Moorecroft is a large oceanfront park with nice level trails through cedar and fir forests to a large scenic lagoon and a high rocky outlook at vesper point. a pleasant popular place to dogwalk, or picnic at one of the many picnic tables. sturdy outhouses and easy parking.
It's a great little place with very well-groomed trails. The trails are easy but short. There are some hidden gems to explore. Great place in the summer to enjoy a picnic. There are plenty of picnic tables around the park. Great views of the straits. Plenty of parking. If you are looking for a challenging hike, then this is not your place, but it's still very nice to visit.
I walked this place for a year after a bad break-up. I attribute most of my healing to this place. The scenery is unparalleled. Lots of trails (just gotta know where to look) that loop in and around the park, with an area for off-leash dogs (yay!).
New park to me, and the dog. Clean, well kept. Dogs on leash only to protect habitat, but the trails are nicely kept/managed. Dog enjoyed a swim to fetch a stick. Picture doesn't do the park justice. Lovely place out of the way. Highly recommend checking it out.
This is a nice park with plenty of parking and picnic benches. Short easy walk down to the water that apparently I’d nice to swim in (at least the gentleman that day seem to think so) great views out into the bay and even caught a glimpse of some seals.
Perfect spot for a rainy day as the trail is covered by big trees. It takes about 30 min to walk the trail. The best views are on the ocean, but the whole trail is enjoyable. - There are lots of picnic benches spread throughout the park - Clean bathrooms with hand sanitizers - Enough parking for a park of this size
Didn't get a chance to walk around as much as I would like to as it began to rain and we had to cut it short. A beautiful washroom 🚻 compared to any other outdoor facility. The area is beautiful and there are plenty of great view points. Had the place to ourselves basically and that was nice to wander around at our own pace until the rain came. We saw either an otter or seal playing in the water and the kids loved it. Definitely want to come back and see what we didn't get a chance to. Highly recommended for just the part that we saw and I will update again when we return...
Great place to spend a hot sunny day at! To take a picnic and relax. The beach is quite rocky, so bring your water shoes. There are some picnic tables on the far side of the tight bay. Nice walking trails to the point lookout ir to the upper meadow.

We had a really great time. Course was well maintained, lots of deers and wildlife. We will definitely be back in the future. Great pace, 4 hours and 15 minutes, thanks Fairwinds ⛳️
Not what I expected. We had the first tee time and we go check in and the guy up front wasn't thrilled to be there and when I told him we've never played here before and asked where the 1st tee was he looked at me like I was speaking Latin. Weird way to start off. The course itself was maybe a 4 out of 10 condition wise. Nothing was mowed greens included. At least the had 1 worker cutting new cups. The course has potential and was in a pretty area just needs some love. There are a few weird holes that are extremely short and felt squeezed in. Then you get to a par 3 that's 240 yards kind of a weird layout. Other than that we didn't really see anyone else on the course and we played 18 in about 3 hours. Not in my top 5 on vanvouver Island
A group of 4 of us went for lunch in the reopened club house restaurant. It was not busy at all in the restaurant which seemed strange for a weekend and a much-needed new local restaurant. We were excited to have a place within walkable distance and were really looking forward to trying it out! Atmosphere is cafeteria-like but the patio is nice. The wait staff were nice and friendly but SUPER SLOW. Food is ridiculously expensive and came to the table after a long wait, cold and soggy, and tasteless. We had a pizza that was so cold when it arrived at the table, the cheese was rubbery. Beef dip was small and completely soggy from sitting, and the cornflake-crusted fish tasted like one big fish stick out of a box. We were sooo disappointed! Did the food wait and wait to be served after being prepared? Soft drinks had soo much ice that they were barely two sips of drink. Sure, refills were free, good thing, but trying to actually get a refill was another thing completely. The entire experience was really disappointing and completely underwhelming. Sadly, we definitely will not be returning and would not recommend this place to eat.
2nd last golf course on our 13 day Vancouver island trip. Pleasantly surprised, great course. Staff was very helpful and Vancouver friendly. Course was in excellent condition, a challenging course but playable. Will definitely play again when we are back.
For the highest green fee price from Nanaimo to Courtney I expect the course to be in better shape and to have at least gps in the cart, I’ll never spend my money here again such a disappointment 😔
Nice sunny afternoon, have a nice Mojito with delicious lunch, sit in a beautiful exquisite fancy patio and enjoy friendly service, nice golf courses for sure! It is one of the most beautiful places in Nanaimo that I want to visit again!
I don't golf. Just came to have a meal at the Club house. Great multi level patio on a hill, with view over 18th hole. Well worth the drive, and take the road all around the area.
Beautifully maintained course with spectacular views and friendly staff. Would recommend renting carts.

Highly recommendable Full Service Spa and hair salon fully renovated and under NEW Ownership. Billie Lewis provides outstanding customer care. Ambiance and Service are 1st class. Got excellent hair cuts and Reflexology treatment, also enjoyed some time in the lounge by the open fire place. Can’t wait to go back
Alyson was AMAZING at the spa today!! I had a Spa Pedicure, and she was attentive in every way possible! She even accompanied me to more privacy. I could not say enough good about Alyson!! I will be back to this Spa & Salon. Amber the manager is absolutely lovely herself!! 🙏💝
New GO TO!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! We followed our amazing nail tech, Courtney here, and OMG are we so happy we did! We were greeted immediately, By the most amazing NEW owner, Billie (she’s a CHERUB!) within seconds! She explained all the goodies that are offered, with zero pressure. Everybody was so welcoming! The scent as you are walk in, was just so intoxicating! Instant relaxation! The ambiance was peaceful yet inviting! We are on our feet ALOT! So a pedicure is much more than just being treated! We did a side-by-side pedicure, Courtney and her colleague,( sorry I don’t want to spell her name wrong) We’re both absolutely lovely! They fulfilled our requests, The entire time they were so friendly and it was great conversation as well! Everything was spotless! Comfortable! And just amazing! I can’t say that enough, obviously lol We were shocked, in the best way, That whatever service you use from this beautiful establishment, you get to use the amenities from the resort! 🤯🤯🤯 We made a whole day of it! We had an amazing pedicure, great conversation, use of the pool and sauna - had a drink and went home! WHAT! A! TREAT!!! And boy, did we need it! 🥹 We were both on Cloud 9 after walking out of there! We will definitely be there on a Regular schedule because we cannot get enough of this place already! Thank you to all of the staff there! Thank you for welcoming us with open arms! 🥰 Can’t wait to see you all again! (And yes I will bring Yall dinner ☺️😉🥰) Much love, Jenna & Clint ❤️🥰❤️
Quite disappointed in this spa. It’s recently under new ownership and they have a lot of figuring out to. The pedicure chairs are extremely uncomfortable and awkward. The staff (including the owner who did my pedi) seemed untrained and dont know how to remove and apply gel. I had to come back in to get a fix as there was a step that was completely missed. While the owner did provide a gift credit it was still a very awkward experience and felt like I was being a pest by coming back and was only offering the gift card cause she felt she had to. I had gel polish all over my skin, bumpy nails with particles that got trapped under the polish, an area on the side that wasn’t even painted (which in my opinion is not acceptable when your paying for a salon service). Would highly suggest trying other salons in the area.
What an amazing day. The spa is so nice, the decor and atmosphere where great, felt very at home. I havent had a massage that good in years, would highly recommend alyson but im sure the other providers are great. Front desk staff was very profesional and punctual.
We had a wonderful couples massage to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Much thanks to Archi and Alison who looked after us and created a memorable experience. Thank you.
Lovely!! Hubby and I went for the couples massage and soak in big tub after. Wonderful service and the ladies did very professional, informative and relaxing massages!! Thank you. We will for sure be returning 😘
My husband and I did the Romance Package for our one year anniversary. We were in town for our friends bday and thankfully they had an opening. The staff are super friendly and professional. I love that they were very clear on instructions on the services provided with our package. The romance candlelight soak was so wonderful, it's like falling in love all over again. Celebrating with champagne and chocolate truffles made it even more special. The massages was really good too. All my knots were taken care of. Patrick totally went above and beyond for my husband. Actually...I never heard my husband rave about how good a massage was. I highly recommend this experience! I do plan on coming back in the future.

I don’t see many reviews on here about the horse riding lesson part, But I just wanted to say that they teach you everything from saddling up the horse brushing the horse and then getting on the horse and getting lesson and it is a very well run place and they have very good instructors. I have julie as mine she is so patient and has such great energy and is always complimenting you or giving constructive feedback, I love going for my weekly lessons !
Great times! Booked over night camping for a group of girls with a trail ride the next day. Tented in a huge field with the sounds of horses not far off. Trail ride was a nice stroll through the property and surrounding area. Guides were amazing and kept group safe and organized. Explore areas you could only access on horseback or by hiking. Terrain was challenging enough to please riders with some horseback experience, but nothing too difficult for beginner riders. Horses were well behaved and had a specific pecking order as expected. Some required coaxing through terrain or surroundings they were not accustomed to (usually horses newer to the ranch). We did not get a chance to see the rooms so I can't comment on those. Passed by the accommodation building and the deck and area looked amazing. Will plan a night here at some point. Thank you Paradise acres for the memories. Three generations of women enjoyed themselves.
Today my husband and I enjoyed a 3 hour trail ride across the Englishman river along with 4 other customers. Bev, the ranch owner led the ride followed by Claire an extremely experienced rider. We felt safe at all times with lots of reassurance and instructions when needed. Bev always ensured all horses kept close together during the ride, even during trot and cancer times. So fun ! The river crossing was super fun and easy, the trails were beautiful especially this time of the year. The ranch horses all very well taken care of and it shows in their personalities. If you’ve never been to the ranch, I highly recommend coming, if not for a ride, come to see the beautiful property and horses.. OR the Pumpkin Fest early October. Thanks for an amazing experience! I’ll definitely be back 😇
I just want to start off by saying that this is my own experience and opinion. I booked the two hour trail ride for my friend and I. We got there around 12:50, making us about 5 minutes late to the ‘check in’ time. We called ahead to say that we’re going to be late and we’re sorry. Everything was fine, we got on the trail at about 1:30, due to setting up and getting on the horses. My horse wasn’t well behaved. I was at the back of the group because my horse didn’t like it when other horses passed her, which when they told me that at first, I didn’t think about it at all and didn’t mind being at the back. But my horse wouldn’t keep up with the group. The owner (our group leader) would keep yelling to give the horse a kick. Which I would do over and over again, but it wouldn’t speed up. ‘Steering’ the horse was very difficult because at times, she wouldn’t listen and would go off trail. I learned that my horse didn’t like other horses. Our group came across two others on horses. So my horse stopped following the group and turned in the other direction. I tried so hard to steer the horse, while the owner kept yelling to pull the reigns, which is what I was doing. The two others said that they didn’t want to get past me because my horse would kick theirs. We figured that whole situation out and moved on. About halfway through the ride, I noticed my saddle was lopsided to the left. The owner yelled to put more weight on my right side. I tried and guess what? I couldn’t, the saddle didn’t move and I kept leaning to the left. The horse would stop to eat the grass and the owner kept yelling to pull on the reigns. So I kept pulling on the reigns and she would yank me down with her. Over all, I was super frustrated and stressed out for the majority of the ride. I did listen to the instructions, but the horse simply didn’t listen. I don’t think this is the horse’s fault, it just didn’t want to be there. I just wish that I would’ve been given a different horse and not a “bratty” horse (the employee’s words). In my opinion, I don’t think it was worth the $196 that I paid per person. I’ve read some of the reviews on here and saw that the owner would reply and saying something along the lines of “your happy comments and smiles would tell otherwise”. At the end, I just wanted to get out of there. I didn’t saying anything, but by my demeanour, you could tell I did not have a good time. Now I wish I would’ve said something.
1 hr trial ride at 1230pm is not worth the 150$. Walked the horses in and out of the trees on the lane of the property. Most of the time was wasted doing circles in the corral as people were mounted on horses. Staff told us there was lots of time to take pics after but they rushed us off the horses for the next ride. Didn't even get a pic on a horse. Maybe the 2 hr trail ride is better and I think the other adults on this 1 hr ride were disappointed as well. Better for small kids. Don't waste your money on the 1 hr ride. Should be 50$ not 150$.
Went on a trail ride with my wonderful guide Magda !! She was friendly and we chatted the whole time. The horses were safe and calm but also happy to be out and ready to run! Thanks for a relaxing and memorable time :)
We went for a 2 hour trail ride. We spent around 1/2 hour in the ring getting comfortable riding and the rest of the time out on the trail. There was a mix of walking and trotting. The guides were professional and pleasant. It was a good time.
Best trail ride my wife and I have gone on. Horses were great, guide was fantastic and knowledgable. My wife and I had lots of fun.

What an amazing place to visit! Our first time here and we loved it. Beautiful views and a tranquil atmosphere put us into full relaxation mode. Not too many people here at all so maybe it's a local secret spot. Amazing time walking along the shore looking at the rocks and tiny crabs and fish. Seen some people fishing and others walking their dogs. Definitely coming back here for more walking around and seeing what we else we can find here. Highly recommended for a visit, hope to see you there 👍
So many living creatures down by the water on a low tide day 🌊 I was manifesting 1 sea star (or star fish) and we saw close to 50! Truly exceptional. Even on a colder, windy or rainy day, it's totally worth the visit! We went in early spring 🌱 and caught a glimpse of sunshine. The driftwood there is AMAZING. There's a massive log on the rocks that I laid on and felt grounded, connected and supported by the trees. Suggestion to wear gum boots, rain boots or some form of waterproof shoe! Going into the low tide water or the pools that show up between the rocks when the water is low tide is totally worth it! We also saw a crab! They're quite large by the beach and from what we assume to be gooey ducks? There were spurts of water coming out of the ocean and sand. We saw a few seals that day as well! Overall, adventurous! And the hike down was pretty easy - it was more of a short walk through a pretty flat forest. Once you get into the beach area, it does have some big rocks there. Grippy waterproof boots double suggested! And of course watch out for the slimy and or mossy rocks. They can be quite slippery.
Yesterday was my first time visiting and I didn't want to leave. The most amazing views and walk to the oceanfront. Very quiet, not very populated and perfect place to relax on the beach. Its easy to walk on the rocks and get super close to the water. Plus we were able to see some sea lions and they came pretty close to the shore. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit. I will just have to go visit it one more time before heading back to the mainland.
Off the main road, but so worth it. Short, easy hike down to the beach. Carefully walking on the rocks, though. I stepped on a slimy green spot and down I went. Besides the beauty of the surroundings, there were a few sea lions going back and forth, sometimes so close I could hear their exhalations). Plus, a bald eagle swooped over just as we were leaving.
Super cool little spot. Not many reviews so we didn’t know how much we would like this. But totally feels like a local spot. Watch out for deer on the drive we saw many. Kids loved climbing all over the rocks and picking up shells. Just a different type of beach.
Very relaxing seaside small park at Nanoose bay BC area. Please use caution while walking on those rocks especially during low tide times they can be slippery. Can see plenty of birds during Heering season. No washroom available in park. Nice views and sky is awesome during sunsets if partially cloudy.
Peace and tranquility is what you get coming threw here 💯 A peaceful beautiful place, a great area to enjoy the amazing sun, amazing ocean ❤️ sunbathing felt Good 😊 A nice little hike down to beach areas, with some benches around ❣️ Perfect 😎 it's beautiful out here 🔥❣️❤️💯🏞️😉
July 10/2023. Great spot for some nice views. On this side of the peninsula you face west in protected water.Low tide is best to hike around. A eagle was nesting high in the pines

We had such a fun and memorable experience with Captain Mike! The boat was great (fast, comfortable and very well equipped). Captain Mike was fun and energetic and very knowledgeable! We caught sooooo many fish!!! Thank you for an amazing experience! Highly recommend 😁
Wow!!! All I can say!! We had a 10/10 experience with captain Mike! Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, he was also so authentic and you can tell he loves what he does! We saw whales, eagles and so many fish! We caught multiple salmon right away. We were so impressed how professional he was and how much respect he had for the wildlife and the industry- it was truly unmatched! We can’t wait to come again next year and bring our kids along for the experience! Thanks again.
Our family had the pleasure of taking a sunset cruise with Captain Mike a couple of weeks ago, and it was truly one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had on vacation. We got lucky with perfect weather (sunny skies, calm seas, and breathtaking views), but what made the evening extraordinary was Mike himself. From the moment we stepped aboard, it felt like reconnecting with an old friend. Mike is warm, funny, and genuinely one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. He took us along a scenic stretch of coastline and past quiet islands where we spotted seals, bald eagles, and other wildlife. The whole experience was peaceful, awe-inspiring, and filled with laughter and good conversation. We stepped off the boat with full hearts—grateful not just for the beauty of the evening, but for feeling like we made a friend along the way. We’re still dreaming about buying that remote house on the coast (you know the one, Mike!), getting a boat of our own (we haven’t stopped thinking about that navy one in the harbor), and somehow becoming part of the incredible community that he and Kristi represent so well. If you’re on the fence, go. Spend the money. You will not regret it. We'll be back!
Mike is an awesome Captain and we not only had a great day on the water but had great success catching some delicious Salmon. As the best fisherman in the group I would encourage anyone looking to have this experience to use Haida Gold Adventures. Talk with Mike and you'll hear an extraordinary tale of success and personal triumph. Looking forward to doing it again.
Fabulous experience!! Loved the route Captain Mike shared with us… seeing most of the islands around Nanoose area! Captain Mike was entertaining, funny and a great guy to spend time with on the water! (Multi talented… artist, captain and professional golfer) Kristi, always answers the phone even on weekends! Very sweet and knowledgeable! My 97 year old Mother totally loved the experience!!! We will be back! Bean and Stewart
Captain Mike's fishing adventure provided us with an experience far above expectations! No idea how you took 4 prairie boys and have them fill up a cooler full of salmon. In addition to the amazing fishing, your personal story is truly inspiring! Take care and we hope to come back soon!
It is a great pleasure experiencing to be able to write a review following our magical crabbing/salmon fishing adventure just a few mornings ago. On the water with Haida Gold's Captain Mike in the magical waters off of Nanoose Bay is an experience not to be missed, if you are looking for something of this nature. While we are "local" (living at the foot of Cowichan Bay, about an hour south) we had been looking for our son's 16th birthday requested fishing/crabbing/boating experience and we are so grateful to have found Mike and Kristin based off of web searches and stellar reviews. Not only did we leave securing a magnificent birthday feast (my son is an avid crab lover and the salmon was the best I've ever had!) but we came away with knowing Mike a little more as a kind, diligent, humorous, enthusiastic and evidently highly skilled individual in many areas. A citizen of the Haida Nation, he is also a skilled carver (check out his IG @captainmikebellis for his extraordinary work). Thank you, Mike and Kristin, for this unforgettable experience with your company and please visit us down Island when you get the chance!
What a great day! They Kristi and Mike took us last minute and we’re so happy to make it happen for our family! Mike was polite and friendly and made everyone feel welcome on the boat including my 3&6 year old kids. My wife had never caught a fish and captain Mike took made sure she caught one! She’s still grinning from ear to ear. The boat is great! It’s big enough to accommodate the group! We will be back to fish with Haida Gold! Thank you again for the memorable day!
