I've been returning to Sandy Springs Adventure Park for years. It is one of the best high ropes courses in the country (and I have been to many and directed low and high ropes courses at the Olympic Games). The courses are very safe, and their staff are well trained, teach well, and are responsive to visitors. The owner even came over and chatted with us, with no idea who we were. Day climbs are amazing and, as I discovered recently, evening glow events are magical!
If you're looking for an activity in the DMV area area that is not centered around food or alcohol, look no further! This a great activity for kids, but also thrill seeking and active adults. You will wake up sore the next day as you venture through the rope courses and zip lines. There is a difficulty level for everyone like all way to double black. As for me, I stuck to purple and yellow and made it through three courses in the three hours I was here. They have water stations throughout the park so no need to bring your bottle. Do wear tight fitting long sleeve clothing to minimize the chance for bruising and random cuts. If you just wanna bring the kids, there are a couple places to sit near the front. Staff was helpful and friendly throughout the park!
My boyfriend and I went to their Glow in the Park event on September 12 and had an absolute blast! It was a lot of fun and there are options for all skills/age levels. We’ll definitely be back! Be prepared for your arms to be sore the next day though!
Our family loves to visit The Adventure Park at Sandy Springs! It’s always a fun way to spend an afternoon enjoying the outdoors. We were there on the 4th and my daughter was able to complete her most challenging course yet. She left feeling proud of her accomplishment. The staff are super friendly and encouraging and really go out of their way to make sure everyone leaves happy!
Best high ropes course I've ever been to! They have a world class course built in a beautiful patch of old trees. All of the courses and equipment feel sturdy and well maintained. Fun for anyone, whether you're a beginner or a serious athlete! And the staff were all helpful and attentive. I'll be going back and taking friends!
We had so much fun. The courses have so many levels of difficulty, so there's a variety if you're brand new or an advanced climber. I definitely recommend gloves wether tou bring your own or buy theirs. Bug spray and water is a definite must have. They do provide water spots but I need extra hydration. Also maybe bring clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty, as it is an outside park. It was hot but once the sun went down it did cool off a bit and it was stunning. The sounds of nature and just being in the trees such a beautiful experience. 10 out of 10. We are definitely going back and trying to do as many and more difficult as possible!!!
This place is amazing! I went here with my students on a rainy day. Even though it was muddy and very slippery, we had such a great time. It’s definitely worth visiting, no matter the weather!
Phenomenal time to kick off our family birthday week! Our daughter was born still on May 23, 2004 and we went this year on her heavenly 21st birthday. Me, husband, son, daughter & her boyfriend had the most amazing time. I have Multiple Sclerosis so I was hoping to just do one obstacle and ended up doing 4. They're challenging and is a natural encourager of those who came with you! Physically challenging but what a great team building activity. We thoroughly enjoyed the GLOW in the Park!!! Happy Birthday to Nia (5.23), to my husband Sean (5.25) & Me (5.28).

Peace and quiet place where we do free meditation classes. Our class is at 6.30 to 8.00pm on first Tuesday.
Went to their presentation on Sunday. They exhibited many handmade cloth(fabric) black dolls, originally made by mother's who worked on farms and wanted their daughters to have dolls that resembled them. Impressive and remarkable exhibit. A group of older women attended that were part of the band Sweet Honey and The Rock. The band also played opening pieces for many other well-known bands and musicians in the 1970s.
I enjoy going to Sandy Spring museum for the holidays 2 years ago they celebrate la parranda it was amazing good music of the holiday in good Puerto Rican food..
I appreciated the free parking & donation based admission. I was delighted to explore the outdoor sculpture garden and walk through the gardens. A treasure I will return to again.
Beautiful venue for rental! The octagonal Dr. Byrd room is sunny and charming with exposed beams and wood-paneled ceiling.
Small, compared to other museums in greater MD. Nevertheless, it's quaint with an effervescent & vivacious charm. Plus, there are no tickets required.!
It is a local history museum but more importantly gives local artists a place to reherse/demonstrate their art work, including music and fine arts. You may find local groups gathering there, with music events etc. They have a big archive of local history and history of people, as well as artifacts.
We had our wedding and reception at the museum in April 2023 - it was the perfect location for our 100-guest event. We had the ceremony and dinner in the courtyard, with a tent (because of uncertain weather) and a very small dance floor. There was plenty of space for more tables if you have a larger event. We used the exhibit hall for the bar, the octagonal room for dancing, and the narrow gallery for the buffet. We used the library to get dressed and to store our things during the event. The entire space, both indoor and outdoor, was lovely and perfect for the event. Dan and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and super helpful. 10/10 would recommend!

Great small museum on the history of the farm and surrounding area. Was not able to visit home and trail; will come back.
Appreciated the education on this walk, brought history to life and I certainly thought many times of the runaway slaves who passed througg here. Sandy Spring was a nice little spot to rest and listen to the breeze. Beautiful area. Only negative...hard to follow the directionals. Some areas, like the segment of the trail leading to the old tree, should have had directionals.
Visited May 2022 and recommend this dog friendly trail.
Excellent 2 mile walking trail thru the woods. Nine marks on trail. The trail is not paved but it's easy walking. The trail doesn't loop. 2 miles in one direction. You then turn around and walk back 2 miles. Recommended. Bring water if it a hot day.
Such a beautiful trail through wooded areas and fields.
This was an incredible experience. An experience that will forever stay embedded in my soul. The look in my daughters eyes when she realized slaves had no beds or anything comfortable said 1000 words.
Group hike for Juneteenth holiday. The weather was magnificent. The hiking paths are well maintained. Fascinating history took place there.
We walked the whole trail and back, it was wonderful. Surprised to see such big old trees. We learned about the freedom seekers.

Staff was great. My kids and I had lots of questions and Debbie was patient and insightful. Definitely recommend this museum. MCPS needs to schedule more field trips here.
Wonderful museum. An incredibly powerful collection of buildings, artifacts, art, and most importantly stories. The fact that the owner made and maintains this museum on his own with the help of volunteers makes it all the more impressive! The staff was incredibly friendly, peraonable and knowledgable. Multiple touch screen and video exhibits througout. Picnic tables available. Very affordable and defintley worth a visit!
An impressive, small museum, with highly knowledgeable staff to help you learn about the rich history in that area. We further learned more during lectures provided by board members and others from UMD invited to speak.
My family and I had a wonderful experience at the museum all the staff was very welcoming and friendly I definitely will be returning and recommending to my homeschool group. Our visit was today 1/14 11am-1pm they even gave books and snacks at the end of the tour. I also plan to make regular donations to the museum to keep my ancestors history alive and NEVER FORGOTTEN.
Beautiful small place full of African and diaspora historic information and displays. The showcase leaves an impression on you. It elicits curiosity, and a range of emotions. it's educational. They also have a guide tour who are historical knowledgeable about the art pieces. One visit its not enough. At the time of my visit, bathroom was out of order. A porta potty was available, wheel accessibility was blocked not sure why but place is amazing. The outdoor show and displays are realistic.
The museum is opened Saturday-Sunday and admission is $10 per person. Admission can be paid online, cash, or CashApp ($SSSlaveMuseum). This is a well documented two story museum filled with genuine artifacts, not replicas inside. There are three structures outside; enslaved person's cabin, slave ship, and a Cameroon hut. The founder placed a lot of care and work into the museum.
Wonderful museum with a huge, beautiful collection of art and artifacts. Kind, informative staff.
I 💗 love this museum. There is so much history from Africa, to local Sandy Spring Family Trees, Genealogy, Ancestry and Underground Railroad history. I attended the Harriet Tubman Day presentation by NPS Ranger Angela Crenshaw from the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Park Visitor Center. She did a screening of the film "Visions of Freedom" and then a Q and A about the film. This museum is a must visit.

I've been coming here for a couple of years now. It's great that they offer Yoga Teacher Training! The yoga studio itself is nice and big so you never feel crowded in class and they have plenty of mats/blocks/bolsters/blankets to borrow, free of charge! It's a small family business, and numerous members of the family can be found working at different times. There is a bakery right next door so it always smells good when you leave! They are also one of the few studios around that offers Aerial Yoga which is super fun.
I absolutely LOVE The Spring Yoga and Wellness Center. The yoga studio is a clean, beautiful and spacious room with lots of natural sunlight streaming in the many windows. Have you ever taken a yoga class while watching it snow outside and smelling the amazing smells coming from the bakery below? Heaven, just Heaven! Ever tried aerial yoga? All of the instructors are highly qualified, knowledgeable, warm and friendly. They make each person feel welcome, respected, and part of the yoga community. The Spring also offers nutrition, acupuncture, CBD, essential oil, aerial yoga, and many other many workshops which are top notch.
I started going to the Spring Yoga and Wellness center in March 2017. The Spring studio is a lovely space to practice yoga. It's a safe haven for physical, emotional and spiritual healing and well being. They have a diverse group of instructors and classes that they offer for all levels. Since I have been going to yoga, about 3-4 days per week, my body feels so much better. I'm less tight and sore in my neck, back & shoulders, I feel stronger and more flexible and my mind is more at peace as well. I am so grateful to have found this place, they really help me control my stress and make me feel better!
This yoga studio is well run, professional and progressive in its thinking. The studio is light and pleasant to be in, especially wjen the smells waft up from the bakery below. The teachers are excellent. I was very stiff when I first started back to yoga but found the beginner classes gentle enough to gradually increase my flexibility and challenging enough to allow me to grow stronger and more confident. There is also plenty for the more flexible and athletic. It is a good place if you are looking for a yoga home.
I've taken classes at other yoga studios in Olney and Rockville over the years and The Spring is my favorite, no contest! The practice space is a large, airy space with lots of windows and a wooden floor that always smells fresh and clean. The teachers not only totally know yoga, but are all likeable and easy to talk to. There are classes on all levels (including "flying yoga"!) and an attractive discount for new students. At The Spring, yoga began to make sense to me in a way it never had before. This is a health-centered community with massage and acupuncture therapists, nutrition counseling, meditation classes, etc. on site.
I love going to the Spring! I've enjoyed both yoga classes and seasonal workshops (the winter health workshop was my favorite), but my favorite experience so far has been acupuncture. I love the calm pace of every appointment and never feel rushed when explaining the things that are going on with me. The atmosphere is relaxing and I feel better after every appointment!
I love the lunch time core buster class that Tanya teaches on Wednesdays. I tried it just on a whim a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it! I plan on attending it every week. I also go to Takisha's gentle yoga every Wednesday before Tanya's class. It's a perfect warm-up for Tanya's class. Those classes fit perfectly into my work week so I wanted to express how much I enjoy taking these classes and how much I look forward to going every week. I also attend Sarah's class on Sunday and it is just as amazing. Sarah, Tanya and Takisha are incredible instructors and do such a good job of teaching.
Excellent instructors, very relax and friendly environment. You will enjoy every single moment of your practice. I recommend to everyone come and try it.
