Lots of trains, and some are still working, Including turntable. And you also could even see guys at the repair-work. Dog-friendly place, good gift-shop.
Really fascinating place to wander around. On a warm day the engine sheds are cool whilst the long lines of exhibits are a delight to wander around. Most people will find tons to do - there’s hourly steam trips on some days. I deducted 1 star as there’s a pervading air of too much to do and not enough volunteers. Lots of the trains are deteriorating badly and there’s areas which have clearly seen better days.
Very strange place. We visited this museum in march and maybe they were not ready for the season. But then why they sell tickets? It feels like the museum is in deep crisis. Everything is unkempt, abandoned and in disassembled condition. The carriages are closed, the children's railway is overgrown with grass. Railway carriages which are not close to the depot are used as garbage bins. The museum workers are sadly smoking at a table nearby the buffet carriage. And in general there is a feeling that you are on a dump.
They have a great selection of historic trains from Austria, some in drivable condition too. The main building was the place where steam engines used to be heated up before use and is interesting to see how things were done. I recommend a tour, but I think they are only given in German.
Beautiful execution. I was missing some platform, or possibility to go more to center of the model city. For small kids is more exciting ground level with atraction
Surprise, if you like trains, you will like this place. There is a workshop, multiple model trains both indoors and outdoors, and a huge outdoor area that just goes on and on and on. The trains themself vary greatly and if you want to look into every nook and cranny, you can spend a lot of time here. The greatest part is the part way behind the workshop. It is more of a graveyard for trains, but that is just my own definition. They could tide up the workshop a bit, but the amount of junk, debris like banana boxes, car AC-s, and broken wood and alike do take away from the charm a bit. The outdoor area and how barrier-free it is is really cool.
This is a graveyard of rusting old engines and rolling stock, it's truly fascinating what they have here. There is a massive workshop where stuff is maintained and renovated. If you love trains then it's a Mecca and probably a little sad too. Might be the most interesting place in the whole of Austria.
Very nice place. Nothing new or renovated inside which makes the place unique. Besides the actual trains , there is a mini train that you can ride on with kids and several miniature train sets as seen in the photos. Very nice. Staff also friendly.
