Breathtaking nature, clear blue water, and a peaceful vibe—don’t miss it! The Blue Hole is truly a hidden gem in the New Mexico desert! The natural beauty of the crystal-clear, deep blue water surrounded by rugged stone is absolutely breathtaking. It’s one of those places that surprises you with how stunning it is in person.
Visited the Blue Hole in New Mexico on a Friday. Parking was free that day (normally $10), and I even managed to park my truck bobtail with no problem. The place is amazing — very few people around, crystal-clear but freezing cold water, and you can swim or even schedule a scuba dive. There are picnic tables, a small museum, and a souvenir shop. A great spot to relax and spend quality time with family.
This was the best adventure for the whole family. It's 62 degrees all year round. and a see through lake. Amazing place.
My girlfriend and I stopped by here on a Grand Canyon Road trip in July. This place was a highlight of the trip. It was only $10 for a parking pass. The parking was right next to the hole itself. They have lifeguards on duty. There are picnic areas, bathrooms, and a gift store. The water looks amazing. I'm now planning on seeing blue holes anywhere I travel. It was also great that you can swim in it or even dive into it from the natural rock. We jumped in a couple times (cold water) and had a picnic there. We saw some scuba divers show up to go down it too. It's really spectacular to see and swimming in it was amazing.
It was a wonderful experience the day I visited. Alone at the waters, I jumped into the cleanest and most invigorating water of my adult life. Please don't miss this opportunity. It will make you smile.
The lake is not wide or large however the interesting thing about it is depth. I visited in winter but I imagine it’s great to get in a dive in the summer.
The best spot to swim in new Mexico . So refreshing. We stop and jump in every time we pass through. It's a family tradition
A very cool pool spot (pun intended). This blue pool is very cold that my body was getting tired after jumping from the top making them big splash. The more you do, your body will probably give up on you trying to swim back on shore and that happen to me one time without taking a breather or breaks. The water is so clear, blue, and also cold at the same time but it’s good to just chill at the pool from this heat weather. See some scuba divers qualifying for their license at this spot while everyone else is just chilling and some jumping on the pool having fun. They blocked off the chamber at the very bottom due to a scuba diver who passed away from going through the blue hole 194 ft deep and got lost.

7-17-25 I don’t know why, but I didn’t ask the ladies name that was working there today, shame on me, she was pleasant and should be acknowledged. Here’s to you, thank you. This was a bonus stop that you can only do when you are doing a road trip. I just never know where you’re gonna be. I love the history of Route 66 back in the day my family had a Hugh connection with that road. We’ve been on most of it, but not all of it and it’s always fun to hit another part. I’m not sure why I had to buy another hat, but I did. The museum was fabulous. Not just the cars, but all the paraphernalia, and the old signs were great.. I WOULD RECOMMEND
If you are planning a road trip down Route 66, you absolutely must add this stop. Probably in my top 10 of all stops along Route 66. We drove Route 66 from Illinois to New Mexico during Sick 66 Drag and Drive. This location is easy to stop at being right along side the highway. It has plenty of parking for cars or campers. Everyone inside is super friendly. When we stopped here there was a food truck outside. Not sure if that's a regular occurrence but definitely worth trying if they are on site when you visit.
Very nice museum & gift shop. Everything is neatly displayed. I enjoyed my visit & shopping in the gift shop for souvenirs. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area! They even have a few vehicles for sale!
The Route 66 Auto Museum in Santa Rosa, New Mexico is a hidden gem that every hardcore car enthusiast needs to experience. Packed with over 30 beautifully restored classics, hot rods, muscle cars, and vintage trucks, this place is pure passion on wheels. Founded by local legend James “Bozo” Cordova, every vehicle in the collection reflects hands-on craftsmanship and deep love for automotive history. It’s not just a museum—it’s a working shop, a visual tribute to Route 66 heritage, and even a place where some of the cars are for sale. From the authentic 50s-era vibe to the gleaming chrome and rich backstories behind each ride, it’s a must-stop for anyone who lives and breathes horsepower.
Loved this Route 66 Auto museum. Good Route 66 Merch. Clean bathrooms and nice people visiting and running the museum. It’s just off of Hwy 40 so quick visit.
What a fantastic place! I enjoyed looking at the old, unrestored cars. Each one has its own unique personality, unlike modern cars. I highly recommend visiting this place and taking a photo as a souvenir.
Nice exhibit of some really nice specimens. Good stop for travelers charging up and moving on. The propane turbo Edsel snowplow gets the award for most unlikely sequence of words today. Unusual!
Absolutely amazing place and great thanks to the people that run it. It’s been a lot of hard work to set up but it’s definitely paid off

What a great view! Quiet site. Lovely wildflowers. Clean bathrooms. We really appreciated the shade offered by the concrete shelter that most sites in the Rocky campground loops A and B had. No beach that we could find; just a boat launch. This was a fabulous place to stay after checking out the nearby Blue Hole.
Beautiful place. If you are tent camping and you want to be close to the bathroom, reserve a spot located near B26. Also, request a covered picnic table (in case it rains). Lots of stickers and ants so be observant of your dogs feet if you are bringing them. Great area to go fishing or boating. Really enjoyed our experience.
This is a large park with plenty of room between sites. The site I reserved had both water and 30 amp hookups available. There is also an RV dump station area, but I didn't use it. There are multiple trails in the park that are fairly well maintained. Unfortunately, the water level for the lake was so low that one of the trails to access it only led to a dry site.
2nd trip here each time rain forecast and each time we got a rainbow. Nice bathrooms with showers. Nearby attractions blue hole, route 66 sign. Ants are plentiful. Electric nice to have.
Nice state park. We were there over teh 4th of July . Campground was full. Many sites don't have water hookup , only electric. There are alot of campsites and minimal bath houses with 2 showers that share 1 area to dress and dry off. So privacy was super limited. There was always a wait to shower.
Feels like a bit of a hidden gem! It’s only about 10 miles off the interstate. Easy access to the sites and online booking and reservation. Restrooms with showers and freshwater access. Nice little trail to walk down by the water. I saw my first tarantula!
Beautiful and hidden state park. We stayed in A18, Rocky Point Loop A when passing through on our way home (Texas). Would definitely stay here again!
Was a great place to camp. Quiet in September after labor day. Would definitely come back :)

Try to go every summer here 😁 is one of the best summer experiences to be with the family, space for your grill the cooler and the family. It's also nice if you go alone the lake is nice and the blue hole is right around the corner. Good summer spot out here in New Mexico. Pet friendly 🐕
Fun for our kids (14/16) LOVED the Wibit. They enjoyed going back to the Blue Hole to jump off the cliffs. Your set up has to be done early otherwise you’re running to your car. There’s free parking on the street but the lot is 10$ for the day.
So much fun at a superb price! We have a ball every time. I love the kayaks to relax between climbing and jumping. Also, the outhouse was the cleanest I've been inside in a very long time - thank you for that. I had to change while my son was still swimming and I wasn't even scared to touch surfaces. Wow!
This is actually so much fun. We did all the things you could do at the lake. And we also went to the blue hole. Great time definitely recommend and will be back.
We were there from 9am till 3:30pm. The wibit was amazing, the boats were relaxing and we had so much fun in the slide! It was cheaper then we thought it was going to be and the food trucks were awesome! If you haven't been there then I suggest you go on a non holiday weekend! And get there as early as 8:30am to get a good spot!
4th of July display totally blew us away. Surpassed our expectations. Absolutely amazing. We had such an awesome time. We all have something no one can EVER take away… memories 💕
Very fun! Make sure you take a canopy, folding table and camping chairs!😁
Wonderful family fun experience! Inexpensive way to please all ages! Free diving board and small lake to swim in. Or go around to wibit and pay only $15 per person (plus $10 parking fee per car) and play all day from 10-7 on the bouncy house/obstacle course on the water. Life vests available for free! OR take the short stroll down to the world famous blue hole and jump into the chilly 62° water on a hot day, for free! Either way whatever you do it will be fun!
