Absolutely fantastic boat museum. This was my first time visiting Clayton NY and so many people recommended a stop here. They have a huge collection of boats including a Boatcar, which I had never seen in person as it is very rare. They have some beautiful wooden boats that are well maintained and you can even book a ride on a classic boat! Which is exactly what we did. This was a great way to see the St Lawrence River and many of the islands there. I bought postcards to send to family & friends & promptly sent them out! The gift shop has some nice items available. If you are in Clayton NY, stop in and don't forget to book a boat ride!
Gorgeous gorgeous boats – the place defies words. If you like boats, it's a must see! Took us about three hours - do the La Duchesse houseboat tour...she's pretty special and only adds $3.00! 🙂
We stopped at the Antique Boat Museum, a sprawling complex featuring everything from small leisure vessels to impressive speedboats. The speedboat building was a definite highlight. We opted for the river ride (an added fee) aboard a Hacker Craft, which lasted about 45 minutes. Though the water was a little choppy and windy on the day we went, it was still nice and relaxing. Our captain shared some local history along the way. While the weather is out of the operator's control, this ride would be even better on a calmer, less windy day. Be sure to check the forecast, as the river ride is seasonal.
For boating enthusiasts, this is a must-do when the 1000 Islands area. On a recent visit, I was offered a fabulous ride on a late model Hackercraft piloted by Captain Mike. The tour was scenic and informative, at a cost of only $25 per person!! Their displays of historic vessels document a historic period of recreational boat development, featuring extensive inventory of classic wooden boats, including world famous racers, and Iconic builds like the 48 foot Hutchinson “Pardon Me”. The gift shop features apparel, books, posters, caps, has something for every enthusiast!
What a place! I grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, when there were wooden boats everywhere. Big and small, fast and slow. Walking into the Antique Boat Museum was a trip down memory lane. We expected to spend an hour there. We stayed for over four. The variety of boats and engines and gear is mind blowing. I have never experienced a finer collection of antique boats anywhere. The multiple buildings of the museum are expansive, clean and bright. The virtual boat ride is notable. Seeing so many wooden boats in the water under the shed is really special too. Gives you the opportunity to see the boats as the are supposed to look. That is floating. There must be over 100 canoes from birch bark on up. Something incredible is the race boat building. Boats from the beginning until they stopped using wood. You can see the evolution of race boat design from the dozens of relics they have displayed. If you have even a flicker of interest in classic boats, go visit this place. You can even sign up for a ride in one of the beautiful woiden runabouts they have.
A must when visiting Clayton. My boyfriend surprised me with a trip to this quaint little town. This was definitely a highlight. We made the last river boat tour and the weather was perfect. The river boat can only take 6 passengers and tour is 45mins long. It’s a fast, smooth ride! The museum was nice with multiple areas to explore. We called ahead and the staff was able to accommodate us with a La Duchesse tour. Highly recommend doing this as it’s one of a kind!
This is the type of place you can spend hours reading and viewing. It is overwhelming how much info there is, exhibits, and just content to read about. If you are into the trades of boat building, boating in general, boat racing, canoes, or just general history this is a no brainer to visit. Recommended to stop in and a great job by the staff!
Fantastic museum showing the history of wooden boat building. Many finding example examples to admire. spend the extra three dollars and take the tour of the bolt house boat. It’s well worth the time and money.

A beautiful vineyard with an absolutely stunning storefront in downtown Clayton NY. Spent quiet night amoung the vines. Picked up a couple of bottles for the road.
Been here a couple of times while we visit Alexandria Bay. This trip we felt great when we first walked in, but then 6 people came in shortly after us in a group and then we felt like second class citizens. We didn't expect all of her attention, maybe equal would have been nice. We still bought a couple of bottles of wine after our tasting.
The favorite part of our trip to the 1000 Islands region. I’m really not a big wine person, and definitely prefer sweeter wines. They had a wonderful selection of sweet wines that I really enjoyed trying. We did a wine tasting that ended up being free because we bought a case of wine. We also got a 10% discount for buying a case. The fireboat pink was my favorite. I forget the lady who help us’s name but she was wonderful and so kind. She provided recommendations based on what I enjoyed and even offered me extra tastings. This spot is 6 hours from my home but if I am ever in the area I’ll definitely stop by again for sure.
My normal store didn't have the fire boat pink in stock. Made a quick phone call to find out they had it. Enjoyed the little drive out to the winery. The woman who helped me was very nice and had amazing energy. Walked out the door with two cases. Thank you so much!
Although I don’t drink alcohol I had a great time! I recommend the lemon macaroon. The port-a pottys were very clean and didn’t smell bad. There were beautiful apple & pear trees. The food from the food truck was delicious and the guy serving me was very kind. The girl in the building was also very nice. I don’t know her name though.
Amazing food!!! Reaper chicken sandwich was perfect! Balanced, heat, flavor, and textures. Best grilled cheese I've ever tasted! Burgers are top notch. Highly, highly recommended.
I don't drink, but there were non-alcoholic drinks so it was good. We had drinks called Basket Rides which were really good. It's kind of like a pina colada with strawberry juice minus the Captain Morgan's. There were a lot of different vendors for food and selling stuff. We went for the Hot Air Balloon Festival and took the $20 tethered ride which was cool - extremely hot and loud, but still cool. I would definitely come back next year if we're around during this time of the year.
The sunset cruise with coyote moon is always a great time! Christina was a fabulous host! Can’t wait to do it again!

Our visit was over the summer but finally getting around to sharing about it! From the moment you enter Rock Island to when you leave you feel right at home. it is honestly our favorite Island we have visited on the river. There is even a scavenger hunt for kids on the island that our kids so enjoyed! Heck, my husband and I even enjoyed it. We went up to the top of the lighthouse and a gentleman shared all the history with us. It was very interesting and he was so kind and knowledgeable!! We love Rock Island and plan to return again the next time we visit that area.
Such a great experience visiting this lighthouse. Staff was so enthusiastic in sharing their knowledge and love of this place.
Although it was a cold rainy overcast day we still had fun. We didn’t go to the island but saw it from land and on our way to Bolt Castle. I would highly recommend a trip to Bolt Castle if you are anywhere near this lighthouse an easy trip on a broad take you to the island we bought the combo ticket on line so it was easy and no hassles. Although when we got there there wasn’t any lines and no crowds because it was cold and rainy. But that worked out to our advantage Tickets are same price on line as in person but in the better weather I’d get tickets in advance. The combo ticket doesn’t include the ride to the castle but it does gets you another boat ride to the boat house and back to the castle. The boats run every 30 minutes so you never wating long to go to the island or return the boat running to the boat house runs every 10-15 minutes and is about a 2 minute ride
Nice place to visit. Guide gives a brief informative lecture and then you can climb up. The rest of the island is quite small and rocky(surprise!). The gift shop inventory is sparse. They have a treasure hunt activity for kids too young to climb.
What an interesting and beautiful place! We paddled there on Sunday morning around 10am and, aside from the three Parks employees, were the only people there for an entire hour-plus. Beautiful place, meticulously maintained. We had a great tour and learned all about the history of the lighthouse. The Park guide spotted a freighter coming and encouraged us to go to the top of the lighthouse to watch it pass by. That was so cool! Nice gift shop with souvenirs and snacks. All for $3 per person. We dilly-dallied around for a bit; we didn’t want to leave! Highly recommended.
Beautiful grounds, kept very clean. Can take the stairs to the top of the lighthouse for beautiful views of the St Lawrence River. Very knowledgeable staff to tell you the history of the island and lighthouse as well as the history of the surrounding areas of the River.
The renovations are really good. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse is recommended. The view is incredible and the history is fascinating. Get out here any way you can. Swim if you have to!
Great place to go to see a beautiful view and hear some awesome bootlegging history. Our guide was a sweetie and knows his stuff. Limber up your knees for the trip up and watch your head on the last step. The views are worth it .

A fishing pier, sheltered beach & docks on St. Lawrence River, with scenic picnic & camping areas.

Very clean , neat, well maintained, groomed, scenic campground. There was a wedding on property when we were there. Nice location. Enjoyed our stay, although we were next to inconsiderate people that kept their white lights on all night , illuminating the whole place, leaving their dogs in their camper all day alone and barking, ruining the peace of anyone within 200 feet , returning in the evening to have a full bar set up on their tailgate. We made the most of it and enjoyed our time there and ignored the inconsiderate fools next to us
My family comes to this park regularly and we love it. There is a beach, playgrounds for children, boat launch/marina, and docks to fish off of. The only caveat is that the bathrooms are not always super clean. When the park gets busier, the bathrooms become less clean (check for toilet paper before you sit!)
Nice place if you are interested in just staying in the area but the campgrounds themselves were not very private. Everything is wide open and crammed together. We have stayed at similar types of campgrounds but they are typically private and are into high volume dollars. For a state park it was surprising. The staff however was very friendly and helpful. We left the site during the day for a variety of reasons so we didn't end up staring at our neighbors staring at us. If you are expecting a wooded campsite, don't look here. If you want open spaces, level roads for bikes and something near the seaway, then it would be a fit for you.
Out site was right on a corner and we thought it was going to be too busy but we were pleasantly surprised. Kids riding bikes, friendly people walking..it was great. The beach was perfect for those hot days.
Cedar Point State Park is a Must-Stop for Road Trippers Cedar Point State Park in New York was one of the unexpected highlights of our road trip through New York, Vermont, Quebec, and Ontario. We weren’t planning on staying there originally, but a friendly local we met at a nearby brewery recommended it—and we’re so glad they did. We asked the park staff for a recommendation, and they pointed us to Campsite #23, which turned out to be absolutely perfect. We were traveling in our SUV (no RV or camper), with a mattress in the back, and this site was exactly what we needed: quiet, right on the water, and with stunning sunset views over the St. Lawrence River. If you don’t need hookups for water or electricity, this is hands-down the best spot in the park. You can park right at the site, and it’s just steps from the shoreline. The facilities were also great—clean restrooms and showers were just a short walk from our site, which made the stay even more comfortable. The park itself is peaceful and well-maintained, with plenty of space and scenic views all around. As for pricing, we paid $26 USD when booking directly at the park office, but if you book online in advance, expect to pay around $33 USD. Either way, it’s a great value for such a beautiful, relaxing place. If you’re road-tripping through the region and want a quiet, scenic spot to stay overnight or for a few days, Cedar Point State Park is well worth the stop. It’s the kind of place you’ll remember long after the trip ends.
Favorite place to camp in the St. Lawrence with amazing sunsets and perfect views of the passing boats and ships!
This is more like a private campground, packed in like sardines. Our campsite was unbackable...one of the worst sites here #83....fix it for crist sake put some gravel down. We had to park length ways we were scraping the bumper on the hill trying to back it up. Also most state campgrounds have some hiking trails not this one it's mainly for fishing. O well live and learn. If you just want to fish this is for you, it also has limited internet at least with AT&T. My fault I should have Google earthen it.
Beautiful place to go camping. It was clean and well maintained with gender neutral bathrooms (individual bathrooms with showers), gorgeous view of Wolf Island across the water, nice beach (although didn't swim in it), very nice park for kiddos, and good size flat sites. Would come again.

Update: 1 yr later, still great spirits. Delicious: Bourbon Cream, White Raspberry Cream, Lemoncello. They also have cocktails! indoor and outdoor seating available. Friendly staff Wow, what a pleasant surprise, fantastic spirits, nice, friendly staff!
Excellent experience at Clayton Distillery; highly recommend! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the visit even more enjoyable. The bourbon cream is to die for—smooth, rich, and dangerously delicious like nothing I've ever tasted before. If you're visiting during the summer, try one of their lemonade slushies with or without moonshine, they’re refreshingly perfect for beating the heat. Whether you're a spirits enthusiast or just looking for a fun tasting experience, this place is a must-visit in the 1000 Islands region!
Stopped in before sight seeing on a thousand islands tour. Just got some slushies. You can make your own or they have premade recipes. They were quite refreshing.
Happy to have come here after seeing too many ads for wineries in the area. The logo looks great and is really easy to spot while driving. The staff were great to talk to and the place had a nice vibe. You can get some tasters of their products for a super low price (just $1). They also have alcoholic slushies, which seem pretty popular around here. I'm a vodka guy, so I just tried some of their interesting products like the berry-flavored vodka and the garlic vodka. Ended up getting the berry-flavored vodka and loved it!
You guys got my drunk. What can I say. I bought a bottle of whiskey and got a moonshine slushie. The staff was kind and friendly and the drinks were amazing! It’s a smooth whiskey and has loads of flavors. Worth a visit for sure!
My wife pretty much hates most liquor. She actually liked this stuff. The navy gin rivals Blue Sapphire Bombay, and possibly a bit better. Husband is the distiller and his wife and her sister run the store. We walked out with three bottles of hooch! Get in here!
I called from out of state to order some liquor for my friends birthday and Michelle was so awesome. She had to go through some hoops to make my order go through. Due to them not carrying the exact bottle size and proof from the Clayton Distillery, she had to contact them in order to get the correct products. She did a great job taking care of my order. Thank you!
Nice little place, bartender was nice knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely worth stopping in any time you pass by. 3 free samples then after that quite cheap. Garlic vodka is amazing for a nice spicy morning BM

It’s small, but full of the wonders of the 1,000 Islands. Stop in if you want to see historic artifacts from the past (I mean like WAY BACK) or if you want to pay respect to the locals who served this great nation.
The museum is located on James Street in Clayton NY. The exterior is clean and safe 👌 but you do have to pay for parking. The inside of the building you are greeted by the director of the museum. He greeted us and gave us a great speech about the history of the city of Clanton. The museum has 2 floors with an elevator 🛗 if needed. The second floor was the history of the local fishing and duck hunting past. The museum has a few employees who volunteer thank you 😊. Had a good time looking at the rich past this area had. But today it is the best veiw I have ever seen and so clean. Great job to all of the employees who serve the Clayton NY outstanding job 👏 Gerry
The free museum was okay. Our visit did not take long, but we enjoyed a stroll around the town center. Stopped at Bella’s, a cafe and restaurant on the waterfront.
Lots of detailed local history and displays of antebellum articles right on the St. Lawrence River Bay. Across from Canada.
Great research area, they have binders and books by family name.
Interesting little museum with some extremely friendly staff.
Quaint museum. Fishing history Takes an hour or less to go through.
Beautiful area. Winding roads with beautiful Victorian style cottages. The bridge takes EZ pass and is steep. Be mindful if you don't care for bridges, it's a bit startling. Thankfully it's 30 mph, but it's narrow.

Really cool art gallery on James Street. It's one of the first shops on the row, so it can get missed fairly easily if you aren't looking or don't usually make it to the end of the block. The staff is really nice and they have a co-op mix of etchings, photography, pottery, furniture and more. Definitely worth visiting.
I wrote this review nine months ago, but I'm consolidating all of mine into one Google account. Many museum-worthy pieces. Terrific works. Big city quality in a small town space. Bravo!
I was very impressed by all of the artworks on display. The gallery's director's work is also on display and she is a very fine artist herself.

Rachel is an amazing tour guide through the spirits and whiskey list. Awesome positivity and vibes!!! We tasted vodka, bourbon, whiskey, and Absinthe! Could have spent the afternoon soaking in the views while sipping some quality whiskey. Favorites were Rye Knot and Ice Breaker Gorgeous views of the Saint Lawrence River.
Great spirits, Rye Knot was the winner. Was not busy when we visited, beautiful views, The restaurant is not open.
Great lavender martini! The staff was pleasant, knowledgeable and helped me choose some spirits to my liking. Another customer purchased a three pack of spirits done up in a lovely package that looked very smart I described it as a black hand bag or briefcase would be a great gift!!
Fantastic Spirits! I am a big fan of the American Whiskey and the Bourbon. The staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable. The views are very nice. I look forward to visiting when I am in the area.
Went there to drink with another couple. We would have ate if we new they had new owners and menu. Very good drinks and samplers. Tremendous vibe. Very nice waitress. Good liquor, bought a bottle of bourbon ;-) Will def be back!
Always happy at the River. St Lawerence Distillery is a great place for a specialty drink and beautiful view. More people should make the trip, we were the only 2 at 3 pm.
Great drinks, food, and view in old estate overlooking lake. Recommend nachos, downbound 75, and gin & tonic flight. Beer, cider, and wine also. Great bourbon and whiskey.

You can never go wrong stopping in here for a tasting and staying for a cocktail! The staff are very knowledgeable about their spirits and extremely helpful. Also a great place to stop in for some great local gifts for anytime of year.
Loved this place. The spirits speak for themselves and I ended up with a few bottles. Everything we tasted was great, but really can't go wrong. The staff was super friendly and she was very knowledgeable about all the spirits and the town. Made for a good day on a nice cold and snowy afternoon.
Went there and Nicole was great . Very personable. Very notable. Great time!!
We have been coming here for the last couple years. However this visit was incredible unfortunate. The bartender although she mentioned she was newer was rude and slightly argumentative. ordered an old fashioned which tasted terrible. Probably the worst I’ve ever had. It was made with soda water regular ice, maraschino cherries, and was shaken. my wife had a different drink and it as well was not good. As we were sitting there we did not mention that the drinks were not good. But we’re sitting quietly when the bartender proceeded to then talk about my husband and how he must have always had terrible old fashioned drinks before because she followed the instructions perfectly. Now mind you we have not said anything to them about the drinks being bad and are sitting quietly at the table. This experience was incredibly rude. We decided to not even purchase our normal bottles and decided to pay for our drinks and leave. As we were walking out the bartender again was making a comment it was incredibly rude. Very sad as this is usually one of our favorite stops.
Delicious Bloody Mary! Try the Captain's Flask Bourbon. The bartender is very personable and enhances a great experience. Thank you, SLS.
Stopped in while waiting for lunch and glad we did. Nice little place and great bartender! I’ll be back for sure!
The staff was absolutely amazing! Extremely helpful with their knowledge of the spirits. We were the only ones in there due to it being the off season but it enhanced our experience by being able to sit and talk with them. The spirits are delicious. I was also able to buy the limited release bottles that were just bottled that day! Will definitely come back!

River Magic Gifts is a delightful treat! Beautifully hand crafted pieces that are unique & exquisite. Barbara (the owner) is very gracious & knowledgeable about all the artists. A true treasure in Clayton!
I purchased 2 pieces that ended up being by the same artist, yet we're unique for each piece. This is a gem of a shop in my opinion! Super glad I wandered in here, you will not be disappointed with the range of items by local crafts people. Perfect to find a small gift for someone you love!
Because I live several hundred miles away, I needed to ask questions about a art piece I'd seen last year. Barbara, the owner, was SO helpful and sent pictures, dimensions and price via email to me. She then held the piece until my sister could get it for me. Thank you, Barbara! Your shop is full of lovely things and they all reflect your kindness!
I gave the store 1 star because of the unique gifts and artistry. The older couple at the store were not friendly at all. Our group was interested in several pieces. We were looking at the puzzle boxes and the older man told my husband please don’t break it. My husband said I won’t. He then said “I’ve heard that before”. My nephew really liked them too and picked one up. He immediately said, “I’ll have to ask you to put that down young man, we have signs all over not to touch them”. There were two very small signs. Apparently you can’t try out a very expensive “puzzle box” before you buy it. Maybe have a tester? There’s a way to talk to people and this wasn’t it. Maybe he could of walked over and showed us how to use it. I said that we are leaving even though we were interested in a couple of items. We have come to St Lawrence every year for 15 years and we always spend a lot of money in this area. Their loss, plenty of other stores to spend money at.
We stopped at this charming shop in July of 2020 while staying in Clayton. They had a good variety of nice things to buy without charging a fortune. I saw wind chimes that I wanted, but didn’t buy them. Later I called to see if she still had any left, and she did. She gave me a description over the phone and put them aside for me, so I can pick them up this coming week on a return trip. I would highly recommend stopping by here while visiting downtown Clayton!
A wonderful shop. Very clean with hand crafted gifts. You may find something you haven't seen before. Craftspeople from many areas and unique gifts.
The owner Barbara is so nice and knowledgeable about the area. She carries all unique handmade items in her store. Adorable shop!

We came across this church while on family vacation at the Thousand Islands. Coming from a very large church from home, it was such a breath of fresh air to walk inside a small local church and to see the community together. As soon as we got into the car after service, I immediately burst into tears. JESUS was in that church, and his spirit was within every person inside. The humble band, the kids ministry, and the outpouring things they do for the community is exactly what a church is all about. We are so happy to have found our church home for when we take our annual trip to the Islands in the summer. God bless River Community!
Biblically sound. Has a worship team. Can wear whatever you would like. Quite a substantial amount of food. Will give you a sweet gift bag when you come-God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are talked about. Great place to come together and praise Jesus! A church that has a strong sense of relationships and community. The people have a desire to love God and love others-plenty of places to get involved (all ages) and passion to build one another up. Pretty rad mission.
Have been a member about 12 years. It's not a building it's a family. A place to learn and grow and shine your light
God is moving in this place!

Good folks selling and servicing gorgeous “floating furniture”, some of which was made nearly 100 years ago. If you don’t know your boats . . . know your boatmen!
Wow, this place has an amazing collection of vintage wooden boats
Very beautiful boats. I saw the Elvis and was like hell yeah!!!!! .....lol n
After fulfilling a long time “bucket list” dream of owning a classic wooden boat and sharing it with our family, friends and most importantly, grandchildren; I decided it was time to find a new caretaker for this classic. I did not want to run an ad and publish my phone number as I already get too many unwanted calls, so I checked out a number of sites and found Antique Boat America. It worked perfectly for me with no hassles and I think they found a new owner that appreciates having an 80 year old classic boat that is in good shape that is mostly all original. Certainly check out Antique Boat America is you are looking to either buy or sell a classic boat in the NE.
I am a wooden boat restoration company. I made my first phone call to Fritz. After cutting me off mid sentence to tell me he's to busy preparing for an upcoming show to talk to me he tells me to go browse thier website. So I let that go because I've gotten ready for trade shows. It's hectic, I get it. So I browse the website find 4 boats that I'm interested in. After 4 phone calls and a few emails from 2 different people at my company with no response what's so ever. This is hands down the worst broker I have ever had to deal with. What a joke. Sad just sad. BUSINESS = COMMUNICATION My advice If you not going to spend six figure on a boat, go somewhere else. This company has lost site of its roots
Beautiful boats on display. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Their knowledge of the boat's history is superb. I have bought two antique boats from them and will continue to purchase from them as long as they are in business and I have money to shop.
Made an offer on a boat which was accepted. Peter agreed I could wire the funds to be held in escrow until I inspected the boat so I wired the money to their account on Monday. On Wednesday I got an email from him telling me the seller is not comfortable with escrow despite the fact that the money would be held by their broker. Apparently they never checked with the seller before offering it and instead of trying to finalize the deal Pete just returned my money. I'm glad to have the money back but I took a day off of work to do the wire transfer and paid the wire transfer fees all of which I am out. I also missed out on a different boat I was going to buy because I thought this was a done deal. I've worked with brokers before and this is hands down the least professional experience I have had. There is no excuse for offering something like escrow without checking with the seller first. Clear lack of communication between them and their sellers.
I recently had a business dealing with Antique Boat America and Peter Mellon. There was a misunderstanding with the seller of the boat and the condition of the engine. Even though Peter had nothing to do with the situation, he spent a lot of time and effort to look out for my interests and make me happy. I have worked with many brokers over the years and Peter is by far the most professional that I’ve worked with. He is the consummate professional and I give him the highest recommendation.
