Johanna's Grille

$$$$affordable
Barbecue restaurant
Restaurant
Johanna's Grille is a popular restaurant located in the heart of Batangas City, known for its signature dishes that capture the essence of Filipino flavors. The menu features must-try items like the Adobo Supreme and delicious baby back ribs. While the ambience exudes an old Hispanic charm with modern touches, some suggest updating it to a more modern style. Despite this, patrons appreciate the affordable and tasty food, along with refreshing beverages and delightful desserts.
Serving size is very generous, and the food is delicious, especially for the price they offer. We recommend passing by when you visit Batangas City.
Kenneth G — Google review
The night we dined had been quite the peaceful, serene atmosphere, and the food was amazing! Had me going for more!
Kurt O — Google review
A quaint place to have brunch with a lot of people. They serve one of the best baby back ribs in Batangas City. Can be a bit hot when afternoon arrives. The location. Situated at the heart of Batangas City. The parking tho is a bit small The food. The baby back ribs is a must try. PS: they should update the place to be more of a modern style. I always see this place has less customers as time goes by. But they have delicious food.
Marlon M — Google review
Food is affordable and very tasty. The ambience is very old Hispanic with touch of modernity thru the trinkets of toys from past. It is quite hot due to no airconditioning the restaurant is open window . Points for improvements is airconditioning. Food service also needs improvement because it is quite slow.
Adel T — Google review
Spacious open air venues with good food, gently five star since the water glasses were much larger than everywhere else I’ve ever seen here. I freaking love that so much. Although I did not see shakes on the menu and really wanted a shake. Here are some pics of the menu.
Matt H — Google review
I love the nachos! it's the best nachos I've ever tasted so far. As for the baby backribs, for me it's just a normal pig meat nothing so special.
Jessa M — Google review
Need to satisfy your cravings for a good, delicious and juicy steak? Johanna's got it for you. Food is great. Tasty. Affordable. Place is quite hot but it depends on the weather. Cool displays inside the dining hall. Staffs are well accommodating. Experience is great. Satisfied to what they can offer.
Jed G — Google review
We tried their Baby Back Ribs, Sisig Dinuguan, Kalderetang Kambing, Sizzling Bangus, Baked Tahong, Lengua and Turon. They were okay. Nothing exceptional, though. The place was clean and service was quick. They just need to improve the cooking.

Food is good, everything is good! The atmosphere is so nice, and relaxing thanks to that water fountain at the front area. And they have airconditioned room too? Count me in.
Paul F — Google review
Spacious area and long menu selection. Taste of the food could be better. Order took a long time but they warned us beforehand. This restaurant is a safe choice for tourists and motorists visiting Batangas who want Filipino comfort food
Annalyn Z — Google review
A very good restaurant to go for Filipino foods. Has Alfresco Dining with kubo or nipa huts available for you to dine in. Have air conditioned area available also. Their food are very delicious. From appetizers to main course to desserts. A lot of choices to choose from. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating. Parking spaces are available and wheel chair accessible. Try it when you pass by the area.
SHARE T — Google review
This is your typical filipino casual restaurant. I like the food especially the Crispy Kare Kare. The place is okay, spacious and there is a Air Conditioned area. Service, in fairness they gave us a heads up 45 minutes for service time yet the servers needs a lot pf follow up for simple request asking for extra utensils. If you like seafood and filipino dishes and time is not an issue I recommend to try it here.
Domingo B — Google review
Butch seafood and grill is a large restaurant that specializes in fried seafood and grilled pork and chicken. It's got an al fresco section as well as an indoor al fresco section and an indoor air conditioned section for large groups. The food here is good and priced well but the wait staff are a bit inefficient and forgetful. We had to remind them several times for our plates in our large party. The other side of the table was already halfway through their food and we have yet to get our dining plates. They also got confused with the iced tea and they don't really take note of who ordered what and will just put the plates down on the table and let the diners sort themselves out which in my opinion is bad service. It's laziness on the part of the server or they just can't be bothered to remember. It's my 4th time to eat here and i feel each time I come back, the service is getting worse. I hope they improve on their service.
Richard F — Google review
The restaurant is good for family feast! We ordered for the family meal which is good for 16 to 20 pax and it did! They have a generous space for large group and a function hall for special events. Though I did not taste all the food, i think it was good based on the feedback from my family.
IT’S N — Google review
Ambience is fresh and spacious. Food is legit Batangueño. Servings is huge and packed. Service is polite and fast. Definitely the one of the best in the area. Good for big crowd.
Michael ( — Google review
Food is expensive compared to the taste. Service is not great. I had already finished my lunch but the drinks were not yet ready. Parking is okay. No AC at the front. Not sure if they have at the back.

Hidden gem in batangas city near the diversion road. Has a rustic beach vibe and well taken cared of. They have a broad menu, specializing in German and Filipino food. Bathrooms are clean too.
Cosmic G — Google review
Nice place hidden away in Batangas, with good food, friendly service and loads of seating areas. Went on a weekday lunchtime so it was completely empty, but the food was very good and tasted authentic. Service was also very friendly.
Rohan M — Google review
Not your typical kubo restaurant as this is like a local pub. Food is german and a must try when here in Batangas.
John S — Google review
The place is nice and cozy. Like a palaisdaan with outdoor cubo for its individual tables. Good place for drinking and eating small plates. But don't be fooled by the term small plates. Their serving size is bug, good for 3-4 people. The meat in all their dishes are hard though. Explains the knives in the utensil set. But the fried potatoes are really good! Perfect flavors and every bite is perfectly crunchy 😋
Maysheen T — Google review
Need some dining place updating. Food is ok, service is very good. Owner is very friendly!

F. Baylosis Crispy Pata & Chicken

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Batangas City, F. Baylosis Crispy Pata & Chicken is a culinary gem that specializes in mouthwatering Filipino dishes. Known for its signature crispy pata, this restaurant offers a delightful experience for food lovers seeking authentic flavors. The menu also features an array of other popular dishes, making it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors alike. With its inviting atmosphere and delectable offerings, F.
Food was good. It was better before. The squid we ordered was a bit rubbery. Pansit was good just lacking with veggies and it only has 1 piece of crispy pork. Place needs update and repairs. Some fixtures were falling apart. Faux leather seats are peeling off a bit so not comfy when wearing shorts or skirt. I hope they fix this. It was a good place to eat before.
Claud R — Google review
I want to share some feedback regarding my family's recent visit to your restaurant, which is usually our go-to place for celebrations because of your excellent food and ambiance. A while ago, on my mother's birthday, she chose to celebrate by having lunch at your restaurant. As I couldn't be there, I kindly requested your team to surprise her by singing a birthday song. I followed up politely via message while they were still at the restaurant, hoping to make the moment special for her. However, despite my father also making the same request, I was saddened to learn that no one took the time to fulfill this simple gesture. My father ended up singing for her himself, which was touching but not what we had hoped for. The explanation given was that the team was too busy. This was a significant moment for my mother, and she chose your restaurant for her special day. It would have only taken 5–10 minutes to make her feel celebrated. Unfortunately, this lack of attention left us disappointed. I hope you can consider this feedback to improve the experience for other guests who choose your restaurant for their memorable occasions.

It is not just the home of the best bulalo. They also have the best pinakbet. Servings are very generous. The staff are very attentive and giving service with genuine smiles. The place is very relaxing and cozy. It is a perfect place for family gathering.
Wither S — Google review
foods are good and plenty of them enough for the group dine. service are good as well, best part is they have a free park just besides them. sands floor are comfortable to stand or walking, just a slightly expensive of the price.
Banananaa A — Google review
Foods are plenty, enough for a group meal. The space is nice too as this is an Alfresco restaurant. What I love most is the bulalo, their bulalo is the best bulalo I've tasted in Batangas so far. Service is nice too. Overall, we had a sumptuous meal during our visit.
Jessa M — Google review
Been here several times and will always be because of their lomi which is quite of a serving (good for 2 to 3). Sarap na babalik-balikan. Tara lomi tayo! There many choices of foods as well plus a good ambiance whether indoor or outdoor with acoustic band every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Jeff V — Google review
Quite a hidden gem in Batangas City. Nice and serene, a perfect place for a nice lunch. Loved their Crispy Pata, rivalling other Manila based restaurants. Pinakbet was a winner by my book as well. Mobile and data connection is spotty at best, and there was no wi-fi at the time. Cash only as the credit card machine was not working. Attentive and smiling staff, so this is a positive. An entertainer plays his guitar at lunch, so it adds to the cool vibe of the place. Will definitely come back soon. Try it as well!
Jessie J — Google review
I tried their Crispy Pata on Karekare sauce and "Sikreto ni Milan" dessert. Pata was a bit hard to eat, chewey and hard (I don't recommend for people wearing dentures) but it was saved by the sauce. Good serving although they say it's good for sharing, I finished it alone. It's mote bones than meat. The dessert was good. It's vanilla icecream, mango, coco, pinipig and graham balls (sorry for revealing the secret 😬). The staff was nice. Though their restroom is not well-maintained. No soap and tissue. I'll definitely return for the dessert lol Edit: Terrible service. The food arrived after more than an hour. LOTS OF MOSQUITOES. The food I tried this time (sisig and bulalo) was ok.

Irene's Bulalo sa Kubo

Mentioned on
1 list
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Batangas City, 'Irene's Bulalo sa Kubo' is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of Filipino cuisine. This charming eatery offers a cozy atmosphere where visitors can savor traditional dishes, particularly its renowned bulalo—a savory beef marrow soup that's perfect for sharing. The restaurant’s rustic design, featuring bamboo and palm roofs, adds to its authentic appeal.
Nice and yummy food however it takes forever to serve. We came so hungry and it tooks so much time to serve the food.
Evan P — Google review
Native dishes for pinoy food lovers, though we just tried the typical " bangsilog" and "pansit". Dishes are prepared the filipino way. 😋😋 There's also Karaoke for group gatherings. The restaurant is well visited from locals. It may not be so enticing for Europeans as the bamboo restaurant with palm roofs seems old but it's worth a try.
Malu E — Google review
Con: Long waiting time for food to arrive. Pros: Near the highway. Lots of food choices. Nice bamboo aesthetics.
Alexis B — Google review
The Best in Batangas City!
Joseph A — Google review
Located near our house's vicinity, Irenes has been a dine in choice for us. I have witnessed its development since the first opening. Authentic Batangas lomi - nothing fancy, the normal one, but still delicious. Variety of food choices. Recommended for all.
Phillip S — Google review
The food is good but a bit costly but it is worth the price for it.
Elias R — Google review
The place is good but the food is just so-so. Especially the Lomi, it's disappointing and the toppings aren't event fully cooked (chicken ball ba yun or what na frozen pa yung gitna).

We took a table at the first floor near the entrance. Ok naman ang seating, but I think may mas magagandang seats with a better view upstairs. The staff were very accommodating and professional. The food was excellent. Particularly enjoyed the royal chicken biryani bowl, very filling and delicious. Loved the burgers, pizza, and honey sriracha chicken. If you want great food at very reasonable prices, look no further. Highly recommend.

Value for money. Food was good. Only the avocado shake was so-so. It didn't taste like avocado, more like matcha. Crispy pata pizza was a must-try.

Mjca's Restaurant

Restaurant
Mjca's Restaurant is a popular dining spot near the campus, exuding uplifting provincial vibes. While known for its pasta and noodles, the unmatched chicken chami is a must-try dish. The menu offers many decent options at varying price points, making it suitable for different budgets. Additionally, the restaurant features a videoke area for enjoying with friends. It's also a common spot for late-night snacks and drinks with its nice ambiance.
I have dined here many times since It's near the campus I go to. The place gives off uplifting province vibes. I am not a fan of pasta or noodles but the chicken chami here is unmatched. It's my default order here when I don't feel like trying the many decent options in the menu. The cost can range from affordable to fancy. The place also has a videoke area to enjoy with friends.

The chicharon was old, I waited for half an hour and was disappointed by the food quality. Sometimes it is good but there's no consistency.

Just passing by here to get some late night snack Lomi post ambucon to Batangas Medical Center. The resto is ok. Have a nice ambience to it when the night comes. Common place to drink beers and have a late night dinner.

very convenient since it is open 24/7 the only bistro in Batangas that serves Vietnamese food and it does taste authentic. the crew are very appreciative and approachable. and yes it does have parking.

We used to love it here, though we still like their Pho, they don't serve it complete with lettuce and bean sprout unless you ask for it.

Bought kare kare, danggit, chopsuey, and adobong pusit, take out, for my father. But when he was going to eat, no alamang for the kare kare, no vinegar for the danggit. The take away container is bad. The lid for the container of the adobong pusit came off.

The food is totally bad. I just wasted my money. Just the serving sizes are big.
Cindy V — Google review
My compliments to the chef the food is outstanding. Now for the bad news. The staff is clueless we were the only people in the restaurant and they looked quite disappointed that there night of doing nothing was disrupted by customers. The order was mess up and it took a lot of time to come to that conclusion since nobody ever asked us how the food was and if we needed anything. I was drinking beer and had to beg for each one. The staff seemed to be pre occupied with there own agenda. My recommendation would be to give the chef a raise and fire the staff and train a new staff how to operate a restaurant that should be focused on service and up selling customers more food and beer.

Transportation in Batangas City

Getting around Batangas City can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Ninoy Aquino International Airport

International airport
Airport
Ninoy Aquino International Airport, located in the Manila area, is a bustling hub with four terminals offering various amenities such as shops and dining options. It serves as a major gateway for over 30 airlines from around the world, including AirAsia, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and PAL Express. The airport has undergone modernization efforts at Terminal 1 to create a spacious and well-lit environment with improved facilities.
I had the chance to travel through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last year, and it was a smooth and pleasant experience overall. ✈️ What I Loved • Friendly & Welcoming Staff – From check-in to immigration, the staff were very courteous and always ready to assist with a smile. It felt like a genuine reflection of the famous Filipino hospitality. • Good Food & Shopping Options – The airport had a variety of choices to enjoy before the flight, from quick snacks to proper meals, as well as duty-free shops with plenty of options for souvenirs and gifts. • Clean & Organized – The terminal areas I passed through were tidy and easy to navigate, with clear signage that made it simple to move between check-in, security, and boarding gates. • Convenient Location – Being so close to the heart of Manila made arriving and departing easier, especially if you want to explore the city before or after your flight. 🌟 Overall Impression NAIA gave me a comfortable start and finish to my trip. The welcoming atmosphere, smooth process, and helpful staff left me with a very positive impression. It’s a great introduction to the Philippines, setting the tone for the warmth and friendliness the country is known for.
Saikat T — Google review
Overall, the airport is decent, but for Muslim travelers, just a heads-up — there’s no surau or prayer room available. 🙏 So you’ll need to find a quiet, secluded corner to pray, which can be a bit inconvenient, especially during busy hours. It would be great if they could add a small prayer area in the future for travelers’ comfort. The toilets are just okay — not terrible, but not great either. Could use a little more cleanliness and maintenance. On the bright side, the airport staff are polite and helpful, which makes the experience a bit smoother. In short: manageable for a short transit, but definitely room for improvement in facilities, especially for Muslim travelers.
Nadira F — Google review
I recently traveled through Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 (NAIA T2) and encountered a concerning issue that I believe families—especially those traveling with infants or young children—should be aware of. There is currently no available hot water refill station in NAIA T2. If you're a parent who needs hot water to prepare milk or formula for your child, please be advised that this service is no longer offered. I’m not certain why all the hot water dispensers have been removed, but one possible reason could be the installation of vending machines that serve hot noodles with built-in automatic hot water dispensing. These machines may have replaced the previous refill stations. In my case, I had to approach a nearby coffee shop and kindly request to purchase hot water. While the staff were accommodating, this workaround is far from ideal—especially for families who rely on quick and accessible hot water for feeding their children. It’s a basic necessity that should be readily available in an international airport. Additionally, I visited one of the male restrooms in Terminal 2 and noticed a lack of privacy in the urinal area. There were no partitions or barriers between urinals, which can be uncomfortable for many travelers. I hope this feedback reaches the appropriate authorities or airport management. Small improvements like restoring hot water access and enhancing restroom privacy can make a big difference in the overall travel experience—especially for families and international visitors.
Johans E — Google review
I recently flew through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila, and I must say, the experience was truly wonderful. The positive changes are noticeable from the moment you step inside. The terminals felt incredibly clean and well-maintained, a significant improvement that makes the whole transit experience pleasant and welcoming. What truly impressed me was the overall efficiency of the operations. Contrary to some older reviews, my flights, both arriving and departing, experienced minimal to zero delays, making my itinerary stress-free. The check-in and security processes were smooth, fast, and remarkably organized. Above all, the Filipino hospitality shines through. Every single airport staff member—from the immigration officers to the information desk personnel—was genuinely friendly, smiling, and eager to assist. This warm, welcoming attitude created a fantastic first and last impression of the Philippines. The signs were clear, the amenities were accessible, and the atmosphere was generally relaxed. It felt like a modern, efficient hub. Overall, NAIA has excelled. I highly recommend flying through this airport and experiencing the smooth service and genuine kindness of the staff. It was a truly satisfying travel day!
Maria L — Google review
Manila Airport is relatively small compared to other major city airports and still has room for improvement, especially in gate management and passenger comfort and lounges (majority of them are small). Departure areas often feel cramped, with limited seating and passengers crowding near the gates while waiting to board. On the bright side, the arrival experience is generally smoother across terminals. The only downside is the long immigration queues when several flights arrive at once — something that could definitely be improved. Hopefully, the airport continues to upgrade its facilities and passenger flow management over time.
MsOmNom — Google review
The airport is okay but still has a lot of room to improve. It’s not too big, and food and drink options are pretty limited, especially for Muslim travelers. The surau/mushola is located on the top floor, you need to take the lift, walk to the middle area, then go behind. It’s quite far and feels a bit secluded, plus it could use better maintenance and cleanliness. Finding halal food here is almost impossible, so that’s something they really need to improve. Cleanliness and food hygiene overall should be checked more often. The car waiting area can get pretty chaotic too. Still, with some upgrades and better organization, this airport could be much more comfortable for international travelers.
Ira I — Google review
Pros: Upgrades in Progress: T3 now has more shops/restaurants and efficient check-in for Cebu Pacific/Philippine Airlines. Privatization brings better Wi-Fi, charging stations, and lounges (e.g., A Lounge with unlimited food/drinks for ~₱1,500). Affordable Transport Links: Grab/ride-hailing hub at T3 (₱300-500 to Makati); airport trains to city center under planning. Friendly Staff in Spots: Some immigration officers and lounges praised for politeness; T2's domestic vibe feels less chaotic. Diversity of Flights: Excellent connectivity to Asia/US/Europe, with frequent low-cost options. Cons: Congestion & Delays: Immigration/customs lines up to 90 min; traffic to/from airport (e.g., 1-2 hrs from BGC) is "hellish." Recent SUV crash at T1 exposed bollard failures, prompting safety reviews. Maintenance & Cleanliness: Dirty restrooms, broken chairs, power outages; T1/T4 called "outdated and smelly." Bedbug reports in seating persist. Security Scandals: Multiple "tanim-bala" incidents in 2025, leading to OTS staff dismissals and protocol reviews. Strict (inconsistent) rules on lighters/liquids frustrate travelers. Fee Hikes & Value: Terminal fees rising to ₱950 (intl) / ₱390 (domestic) from Sept 2025; parking now ₱1,200 overnight—seen as "greedy" amid poor service. Tips for TravelersArrive Early: 4 hours for intl, 3 for domestic—account for Manila traffic (use Waze). Choose Terminals Wisely: T3 for intl (best amenities); avoid T1/T4 if possible. Prep for Security: Liquids in 100ml bags; no lighters in carry-on. Use online check-in. Transport: Pre-book Grab (~₱400 to Makati); avoid yellow taxis (scams common). Airport parking: Reserve ahead. Lounges & Perks: ₱1,000-2,000 for access; great for escaping crowds. Watch Developments: By mid-2026, expect new gates and e-gates. Track via MIAA app for real-time updates.
Lope Q — Google review
An easy enough airport to get around. I found most of the staff can only comprehend basic English but they were super helpful once they knew what I was asking for. Nothing Google Translate can’t fix! I didn’t appreciate how large this airport actually is! Not as many shops as others of similar size however there isn’t much you can’t get your hands on before you leave
