The West Baton Rouge Museum is a great complex of buildings and history of the Parish. Because of poor planning on my part I arrived on a Monday and the main building was not open. Still I had a really nice time looking at the old structures and displays on the site and reading the plaques. I look forward to returning to see the remaining displays.
This museum is so informative and interesting. Each guide that we encountered had such great insights and even personal accounts aligned with their exhibits. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is open to learning about the past.
I always love coming here! Wonderful place! Love the tours! My favorite festival is the sugar fest. Food is good. Fun things to do. The activities. Good friends and family always there. You could go inside and be outside. Place is cleaned. There are bathrooms. Cleaned. I recommend x10
This museum was amazing. On site, they have actual slave homes, general store, and juke joint! No original furniture, but replicas of the type of furnishings for that time. The are is known for sugar cane, and the museum shows that history. Even a replca of a sugan cane mill. So very interesting and informative. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. This is definitely a must see if in the area.
It is an exciting place to visit and see the village with homes of previous era's, learn about sugar manufacturing, scientific breakthroughs and see fabulous art ... I had a most wonderful guide .. conversation was both insightful & delightful ...
Went with my daughter's 1st grade class here. I had been here years ago, hadn't been back in some time. They've added a lot new exhibits, etc. It's very clean, lots of great information about the town of Port Allen. The staff was great in engaging the children and keeping their attention. Sampling the sugar was exciting and taught the kids about the different types of sugars grown here. I'll definitely go back.
Great festival here. The museum has some parts to it that are very interesting. Blues section in the back and a sugar mill scaled to size in the front.
I love this place, and the stuff very great about the Guided Tour.its very awesome!!! If you don’t want there before, you must be go at least once!!!

They have an unusually tasty White Russian. I DO NOT like anyone's White Russian because they taste like watery skim milk, but theirs is SOOOO good. It tastes like cappuccino, caramel, and whatever other creamy goodness. You will NOT be disappointed.
This is a drive-through that serves daiquiris! Something I have never seen before! So many choices to choose from. Over a couple of days, I tried Creole Cream, Swamp Adjuster, and Hook, Line and Sinker! They were all yummy! The staff here were great helped me make a decision. I wish they had these at home!
I normally come to this location all the time At least three times a month but tonight when I came I was very disappointed with the customer service. We ordered two separate daiquiris And was told we cannot pay separately every time I come here I pay separately for multiple Daiquiris. I don’t understand why tonight I couldn’t pay separately. I don’t think I will ever return and I would never recommend This establishment to anyone.
This places is easy to get in and out of. My wife likes the Marie Laveau which to me is a sweet fruit punch sort of drink. There is a lot to see in the drive thru here that I should have gotten pictures of such as an outhouse and 🐊 alligator themed stuff. They have a reward program if I am not mistaken so you can fill up a punch card and earn free adult beverages. So if you're hot and want a cool drink to grab and go and be outside Swamp Shack has that for you.
They have a huge variety of daiquiris, which is really good until the next day because you know they all use cheap liquor, but they tasted really good
Baby these are the best daiquiris I’ve had. The ladies are always so nice. I just tried the Jell-O shots and I much say I will continue to get them.
Drive through only daiquiri shop. Don't serve food. Now to the daiquiris. THE BEST WHITE RUSSIAN EVER!!!! I drive all the way from Baker to get this daiquiri. 1/2 gallon extra shot of 190. Perfection. Now if you looking for something super strong to have you face numb try....swamp juice on ice. This drink won't even freeze.
I visit this place even when I'm headed to work! I love the Virgin strawberry colada. It's something good and cold on those hot days. When I'm off a prefer a lil bit of an adult feel to my drink and they make a good daiquiri. Staff is always Very nice and friendly! Love this place!!

Damn, what a spot. For game day there is no better place than right here at Fred's. What a great time. The bartender Mathew took awesome care of us and he ran the bar like a boss. How can it get any better when the big man himself is on the grill cooking all the steaks and his wife is keeping it straight on when you get your food. Great times and look forward to going back every time on game day.
I’ve been coming to Fred’s for years and usually love the place. The bartenders, music, and atmosphere are all great. Last night, however, I had the single worst experience I’ve ever had at a bar. I was invited to the VIP section by a friend celebrating their birthday, yet the bouncer refused to let me in. I offered to pay cover, but he said he was “told I’m not supposed to come in,” despite the person who invited me literally standing next to him insisting I should be allowed. No attempt to understand the situation, just a flat denial. I’ve never written a negative review before, but this was beyond unprofessional. Honestly, I guess it makes sense. When you’re 30+ years old and overweight working as a bouncer in Baton Rouge, you probably don’t have a lot of control over your own life, so you cling to the tiny bit of authority you get at the entrance. Shallow, empty existence aside, it’s just terrible customer service. That being said, I have nothing but respect for the management at Fred’s. As I said before, I have been coming here for years, and will continue to do so. It is recognized nationally for a reason. I would like to say thank you for the excellent service I have experienced thus far, but I would also like to voice my complaint for today, which left a very sour taste in my and my friend’s mouth.
Finally made it for steak at Fred’s on gameday! Family friendly in the mornings/afternoon, steaks were perfectly cooked and a solid base for a long day, and paired with Happy Dad set us up right!
Place to go for after football games!! I will say, it is quite a walk from the stadium, so be prepared for that. Lot of people and great vibes!!
This is where all the LSU students hangout on the weekend or after football games. They usually have good bands.
Great night with Shaq DJing!
Very fun college bar but that’s where it ends. If you pay with a credit card they charge a 20% service charge and a 4% credit card fee. Steak was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever eaten.
Music wasn’t great but the bartenders and employees were nice
