Enjoyed a tasting at Duchman Winery, very nice. Wine service provided by Richard. He was knowledgeable and shared some of the rich history as he poured some very good wines. The Montepulciano and Aglianico are my go-to wines. Tried the Canto Felice for the first time. Enjoyable with a semi-sweet taste, but not too much. The winery was very nice and a great place to spend the afternoon. It's not surrounded by other wineries. That's a good thing.
August 2024 Duchman Family Winery is a nice and charming winery where can enjoy wine tasting and have a kitchen where can order a pizza. I come here often and always walk out with a bottle of wine to take home. I like their product and can buy a bottle and sit under the big oak trees in front to enjoy it. The staff working here are very friendly and plenty of parking in front.
OUTSTANDING visit at Duchman Family Winery! We decided to begin our adventure in the Texas Hill Country at Duchman Family Winery, and we ended up staying all day. Our experience began with a tasting of five exceptional 100% Texas wines, and we added the Swiss Chocolate Pairing. Each sip and bite heightened the flavors of both the wine and chocolate! The staff were truly exceptional, expertly guiding our group through the fundamentals of wine tasting and sharing the deep roots of Texas wine. After the tasting, we enjoyed a late lunch. Being part of a large group allowed us to sample nearly everything on the menu, including hand tossed pizzas, truffle fries, and a variety of dips and snacks. Both the vegetarians and carnivores loved everything and paired our bites with Duchman wines under the oak trees. Thank you Duchman Family Winery we will definitely be back!
I had a wonderful experience at Duchman Family Winery. The setting is absolutely beautiful—nestled in the Texas Hill Country, it offers a peaceful, scenic atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. The wines themselves were impressive. The staff was knowledgeable, welcoming, and happy to guide us through the tasting with interesting insights about each varietal and the winemaking process. The tasting room is elegant yet inviting, and the surrounding grounds make for a lovely place to linger. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking for a serene getaway, Duchman is well worth the visit. I’ll definitely be back!
Very nice place. Loved the atmosphere!! There were awesome cars outside that we went to see. Food was good - we’ve gotten the pizza and the humas + pita. We played a number of board games and relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Wine was really good and a reasonable price. Nice area overall - would definitely recommend when in the area!!
I had so much fun setting up this birthday picnic. I have had several birthdays here and have just always loved this venue. I own a mobile bar/luxury picnic business called pouring on the go and I was so happy when my client decided to use this location as her picnic spot. It’s so beautiful here, the staff is always friendly and the facility is a clean bathroom etc.. the architecture on this place is just a dream and the best part is you can go inside and get a bottle of wine or get some tastings and all their wine is made from 100% grapes from Texas. I hope more of my clients want to use this location because it is just so beautiful and never disappoints, in the staff was really friendly about everything they told us to stay as we wanted no rush can’t recommend more!!
We came here for our daughter's 22nd birthday. It was perfect! We learned so much about wine. They have a standard tasting list, but after talking to us and learning the difference in our palettes, he switched some things so we would have a better experience. Several people jumped in to help and everyone had a kind personality. There was an art show when we went; pleasant surprise! This place is simply lovely!
This winery is so beautiful, I could live there. The views are breathtaking, and the main house is absolutely impressive, I was so impressed with the property I had to explore it further on my own. They have been operating since 2004 and turned the former residence into a tasting, event and sales space. The sun room and patio are perfect for enjoying a tasting or a bottle of wine among friends. I actually sampled all of the wines on my visit to the vineyard, of course my preference is red, but I found many of the whites quite refreshing. Although the pool is no longer used for swimming, it makes an excellent backdrop, stop in and set a spell! Cheers!

We had the most amazing time at the Driftwood Estate Winery! Not only were the views and wine incredible, our service was unbeatable. We had Carol do our wine tasting and she was a HOOT! She made the entire experience even better than we expected. I can’t wait to go back! 🖤
Wife and I love coming to this winery when we visit Austin. Been coming for years and we love it. The wine they make is super and so is the bistro.
My friend and I visited this winery today and had such a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. The wine was absolutely delicious — we enjoyed every sip while taking in the breathtaking views of the vineyard. We visited on a weekday, so the bistro wasn’t open, but the peaceful atmosphere made for the perfect, relaxing afternoon. I’ve noticed some reviews mention the winery’s policy on no children or infants — personally, I appreciated the adults-only setting, as it added to the tranquil and serene experience. This is a gem of a spot, and I can’t wait to come back when the bistro is open. Highly recommend for a peaceful escape, great wine, and beautiful scenery!
We had a wedding rehearsal dinner here. Everything about this place is absolutely beautiful. The Staff, Anita and the owner were so friendly & helpful. Their wine and craft beer selection is awesome. We were able to enjoy the sunset while enjoying our dinner. They made our rehearsal dinner a very special occasion. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back and enjoy this property again.
Very friendly staff & excellent variety of wines! Stunning views! Highly recommend! The woman that checked us out even gave us a free wine opener as we didn’t have one in our Airbnb.
I had the most incredible experience at this winery! Carol and Laryn went above and beyond with their exceptional customer service, making the tastings an absolute dream. They even went off-menu to ensure our palates were perfectly accommodated. I ended up leaving with four bottles of their fantastic wine, and they were kind enough to let us stay a little longer to soak in the gorgeous sunset. Such sweethearts! Highly recommend – their service is absolutely killer!
Beautiful countryside overlooking from outdoor picnic tables. Their huge outdoor shelter house can get REALLY noisy with just a few people so that it's hard to talk. We walked next door to the Bistro and ordered 3 appetizers for the six of us while we enjoyed our bottle of wine from the winery. It was nice and quiet there. You MUST order food though to sit there.
The wine is great ( we really enjoyed the red wine) and the grounds are beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's worth the drive from Austin. We'll definitely return next time we're in town.

One of the best wineries I’ve ever been to. Pablo (I hope I got it right) was great. He was friendly and took his time with our tasting and told us a lot about the winery and the area. I would recommend this to any one loving wine in the Wimberly area. Wish we had time to try the beer.
We did a couples tour with friends and had an absolutely amazing time. This place definitely deserves 5 stars! The highlight of our visit was Carter—he was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made our wine tasting experience unforgettable. He recommended fantastic wines that suited everyone’s tastes and took the time to explain each one with genuine enthusiasm. Carter’s expertise and warm personality really elevated our entire visit. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a top-notch wine tasting experience!
Carter was very knowledgeable about the different wines and awesome selections for us to try. With the selections he suggested we found ones that both me and my husband will be able to enjoy together. I am more of the dry reds and my husband is more of the sweets. But Carter found us one that with a perfect blend of dry and sweet. Thank you Carter we will definitely be back and will let our friends and family know of this amazing place.
Yikes! Overall our visit was lovely, the wine tasting was great and the premises were so cute with all the animals. We went behind the main building and there was no sign posted. When we turned around to head back, a woman with a child said “this isn’t open to the public” and then repeated it again and just stared at us. Okay? We didn’t know and there was no sign posted. Very rude, especially after the person serving us wine said we could walk around. It seemed like she was the wife of someone that lived and worked there. Really dampened the whole experience, won’t be coming back.
My date and I had the BEST time at Wimberley Valley Winery!! The whole place has such a pretty, relaxed ambiance -- perfect for hanging out and sipping wine. The variety of wines was impressive, with excellent flavors across the board, and what really made it shine were our two hosts, Jake and Carter. They went above and beyond -- generous pours, so thoughtful and sweet, and they made the whole experience feel personal, fun, and easy. None of that stiff, snobby wine vibe here, just genuine hospitality and good times. And as if that wasn’t enough, we even stumbled into a surprise crew of Porsches outside -- 25 Porches on their way to a show in this picturesque scene. Great wine, great people, beautiful setting -- honestly doesn’t get better than that. Huge thanks to Jake and Carter for making it unforgettable. These guys deserve a bonus!!! :) We’ll definitely be back!
We celebrated my bday here and had an amazing time. The wine tasting was great and reasonably priced. The indoor and outdoor atmosphere were amazing. Loved the black toilet. 😂 The pizza from the food truck was great. They had live music outside. Misters and fans made sitting outdoors pleasant. The animals were so sweet! We will definitely be back on our next Wimberley trip.
Beautiful place, lots of wine and beer options. Great sweet wine options, which is my preference. They had a scavenger hunt setup for kids and one for adults. Food truck smelled amazing but we had just ate. Only one girl working and she was pretty Awesome! Hands down the best out of 6 wineries we visited on our long weekend.
So much fun, enjoyed the wine tasting! The food truck is amazing! Kind people with great service 🥂 Beautiful Trees to sit under 🙂 Picked up my wine club today! Such a great time outside on the patio with music 🎶🍷! They really do a great job for their members! 5/19 wine pick up! Always a wonderful atmosphere 🍷🍷

We really enjoyed our first visit to Salt Lick. From the host, to our server, everything was super friendly. We really enjoyed that you could order plates of food and it was the perfect amount. We had ribs, pulled pork, sausage and brisket. My favorite was definitely the ribs and pulled pork. My husband loved the pulled pork and sausage. The brisket was sadly a bit on the dry side. The sides were good, just the potato salad could be a bit more creamier. We definitely will be back.
Last time I visited here was about 10 years ago. I love the BBQ! Personally I don’t like coleslaw at all cause Mayonnaise, but I love Salt lick coleslaw. It’s light, fresh and unique. I ate two servings of it. The potato salad and the beans are tasty, too. I brought our dog during the trip and they have outdoor area that you can enjoy you meal with you pups. Very pet-friendly. The host is very friendly. Out waitress is nice, too. Oh man… I already miss the food. ❤️❤️
We absolutely loved our visit to The Salt Lick- it’s an institution for a reason! The location is huge with tons of seating, and also has an adjoining winery. The food was absolutely delicious! The sides were simple, but very good. My absolute favorite thing I ate was the sausage, it was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. We will absolutely be back, and would recommend a visit to anyone looking for a great Texas BBQ experience!
The alternative to going all the way into Austin. Quite a festive atmosphere with the Halloween theme. Even at 2 pm on a weekday, the place was pretty mobbed. Still, plenty of open tables, though we waited maybe 12 - 15 min to be seated - empty tables all around us! I think they have to manage the capacity bc the BBQ pit looks like the limitations factor. We got bison ribs, pork ribs & brisket. The ribs were uniformly great: tender, flavorful, great bark. The pork ribs looked amazing (nephew wolfed them down without sharing), pink & tender. Bison was also great, tender without being too fatty. The brisket was also tender & pretty juicy (not dry like other reviews reported), but suffered from insufficient flavors, despite the sauces on the table. I think you can't really add flavor to BBQ meats after the fact. The sides (baked beans, coleslaw, potatoes) that came with the plates were meh. The potatoes were the best among the lot. A shame there were no greens whatsoever, but it's a TX BBQ, and I guess they don't consume greens much. Didn't order dessert.
Man, that was pretty dang good bbq! I’d heard that Salt Lick was all hype and a long wait. I’m certain that it can get super busy—purely based on the amount of parking spaces and tables they have. Wait wasn’t bad at all, 20 minutes. Food was great!! My wife loves lean brisket, she was so happy with her brisket! Ribs were so tender, sausage was fantastic!! And best part, the price was super reasonable! (You need to take out a small loan to eat at Terry Blacks!) Atmosphere was classic! Such a great bbq experience!!
The Salt Lick BBQ — the best BBQ I’ve had in Texas! The food was absolutely amazing — smoky, tender, and full of authentic flavor. The atmosphere made it even better: a true Texas vibe with a cowboy musician playing guitar and singing live. It felt like more than a restaurant — it was a whole experience filled with great food, music, and southern hospitality. A must-visit if you’re ever in Texas!
Absolutely loved this place! The food was amazing. Haberno chicken had a hint of spice and full of flavor. It was paired with the augratin potatoes, green bean casserole and some beans. The potatoes were so creamy and delicious. The best bbq that I ever had. We also tried the brisket and ribs. The place had a great vibe and service was fantastic.
Drove 1 hr late Saturday afternoon to get there because we were entertaining someone from out of town who wanted ro go there. I hadn't been in about 20 years. They expanded the place so they could handle more business so that was good, no wait, The problem I had was the prices - they're a little higher than I see around where I now live. We bought "small" plates for $14.95 and it was 1/2 slice of turkey and 1 slice of brisket. Around here we receive more for such a price. It's an interesting place with a good atmosphere but for me it isn't worth the drive as we have several BBQ places around here with good atmospheres. Service was very fast and the server was great. There is a gift shop there and our visitor from New Hampshire (she used to live in Austin a long time ago) did purchase a tshirt to take home to her husband.

WHAT A GEM. First impression? Way bigger than I expected. Second impression? My flight of beer was beyond delicious and the food paired with it was absolutely yum. (Beers: Barton Creek Gold, Dark Skies Black Pilsner (TO DIE FOR), Middle Trinity, and Lorenzo), Food: Cheese plate. Third impression? If you aren’t here on a lazy Saturday, Sunday, or even a weekday... what are you even doing with your life? After enjoying our drinks at the picnic tables under the old trees, we wandered the grounds. There’s a huge playground, a spacious beer garden, an intriguing apiary with info on bees, and an impressive farm where they grow produce for the kitchen. Yes... their produce, straight from the garden to your plate. Amazing. We took our time, soaking it all in—no rush, no agenda, just good vibes. Absolutely worth the drive. Towards the end, we got a special treat... we met the owners! Kent lit up when talking about the beer, how it's made, and why it’s special. On his recommendation, we tried a wine barrel-aged Stonewall with just a hint of peach. Mind. Blown. (Seriously, we grabbed some to go.) Karen, meanwhile, seems to handle just about everything else—including the bees. All in, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable, and the whole experience was just... easy. In the best way.
We brought a group of around 20 Belgian Beer lovers from all over the USA for an amazing evening at Vista. Our tour guide was THE Kent Killough. He was fun, vibrant and extremely knowledgeable about his operations. We had an amazing tour, guided flight, and dinner under a shady oak tree. All of the staff were amazing and the beers at Vista have upped the game for craft breweries in Texas.
A lovely brewery with a ton of open space, apiary, cows, organic garden, and tons of beautiful cedar trees with ample seating for everyone. They have a nice indoor space as well if it's too hot to sit outside. But the magic of this place is in the land❤️ Every beer we tried was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Vista Brewing has quickly become one of our absolute favorite breweries in the Hill Country — and for good reason! Every visit has been incredible, from the food and service to the beautiful setting that somehow feels both laid-back and elevated at the same time. The property is massive, with indoor and outdoor seating that gives you all the elevated Hill Country vibes. You can walk around and see their chicken coop and bee hives, which they actually use for ingredients in their food and beer (how cool is that?!). Everything here ties back to their focus on regenerative farming and sustainability, and it truly shows in every bite and sip. Even the meat they use is raised up the street from them and has fed off the grains from their beer! They serve up not just great beer — which has won awards — but also wine, cider and NA options, making it a great spot for everyone. It’s also super kid-friendly, with a kid scape area that keeps the little ones entertained while you enjoy a drink or meal. Speaking of meals… the food is next level! We’ve tried several dishes, and everything has been phenomenal. The fish and chips were some of the best we’ve had anywhere — perfectly flaky with a thick, crunchy batter. The Wagyu burger was out of this world — juicy, smoky, and cooked over a live fire. Everything down to the pickled veggies and sauces is made from scratch, and you can taste that attention to detail. They often have live music, daily specials, and friendly staff who always go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of. Everyone we’ve encountered has been welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly proud to be part of such a thoughtful, local operation. Vista Brewing is the kind of place that perfectly balances craft, community, and cuisine — and it’s 100% worth the drive every single time!
I’ve attended two events at Vista Brewing and they have both been wonderful! The Barrel Room is gorgeous with the rustic furnishes and wall-to-wall windows. The event coordinator made it super easy to host an event here. We loved that the adults could enjoy food/drinks inside while the kids ran around outside. Their food/drink selection is fantastic; we had such an awesome time! We will definitely be back!
Undoubtedly one of the most exciting beers menus around. Tucked in a gorgeous setting. Live music, kitchen, and a very welcoming environment.
Awesome drinks, foods, service, and ambiance! Indoor and outdoor environment and seating are great. You’ll love Vista Brew!
Not sure if this was just a bad day for them but the food took at least an hour to receive. We watched at least 10 people get their food that ordered 15-20 minutes after us. Our order wasn’t that complex either, it was 2 burgers. When we received the food some of the chicken was undercooked and the burger we ordered was sub-par at best. It wasn’t a great experience. That being said, the beer was great and the atmosphere was equally as good. Great place for families and kids. If their service/food was better I would gladly recommend but after our experience I’m not sure we’ll be back.

Nice little quiet park. Feels like a hidden gem in driftwood. Right across from the salt lick.
This place is very old and poorly maintained if you're RVing. We could not pull our RV through most of the spaces because there was so many low-lying trees and overgrowth. There are no facilities to speak of but obviously that doesn't bother some people cuz there's a lot of people here after we arrived. The bathrooms were poorly lit especially when you're going in there at night. The spaces are poorly (or not) marked so you don't know where you're supposed to be going? We were given the wrong information about the cost per night from someone who frequents this place often. We could not get any responses out of anyone by phone or email prior, so if that's important to you, just know that in advance Otherwise it's a pretty spot to visit if you're not camping there.
The parking situation is not clearly marked but it's a beautiful area. The creek was great for kids to play in.
Nice place, very pretty, fun rope swing....have to watch out for poison ivy, broken glass & (fish hooks in water) there's no sewer hook ups for campers either.
This place is nice in the sense it has a creek that's nice. Has electric and water and camping for tents and RVs. The bathrooms are ok, the toilets leak and the shower had bunch of dirt and leaves everywhere, it made me rather just use wipes until done camping. Also tent camping has always been $15 or $20, but apparently they went up to $30 March first says a sign on their gate but the website still says $20. So it was a little bit of a shock for $90 for tent camping for 3 nights. Especially when I've tent camped many places including beautiful places in Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico, with crystal clear rivers and amazing views and never paid $30 for tents. It's been a favorite in the past but if I'm paying $30 it needs to pick up the slack.
Great place to take the kids for an afternoon. The creek smells a bit but it's a free adventure so keep expectations low.
Our Family has its reunion here every June. During that time only our family, and friends are allowed in the park. Otherwise it is open two the public, and a really nice place to go to.
Very nice of this family to continue to share this beautiful place with us.

We went here for my bachelorette party and I am so glad we decided to stop. The food truck that was outside had some of the best queso that we have ever had. They were so welcoming there and they brought me a complementary shot glass and this flask in the picture as a congratulations to me getting married. It came in a cute bag with stickers and a note. We had never heard of sotol before and it was nice to be able to sample it and have it in a margarita. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery on the patio. They had big patio benches on their patio. It was perfect for the large group we had.
Desert Door is a must-try for drinks in the evening and a perfect spot to get together. Jesse's service was absolutely top-notch! We will definitely be back again soon to try more of the menu.
We came and did the distillery tour and it was AWESOME. Kate was the PERFECT guide! So knowledgeable and willing to geek out about the history of sotol. This made our trip, highly recommend!!!
Stacey and Hailey were amazing! They really knew their stuff and taught us so much! We had a special birthday for my husband and they could not have been more accommodating and kind! The mixed drinks are beautiful and delicious and the ambiance is very desert and modern. We love it!
I travelled all the way from California to have a Sotol Old Fashioned and it didn’t disappoint. The Oak Aged Sotol makes an incredible cocktail. The only thing better than the drinks were the folks who made it happen. Stacey and Hayley were so friendly and engaging. They were more than willing to share their mixology with us and made the whole experience a real treat. They even turned me on to a Gin influenced Sotol that made for a delicious, refreshing and very drinkable cocktail, The Scarlet Mule. I can’t wait to go back…
We went for the first time last night and the vibes were great. The staff was really nice and welcoming. Hayley gave us a great rundown on everything Sotol! We enjoyed the Sotol flight, she also gave us a little goodie bag since we were celebrating our anniversary and my birthday. Katie was helpful as well, she made sure to stop by and check on our table multiple times and gave us other food recommendations in the area since we came from Kyle. We’ll definitely be visiting again.
Me and my wife have been coming to desert door for along time. The drinks are great as always and the music. We have had a lot of waiters / waitress BUT Jesse is top tier for us. Chill bro, explained the drinks and flavor combinations and is just an easy guy to talk too. He definitely added to the chill experience on a chill Friday after a not chill work week.
Highly recommend the distillery tour! Kate was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions! We had a great time learning all about the harvesting of dasylirion to the making of Sotol. (Everything tasted amazing too!)

Great place to hang with friends and make some new friends too. Love love love the assortment of wines, mead, cider and beers. Delicious cheese board with other goodies. Fun games throughout the room and outside seating as well. Bring your puppy and de stress. We will definitely be back.
Lots of different wines, meads, beers and ciders from around Texas! Cute place with friendly staff!
Beautiful place that serves great drinks that are local ! Great new owners :) Take a bottle of wine or growler to Salt Lick that is right around the corner !
Love, love, love Hill Country Tasting Room and Elizabeth! Great local wines and amazing cheese board. Cannot be beat in Driftwood/Dripping Springs. I also planned a party here and Elizabeth and her staff were very accommodating and great to work with. It ended up being a phenomenal event, venue and all around perfect party! Y’all gotta stop by and check this place out!
Live music, super clean bar, great selection, super friendly and warm staff. Truly fantastic place. Headed back soon.
We had our private event there and the whole crew went above and beyond to make it a success. Thank you so much, me and the guest loved you all and your place
Hill Country Tasting Room is a cute bar with a fantastic atmosphere and super friendly staff. We rented out the venue for a party and couldn’t be happier with how it went. Everyone had a great time and the HCTR staff made sure it went off without a hitch. We will definitely be back!
Our previous rehearsal dinner plans feel through, so I had to scramble. Hill Country Tasting Room was one of the first to respond to my email. Their prices were super competitive, and the pictures of the space looked perfect. Deepa communicated with me throughout the process and even let us come in early to decorate. The photos do not do this space justice. It is absolutely adorable, with an outdoor patio and a balcony area inside. We had about 50 people all inside because of the weather and it did not feel crowded. The drinks (we got the all-inclusive package) were delicious, and the bartenders (Jacky, Karen and Neil) were wonderful. Jacky even helped us decorate earlier in the day. I can't recommend this little gem enough! You won't regret booking here!
