Got to meet the Chief, Mayor and government officials! Wow! UVIC, U of Alberta, UBC, SFU, U of Calgary represented! Beautiful facility! As a mother of teenage daughters who want to be doctors, this makes me happy!
Worth a visit just for the view you get from the library of the harbor & ocean beyond.
A wonderful educational experience! Great lab facilities. Cool live specimens. Access to WiFi. Clean accommodations!
Most amazing experience ever happened in this facility at Bamfield. It was a one and half month long marine course from University of Alberta. Sticked with only 4 other students and 2 professors for the entire course and learned the most amazing marine lives around the area. Fabulous experience and intensive studies. The cafeteria had some decent chef and cooks to prepare meals for all students. The lecture theatre was also well equiped for anything professional lessons. The dorm was decent size and clean as well. Definitely recommend the fellow students to take courses here at this place. You will never regret.
Wonderful place. Great food, people, and accommodations for researchers
The Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre is an educational centre and a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to education and research. It is affiliated to some of the prominent universities of Canada. It promotes research in marine life and has a large laboratory. The residential campus can accommodate a large number of students and there is an excellent cafeteria as well. During our short visit to Bamfield in August 2019, we did not have the time to visit the campus but viewed it from the Bamfield Inlet on the eastern side.
Loved shooting a wedding here! The Rix centre is a beautiful space with tons of light and the views from here for sunset are magical.
I have taken groups of high school students for a week of marine studies many times. This was a fantastic facility and great educators. Highly recommend.

I was always told it was fishing and not catching. But with Ken, it is definitely catching and not fishing. We got our limit of fish in three days
Ken is a gem - we booked his accommodations for 3 nights, and added a last-minute fishing expedition on our last full day. He doesn't normally book accommodations without a fishing trip. The accommodations were in the log cabin, with very high ceilings and bright. It is technically a basement, but still has wonderful views of the water. 3 large bedrooms, each with a double bed and set of bunk beds. Great kitchen and living space. Very clean when we arrived. I didn't partake in the fishing, but he took a group of 3 out and they had a blast. Caught the limit of salmon (2/ea) in a short time - a second group of our friends was taken out by someone else (not affiliated with rocky point or ken) and only caught a single salmon in a longer period of time. Clearly he knows what he is doing. We enjoyed our stay in Bamfield and highly recommend Ken for both his spacious accommodations as well as his fishing prowess!
We caught two nice halibut and a bucket of spot prawns! Plus it’s a sweet boat, great gear, and a very personable captain!
It was great got a ton of fish!
Caught lots of fish
