It rained that day! Still when it stopped it was nice! Plenty of parking and bathroom and nice shop/ museum inside. Road is narrow so closer in one car at a time. I didn't run into anyone opposite of me. Resident nearby.
I was so excited to visit this lighthouse famous from the Forrest Gump movie. The experience was even better than I had hoped for. We were there on a July afternoon and there were a decent number of people visiting at the same time. There is a path on the grounds with historical information that we started with followed by a museum and gift shop where we stopped at next. The museum had lots of interesting information on both the lighthouse and the area. Bob let us in to the lighthouse itself and was a very kind and interesting volunteer to chat with. The views are spectacular and the lighthouse itself is gorgeous. If you are in the area, stopping here should be a priority. Highly recommend. This is an experience not to be missed
Visiting Marshall Point Lighthouse is truly an unforgettable experience and an absolute must-see for anyone traveling along Maine’s stunning coast. Perched at the edge of Port Clyde, this iconic lighthouse offers everything you could hope for in a classic New England landmark — beauty, history, and serenity all in one breathtaking setting. Fans of the movie Forrest Gump will instantly recognize the lighthouse from the famous scene where Forrest ends his cross-country run, Runninguh up the walkway, briefly pausing before turning back. Standing there in that very spot feels like stepping into a piece of cinematic history — it’s both surreal and inspiring. Recent repairs to the walkway after storm damage have restored it beautifully, and it looks as good as new. The craftsmanship and care that went into the restoration are evident, allowing visitors to once again stroll out to the lighthouse safely and enjoy the view just as it was meant to be seen. The staff and volunteers here are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, always eager to share stories about the lighthouse’s history, its keepers, and its role in the local maritime community. Their passion for preservation really brings the site to life. And then there’s the view — absolutely spectacular. Whether you visit on a misty morning or under a fiery sunset, the sweeping panorama of ocean, sky, and rocky shoreline will leave you speechless. It’s one of those places where you can simply stand still, breathe in the sea air, and feel completely at peace. Five stars all the way for Marshall Point Lighthouse — a perfect blend of history, natural beauty, and Maine charm. Don’t miss it!
Great lighthouse. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, definitely worth a visit. Of course we came because it was in Forest Gump. Exactly like the movie. You can run up just like Forest Gump did. So much fun!
Marshall Point Lighthouse is small but picturesque, with a classic wooden walkway leading to the light. Peaceful setting and great photo spot with ocean views. Worth a quick stop if you’re nearby.
Was a wonderful lighthouse and historic museum. Very friendly and knowledgeable volunteers staffed there. Beautiful views and interesting history. My children love the book I got from there too about the lighthouse pup.
Interesting artifacts inside the museum/gift shop. And a fun little gift store! Beautiful views all the way around. I could have sat there all day watching and listening to the waves.
Wonderful experience for the lighthouse lover!! Adjacent beach is worth visiting at low tide. Host in the museum is extremely knowledgeable and personable, making the visit all the more special. Great photo opportunity.

My round trip passage was very smooth. (We sailed out on a rainy day with choppy water.) While I normally get seasick, I actually fell asleep! The crew and booking agent went above and beyond to accommodate me.
Perfect day. Beautiful island. Lots of great hikes. 1 hour boat ride.
Located about 12 miles off the shore of Maine is a wonderful day trip of bird watching and hiking. The easiest way to get there is by ferry. The Monhegan Boat Line is a well run operation. The ferry is clean, comfortable and safe. It is dog friendly too. The boat ride is a little over an hour with seating inside and outside. Bathroom was clean. The boat does not have a cafe/snack bar/restaurant.
We stayed on Monhegan Island & traveled back & forth on Monhegan Boat Line. On the way out it was gray and choppy but the ride was smooth and on time. Our ride back to the mainland was in beautiful weather and the trip was equally easy with the added pleasure of blue skies and endless blue sea. Very happy with our trips thanks to MBL!
Took some friends from Georgia on a Puffin expedition! We all loved!!!
Andy and crew at Monhegan Boat Line to Monhegan Island are awesome. Very smooth boat ride both ways, easy pick up and drop off, and bathrooms on board. It takes a little over an hour to get there, but it goes quick since you're going through the harbor and open water. Very possible to see sharks or whales, but ask Andy and his crew questions about the islands and stuff and they are happy to answer them.
Monhegan Boat Line offers a very enjoyable trip to Monhegan Island. The crew was both entertaining and informative, pointing out seals, puffins, and lighthouses and even teaching us about lobstering. They run two round trips each day. One round trip ticket is under $40 per person. You should purchase your tickets in advance.
In July I took a Puffin Trip. The crew was very informative and we saw plenty of wildlife: Puffins, Seals and Bald Eagles along with some others. I would recommend this trip for anyone wanting to see the puffins.

Owls Head Lighthouse was a peaceful and scenic stop. It’s a small but beautiful lighthouse perched on a rocky cliff with great views of the coast. The short walk up was easy, and we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. There’s a small museum nearby with interesting facts about the lighthouse’s history and how it operated. Even though we’re not from Maine, we found it relaxing and educational, a perfect spot to take in the natural beauty and learn something new. The nearby beach was peaceful with gorgeous views all around. We will certainly be back!
The lighthouse is so beautiful! And easy to walk there. There was a lot of people coming there during the weekends. Great place to listen to the ocean and see a wonderful view.
Great place to visit the owl's head light house. It's a small walk/hike but the views are stunning. Free parking available and enough space there and not very crowded even on a weekend. It gets very windy once you climb the stairs to view the lighthouse so get your jackets for sure.
I went there to see the lighthouse. Not a tough walk from the parking area. Great views. If I’d had more time I would have spent longer there and tried the water.
Beautiful area and beautiful views! Put it on your list of stops. You will enjoy as did we.
The park is small, but very beautiful, with breathtaking views. It has a small Owl's Head lighthouse, and a rocky beach with picnic area.
Simply Amazing 💙💙💙 Its a ways up north of Portland Maine & local road. But worth it. Its simply breathtaking 💙
Beautiful state park with many trails, a beach area, and a lighthouse accessible during daylight hours. All for free on the beautiful coast of Maine!

Our family couldn't have loved this place more. The whole town was so charming. Restaurants, ice cream, and shopping were all within walking distance. The location was perfect and felt very safe. Everyone was so friendly. We will definitely be back!
Tamara was a terrific guide! we learned about qualifying to fish for lobster, some history of local industries, and how to use a rudder on a kayak (new to me!) She was patient and kind. We'll be back!
Tamara fabulous hostess! Hard to find shorter rental locations- space is LARGE, well equipped and spotless!! Efficiency also has air Fryer, hot plate, microwave - so convenient to walk down to Monhegan boat landing, Jessies ice cream and breakfast/ lunch spot! Check in/ out so easy!
Tamara was a great guide. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience!
If you're visiting or living near Midcoast Maine and you have any impulse to get out on the water, go with Port Clyde Kayaks! I've taken all of their scheduled tours, and they are great. The scenery is just beautiful, whether in Port Clyde or Tenants Harbor, the guides are warm and knowledgeable, and the tours seem to work for every age and experience level. And if you're lucky enough to be around for a full moon, don't miss that tour, with views of both the setting sun and the rising moon--a lifetime memory!
Great experience. Had kayak delivered to where staying in Tenant’s harbor. Was amazing to kayak from our cottage. Felt like staff where truly dedicated to us a having a good experience
We had a wonderful afternoon getting to see Port Clyde from a new view. Adam took the time to get us set up and pointed out things about the sea and shore. I found a deeper appreciation for the area. Thanks for a fun afternoon we will remember for a long time. I was especially appreciative of Adam's experience with teen kids.
My family and I had a lovely morning out on the water with Shannon and Tamara. We saw seals and porpoises which was quite a treat. The guides were thoughtful and kind. We'll definitely be back!

Sadly this was lost in a fire recently involving this facility, Port Clyde General Store, Dip Net Restaurant as well as building for Monhegan Boat Line though this ferry business is still operational running trips to Monhegan Island.
Beautiful gallery. The space is lovely - it's up on the second story with great light and is laid out very thoughtfully. I enjoyed the various spaces to take in the selected pieces, plus a table with books on the Wyeths and their work. We sort of stumbled upon it as we were out for dinner along the water and it was a highlight of our time in Port Clyde. The woman we met was very friendly and willing to chat with me and my son for a while - she gave us the backstory of Peeky Toe which had caught our eye. I'm adding this to my list of favorite Maine spots to visit.
This is a gallery, not a museum. It consists of reproductions of several different Wyeths' work. Nice quality, but a bit on the expensive side. The staff was still pleasant after I told them I can't afford their prints. :)
What a beautiful gallery with wonderful Wyeth art available. A must-stop when in Port Clyde.
Visited the general store and had lunch. Great service and great food.

Post cards all over mid coast promoting new work at gallery. Dates listed on postcard when galley was open...drove all the way out there to find a sign on the door saying they were closed for the day. Very disappointing - not reliable on being open.

It has been a long time since I have been here but for those who are interested in Marine Biology as well as other nature things, this is a great place to be. The instructors were always so friendly and offered tons of learning for me. The location is a bit away from larger tons however it is still a great place to be at for learning.
So glad we stopped in here during our stay in Port Clyde. Ava was amazing—super engaging, patient, and made the touch tanks such a fun learning experience for the kids (and adults!). Highly recommend for anyone with kids visiting the area.
My son attended a week long ocean science camp here. It was excellent. He loved the experience and I was very happy with the high quality summer camp experience.
This is a must see. Also keep an eye out this summer, they will be doing Pop-up Educational On the Peninsula Happenings around the area.
Highly recommend the educational activities, particularly with kids! The staff is amazing and super accommodating!
New to the area. I'm very interested in the Center and the surrounding community.
