Worth the visit! Lovely little museum with a collection of Finnish history. Lots of interesting artifacts. We enjoyed talking to the docent. She told us a lot of interesting stories about the past.
Interesting Museum with information regarding the settling of Malcolm Island. Several cultural artifacts, pictures, maps, storytelling and knowledge of who, what, when and why! Especially lots of Finnish settlers are highlighted. Loved this treasure found!
Excellent covid safe welcome and in the winter it was easy to make an appointment to visit through a couple of text messages. There are three rooms which take you through geology, First Nations and Finnish settler history. The artifacts give you a good view of social life as well as working life, and the cultural roots. This is definitely worth a visit.
Terrific museum. Admission is by donation. I enjoy the way it captures the fabric of everyday life at the time including the social activities and old newspapers. While the collective dream was short-lived, those that stayed created a resilient, vibrant community. In addition, as someone with Finnish heritage, it brings back memories of growing up in a place filled with Finnish immigrants. Always a pleasure to visit.
Learn the Utopian history from Finnish descendants managing the museum!
This was a very worthwhile stop and extremely informative as to a wide scope of history of Sointula, before the Finns arrived, and their story. Many wonderful artifacts on site and stories posted behind where they came from. Will have to visit again just to absorb the amount of history contained in the exhibits.
It's a small Island, if you are a bicycle lover then you take a bicycle in rent. I would advise you to reach early in the morning along with some breakfast and lunch for your day. The Sointula Museum is small but it has vast history to explore.
Great museum. Learned so much and Kathy was so kind and friendly. Definitely worth a visit to this museum. They have some lovely books and gifts too.

Rented the e-bikes for 4 hours, so worth it! We got to see the entire island in those 4 hrs. At one point one of the bikes handle bards came loose so we called and a person from the resource center drove out with Allen keys to come fix to ensure we had a safe ride back. They even offered to compensate us for the inconvenience but just having them come out to fix it right away was good by us. Highly recommend the e-bikes and riding out to the lighthouse. Great spot for lunch. But so is Bere Point!
Always a great experience yaking with the knowledgable long time workers. News and up to date island info.
The lady working was very informative and helpful to plan our visit to the island. Thank you!😊
Very friendly and helpful, but the free bikes are rough..
It had what I needed, knowledge of the Island and bikes to use for free to toodle around. Friendly.
Very pleasant people here. Informative and helpful!!! Thank you!
Friendly well informed staff.
