The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is a captivating destination for aviation enthusiasts and families alike. This museum showcases an impressive array of historic bushplanes, water bombers, and commercial aircraft within its expansive hangar. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of aviation by exploring the interiors of these fascinating planes or climbing to the top of a forest ranger tower to engage in playful firefighting scenarios. The centre also features three flight simulator theatres that promise an unforgettable experience for aspiring pilots.
We visited Canada for the first time yesterday and stopped at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Very nice and informative museum. Alot of Canadian aviation history in one hanger. Many planes to look at from small float planes to larger fire bombing aircraft. Everyone was very friendly. The facility was nice and clean and as a bonus, it had an entomology lab inside that had an array of of insects from small to large, along with several small reptiles. The lady that showed us some of the critters(I'm sorry I forgot her name) was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. If you make it to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada. I would highly recommend checking it out👍👍😊

Great collection of aircraft! I loved that you can actually board most of them and take a look inside. It makes for an immersive experience to be able to wander around the inside of the hull and take a stroll through history. I do recommend that the employees are coached a little better as there was 0 enthusiasm from the employees. We wandered into the insect exhibit and the young women inside wouldn't even make eye contact with us. I tried to smile at them but they looked away. A warmer reception from the employees would have made the experience truly memorable.

Came here to show my partner around the sault and its offerings. It wasn’t overly busy, it was us and a bunch of kids having a birthday party (with their parents socializing). It was nice to have the place (mostly) to ourselves but the kids were loud and running around mostly unsupervised (not the bush planes fault). There are some great interactive displays that you could scan with your phone and sift through hard board book like information. There’s quite a few planes to look at and even some that will let you get inside and take a closer look! We enjoyed the water bomber video experience personally. They have a little gift shop at the end with a few nicknacks. We also enjoyed the Entomica exhibit with the cool insects and bug displays, which can be found inside the museum. Overall a decent experience. I’d been once before. A cool place to check out if you’re into museums and haven’t ever been!

Great museum! We enjoyed our experience here. My husband was my tour guide, but there is a tour guide that you can download that is filled with info also. The store was great, too. Highly recommend when visiting Sault Ste Marie.

A lively museum. The insectarium is cool, and the museum itself is jam packed with aircraft you can touch. They’re all super clean and just beautiful to look at. Definitely recommended.
Daniel T — Google review
I attended a wedding here a couple of weeks ago, and the venue was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. The planes were so cool and I really enjoyed the insectarium. P.s: thank you to the childcare staff for watching over the kids so the parents could relax a bit. You guys were awesome.

We got the tour and it was excellent. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. There are also very interesting movies. And there are so many engines to look at!
K S — Google review
Museum itself is fine, plenty of information and such to be had next to all the exhibits. My one gripe is the political "elbows up" and "canada not for sale" merchandise available in the gift shop. A Museum is a place of learning, not a place of opinion politics. Do better. Whoever made this decision should be ashamed.

Embark on an unforgettable journey aboard the Agawa Canyon Tour Train, a renowned one-day wilderness excursion in North America. The 114-mile trip from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario showcases breathtaking landscapes including towering trestles, pristine northern lakes and rivers, and awe-inspiring granite rock formations. The train's large windows offer panoramic views of the rugged Canadian Shield, providing insight into the scenery that inspired famous landscape art.
I recently had the pleasure of riding the Agawa train, and it was an unforgettable experience! Sitting in the Stone Gardener car added a unique charm to the journey. The views of the breathtaking landscapes were nothing short of spectacular, with vibrant forests and stunning lakes that seemed to stretch endlessly. The large windows in the Stone Gardener provided an excellent vantage point to soak in the natural beauty, and the comfortable seating made the ride incredibly relaxing. The informative commentary enriched the experience, offering insights into the history and ecology of the area. Drinks, breakfast, lunch, and snacks all included in price. The 90-minute stop at the canyon during the Agawa train ride was a highlight of the trip! The breathtaking views of the deep ravines and rushing waterfalls were simply mesmerizing. It offered the perfect opportunity to stretch my legs and take in the stunning natural beauty up close. Walking along the trails, I was captivated by the vibrant green colors and the sound of the water cascading over the rocks. There were plenty of spots to take photos, and I loved the chance to explore the area at my own pace. The time allowed me to truly appreciate the serene atmosphere and connect with nature. Whether you’re an avid photographer or just looking to relax, this stop is a must. It added an unforgettable dimension to the overall experience of the Agawa train ride! Overall, the Agawa train ride was a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the stunning outdoors in a unique way!

It’s a long day but worth it for the views. We went mid September and the trees were changing and the views were incredible. It might be a bit boring at other times of the year. There are lots of times all you see are rock walls or trees. But when you come upon the lakes and rivers the views are spectacular. Food on the train was good and not overly expensive but a bit high. Some people did bring their own food but we followed their rules and purchased lunch on the train. We had breakfast before we left. The hikes at the midway point are good and relatively easy. We didn’t do the 300 steps to the lookout, but another retired couple we met did and said it wasn’t that bad The commentary on the train ride up was good but lacking on the way back. We would probably do the ride again if we are ever back in the area.

Great day to relax and focus on slowing down and enjoying the scenery. Staff are very helpful and provide great information along the way. They were able to accommodate our accessibility needs with a lift and seating in Car 9 closest to the lift. We did a family trip with a group of 8. Seats were padded and comfortable. Snacks and drinks on board. Even with a late season ride and rainy stsrt to the day, the colours were beautiful. Note for preparation, especially if you are in a group to arrive early, seats are not assigned. Staff are very helpful to accommodate seating requests after boarding.

Must try for all nature lovers. Fall (mid Sep to mid Oct) is the season. The tickets go fast. Also, it's best to time it based on when fall isbat peak. It's a 9.5 to 10 hour investment. 4 hours to go. 1.5 hours at the park for the trails and lookout. And 4 hours back. It's best to reach 30 minutes before, by 7:30 am as the train boards and leaves at 8 am The view is stunning. Pro tip: Team up with your copassenger to switch between the right and left side of the view. When you reach the park, walk along the train tracks for the falls, rather than the trails, it's much easier that way. The lookout has 330 steps. Overall a MUST attend.

Highly recommend, very organized boarding train. Views from both sides of train great scenery. Fall colors were great!!! On one of the web sites it says no food or drinks allowed!!! Wrong. Bring a nice picnic lunch and something to drink. You will be on train for 8 hours. Once you get to the canyon there are pucnic ti eat at. No concessions.

Embark on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train and discover a transformative experience that harnesses the raw beauty of Northern Ontario, inspiring a sense of wonder in those who travel through Sault Ste. Marie's breathtaking landscapes. Be prepared for a scenic journey, with a round-trip duration of 8 hours, divided equally between traveling to Agawa Canyon and returning to the depot. We arrived at the depot by 7:30 am, ready to embark on our journey by 8 am. Despite the crowd, the staff facilitated a remarkably smooth boarding process. We made our way to the lookout, where we were treated to breathtaking vistas that left us in awe. Although the fall colors weren't as vibrant as anticipated, they still displayed a orange-yellow hue with hints of red, serving as a poignant reminder of nature's ability to surprise and inspire us. 🍁 After taking in the breathtaking views at the top, we made our way down with a sense of urgency, driven by the ticking clock. We seized the opportunity to stroll along the train tracks and paused briefly to capture some photos at the river bank. The train's loud whistles signaled our cue, and we had a thrilling 10 minutes to snap a few final shots with the train front. Although we didn't have time to explore the waterfall, we left feeling invigorated by the experience. The train's food and beverage options were reasonably priced. Although the seats had limited legroom, we were considerate of our fellow travelers, sitting across from us. For future trips, I'd consider upgrading to the Stone Gardner coach, which offers a unique experience with its expansive rear window, complimentary meals, and comfortable seating. It is well worth the premium price of $500. Here are my thoughts on the train experience, highlighting areas for growth and opportunities for enhancement. One potential improvement for this train tour is allocating more time to explore the park, as the current 1.5 hours can feel a bit rushed. With so many attractions to see – including the 300-step lookout, two waterfalls, trails, riverbank, it can be challenging to fit everything in. The upgrading the train's seating, could significantly enhance passenger comfort. The train ride features insightful commentary that enhances the experience, offering a deeper understanding of the area's history and ecology. The train thoughtfully slows down at popular spots, allowing passengers to capture memorable photos. The staff, both on the train and at the station, exemplify exceptional service, showcasing genuine warmth, helpful expertise, and unwavering professionalism. Every query receives prompt, clear, and empowering responses. Their diligence in maintaining immaculate washrooms is truly commendable. Without the distraction of Wi-Fi, passengers can fully engage with the breathtaking scenery, fostering a deeper connection with nature. A remarkable display of integrity was demonstrated when the staff made a concerted effort to reunite a lost pair of sunglasses with their rightful owner. The breathtaking double rainbow that appeared in the sky was the perfect finale to our trip, leaving us with an unforgettable sense of wonder.

Really enjoyed the fall colors and the train ride. Would highly recommend. Next time I would pay the extra money to upgrade our ride. The upgrade means food and drinks are included along with servers. That way to don’t need to try to walk through the train cars to try and get to the dining car for coffee etc. while the train is moving. If you order a meal two weeks before that is delivered to your seat.
Jim W — Google review
Breathtaking views, uncomfortable long ride. Overall, I really enjoyed this trip. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking - without a doubt, it’s worth experiencing at least once. When I stepped off the train and looked around, I was amazed. Honestly, if I had only seen photos of the canyon, I would have thought they were photoshopped. Seeing it in person was unforgettable. But there are things that clearly need improvement. The seats in our coach were obviously taken from an old airplane and simply fixed into the train, with foldable trays like on planes. For a long journey - four hours each way (eight hours total on board) - the seats were uncomfortable, and they were placed too close together, leaving very little room for knees. And because we had already spent more than 10 hours on the road before boarding, sitting that long in those seats felt even tougher. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for older passengers as well. Another issue is the short time at the canyon. We only had about 1.5 hours there, which wasn’t enough to fully enjoy the place. The highlight is the waterfalls and the climb to the local lookout point - but with such limited time, you’re either rushing or missing out. Extending the stop would make the tour far more rewarding. One thing I really liked was the monitors in the coach showing a live feed from a camera mounted on the locomotive. It felt like standing right at the front of the train, like on the bow of a ship. The idea is fantastic, but the execution needs work: the video wasn’t smooth (more like a slow slideshow), and the screens were small. Larger, better-quality screens with smoother video would make this feature truly amazing. PS: I also want to mention the staff, both on the train and around it - zero complaints. They are super friendly, helpful, and professional. Whenever I had a question, I got clear answers right away, just a great team. And another positive detail: there is no cell service along the way, and the organizers did not provide Wi-Fi. That meant no clowns shouting on FaceTime or WhatsApp and waving phones around. Everyone simply enjoyed the trip and the views.

The Art Gallery of Algoma, established in 1975, is a non-profit public art gallery located next to the scenic St. Mary's River. It features permanent and changing exhibits, educational programming, and a variety of facilities including exhibition spaces, an education studio, a cafe, and a gallery shop. The gallery houses a collection of Group of Seven paintings that were inspired by the rugged landscape and Great Lakes shores of the Algoma District.
This time of year, when they have Bon Soo, that's when they have their members exhibition showing. It's the best one all year round. With so many great artists in the city, it makes it so well-rounded of an art show. Worth seeing hands down. Beginning of February to the end of March.

What a great show hung in the gallery this time around!! Always love visiting this place if not for the public showings then just to browse the gift shop. Always worth a visit.

Pretty small gallery, 7$ entry seemed pretty steep compared to other galleries I've been to. Not mad, just surprised for what you get. Gift shop is really good considering location and size. Very well priced and extensive options for gifts. People were nice, and they even have a small place to get coffee, etc.

Such a great museum with very informative and creative displays! They also have a very cute gift shop for local souvenirs. Both Hannah and Ric were awesome.

Attended the museum for a special music night, it had a lot of interesting exhibits and lovely performers. My favourite part was the gift shop, it had free art kits and neat vintage buttons. I wish there was more signage to help direct the flow of people. Overall I enjoyed my visit at the museum!

It was a bit off putting trying to buy tickets with two employees laughing and cackling so loud in another office that we could not hear a word the person taking our money was saying. No idea what they were watching that was making them laugh so loudly. Too bad they weren't spending their time correcting all the spelling errors throughout the museum. Shocked to find errors in critical dates. The museum has a large amount of interesting items and photos. Too bad the management does not proof read before displaying. Still, it is worth a visit. Hopefully this review will help improve details.

Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site is a remarkable destination that showcases the ingenuity of 19th-century engineering. Established in 1895, this historic canal was once the world's longest lock and the first to utilize electricity, serving as a crucial passage for vessels navigating between Lake Superior and Lake Huron while avoiding the treacherous St. Marys Rapids. Visitors can explore its fascinating history through guided tours, stroll along scenic trails, or rent bikes to enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Totally enjoyable afternoon- with such a beautiful park that brings so much history. There is a grassy area to relax and it offers picnic tables. We walked over the bridge and enjoyed the trails. Then went to the end of the road to see the emergency swing bridge. So glad we stopped in for a quick afternoon walk. Definitely planning more time next time.

We took the Famous boat tours boat 🚢 with the adventure pass. It was a beautiful day with friendly staff. Super informative. What a beautiful lady she is. You could tell she loves her job and she was funny. Nice fresh breath of air. They offered snacks and drinks. Got to learn about the locks, the soo, and the Canadian side of the locks. On our way back there was a boat bobbing in the water. They have a no one gets left behind code and without hesitation went to see if they were in need of help. Everything was okay but turns out the boat was not starting. They immediately dispatched help. Wonderful group of people ❤️

Visiting this historic canal was an unforgettable experience. The combination of natural beauty and rich history makes it a true Canadian treasure. Walking along the canal, you really get a sense of its importance in shaping the country’s past, while also enjoying stunning views and peaceful surroundings. The pathways are well maintained, perfect for walking or biking, and there are plenty of spots to stop, take in the scenery, and learn about its heritage. It’s both relaxing and educational—a must-visit for anyone who loves history, culture, and the outdoors.

The visitor center has plenty of interesting exhibits that explain the rich history of the canal, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. It’s a perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon — whether you’re interested in ships, history, or just looking for scenic views. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

Nice walking paths. But if water level is high, some are not fully accessible. They are narrow and rocky. Not for bikes or strollers.

I Love ❤️❤️❤️ going for walks, it's so Beautiful The Chickadees are very friendly and it's amazing to see my Daughters eyes when a bird lands in mommy and Daddies hand . Then there's a certain place we call chipmunk 🐿️🐿️ land There also very friendly and have a sense of awareness that they're safe. People that always always make sure they go and feed. I know. I believe there's a rule but it's helped. So many people get through a hard day at the end of the day. It's a great place just to go and have a great walk. If you are someone who likes fishing, there's some really good spots, I am hoping to find more pictures to post of the chickadees and Chipmunks eating or get out of hand. They're little feet touching. Your hand is very unique. 😍😍😍

Breakfast restaurant
The Breakfast Pig is a popular breakfast spot in Sault known for its all-day breakfast menu featuring locally sourced pork. The eatery has won numerous awards and offers a variety of hearty breakfast options, including unique holiday specials like Mini Egg waffles during Easter. The 5-0, a grilled glazed donut with bacon and cheese, is one of their creative dishes. The restaurant prides itself on using 100% local pork and other locally sourced food products.
One of the restaurants you must visit if you are in the SOO. Highly recommend. The food is really good, it is good value for money, with any dish you will get full and satisfied. There are two parking areas, one next to the building, and the order next to the traffic light PROS. Good value for money. Very good food and service. Varied and rich menu. CONS. Sometimes you will need to wait for a table Parking lots are usually full.

What a unique atmosphere and menu. We enjoyed our entire time in this establishment. The staff was knowledgeable regarding the gluten content in the menu items which is important to us. The pricing was fair for the quality and creativity put into the food items. We will visit again.

Even though I’m from here originally, I still hit up Reddit for the recommendations to check out for those non local. It was my partners first time here so I didn’t wanna disappoint. I’d been here before once or twice in the past but it had been awhile and I recalled it being too busy. By some stroke of luck (and adding ourselves on the waitlist via google) we got a seat five mins after parking in their lot. Our server was very lovely and attentive. The menu here is quite vast and it’s easy to get overwhelmed with options. Despite being tempted, I went for the classic- a two egg, meat and potatoes and sourdough breakfast. I also opted to add a side crepe. My partner got the breakfast poutine. The grilled potatoes are my recommendation. They were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Had an amazing flavour. The sour dough isn’t quite like homemade sourdough but it was still good and the size was hearty. I loved the crepe. Perfectly cooked and the local maple syrup made my French heart happy. The portions are huge so I didn’t finish it all but I definitely enjoyed it. My partners breakfast poutine was great too. He added a side bacon, cut it up and threw it atop for a meat option. I really liked that they put shredded cheese in along with the curds! Their drink of the day- an iced peach green tea- was refreshing and just right. Near the end the restaurant was packed with a huge waiting line, and it did cause service to become a bit delayed but a little gentleness and patience goes a long way, especially considering how tasty the food is. Would recommend and would return. Note: please don’t park like a rectum, perpendicular to vehicles parked properly in the lines. It makes it real difficult for us with larger vehicles to pull out of.

Farm to Table says it all!!! The breakfast pig is the place to eat!!! Everything is top quality and local. There is definitely a chef in the kitchen. Top quality menu, service, atmosphere, and food. The sour dough bread and homeade strawberry jam is just one added gem to rave about. We were in town 2 nights and ate here both mornings. Wish we could take this restaurant with us on our travels. Highly recommend!!!

This breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The pancakes are a MUST try. The service was very fast and the place wasn’t super busy, it was quiet which is nice for a restaurant. If you’re in Sault Ste. Marie I 100% recommend trying this place

Ernie's Coffee Shop, a beloved Sault Ste Marie classic for over 40 years, recently changed ownership but still offers the same classic home cooking and comfort food that keeps locals coming back. The menu features seasonal dishes like squash crostini with chili oil and house-made ricotta, as well as 24-hour brined, pressure-fried chicken and pan-seared lake trout with a crunchy potato stack.
During our stay we stumbled across this little cafe near our hotel. Wow. Great vibe and absolutely delicious food. You may need to wait awhile for your food but it well worth the wait. It was so busy we had to eat at the bar. Recommend getting reservations on the weekend. The chicken supreme was absolutely delicious and Caesar salad the best we have ever had. My husband really enjoyed the Mary’s Blue Chicken sandwich. Will definitely be back.

Ernie's means something to the city. Its packed, all the time. SSM has tons of good italian food, but Ernie's fills an otherwise big void of interesting and creative pub food. No one else in the sault can really do what they do. I've liked everything I've eaten here. The Caesar salad in particular is the best Ive ever had. The shrimp toast and chicken sandwich are two of my other personal favorites. Their pastas leave a little bit on the table, but thats not why youre coming here. Try to call ahead for a reservation - especially on the weekend. When you show up, you'll find a place with a cozy, approachable vibe with welcoming and attentive staff.

Stopped here on our way to Batchawana Bay and had a great time! Such a cute spot, staff is really nice, our cocktails were delicious and the food was super tasty! The shrimp toast and the asparagus special were are favorites of the meal, but everything was great. The portions were pretty big for us and we unfortunately didn’t have room for dessert but took the rest of the food with us and it was a nice snack later on :). We’ll definitely be back if we head through Saul St. Marie again.

Came in from out of town and found this place because it was near our hotel. The menu is small and somewhat limited but the food is excellent. Well seasoned mains served in very generous portions. We would have had dessert (they looked superb) but we were too full to consider it. Staff are friendly and accommodating and service was quite quick. My one issue is thee noise level which is absolutely intolerable at peak hours. It was impossible to have a conversation at normal volume which is frustrating. So we enjoyed our tasty dinners more or less in silence as any attempt to speak was drowned out by the rest of the room. Bring ear plugs.

Used to love this place (under the new ownership) but due to their massive popularity I think a lot more negatives are showing up. I understand it's a small restaurant but these issues are now creating such an unpleasant dining experience that I think we won't be coming back, sadly. 1. Prices have gone way up. From Sept 2024 to now, the price of the chicken sandwich has changed from $16 to $25?? Jeez. 2. Walk-ins are nearly impossible, with many empty tables around presumably waiting for reservations. Sitting at the bar sucks quite frankly, it's cramped and loud and there's an AC unit pointed directly at it that blows freezing cold air directly against the back of your head. 3. Charging $40 per person for people who can't come to your reserved booking is insane. We had a group booking of 7, 2 were unable to attend due to last minute sickness. We informed the server and she shuffled the table so they freed up an extra table for two. Now my friend is being charged $80??? More than two entrees? For the two who couldn't join us. Absolutely insane. Very unimpressed and probably won't be back which is very sad considering I've been singing Ernie's praises for years now.

Was told to come here by a local and absolutely loved it. We had the squash and gnocchi as our mains which were amazing. For desert we had an affogato and creme breule which were great as well. Recommend getting a reservation as they are very busy, but we got lucky with bar seating. We would love to come again!

John continues to make Ernie’s the go to place for local, seasonal and exceptional cooking. He will give you some traditional options but focus on his changing menu. It could be fresh fish, lamb or a beef specialty- but it will always be top notch. Hard not to be filled up with a soup, salad or appetizer and miss dessert. But you have to fit in the Spanish cheesecake which is a classic and always on. Note: some of the pics are from a birthday dinner I had there - so dishes were family style. I literally told him to surprise me and feed 14. He made oysters Rockefeller which were out of this world. All my out of town guests were blown away - and still talk about it.

Restaurant
Chummys Grill, a beloved establishment in the Batchewana Bay First Nations community, offers classic dishes for all meals of the day. This restaurant in Sault Ste Marie is open from Tuesday to Sunday, but it's their fish-fry nights on Thursdays and Fridays that attract the largest crowds. Renowned for generous portion sizes and welcoming service, Chummys Grill has gained recognition beyond its local following.
Service was excellent the waitress was very friendly, atmosphere was wonderful, carvings were amazing, food was absolutely delicious and arrived within 10-15 minutes of ordering the food. 10/10 would strongly recommend trying this place

Visited on a Thursday and lucked into Chummy’s famous fish fry. The pickerel was delicious: tender, lightly battered and served in massive portions. I took two of the four fillets home for later, but managed to finish the tasty thick-cut fries. The place was packed at around 6pm. It took a while to get seated but the vibe was warm and humming with conversation. Glad to see this Batchewana First Nation restaurant thriving. Best food I’ve had in Sault Ste. Marie so far.

Stopped at Chummy’s Grill during our road trip from Vancouver to Toronto — what a hidden gem! The food was fresh, homemade, and absolutely delicious. Clean space, fast and friendly service, generous portions, and fair prices. We may never return to Sault Ste. Marie, but we’ll always remember this amazing spot. Highly recommend! ❤️

Stopped in for breakfast during my Great Lakes swim tour on our way out of town and WOW. Maybe the best breakfast I ever had! Best home fries, amazing homemade toast, local maple syrup, great service, warm atmosphere, and very good prices. Will absolutely return when I come back to commune with the mermaids in Lake Superior <3 Really interesting and unique menu too. Regret not trying the "scone frybread".

Walking in, super cool vibe. Wood carvings all over and nice people. The place has suitable space for booths or tables, your choice. Food was solid , onion rings didn't disappoint. The small Caesar salad was enough for 2 people as an appetizer. The deep fried pickles " were good, they were deep fried pickles " -- the gf (( I don't like them, hard to swallow )). Had the pulled pork sandwich which held up, like a solid 7/10. Can't complain, I expected worse. And the FRIES are solid ✔️ To add, chief burger is crazy in size, the burger is enough for a Man (( add cheese, remove relish, add pickles )) Service was cool, didn't have to ask for more napkins or anything. Also didn't kick it us out after close.

We’re new to the city and decided to try Chummy’s after reading its glowing online reviews, and it did not disappoint! We’ve already been three times, and it’s quickly become our go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. The eggs benedict is outstanding. The hollandaise sauce is exactly how I like it, and I appreciate that they ask how soft you want your eggs cooked. I love a soft, oozy yolk that isn’t runny, and they nailed it every time. The home fries are also excellent, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and lightly seasoned. My husband has loved the omelettes and french toast. Service has always been friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere feels both cozy and welcoming. The restaurant is spotless and inviting, and with it being so close to home, I know we will be regulars here for a long time to come.

I have not been here for years, but today was phenomenal. The portions of food, the quality, and the fantastic hostess/server named Kaitlyn she was amazing. I will definitely return and highly recommend this establishment. I sure did miss it.

Unfortunately both service and quality of food has not been good this visit. Med heat chicken wings were very bland, no spice no taste, barely coated. Service was extremely lacking, 10 ppl in the restaurant, other waitress tending to her tables, 15 minutes after finishing our meal, found our waitress asleep at a staff booth.

Really great experience! We had Abby as our server - she was super attentive and bubbly. The chef Dan came out and personally that adds so much to our experience, just goes to show how much his food makes an expression on his guests. Overall great dinner & food was 5/5! Definitely will be back.

Embers is an excellent restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is great. I wish the prices were a little lower but this is what you pay for premium food , service and location I guess. I really enjoyed the seafood / oyster bar and their drinks are so delicious.

Figured we would give Embers a try, we have some friends that go often. We were very disappointed… restaurant was not busy took forever to get food. The Beet salad was the best part of the meal. Usually do not order steaks when I go out just because they are never up to par in my own opinion. When you see a Penokean Hills farm steak on the menu & dry aged you would think there is a good chance you will be getting a steak you want.. $70.00 for the steak before HST I will leave the photo with you to judge and see if it was worth it. $250.00 dinner and just personally would never go back.

Delicious meal with friends! Shared some apps, the charcuterie boards are amazing here and would recommend the zucchini fritters. Our server Brandon was great, he was very attentive which made for a nice dining experience! Burger is always a good choice here but tried the French dip this time and would get it again. Enjoy the mussels here as well with the dill cream sauce. Will keep coming back!

Myself i had the salmon and i have to say the biggest piece and the best tasting salmon it was candied on both sides i could eat it all the time . Super disappointed. Ordered the “house specialty” - 10oz pork chop. Small portion, and didn’t come as described. “Served with cranberry herbed wild rice”. It was actually long grains and wild rice, right out of an uncle Ben’s package with a couple of cranberries and way too much butter. 2 stars because the pork chop was really good but small - All of us left hungry, after finishing everything on our plates. The price was not worth it.

We dined at Embers On The Ridge last night for the 2nd night in a row and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, but what really made our visit more special the 2nd evening was our server, Brandon. He was AMAZING. He was prompt, attentive, had a great sense of humour, made interesting conversation and just had an overall awesome personality. I highly recommend requesting Brandon as your server when you make your reservation. If we are ever back in Sault Ste Marie, we will definitely be making a stop at Embers and asking for our favourite server!

Italian restaurant
Arturo Ristorante is a charming Italian dining spot located in downtown Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. The restaurant offers a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with a compact menu featuring chef's specials and a snug bar stocked with an array of wines. Owned by Chris and Tom Comegna, the restaurant has gained popularity for its authentic Italian cuisine, reflecting the owners' passion for food.
Absolutely delicious! Baja shrimp, gnocchi, ravioli, caprese, wine, cocktails… wow! We have a lot of friends in hockey who travel from Ottawa up to the sault and all they can talk about is the food in the Sault! Being from there, it makes me really proud when people come to my hometown and are absolutely blown away by our Italian restaurants. When I mention, my cousin got married at Arturo, of course it was “We love Arturo!!” My only complaint is we don’t have an Arturo in Ottawa! :)

Our first time at Arturo's was a celebration for my mother's birthday. At our request, they were able to tuck us away in a semi-private space at the back of the restaurant. Our server was the co-owner Thomas. He was fun, very attentive and made a lot of time for us, without being intrusive. The food was excellent. They offered a steak and pasta special that I'm still thinking about. It was a Friday night and the place was buzzing with an active, but not too distracting atmosphere. Highly recommended. We will definitely go back.

After days of traveling from Vancouver Island, I was craving a truly satisfying meal — and Arturo Ristorante delivered beyond my expectations. I called ahead, a little worried that my road-weary, disheveled look might not fit the atmosphere, but the host immediately put me at ease, kindly telling me, “Don’t worry, there’s no dress code — just come in and enjoy yourself.” That set the tone perfectly. I took a seat at the bar, and enjoy myself I did. With eight stunning pasta options on the menu, I couldn’t choose just one. Luckily, my bartender Tom — as gracious and hospitable as he was gorgeous — suggested a split order and guided me toward his personal favorites. Best advice ever. The chefs are absolute wizards. The homemade pasta and sauces were so exquisite they nearly brought me to tears — truly one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had. I ended with the tiramisu, a dessert that managed to be both rich and airy at the same time, the perfect finish. What a heavenly spot. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Thank you, for such a beautiful experience.

Started us out with bruschetta and olive tapenade which was good! We weren’t that hungry but wanted to come here. We shared the calamari and mussels in white wine both were good. We had an arugula salad which we had them switch from blue cheese to goat cheese (very accommodating). Salad was good but lacking something…they didn’t give us the pine nuts nor did they substitute or ask. Anyways, they did take some money off after I asked. Why did I have to ask??

We, a group of 7 out-of-towners who had just rolled into town after an 8 hour drive happened to stumble upon this restaurant on Sept 15. We did not have a reservation, and Tom the owner, offered us bar seating. If we were ok with it. We were glad to take that offer, and were not disappointed. Tom looked after us from start to finish, and went out of his way to make us our personal cocktails based on our preferences! Even showed us the longest pepper mill he had :) Amazing food and most of all awesome service! Thank you for taking care of us Tom!

Stopped here during our drive from Calgary to Toronto. Best meal on the trip. We were greeted and seated right away. The service was excellent from start to finish. The meals, from starters to deserts were incredible. Not a single missed step. Some very creative dishes. Sault St. Marie is lucky to have a spot like this. If you're anywhere near this establishment, go pay a visit, you will not regret it! Thank you!

An unexpected elegant twist - absolutely do not judge a book by its cover! (Only reason I rated 4-stars for Atmosphere) A very unassuming and simple exterior in the downtown area. Small but very very good. Making reservations might be a good idea. I travel for business and stumbled across this spot - I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to experience this awesome Italian cuisine! Food all tasted great! Very nice atmosphere.

The food is quite good but the service was absolutely abysmal. I didn’t catch the waitresses name but she was a slim brunette 20 something who has no business doing that job. She was utterly horrendous and is a liability to a place that is otherwise quite good (albeit overpriced for the quality). They had started her off as the bartender and then had her waiting tables. She does not belong in the service industry. Absolutely terrible.
