Opened in 1968, this privately owned zoo features over 800 animals of 150 different species.

The zoo is quite small, but it's fun and has many animals to see. There's a restaurant with tasty food and drinks at affordable prices. I recommend visiting it.

We visited the zoo on a Saturday. We got a bus from Kiel, got off at gettorf HBF and walked about 1.2kms to the zoo entrance. We spent about 3-4 hours in the park, we went there with a 2 year old. They allow feeding many of the animals like goats, cows, zebras. There are some nice birds to look at too. There is a cafe where we had a quick small lunch. Good for a quick one day trip.

It was more than wonderful, with a wide variety of animals, and we could feed some of them. There are designated places that we can reserve throughout the day, and there is a place for grilling. And it has many places for children to play. It also has a good restaurant, and its prices are within the limits, not expensive, and the most important thing is clean bathrooms and under service

Fantastic zoo, we saw the feeding of the chimpanzees, very interesting, the zoo keeper gave a lot of information about Bibi, Nicki and Chico. There are some inviting picnic areas and a lot of playgrounds for the kids. Also fun not only for the kids, you can buy food and feed the goats for instance. Loved the crazy house, it's so cool, especially inside.... just crazy. We will come back for sure.

Nice zoo, but not everything was open during the winter, some of animals are old and showing no interest to do anything. Bad parking area with big holes. Toilet 5 stars! Nice and friendly workers. Kids enjoyed feeding some of animals and even be together and hug them.

We came from Norway to Kiel and visited this place and found it very good. It has s lot of animals and kids area as well which has lot of swings. It is not far from Kiel. I recommend this zoo to everyone who is visiting Kiel with family.
