A great place to visit. We had a wonderful trip to Lepaski from Bangalore. If you are in Bangalore, it is only a 2.5-hour drive. It is a must-see location if you are looking for historical temples and architecture. The Lepakshi temple's most famous sculpture is the massive Nandi (bull) statue, which was carved from a single block of stone. It is huge. Surrounded by lush green grass and a well-maintained garden.
Visited Lepakshi today – overall a great experience. The temple architecture is stunning and rich in history. Not very crowded, which made it peaceful and easy to explore without any rush. Ideal for those interested in photography, heritage sites, or just a calm weekend ride. However, toilet facilities are a major drawback. Clean restrooms are hard to find nearby, especially for families or long stays. Would recommend carrying essentials and planning accordingly
Legend says Lepakshi is derived from the words Le Pakshi (rise o bird). These words were uttered by Lord Rama to Jatayu, the Vulture who layout mortally wounded after a fierce aerial battle with Ravana, who was kidnapping Ma Sita. This the name Lepakshi. The Lepakshi Veerabhadra temple was built by the Rulers of the Vijayanagara Kings in the 16th century. The rock cut temple is beautiful and worth the visit. The carvings are glorious and pay a rich tribute to the architecture and engineering skills of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Nandi and the Nagalingeshwara are a sight to behold.
It is a very beautiful place, it is located 110 km away from Bangalore. You can reach here in 2-3 hours. Both bus and train facilities are available here. There is a Nandi statue here which represents the craftsmanship of ancient history. It is located about 1 km away from the Lepakshi Temple. Moreover, although there is a toilet facility here, it is currently unusable.

This park is a wonderful spot to spend some relaxed time, especially if you’re looking for a mix of culture, scenic beauty, and photography opportunities. The main attraction here is the massive statue of Jatayu, perched on top of a large rock. The craftsmanship of the statue is truly impressive – beautifully carved with intricate details that make it look lifelike and majestic. Reaching the top gives you a lovely view of the surroundings, and it’s definitely worth the short climb or ride. From the peak, you can capture some really stunning panoramic pictures, so don’t forget to carry your camera or a good phone. The atmosphere is calm and refreshing, making it an enjoyable break from the usual hustle of city life. The entry ticket is quite affordable at just ₹10, which makes the experience even more appealing. Parking is available near the park, though it’s chargeable at ₹80. Food options are also present, so you can grab a snack or something to drink while enjoying the view. Overall, it’s a great place to visit with family or friends – good for sightseeing, photography, and spending a few peaceful hours surrounded by nature and history.
Visited Jatayu Theme Park recently — it’s a nice spot for a short visit and quick sightseeing. The entry fee is very reasonable at just ₹10 per person, and the views from the top are really good, especially for photography and relaxation. The parking facility is well-organized and spacious, which makes it convenient for visitors traveling by car or bike. The parking charge is ₹60, which is fair considering the space and security. Overall, it’s a clean, peaceful place to spend some time with family or friends. Good for a quick weekend stop or while passing by. Would recommend carrying water and a cap if visiting during the daytime as it can get quite sunny.
It's a good escape. Sad part main Bird statue is closed for visitors. You need to pay entry ticket and parking both to enter. View from top is awesome. Breeze best
There is nothing to be as a theme park. It's just one big bird on a stone and lot of shops at the foot of the big stone. Why are they charging money for nothing? What is there to see? Just a very disappointing view. The walls are carved with couple names and weird scratch marks. Nobody has cleaned them. We cannot climb on the stone where statue is there. It's restricted. Why is this not mentioned before charging? Not worth anything we pay.
Very good view from the top but they keep it closed most of the time. No entry. Completely occupied by Muslim vendors around including the parking area. Do visit the crafts shop near garuda. Good collection. Best part was also the artist who charges only 300 rs for portrait and such a humble and great guy. Help such artists.
Lepakshi in Andhra Pradesh is attributed as the place where Jatayu fell after being wounded by Ravana. Rama is said to have commanded the bird to rise, saying Le Pakshi (literally: "Get up, Bird" in Telugu), hence the name for the village. There is a foot impression in a boulder just below Jatayu statue. We reached there by evening around 5:30PM we had to buy ticket at the entrance and then walk up the rocks through the steps and reach the top to get a close look at the Jatayu statue. It was a wonderful experience. Even there is provision to climb more on top but mostly it's closed due to winds or some safety problems I guess. Small shops are there outside the entrance to just get some quick snack or there's a shop inside the place to eat some food and experience the place at it fullest.
It's a popular tourist attraction, particularly known for its large statue of Jatayu, the mythical bird from the epic Ramayana. The park is built around the legend that Jatayu fell at this spot after being wounded by Ravana while trying to save Sita. The main highlight is a massive sculpture of Jatayu perched on a rock, seemingly ready to take flight. From the top of the rock where the statue is located, you can get stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape. There are manicured gardens, an information center, and small shops selling local handicrafts, food, and drinks.
Great place with ample parking and fantastic views. It's located close to the Lepakshi Temple and Nandi statue. For just Rs. 10 entry, you can enjoy the park, though climbing the rock wasn't allowed during my visit. It's a quick and enjoyable experience if you're in the area. There is also a footprint of Anjaneya Swamy on the top (caption with image attached)
