Very beautiful. Take a few minutes to go tour some history I just loved it. I walked down the steps and along the water and watched the fast moving water off the rocks and walked through the bridge there is some nice information on the years built etc.
It feels magical with the open Bay Area of Wakefield down river. It’s only accessible by foot or bike, you’ll need to park on the road or local parking spaces. There is a set of stairs to get down to the water. There are also areas to sit on the rocks and go into the water, with rapid areas where people practice kayaking.
Biked to the Wakefield Covered Bridge — such a peaceful and beautiful little town. The ride was scenic, and the town itself feels like a hidden gem tucked away in nature. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon escape.
This a nice wooden bridge over the Ottawa river. Has lots of signs around explaining the history and build process. There's a walkway along the water where many people chill or have picnic. The parking lot is across the street, a minute walk from the spot. But there are no signs for the guests to know.
A very beautiful and charming bridge! Amazing views of the river, especially at sunset. A perfect spot for a walk and photos. Peaceful and romantic atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting!
Hidden gem, very beautiful and relaxing place with nice cafes, walking, canoeing and dining options
Nice, historic recreation. The original bridge burned down, and has been replaced by this version. Still a great place to visit. Beautiful scenery. Very impressed the bridge was replaced and in the fashion of the original.
It’s just beautiful, there are also some shops and cafes in the town centre you can hangout there!

We took the Pedal Boat out for the Maze and had so much fun! It was peaceful and relaxing. We saw some ducks, turtles and big fish. The steering was a little tricky so we were grateful for the paddle! Lots of laughs along the way! We would highly recommend this fun, unique experience!
What an excellent way to spend a few hours on the water, whether it's kayaking, canoeing, or on a stand up paddle board.
What a water maze! Beautiful natural environment. We had very nice weather. Everything was peaceful and quiet. It was exciting to follow the map along the labyrinthine path.
Well worth the excursion. Saw lots of nature while paddling. We'll laid out routes and friendly staff
Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, lifejackets etc available. Everyone had their own starting routes ie. Yellow duck so that there was no traffic or anyone to wait for or bump into . Well identified routes. Able to shorten route if needed to return before the final number. Ability to call the office if any concerns while on the water. Quizzes about sighting specific animals hidden in certain spots should be an added adventure for young paddlers who are starting to explore the outdoors with their parents / family
Our kids loved the place and the activities that you guys organized for The Fall Colors Festival. My kid was playing with reviews and accidentally rated you with one star. It’s obviously 5 stars! Thank you for organizing such an amazing event for families. We will definitely come back!
Best Time Ever! Went kayaking with two friends. Kayaks were good and good no dripping oars. Saw a a few animal (like beaver, turtles) not to bad for bugs. I did the the dusk early September. This is high on my do it again. (Side note I would bring a long sleeve shirt to help with the bugs)
Soooooo amazing!!! The place felt like being inside the story in a book. We didn't see any perseids but the place was awesome!

As someone who lives in Ottawa and who does not like to drive more than an hour to get to a ski hill, I have several options to choose from. Among the sites closest to me, Edelweiss is a great choice, as their runs are longer and a bit more challenging than many other hills. My family came here on December 26 and we had a lot of fun, as the conditions were ideal for skiing. I would happily come here again.
Great ski hill with reasonably priced rentals and lift passes compared to other ski hills near Ottawa area . The bunny hills are long enough for beginners to practice comfortably. Great customer service ,a special shoutout to Adrien who works at the ski lift!
Love this ski hill. Best one in the area. There's a fast chair lift. Good snow today and making more snow. Staff are friendly and helpful. Chalet is clean and meals very affordable. There is a tubing area which we went to last year but not open just yet this season. Lots of fun!
Went during the Family Day Holiday 2024, it was our first time there and we loved it!! It was only 30 minutes away from Ottawa. Not crowded at all even during the peak times. No long lineups and so the kids had many a great time skiing and snowboarding down the mountain. The prices were reasonable too—a choice between all-day and 4-hour lift passes. The chalet has a restaurant and bar which you can order hot food and cold drinks. We would definitey be back for the years to come. Already planning for the next season!!
Great snow conditions always... I am amazed every week I go how good the conditions are on the hill. It is definitely worth the few extra minutes to get there, and the small quick lift lines! Fun helpful staff! Solid snow park! Lines are short too!
2025 review edit: Pros: beautiful local hill with the best vibe and terrain within 40 minute distance from the city. Fair pricing for the passes. Cons: It is the forgotten middle sibling among les sommets hills. All the privileges go to Saint Saveur, and Edelweiss is not given what it deserves. Less and more lazy snowmaking, shortening a season every year for no reason, some trails are mostly abandoned or never open. Needs more snowmaking, and definitely needs another blue piste - there is only one, and it is right under the main chairlift. No electric car chargers. Closed 2024-2025 season way too early and abruptly despite very good snow coverage, deprived local passholders of spring skiing, and sent people to Saint-Sauveur. I am glad I had a full pass and an opportunity to drive 2 hrs away sometimes, but it is very unfair while the passholders of other resorts continued enjoying local skiing.
Dec, '22. Very good snow conditions, and lots of snow making going on, bit icy in one spot by noon. 3 major runs and 3 features in park open. Very little crowd if you get there very early. 2 lifts are running and well. By midday crowds, conditions in a few spots and mixed abilities start to slow things down quite a bit. For the price amd the lovely drive, a 4 hour pass is definitely worth it. The regular poutine apres ski was a bit of a letdown.
Not too far a drive from Ottawa. We went today on Sunday the 16th of Feb for snow tubing. Staff working at this section weren't stand outs except for the bearded dude at the top who pushes you down. He had some humor and did a good job making us scream when he spun us down the hill. The downfall of the snow tube activity was the queue going up. It was long and slow. About a 30 min wait for a run which was not fun. The food offered at the cafe was very average. We had poutine with soup. Soup (creme de legumes) was bland and watery. There was also a small piece of hair in it. *GAG* The queue to order was long and not enough staff to assist. The girl on the cash register was not friendly and didn't really respond to a gentleman in front of the queue with his question in English. Overall experience wasn't terrible but this resort could be so much better.

The breakfast provided from le hub is amazing delicious. Strongly recommended. Ski trails are smooth without any moguls. Easily to practice carving at here. Ski resort staffs are very friendly. Here is not busy comparing with other ski resorts.
Best ski hill in the Outaouais! Such a family friendly atmosphere. An absolutely amazing race program for kids. Fantastic grooming. Uphill ski (alpine touring) friendly. A great pub with excellent craft beer, delicious pub fare and reasonably priced. Centre Vorlage has it all!!!
I was at the venue to attend a bike work shop for the weekend. The meeting room was great for our purposes. Attendees had the option of camping in a nearby grassy field.
Hey love it's place it's a good place and the food is not that good food for me the ski hill is pretty view when I see Lol's of light all the chair lift are pretty good except the beginner chair lift
Great spot for family fun, especially young new skiers. It was a beautiful day and we got there as soon as they were open. It was not busy at all. Just the way I like it❤️❤️❤️
Decent enough learning hill with very accessible terrain for begginers or novice skiers. Great for family outings. Generally not overcrowded. New Management has got big plans for this place to diversify activities. Spot to watch.
Great beginner hill great for families. Great breakfast and not ski hill prices. The beer rail is superb lots of cool micro breweries, again reasonably priced. There is a fella there named Shane I think and he is an absolute gem, he should be the face of the place. Helped me out when my daughter forgot her ski pass at home. Saw us struggling to get through the turn gate. He took my name and went and got us a new one while we were skiing and let us meet up with him with the pass!
Great ski hill . Fun runs .. only issue is the chairlifts are spaced apart fairly large distances from the lodge and its very flat ground so get walking or skating to the lifts Cafeteria food is good .. good burgers and fries !! I wish they would play music outside on the loudspeakers .. music makes everything more fun !! All in all a great experience at Vorlage and we will be going back !

Nice course, extremely quiet, has some really long holes. Was here for a tournament, very well organized and pleasant experience. Really challenging course and the scenery is just incredible. Views of Edelweiss Ski and can always catch a deer on the course.
Enjoyed a great breakfast today; the food was delicious and service was prompt and attentive! Good size portions and very reasonable prices! Not to mention beautiful view of the Gatineau Hills/Edelweiss Valley and golf course. Will be back and highly recommend!
Dear Golf Edelweiss Such a wonderful day 9/15/23 ! 😎 Thank you sincerely to Gabby, Duncan & the whole Golf Edelweiss Team for the gracious hospitality. Coming from Vermont we truly appreciated your scenic (Hole 14 !!) & supremely well cared for Course. Playing the Back 9 was spectacular! Lunch at the Club House was fresh & delicious (Chicken Club & crispy Sweet Potato Fries). Thank you for the swag !! Can’t wait to visit & play again. Margie & Chip -
Had a phenomenal late breakfast with the family. Service was exceptionally attentive and fas, plus the staff were friendly, which included our server and the owner. The food was prepared excellently and everyone devoured their meal. We will definitely be coming back!
Awesome place for tubing, we had lots of fun. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. The only thing that disappointed us was the fact that one the websites it is mentioned (as well as photos) that there are 'family' tubes - with space for 3 persons. In reality, such thing didn't exist there. We had to 'chain' two tubes together by holding each other's legs while sliding down the hill. Luckily, we didn't have any incident, but I'm not sure how safe this 'tube-chaining' is. This is a major concern for families with very young children. Anyway, it was fun experience.
Apart from nicest views. Very expensive golf for probably the worst golf course in the greater Ottawa area. Major horse fly and bug problem. Might’ve had 15 flying around my head and biting me the whole round. Fairways, tee box, ruff are all beyond terrible. I would never recommend this course to anyone. Mont Cascade is 2 minute down the road for cheaper and a far far far better experience.
Played this course on my buddy’s wedding day! The staff was incredible and very accommodating. The course is in excellent condition, had a bite after our game and even came back the next morning with the wedding party for breakfast before heading out was delicious. Shoutout to Mike and Duncan for making this possible and giving us the best possible way to start a very important day.
Beautiful course with fun and interesting holes. The views you get playing here are unlike anywhere else in the area. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and I loved the fact that it is a family run business. The prices here are also very good compared to other courses in the region.

Spontaneously decided to visit the outdoor area (it was closed during a lockdown when we visited this site) and my phone's battery had run out, but we went to check out the sweeping vista of the amphitheatre. We also hiked up the Fairburn Community Trails in the shady forest along Chemin du Vieux-Pont. It was a pleasant 5-star surprise on a lovely day at the other end of the covered bridge. Might go back to see the displays sometime. Edit: Went back yesterday for a winter visit and get some photos before we leave the region. Musicians, imagine the backdrop of the audience for a show on that stage! Nice spot just over the bridge; Top 5 Wakefield Attraction.
It is a shame that the Centre is not currently opened. Peeking in the windows of the house, it looks pretty bare. In addition to the closed barn there is a one room school house set back in the lot that is Hendrick Parc. Though it is locked up a peek in the school house windows shows it to be fully furnished and reveals a lot of interesting heritage items. Following the trail upwards besides a cute little waterfall leads to an interesting trail that includes a steep ascent. If you are visiting the covered bridge the Fairbairn House parking is perfect to access the nearby bridge.
Nice, quite and beautiful. The place has small walking trails near by and parking which makes it perfect for families with young children.
A nice little historical spot in Wakefield. Not much to do in the winter months but it’s a great place in the summer for a picnic and an opportunity to hike and site see. The covered bridge is just across the street which is very cool and the views of the river are very pleasant.
Lovely, clean and very informative spot. Parking for the covered bridge for Wakefield. Hiking trails and swimming below bridge. Outdoor portable washrooms. Nice spot to have a picnic lunch. Heritage buildings on site.
Fun free escape room for small kids. Ask the ladies working inside the old home to book a time slot. Excellent pioneer days education for all ages. A great picnic area. Please leave them a donation for maintenance as it's all very well maintained. Only outdoor porta potty is the downside but it's a short drive to better washroom facilities.
There are a couple of pretty cool items on display. The old wooden stove was super cool.
Fun and fabulous historical place - offers regular live music nights, reinactments, a wonderful museum, a community garden, a barn also has a beautiful wooded area to venture in with a great seating area by a water fall and is in walking distance to the famous Wakefield Covered Bridge. This venue hosts many types of events for a very affordable cost - Festivals, Expos, Weddings, Family reunions, Birthday parties and much more.

We absolutely loved Captiva Farms! We did the 1.5-hour trail ride; the first 30 minutes were spent in the ring, just warming up with the horse and learning all of the basics. The staff are absolutely amazing—super patient, attentive, knowledgeable, and very passionate. You can tell the horses are well taken care of! The farm itself is breathtaking! It’s a massive property. We visited on October 14, and the foliage was so beautiful. The ride through the trail was just as stunning. My horse’s name was Scout, and he absolutely loved to eat anything and everything; he was such a character and made the ride so fun. Looking forward to bringing my mom back for a ride, hopefully before they close down for the season.
Amazing staff! Bilingual and friendly. 30 min of learning and 1 hour trail ride. Absolutely a fantastic day for a family outing. Bring a picnic and enjoy the country site! Also, the horses are friendly!
This is a great place to go for a ride. Horses are very well taken care of. Before the ride, they help you get up on the horse. Then they take the time to get acquainted with your horse while showing you how to start, lead, and stop your horse. The terrain is better than a leisure walk. You get to go through the water/mud. Horses have their own personalities, and it is fun getting to know them. At the end of the ride, they help you dismount, too. You can show up early and have a nice picnic too. Great day was had. ☺️
This place is awesome. They have a friendly reception cat and a lot of beautiful horses. We got the full experience of a calming chill ride through the woods and an adrenalin fueled gallop on horseback on the open fields. 🐎 Lili is definitely a gentle horse with a lot of horsepower under the hood. :) 10/10 would ride again. Perfect for beginners.
I recently participated in a horseback riding experience that unfortunately did not meet my expectations, especially as a first-time rider. While the session included a 30-minute training beforehand, I found it largely ineffective. The training was repetitive and lacked individual attention. It was structured in a group format, and although it was clear I was struggling with certain aspects, the instructor continued to explain things from a distance rather than directly assisting me or addressing my difficulties. During the actual ride, we were accompanied by three or two young guides, none of whom seemed particularly experienced (especially for mental aspects). I was especially disappointed with the lead guide, who I didn’t find being genuinely helpful. Her attitude came off as having a bit of an ego, and she didn’t offer meaningful support during moments when I was clearly having trouble. Only one girl came for help at some points. More importantly, I believe the program failed to consider the mental and emotional aspects of horseback riding…something crucial for beginners. This was my first horseback riding experience, and although I managed my stress reasonably well, the environment was not supportive in helping me feel safe or confident. For instance, my horse clearly disliked mud, and every time we encountered muddy paths, it would behave unpredictably. On several occasions, the horse veered off the trail, causing me to hit branches or come dangerously close to falling. In those moments, I expected the guides to intervene or offer guidance, but I found their support lacking except one girl. They didn’t provide practical advice beforehand, such as how to handle these types of situations or specific behaviors of the horses. Important details like when to hold the reins tighter or shorter depending on the terrain….were not covered. Instead, the focus was mostly on basic riding without addressing potential dangers or giving riders the tools to react effectively. In my opinion, this riding experience is not suitable for beginners. It would benefit greatly from more personalized instruction, experienced guides, and especially an approach that includes mental preparation and safety training. I would strongly recommend that the team undergo proper training themselves, particularly in how to assist inexperienced riders and understand the psychological side of riding. Overall, it was a disappointing and occasionally unsafe experience that could have been avoided with more thoughtful planning and qualified guidance.
We did the hour-long trail ride. You need to do the 30-minute mandatory in ring introduction first. We went through a beautiful wooded trail in the snow, at times the horse would go through deep snow, but they are so strong to be able to hold themselves up and you at the same time. We had an amazing experience and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We would definitely return when the weather is warmer.
Professional and simple setup. Easy to book and friendly staff. They gave a great lesson before the trail ride. They really love the horses and what they do. I enjoyed the lesson and the practice you are given to really get a good grasp on horse riding. The trail ride was a little too slow for my liking but it is quite pretty. Try not to go on on a summer afternoon as it gets very hot. You are not allowed to take anything with you on the ride, so I got quite thirsty. Overall, great experience.
The staff were really friendly, patient and helpful for the whole ride. The horses were very well behaved and well taken care of! Really enjoyed our experience and we will definitely be returning :)

I had an excellent service at Expédition Wakefield yesterday. I needed a part for my bike. I called and they confirmed they had the part and we are in the winter season! Great friendly service and my bike is back on the road. We are so lucky to have you in our area for parts, service and rentals.
Expéditions Wakefield is simply the best. I’ve bought two bikes here over the years, and both have carried me thousands of kilometers with barely a hiccup—just the occasional tube replacement you’d expect. The service is outstanding: knowledgeable, friendly, and always going above and beyond. I’ve rented canoes, and love their drive-in loading and full setup rental (with straps, life jackets, rope, whistles, bailer)—it makes the experience smooth and stress-free. Everything is high-quality, and well-maintained. I've bought and rented backcountry xc ski boots and skis and they've held up super well through excess use. Routine tune-ups in-shop are fantastic. Great stock of ski and bike gloves and socks. I've also bought an assortment of kids and adult bike helmets over the years and am always impressed they seem to have available in stock whatever I'm looking for. This fine establishment is my go-to for gear, service, rentals, gifts. Highly recommend!
Easy to book, amazing customer service, great location and really affordable. I have used them for years and have not had a bad experience to date.
Super friendly staff, helpful and giving very useful advice. The river is incredibly beautiful to explore by kayaks. Be sure to reserve at least 4 hours and bring swimsuits to enjoy all it has to offer
After some suggestions from friends, I rented Kayaks and hit the water for the afternoon. Service was 10/10. Jamie was helpful and kind and answered all of our questions and made some local recommendations. Highly recommend this spot for friendly, knowledgeable service.
A heavenly place worth visiting and spending time at on a sunny day. We did and had super fun
I absolutely love the bikes I bought. I bought my first gravel bike a few years back and am delighted I was steered to the Devinci Hatchet. Now I have a Kona Process Mountain bike as well and it's nice to be happy with the product and be able to have it serviced locally.
I went here for a bike tune up. The people were friendly. They got the job done in a few days for a reasonable price.

Quaint boutique with a large selection of candy, chocolate and fudge. Friendly, we would suggest you drop by to satisfy your chocolate cravings...
Delicious handcrafted confections. Quality of fudge comes with the price tag. Indulge !
Toffee dipped in milk chocolate is now my sinful favourite here now. Before that it was the home made maple and walnut fudge! (Yeah, I know... The package in the picture is empty. *Must* eat first, post after!)
I am down to my last serving of the organic hot chocolate mix (powder) and it is the one of the best I have ever had. Easy to make (just add milk and warm) and a generous portion (the bag makes about 20 mugs). Now I have to find a way to re-up. Update: I placed an online order for several packages of the hot chocolate because I know many people who will be thrilled to be gifted some. Shipping was a reasonable price and the box arrived in a few days with a nice note and some extra love! Merci, Sylvie et Marc.
Had the pleasure of trying Confiserie Wakefield's home made turtles! They were wonderful; my favorite there with premium chocolate and no skimping on the caramel! The nuts gave it the necessary crunch to bring it to sublime!
I called and ordered a Valentine's Day gift basket. They were great to discuss options and answered all of my questions. The basket we received was full of all kinds of great treats. Very happy with my experience and would recommend their products to anyone
Very friendly and delicious products. I bought the hot chocolate, the raspberry jam and the blueberry jam. The hot chocolate tasted homemade. It was rich, not too sweet and had a deep chocolate flavour. The raspberry jam was amazing, the blueberry was way too runny but the taste was there. They were both sweeter than I prefer, but that's a personal preference. They were really delicious otherwise and won't last long! I also picked up a mini fudge and it melted in my mouth. I wish I had bought more!

Attended the Farmer's Market here this weekend. Beautiful venue for the market with plenty of space for the various stands and customers (no big crowds as plenty of space to move around). The building looks well-maintained from the outside. Plenty of parking available on site.
Beautiful and well maintained space. Plenty of parking lots for visitors.
Vaccine program is well organized. If you can avoid it, don't go at lunchtime.

Beautiful place! Lots of hand crafted items by local artists. A must if you’re visiting Wakefield. It’s not your usual touristy gift shop at all. This place has gifts for all occasions. Check it out!
Faaaaaabulous store. Fabulous owner. Love Laura's T-shirts as an addition. The store is a great place to find gifts and cards and so much more. Thanks again for everything - including the wonderful conversation.
Very friendly staff. Small variety of locally-made products, as well as several gift ideas throughout the shop. A nice selection of unique cards as well. I finally found a reusable beeswax paper that I'm been looking for for months, quite by accident. I don't go to Wakefield without popping in to this store to see if there is anything new to discover.
Lovely local jewel of a gift shop, clothing, jewelry, cards, suncatchers, other neat gizmos! Recommend a trip to the lovely village of Wakefield to check this spot out...guaranteed you will find something for your home, garden, or gifting!
Great little gift shop with plenty of locally made items... lots of fun to browse.
Little souvenir store at Wakefield, nice selection and super friendly owner. Recommend it!
A very zen place. Nice little shop full of wonderful gifts for you and yours.
