Aug. 2025: If you have read the Little House books, you will want to visit! So many things on display that you will remember from the reading. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff who clearly have a passion for keeping those memories alive. Great displays, availability of both houses on the property.
We enjoyed visiting the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum. The museum is a self guided tour that tells a lot about the history of the family. There is a large amount of items on display including clothing made by and worn by Laura Ingalls Wilder. We also enjoyed the family photographs and Pa Ingalls’ violin.
Excellent place to visit, if you're in the area. There's a museum and guided tours of the two homes owned and lived in by Ms. Wilder. The staff were very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. Admission is 18$ for the museum and guided tour or 8$ for the museum. There is a 3/4 mile trail that climbs and descends at 45°. Leashed dogs are permitted on the grounds, but bring your own waste bags.
My friend and I had a great day in Mansfield! We remembered our elementary school field trip to the museum (50 years ago?!?) Very informative, well kept, new museum and Rose’s Rock House wasn’t open back then. Well worth the drive and ticket price. I’m going to start listening to Little House in the Big Woods tomorrow. 🤓🤓🤓
I was very impressed by this museum., and the houses available for touring. These were The farmhouse and a stone house where Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the Little House books Little House books and lived the last years of her life. I haven't read any of the books, do I guess I watched the TV series. I guess this is one of 5 museums dedicated to her. I didn't realize how many times she had moved in her earlier life.
Great experience. Was a great opportunity for our kids who have read several of her books. The Rock House has a great history, and was a highlight not to miss. Tour guides are a wealth of knowledge.
✅on my bucket list!! Was so excited to tour! So, there is a main metal building that is like a visitor center/gift shop. It has a exhibit in the back of it that has a short video and tons of belongings on display. The Farmhouse is to the left of the building. Tours start at the back door. So amazing. The house is left just as Laura left it the day she passed. Both Laura & Manny passed in the house. It was built when Rose was a little girl. Nothing has been moved. 1/2 mile up the road is the Rockhouse that Rose built for her parents with all the “modern convenience”. She got the plans from a Sears & Roebuck. It would’ve been around $2,000 to build but Rose wanted certain things upgraded - it ended up costing $11,000 to build. Please read the brochures about the houses.
The employees were very knowledgeable and informative. The new museum is worth to see. Not far off Hwy 60 in Southern Missouri. Lots of little house on Prarie books. You can tour the home, for a small charge.

I attended the Flower Festival last weekend and could not have been happier or surprised with the experience! (I drove from Oklahoma!) My bonus daughter and I met my son there, and we spent a good part of the day just exploring, enjoying, and learning! The food trucks were amazing! The music was beautiful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the grounds were immaculate. Truly, it felt like we were at Silver Dollar City for gardeners! We meandered around the property, looking at all the greenhouses, booths, stores, and exhibits. We ended up making three trips to the car to drop off our new gardening goodies! We weren't expecting the various musical platforms, which sent our overall impression of Baker Creek Seeds even higher than it already was! We all came home happy, with full tummies and lots of tried-and-true (and many NEW) packets of seeds to try this year! If you are looking for heirloom seeds, knowledgeable gardening advice, and an exceptional experience, look no further than Baker Creek! (the drive may be to the middle of nowhere, but the roads that lead to it are picturesque and peaceful.
This location is about 50 minutes from where we live, and the trip was absolutely worthwhile. I decided to take my children after seeing it several times on Facebook, and we made a day of it. They rated the experience 9 out of 10 and described it as a great time. The staff were outstanding, and we look forward to visiting again.
Placed my order on Wednesday and received them Friday. That alone was worth 5 stars. I haven't planted anything but I've open a few packs and looked the seeds over and everything seems great. Count has been exact or over by a one or two on the packs I opened. Also, they had some varieties that I couldn't find any where else. I was working out what else to plant when I saw that they had what I needed. I do wish bulk packaging had been available but it's a minor issue. Plus they threw in free seeds. Hard to ever complain about free. Even needed some of the seeds for second plantings coming later in the year so it worked out perfectly. If the germination rate comes through, which I'm expecting it too, then this was the perfect deal. Hope to be adding those pictures in a few weeks.
I placed a rather large order of seeds and have been very pleasantly surprised at the Yield. We have already harvested our first batches or radishes, lettuces and kales. And are beginning out green bean picking!
Way off the beaten path down a dusty road is a green thumb paradise. An heirloom seed paradise. Set in an 1800’s era small town, you have a general store, mill and restaurant, blacksmith, opry, and jail. All active and working away to create quite the vibe. Wonderful place!!! (Rumor has it Martha Stewart is a secret shopper there.)
This place was a hidden gem! I would never have thought that such a beautiful place was tucked away in such a remote place. The grounds are stunning with so many flowers in every color you can think of. They have almost 1300 different kinds of seeds. I was blown away by the variety! There was a whole section just for corn and another for tomatoes in colors and varieties that I had never heard of. It was a fun place to visit. Also they have pygmy horses that are adorable and a couple of them are super friendly. I highly recommend a visit to this place. I know me and my family will return with a lot more time on our hands for another visit!
I decided I couldn’t wait for March so I started some peppers to try on my H2O system. I’ve been growing different peppers for over 10 years and can tell that these are very good quality. All of my seeds sprouted, and nice leaves are forming, all in just over a week. I love the videos and overall good vibes your company gives off! Got a catalog and it made ordering really easy. I will be getting a lot more soon!
To my gardening friends... While I do try to save many of my seeds, sometimes I need other seeds or my stock seems to be "less than". This year 2025 I ordered a lot of new stock from a company new to me Baker Creek, simply because I love their one guy that does a lot of their videos. He cracks me up lol. So anyway, all of their seeds performed beautifully (plus some). Except for my basil, which I really didn't think about and just attributed to my planting location. Anyway, fast forward to today's mail (pic) If you're looking for a good seed company I would more than highly recommend this one even if just for this unexpected display of their care and service!!
