The campground had pros and cons. We were on an accessible campsite. It had a guard kinda thing around the fire pit that i found super helpful. Especially because we had littles with us and it kept them away from it. Personally, i think it should be the case for all firepits. The playground was not accessible for young children at all. The accessible shower unit was nice and had a shower head on a hose, making it much easier to bathe. The womens accessible stall, unfortunately, would not close or lock. We appreciated the accessibility mat at the one beach entrance and how you could get to that entrance relatively easily from the accessible campsite. Overall, i would come again.
Overall, the park is a wonderful park, but there are a few drawbacks. The Trans Canada highway runs along the park. We could see it sitting on our site. We slept in tents, and the noise was enough to keep us up at night. Just check your sites location before booking. The sand beach isn't crowded and is breathtaking, especially in the early morning. The trails need work. Lots of muck to walk through, I suggest rubber boots. The beauty of the trails is second to none. We enjoyed our stay. As always, the park staff were friendly.
Our favourite beach in the area! Lots of nice smooth sand, shallow water for a good ways out for littles, gorgeous view. We have camped at 2 different spots and both were great! Our kids love the playground at the campsites. We always visit the park store at least once during our stay and they have a great little selection of local products and Ontario Parks branded items.
Such an adventure, we drove up here from Kitchener, spent the night in Sault Ste. Marie so we'd be fresh when setting up camp. Our site (one of the Hilltop sites) was actually quite large for a campsite. Our twnt holds 3 queen size air mattresses with walking room between and the site fits that tent, and our Grand Cherokee comfortably on half which leaves us plenty of room for the fire pit and picnic table. Could easily set up two more tents of the same size without being too close to the fire pit. The beach is incredible, it's huge and the sand is soft. There are a lot of rocks as you enter the lake so water shoes are recommended for people with sensitive feet. The water is especially cold right now, but we did brave it and spent about half hour swimming around before the cold got too much for the fingers. We will Absolutely return to this park in the future. We made reservations online which was nice because they do offer photos of every campsite so you know what you're getting before you even leave home. Best camping experience so far!
We had so much fun at Pancake bay this summer! This was our second time visiting the park. This year we stayed in the Hilltop Campground, site 46. This is my favourite area, with beautiful, spaced out, private sites. Previously, we had stayed on site 137 in the East Campground. I personally wouldn't recommend any of the sites right next to the highway, especially for tent campers (I think it would be okay if you had a trailer), it was very loud, almost scary at night when you are sleeping and it feels like the trucks driving on 17 are driving right next to you. There are so many sites to choose from, so there are definitely lots of options! The beach at Pancake Bay is absolutely gorgeous with white sand and clear water. The water is cool, but warm enough to swim during the hot summer months. Lots of beach access points throughout the campground, some with picnic tables available on the beach more towards the entrance of the park. There is also a dog beach near the West Campground. The bathrooms and shower facilities are well maintained and cleaned multiple times per day. Overall a beautiful and fun park to visit!
Site #151 very nice & clean campground just across the lake. It so soothing to rest at night w/ the sound of the waves. Close to the washroom (flush toilet & high pressure shower). Be mindful that it is close to the highway so better have sites close to the lake. There more secluded d site if you prefer. Also there’s a hiking trail.
Nice quiet campground that is a good balance of rustic and modern. A few comfort stations have showers and laundry along the campground with plenty of pit toilets which still have running water to wash your hands. Non-electric sites available for those who want a more remote experience. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit with a nice grill that covers half the pit and can be flipped back for a full fire. A beach dedicated to dogs is wonderful with picnic tables and wide open spaces. A small store at the entrance of the campground offers essentials for those who travel far and a general store/restaurant/ice cream respite is only 5 minutes up the road for anything you might want or have forgotten. The water is clear and beautiful and the campground is clean.
I loved how they gave bear safety guidelines! I spent the day at the beach, enjoyed a warm shower, the park rangers are super cool too and helped me fond my way to the bathrooms with a map! This was a spur of the moment outing and I will remember this for the rest of my life ♡

Gorgeous little spot to reconnect with nature. Walking onto the rocks 🪨 could be challenging to some but you are able to take in the waterfalls without climbing down. Awesome place to stretch legs right off the highway.
Beautiful river and gorgeous falls, water is so cold and refreshing! Stopped here in my bike ride to Alaska, took my shoes and socks off and dipped my feet in water. Sitting be the ricks, laying on them under the July sun listening to this ancient river tell its stories with lots of excitement is just heavenly!
These falls are beautiful to see but beware that the path to get to the falls in the bush is very rocky and rough with roots sticking out of the ground but it is well worth the walk. There are washroom facilities next to the large parking lot with easy access on and off of HWY 17.
Absolutely beautiful place to stop and see the falls, use the restroom and climb around on the rocks. Photos do not do it justice.
Much more beautiful than I thought. You can walk out on the rocks for more good views. Don’t have to hike far to see the waterfall. Rest area where you park has washrooms.
Pretty waterfall, short hike to enjoy. Pit toilets.
Nice short hike to the waterfall. Great place for pix
A beautiful place to stop and enjoy the sound of the falls!

Great beach for the family. Plenty of beach that you are not on too often each other family while there. Currently they upgrading the bathroom building which is awesome. Plenty of parking and space to enjoy the day in the sand and sun.
The Batchawana Bay Provincial Park is kind of open and kind of not open. There's ongoing construction going on here... But we were able to get in (the way wasn't blocked), and we were able to park, get out and walk around on the beach. The beach is kind of long. It's cold and windy. No one is around except for the 4 of us. It's quiet. There are some small birds playing around on the beach. It seems like earlier, someone walked along the beach barefoot. There are multiple picnic tables along the beach. My family tried to skip stones across the wavy waters. Highest score was 2 skips. Overall, chill beach. Views are nice. Was cloudy.
I was only there overnight, but the beach along the highway was lovely & it’s a beautiful area to drive through in September. I’d love to return someday & spend more time.
Went in the middle of the week, beach was nearly empty. Nice sand and clean water that slowly gets deep. Was a hot day and the water was perfect temperature for repeated swimming.
Great place to stop at and check the apple fritter was amazing. The fish was so tasty with fresh cut fries. Than the sovereign shop was great had lots of Hwy 17 stuff . But don't forget to just leave your footprints
Stunning beach, crystal clear water, warm and pure sand. Basically Cuba in Ontario. We absolutely loved this place. So worth the drive.
Stopped across the street for breakfast and the views from here were awesome. Nice to sit, have a coffee and listen to the waves crash against the shoreline.
This is my childhood memory, we would go to Batchewana Bay for family outings. Going back as an adult is a treat because its a beautiful place to swim. The water is not too cold, just right, you can walk quite a ways out as the sand bar is far out. It's all sand! There are some small rocks when you first go in, but all sand as you go out further. Lots of beach area, so there is always a spot. There is the park side which is where you pay, or you can park at Voyager's Station, walk across the highway and take a spot along the beach there. Looking forward to going back again next year! Also a must, visit the famous Apple fritters shop, you won't be disappointed!
