The view from the hilltop is spectacular! The locals are nice, too. If you'll be heading there best to bring your own food, a butane so you can cook your food on your own without too much hassle. You can grill, too. The sand is mostly seashells and dead corals so it's rough on the soles. Also the sea bed is rocky so be prepared with some aquatic shoes if you have a pair. I forgot to bring mine on the trip so it was a bit of a challebge but it was tolerable. They have cottages already unlike before and they have a gen set that is turned on by 6pm and then off by 10pm.
Really Nice Island. Can arrive from Maripipi or Kawayan in both check boat prices and try to be group to have cheaper price. Entre fee 100 Rent tent 300 To put own tent have to pay 100 pesos No have good place to eat, just beef corn. Sardines tins. Expensive price. Better bring drinks and food. If you do the teekking for all the island you will see rubish. They only take care of a part of the island.
Sambawan Island is a very beautiful place. A place that is peace and calming which I find interesting. Come and visit now
One of the country's gem. Truly breathtaking. Getting there is not quiet easy due to the limited mode of public transportation especially on boat. As a solo traveler, I've rented a boat for 2,000 pesos (usual rate is 2.5k) going to the island from Kawayan Port, the nearest port in Biliran. Travel time is approximately 45 minutes and a 100 pesos environmental fee. The island offers a picturesque view and the feeling of isolation from the hustle and bustle life.
Roughly about 6 hours from Kalanggaman Island is another chunk of paradise with a million dollar view. Sambawan Island in Biliran boasts of its mountainous coastline with an easy trail going up the view deck. On the other side of the island you will see a gentle giant - a dormant volcano called Mount Maripipi. More of my Sambawan Island experience on enjayneer.com.

The place has so much potential — it’s very lovely and has a warm, homey feel. When we first visited for an ocular inspection, I instantly fell in love with it. However, our actual stay was quite disappointing due to poor service. When we arrived, there was no one at the front desk to assist us. There was also a blackout, and we were expecting to be able to order food for dinner (as we were informed during our visit that meals would be available), but unfortunately, nothing was available, so we had to eat outside. When we returned, the peaceful and homey ambiance turned into a chaotic party scene — a group was partying loudly at the pool area. To make things worse, the bathrooms had no water, and we had to fetch water from the pool just to use the toilet. For the price we paid, the service definitely didn’t meet expectations. The place itself is undeniably beautiful, but the lack of basic services and cleanliness, like the untidy dining area the next morning, made our stay frustrating. I truly hope they can improve these areas, because the place really has great potential.
A resort at a beautiful place, has so much potential! The staff was very accommodating and welcoming, definitely made the stay mich more enjoyable! The owner is super resourceful, helped us tremenduously! The rooms were dark, damp and not very clean The resort is hard to come to and from - far from the town and getting a tricicle can take up to 30min. Also the town doesn't rent any form of transportation. We booked a whale shark watching. Went two days in a row, but could only see one shark's back from the boat. But that is understable, not the fault of the crew whatsoever. Although the tour itself could be improved.
Our stay at this “resort” was a major disappointment. The building is old, dilapidated, and practically abandoned. The rooms are basic with many flaws, and the wifi is usually not working. The pool pump was broken during our stay; according to the staff, it has only been out of order for 2 days, but I have my doubts when you consider the state of the pool. The beach is littered with trash and there are no beach chairs to sit on. There is nothing to eat at the resort, and if you want a drink you have to search for staff—and often there aren’t enough drinks available. So if you want something to eat, you have to leave the resort, and since the accommodation is located at the end of a long road, you constantly have to ask the staff to arrange a taxi. You absolutely cannot call this a resort. The prices are excessively high, and even the cost of a simple breakfast is far too expensive. Diane, one of the staff members, was the highlight; she was incredibly kind and helpful.
The place is truly unique, I find it old yet precious and elegant, something not everyone may appreciate, but those with a keen eye for design, like me, will. The resort is very peaceful, which is a big plus for someone like me who enjoys a quiet environment it’s very relaxing. Their exclusive seaside area is also well maintained. Sitting there while watching the sea breeze is such a calming experience, made even better because access is limited only to checked-in guests, ensuring privacy. I will definitely come back here, bring my family and friends, and recommend it to others. The owner and the lady in charge are also very kind, helpful, and accommodating. To the business owner, I hope you continue running this resort and keep it open for us to enjoy. Thank you, and more power!
The castle resort is a decent resort. The lobby looks okay and there are several tables for a restaurant layout. The food served there was fine, nothing special. We got some Rice with fried chicken or shrimps. The pool looks nice and the quality is fine. Also the room is fine, nothing special. There are ants in the bathroom, tv didn’t work, ac will stop working from time to time, warm water is very limited, wifi didn’t work in the room, only lobby and even there it didn’t work great. Bed was fine, sheets had stains in them. But it’s the Philippines so we are fine with it. The only problem is the price-quality comparison. This resort is way too expensive. We payed 750 pesos for some pieces of fried chicken and rice, like seriously? We have never seen anything like this in this country, never. The room like I said was just fine but mediocre and the breakfast was tasty, but for 3900 pesos per night? That’s WAY too expensive. This hotel offers a great whale shark experience tour, we had the best time and saw amazing wale sharks. For that reason I would definitely go on this trip with them. But to get your moneys worth for the hotel? No, you might want to try other hotels.
Pros: great location at the tip of southern Leyte, good service, food was pretty good (we were unsure based on previous reviews) Cons: while understandable that the property is old and can be difficult to maintain due to high costs, the least the resort could do is update their linens, towels, AC, and other basics. Seemed like they were just trying to save costs by using the same old linens and towels. We went on a whale shark tour with them but didn’t see any (understandably it’s not guaranteed to spot one because they are wild animals) but the tour was from 8 am to 4 pm and we were 7 guests + 4 guides/operators crammed into 1 tiny boat. We couldn’t stand up in the boat, cannot walk around- that’s how tiny the boat was. No washroom either. We were told to go into the ocean by the side of the boat to pee. Unacceptable for how long the tour was and how expensive it is. Compared to the Padres Burgos Castle resort boat, the other boat that was from another resort was much larger with a washroom and seemed to have better amenities. Shows how padre Burgos resort was just trying to save costs at every step. Would not recommend as there are other resorts in the nearby areas with better rooms and better whale shark tour boats.
This used to be our favorite hotel in Southern Leyte, but it’s disappointing to see how the place has been neglected. The hotel is dirty, with lots of spider webs in the dining area. We have fond memories of staying here, so it’s sad to see that they haven’t maintained it.
Very poor service. You cannot use all their ammenities even if you check - in. Place is refreshing but to sum it up, it's very disappointing. You can't even have a free hot water. It's charged! 🤣

A nice and budget place where families can enjoy without spending too much. Although the beach is not white, the sand is fine. Perfect for those who are nature lover and in the budget. Cottages cost from P350 to P500 depending on the size and kind of cottage you will rent. Most of the cottages are just few meters away from the shoreline.
The facilities were fine but the beach not really. But if you want a cheap place to enjoy the sea the beach is good enough to those who have a minimal budget.
Good size cottages at 350php. Separate free changing area. A fee of 5/10php for the CR depending on usage.
It's okay there are many kiosks to accommodate groups who would like to enjoy eating then go swimming .
budget friendly beach cottages for rent. Dark grey sand. can do beach fishing
good to speed sunrise and quick deep. sand is brown. there is a deep well to wash.
I just have been there this early in the morning I only give 4 stars because there are Jelly fish in there
Sadly spoiled by the new sea defence wall being built right across many fine beaches.

The place has a police checkpoint, ensuring safety for the passersby and tourists. It has also comfort rooms on the other side of the bridge. It offers an astonishing view of the bridge and engineering marvel.
We were there Sunday march 29. A spectacular view. We walked the bridge. The only tourist facility was toilets. No zipline or food or drinks.
Wonderful engineering feat, remarkable landscapes and a fantastic photo opportunity. Recommended if you visiting southern Leyte or Leyte.
Agas-agas Bridge is the tallest bridge in the Philippines so I was happy to see and cross it. It's a well-maintained 2 lane concrete bridge. Looking down is a bit scary. There's a DPWH office on the other side of the bridge with huge parking lot. You can park your vehicle and walk the bridge if you want. There's also a sari-sari store and clean toilet.
Agas-Agas Bridge 📍 Brgy. Kahupian, Sogod, Southern Leyte, Philippines Also known as the tallest bridge in the Philippines, the Agas-Agas Bridge stands 89 meters (approximately 292 feet) above ground and spans about 350 meters across the rugged mountains of Southern Leyte. Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and completed in 2009, it was designed to replace a landslide-prone stretch of the Pan-Philippine Highway—ensuring safer passage and reducing travel delays. Highlights & Attractions Engineering marvel: A prestressed concrete bridge featuring two piers soaring 73 and 75 meters high, respectively. Breathtaking vantage points: Designated viewing decks, a tourist pavilion, parking areas, and food kiosks offer accessible, scenic rest stops for travelers. Thrill-seeker’s haven: It hosts one of the country’s longest ziplines—Zipline Leyte—stretching about 880 meters above the gorge below. While other extreme activities like bungee jumping or rappelling have been proposed, the zipline remains the main draw as of now. Scenic stopover: Aside from its functional purpose, it's become a popular tourist attraction offering unparalleled views across verdant ravines and serene skies. Getting There By land: Accessible via the Pan-Philippine Highway (Maharlika Highway). From Tacloban City, expect roughly a 3-hour drive, or about 1.5 hours from Maasin City. By public transport: From Tacloban or Maasin, take a van bound for Sogod, asking to be dropped off near Mahaplag Crossing. A tricycle or habal-habal can take you the remaining 30 minutes to the bridge. Fares range from ₱100–₱300 depending on your starting point. Visitor Experiences & Sentiment The viewing decks and pavilion provide the perfect break from long road trips—offering rest, fresh mountain air, and unforgettable scenery. Travelers often describe the experience as equal parts awe-inspiring and peaceful, ideal for reflection or photos. Safety updates: Some sources suggest the zipline may not always be operational, so it's good to check locally before planning around it. The Agas-Agas Bridge is more than just a piece of infrastructure—it’s a testament to human ingenuity, a scenic highlight, and a newfound haven for adventure. Whether you're crossing the bridge en route to deeper Leyte, or making it a stop of its own, the panoramic landscapes and invigorating heights will leave a lasting impression. If you're a traveler who delights in both tranquility and adrenaline, this should be on your Southern Leyte itinerary. #AgasAgasBridge #PhilippinesTallestBridge #SouthernLeyte #LeyteAdventures #ZiplineLeyte #PanPhilippineHighway #TravelVisayas #EngineeringMarvel
a really nice place to rest and take photos after hours of driving. ❤️
Bridge easy to find with no waiting time, spectacular view.
Can't say Anything bad at this bridge 🌉 There is restroom 🚻 and sari sari store before the bridge.. We appreciate the kindness of the police and military officer at the post near the bridge too.. While walking the bridge looking the Mountain like a painting 🎨 moving around your eyes.. Love everything I see Love the fresh air The sounds of river underneath is relaxing us well.

We came to visit only for their event this april. It is such a dreamy school for someone who isnt from here (cebu). Huge grounds, lots of facilities available for the courses they offer. I would want to enroll here.
Scenic university with nice sea/beach for relaxation, specially after stress from studies.
My alma mater it's nice to visit again and again.
I graduated here but I rated 4 stars only. The fact that employees in this institution are quite competitive, some just dont deserved to be in here. Anyway, it's a very scenic university and I took thousands of photos in here already. I love how this university provides instruction and really a place conducive for learning. Hope for a change specifically in the admin people.
This is my home away from home. For me,this is one of the most excellent schools in the Philippines. The landscaping is beautifully done, teachers, school staff, students are strongly advised to love the environment which coincides with the school's vision. Fronting the university is a beach (marine sanctuary) that you can freely enjoy. It has lots of other amenities too. Various food stalls and cafeterias are available anywhere which is absolutely affordable.
Just got there for my workshop, the University campus is just like University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB). The campus have upland to lowland and sea for terrain. The area is clean and well maintained facilities. There has a lot of dormitories for men and women, complete sports field (tennis, basketball, football soccer, volley ball et. al.), and lodge and inn for guest and visitors.
We have great time. Greeny area and cool breeze. Great place to sit down for writing and doing brainy project or just day dreaming. The people are friendly and helpful
For more than 20 decades, I've seen VSU constantly evolve and become better than it was before. It's a great place for the youth to pursue their studies in, but it will require hardwork and perseverance to succeed. You will always want to come back here, VSU your home away from home.

The island offers a variety of attractions, including historical landmarks such as the cross and the site of the first mass, as well as natural beauty such as beaches and mountains for hiking enthusiasts.
Scenic place and rich in history.
You can tour the whole of this beautiful island in just one day. If you don't have your own means of transportation, tricycles for hire are always on hand. For a minimal fee, you can avail of transportation with a tour guide thrown in for free! The tricycle drivers are very friendly and you guessed it - they'll be your tour guides.😆 Best to come to this island in the summer months, March to May as the seas are calmer during those months.
Limasawa is awesome. The Sunday boat trips can use some improvement especially it's when tourists would to back home and it's during Sundays when trips aren't regular.
Scenic place one of the clearest beach waters I’ve been to.
Very nice place stress free .fresh air ,foods. People in the island are very hospitable.Historical Place 1st Mass in d Philippines❤👍👏
A single trip with a double purpose. An island full of history and strange beauty of nature. For a negotiable price, hmmm at a good price I must say, you will be toured to different places. So be sure you are at a good condition to tour it all. From climbing, trekking, riding and swimming. I salute to the habal-habal drivers for they are so approachable and friendly. You are in a good hands with them.
Pick up trash and dispose them properly. Keep Philippines clean and beautiful.

Great place and great food. If you are visiting Tacloban and want a restaurant that is laid back with great food and nice views, this is the place to go.
Quiet place to have a hearty lunch with friends. Serves traditional Filipino fare and some local specialties. Verdant surroundings and a gentle breeze makes you sleepy after lunch. Damaged during Typhoon Yolanda, they still need to repair some areas though, but definitely a worthwhile visit when you are in Tacloban City.
A restaurant in the middle of a gorgeous farm. Fresh air and nice view. Worth a visit.
this is such a beautiful place and my beautiful scenery, it is visited by Philippine tourists from different countries of our world because of its beauty and the fact that the expensive food is still light on the pocket, you have nothing to look for, let's go already. headcook #mark tampi messiah
My wife surprised me today and took me here with her family. After taking a few photos we decided to have some dinner. The menu they presented to us needed some improvement. WOW the food they served to us was amazing. The chief must be from a high profile resort because I haven't had this quailty of food in years. Good Job
Brought my family here last Saturday, 26 August 2017, The place is relaxing and perfect for people seeking peace and quiet to escape from the deadlines and stress brought about by the daily struggles in work and business. The food is extraordinary which is quite a welcome surprise for I expected to taste food of this quality in posh restaurants in the big cities . Definitely coming back soon.
The place is far yet worth it. Very quiet and the restaurant has a nice interior. The menu has variety of choices and delicious. The place is good for relaxing with your family and loved ones.
Food choices are limited but delicious and savory. Quite a distance about 30 mins from Tacloban by car. Limited commuter vehicles to/from Rafael's
