We had the best tour at Manuel Antonio National Park. Michael did a wonderful job at spotting and calling the animals. Most of them we would have never seen ourselves. He knew about all of the animals and also gave information about some trees. He also helped us take incredible pictures with our cameras. I would highly recommend.
Our guide did a great job of finding a wide variety of interesting things to see - sloth, monkey, snake, spider, butterfly, iguana, plants, crabs, termites. Our guide took great photos using his zoom lense and my iPhone.
Michael is absolutely amazing! It is obvious that he knows his stuff and loves to share it! Our tour with him was informative and fun! Because of him and his keen eye for wildlife, I got to see so many wonders of beautiful Costa Rica. I can’t wait to visit again.

We spent almost 3 hours here, warm waters, soft sand, amazing sunset. The kids enjoyed the warm waters. We did pay to rent beach chairs and a canopy.
Beautiful beach with rocks and a long shoreline. A lifeguard is also there as the rip currents can get bad. Lots of tide pools when it's low tide. Close to shops and restaurants and Manuel Antonio national park.
Beautiful beach. When visiting, park around the Igloo Beach Lodge. It’s free and there are no pushy parking attendants. There are some vendors walking around on the beach, but they peacefully continue when you decline.
We had an amazing time at Playa Espadilla Norte in Quepos during our May visit. This stunning beach offered the perfect balance—waves that were exciting yet manageable, though it's important to stay vigilant as Costa Rican beaches can have powerful rip tides. The beach atmosphere was lively with local vendors offering fresh coconut drinks, horseback riding experiences, and handmade clothing. The vendors were respectful and moved on politely when we declined their services. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We recommend bringing your own beach towel, though chairs and umbrellas are available to rent at reasonable prices. We lucked out with beautiful weather before the rainy season kicked in, making it a memorable beach day.
Best beach experience ever. Kids had 3 hours of surfing lessons and loved it. The instructors where phenomenal. They cared for the kids and taught them well. They definitely personalized the whole experience. We got concierge service with beach chairs and umbrella. The drinks and food were phenomenal too. Absolutely recommend this place.
Loved this beach! We got drinks from a vendor at the entrance of the beach and had a great early afternoon on the beach. There’s an LGBTQ beacon towards the middle of this beach and I wish I had more energy to check it out! Looks like they’re building a LGBTQ resort nearby. If you don’t have a car, I recommend going to the southern end of the beach more towards Manuel Antonio national park because this area is more for guests who are parking on the beach. The fumes from the trucks weren’t pleasant.
Good beach for free parking! Lots of beach space where you can pay for chairs or walk down and sit in the shade. Parking is free but you can buy drinks or food from vendors on the beach.
Public parking near Buena Vista Plus hotel. The beach is clean and beautiful. You can get everything you need for a full day here. Chairs, umbrellas, boogie board rentals. Sure lessons, and restaurants right on the beach for drinks and food.

Very nice place for tourists. Stopped in and did some local shopping on site. The shops were all clean and friendly. The area was very secure.
Right in the heart of the central pacific of CR there is a world class marina with full of amenities for locals and visitors; with wide options of food, stores and to just minutes from all the facilities at the little town. The place is well care with a good maintenance in general. The parking lot is paid with a good security and easy access for handicap.
Great Marina, recently expanded and tons of room. Restaurants are good, and the convenience store has everything. The Marina store has a lot to choose from so bring your wallet.
There is a free parking garage if you want to visit this marina. It's nice however it's very 'tight' as far as room to manuever into parking spaces. The marina is pretty but nothing really special. We had assumed there would be more stores and shopping than what is actually there. What was there, including a couple of restaurants, were pretty pricey. We were going to eat there but decided against it.
This is a cute place if it's what you are looking for. There are some high end yatchs to look at and dream of perhaps "one day I will have a friend who owns one of those." There are fishing themed stores cause why not. Great views of the marina, cute chairs to sit in, and some restaurants offering high priced foods. It's something to do while in Quepos
Absolutely worth it! The view and atmosphere were scenic.
Best marina I've ever been to. The staff are so helpful and nice. Everyone in Costa Rica is so happy and helpful.
A truly epic Marina. It reminds me of something you would expect on Maui as far as quality goes. Daily fishing escapades embark out of here and there are a number of good restaurants and shops throughout. Honestly it's just a great place to sit down, gawk at the views and wander around. Enjoyable for tourists and locals alike.

This property is absolutely amazing. The hammock bridges over the waterfalls are something to experience. But the star of the show are the waterfalls. Easy hiking on groomed trails. And the food was delicious.
This area has some beautiful views and the big waterfall is amazing. We were there at the end of July so it was strong from the rain, with a beautiful pool at the bottom to swim in!
We arrived around lunch time with 10 people. Because we didn’t go earlier in the day, they only had 6 lunches left. However, they were able to get more supplies to accommodate all of us if we could wait a bit. We did the walk around the property for about an hour and a half and by the time we arrived at the restaurant area, they were ready to make the lunches. The food was incredible. The views were stunning. The suspension bridges were so dreamy and perfectly safe. The trails were easy but adventurous.
This is a great activity to do if you are staying near Manuel Antonio and looking for a very adventurous off-road ride. It took us just over an hour to get there. You definitely need a 4x4 to get there and don't go if there's rain. There is one main swimming hole that's not deep and several waterfalls that fill it. We went at the beginning of March. Our lunch was fantastic! The trail is very short to the swimming hole and you do not have to cross a hanging bridge to get there. There are two large hanging bridges to enjoy and explore more of this site. We went to Rainmaker and here and I'm glad that we did both. Rainmaker with lunch was $60 and here was $40. If I had to choose I would choose Rainmaker solely because the drive there was easier and there were several pools to choose from to sit in. When we were at Los Campesinos, there were very few people that came and we thoroughly got to enjoy the sounds of nature.
Awesome experience! About a 50 min drive from Manuel Antonio, like others have said you need a 4x4 to drive yourself here. If you enjoy hiking, this is a fun easy hike with a little adrenaline from the hanging bridges. Plan on swimming at the bottom of the waterfall! And don’t skip lunch, it was delicious! Overall, $22 per person for the hike + lunch, free parking if you drive yourself. If you’re on a budget, it’s one of the best values for an excursion in the area.
Such an amazing place to stay!! Los campesinos has amazing cabins with all your gringo needs (yes including WiFi). Staying there gave us the chance to swim in the swimming hole and explore their paths. We went to work and help out the community. All of the workers are local from quebrada arroyo and are very nice!
Well worth the ride! Going to want a 4x4 vehicle n not be scared of sketchy dirt roads.. awesome water fall cool suspension bridges.. we went later in the afternoon had the place to our selfs
If you and your vehicle are up for a bit of a slow, adventurous ride in the jungle, followed by beautiful vistas as you cross hanging bridges and walk toward a lovely natural swimming pool and waterfalls, then don’t miss this place. And don’t miss lunch there either. We’ve taken guests twice and both times the food has been equal to the beauty and the cooling of the water at the falls.

Decided to watch sunset from this restaurant as it was very close to our hotel. We went early and got a table right at three perfect spot for sunset. The catch of the day was deep fried red snapper served with deep fried plantain and a spiralized tossed salad and also a buttery dipping sauce and pico de Gallo and guacamole for the fried plantain. The red snapper was so light, flaky and tender. I really enjoyed. My husband ordered the hamburger and also enjoyed how perfectly cooked it was. Staff was very attentive.
Our favorite place to dine, with an amazing view, delicious food and drinks, and excellent service! Highly recommend eating here, the live music is a lovely touch. We saw so many macaws, monkeys and lizards here as well. I personally recommend the patacones!
Had a fantastic time in the restaurant while we were staying in Si Como No Resort. Food was excellent (even better than the second restaurant 😉) - especially the tuna 😊 Actually we went out only once fir dinner during our 5 nights as we were so happy with the restaurant. We were allowed to enjoy our food and drinks in the pool.
Extremely friendly staff (shout out to Alejandro for going above and beyond for us) and fresh delicious food and drinks. Amazing views of the ocean too! Great experience! Edit: We came back a second time and had excellent service and food again. Highly recommend!!
Very good looking and well presented American /European food, small portions and overpriced for what it was. The spicy prawns had zero spice in it and the gazpacho cold soup was very bland and had no garlic in it. I respect chef's choice, but this was no gazpacho to my taste. Nice views and nice atmosphere. Very helpful staff kept trying to clear the table.
Delicious food, helpful staff, nice setting Beautifully presented, beautiful tasting food, with a menu centered around Costa Rican and Carribbean flavours. Bilingual wait staff are friendly, helpful, attentive and polite. Members of the team like Dario will ensure you're well looked after. A great place for dinner at sunset and once the sun's gone, your meal remains underscored with a mix relaxing music and the sounds of the surrounding wildlife.
We had a lovely dinner here this evening with our 2 children. Our server, Omar, was as helpful as could be and the food was delicious! We had the whole snapper, which was perfectly cooked and the mahi mahi with shrimp sauce, also delicious. Our cocktails were also very nice. It's a bit pricier than some other places, but once you see the views and enjoy the live music, you'll see why. We were celebrating a special occasion and this was the PERFECT place to do it!
Such a fun place to stop! Both my sister and I enjoyed ourselves so immensely the first night we visited, that we had to come back the next evening for drinks and dessert. The highlight was the staff. Paola, Alan, and Linda took such great care of us and truly made as feel like we were home. Paola made us incredible drinks - the passionfruit mocktail (with or without tequila) was delicious, and I also particularly enjoyed a pineapple/ancho Reyes cocktail with a tajin rim. I especially appreciated the staff’s overall kindness in addition to their willingness to switch back and forth between English and Spanish, as I wanted to practice my Spanish, but my sister doesn’t understand it well and English is more comfortable for her. It was so nice that she felt completely included in the conversation. We had incredible breakfasts here each morning which were included in our stay at Si Comi No. The Omelette, Huevos Rancheros, and Benedict were favorite dishes of ours. The view is gorgeous, and the open air atmosphere is so calming and inviting. Would definitely recommend.

Great place for relaxation with good food. Quiet and clean beach with excellent staff.
Turn just before the tourist trap and drive down the hill to enjoy this carved out paradise in Quepos. First time and enjoyed even during high tide enough to forget to take photos before the storm clouds blew in. Park just before the beach on the road unless you have a capable 4x4 with high clearance. We saw a Hyundai hatchback struggling to get out on our way home. Highly suggest at low tide. Bring your own amenities and bites and enjoy under the tress or in the beautiful waters while taking in the view. A new favorite for sure!
We came here on the assumption that it was an LGBT beach. That was NOT the case. After traversing some rocky formations we landed on this clean, small beach right in front of the Arenas Del Mar Beachfront. After walking around, an employee had stopped us and told us that this beach is INDEED a private beach owned by the hotel. He was very polite and let us stay for a while. The water and waves are more forceful - actually I saw two people panicking as they were slowly getting pulled further and further away by the current. We didn’t stay too long since the rocks we climbed would be submerged by the rising tide, making our return difficult.
Great beach with white sands on a good day. (Go when its low tide) just becareful with your belongings because there are no staff around the beach unless you go to where the umbrellas are. Other than that was a fantastic beach
Absolutely stunning! Relaxing, sandy, gorgeous. Words can not express how amazing this beach is. We saw different types of lizards, theres hermit crabs at your feet, monkeys, sloths sleeping in trees. Iguanas and monkeys in the trees. The experience is once in a lifetime. The beach water is warm and the sunsets are magical! 10/10 🥥🌴💯
Lovely beach! Beautiful views of the ocean sometimes even could appreciate colorful sunsets 🌅 from here
Beautiful beach and much less crowded than Playa Manuel Antonio. We took a walk from Playa Espadilla and ended up seeing a sloth asleep in one of the palm trees on the beach. Friendly crowd. There are two rainbow flags marking the “gay/LGBTQ+” section of the beach. If you get hungry, there are a few restaurants nearby, or if you don’t mind going for a longer walk, head towards Playa Manuel Antonio for more food options.
This beach is quite large and stretches for a long ways. Nice white sand and large waves for surfing and playing in the surf. There is also an under tow to be aware of. Shade can be found under the trees that come right down to the beach sand. The walk to the beach was tough in the heat, but with a 4x4 you can drive down. The south end of the beach has lots of vendors that rent chairs and umbrellas and sell food.

Nice small park. We came during the rainy season, so there was not much sun, but it was very cute. Only a couple of bunch and table at the entrance and a lot of gym machine. It's prohibited to smoke and drink alcohol. Take your trash with you to respect the land. We saw some nice birds. The beach is small and rocky. A police station is not far away, so it seems pretty safe.
Whilst staying in Quepos I visited Parque Nahomi. It was a lovely spot with great views, and a nice place to watch the sunset. Plenty of parking around it too.
Lovely small walk around a rocky outcrop. Beautiful views. Fun critters- iguanas, crabs, and birds. You can go down to the water, but it was really rough so I did not.
Beautiful views and safe park to visit during the day! There is a tree swing to the left of the main entrance if you walk along the rocks. If you’re arriving to the park on foot you pass through a couple of developing areas- a shipping port and construction zone but all is well paved and very clean!
Excellent beach to enjoy a picnic with a view. Or watch the sunset. Water color is a perfect turquoise green. Very peaceful
Just a beautiful little park. The ocean is beautiful here. Definitely not for swimming, but the views are beautiful
A lovely little park. Beautiful views, very clean and a few crabs and iguanas running around are always fun!
Love this park there is a guard there and had bathrooms and while rocking we found shells and more!

This place is a great find. A hidden gem. We found it on trip advisor, it is an hour away from Manuel Antonio, the last 20 minutes of the drive are a bit adventurous but totally drivable with a good SUV. We spent 3 hrs there, personally i would spend more time enjoying the water and the views. There are multiple pools with different warmth levels. The first pool is the warmest, and you can see the spring water bubbles in this pool. The water is amazing. The cold river running down at the end of the property is wonderful. The owner is so welcoming and very generous. He cooked a very nice meal for us and made us coffee. The property has bathrooms and a changing room. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. No reservations are needed. You just show up, and they serve you with a smile. They raise chicken on the property, so it is fun for the kidos to watch. We would definitely visit again. I highly recommend this place.
Went there today. Nobody else but us. $20 a couple we paid the owner. The drive up the mountain was fun. Not bad but rental 4x4 or AWD crossover made it easy. Walked down to the day following river. Awesome. No amenities other than bathrooms.
Amazing place! Fun drive, which definitely needs 4x4. The thermal water and river were amazing! Very clean. Note there two routes to get to the mountain, 1 took about 1 hour, and the other 22 minutes from the main road. Would recommend 100%.
A bit underwhelming then the photos shown to us. But ok. Drive up may have hurt our rental
pools nice, safe place. not too much interaction with the family - they mostly kept to themselves - but were friendly enough when talked to. we stayed there with 4x4. showers clean and toilets clean. prices were fair. would og there again
What a gem! Nice, rustic pools if warm water with girgeousviews and access to the rushing river. Just beautiful. The cabana serves food that is delicious! Be sure to order before you enter the pools! You can get half orders of the meal, still is enough for almost 2 people. Have been here a half a dozen times, gets better with every visit.
We had such a beautiful stay here when we camped here. The family that runs this place is incredibly sweet and friendly. They will do anything to make your stay a wonderful experience. The son of the family is married to a lovely dutch lady. Thats why they make you very delicious pancakes in the morning. Dinner was great too. We had the Thermales all to ourselves. They are very clean and nicely situated. At night the family lid some candles for my boyfriend and me when we were in the water. Above our heads fireflies in different colors. It was magical. Definitely one of our highlights. Thank you so much for everything❤️
This was a great off the beaten path springs. The google way is rough and had river crossings the Waze way was easier but still bumpy but we were able to cross the bridge (I’m not sure if it was ment for cars but it did hold our hilux so we didn’t have to drive through the river) the springs were clean and nice and wasn’t crowded

Oscar was the most knowledgeable guide that we had in Costa Rica. We not only saw many of the amazing Costa Rican birds, we also learned all about their habits and what they mean to the country. Oscar knew all of the best spots and we saw both Toucans, Macaws, multiple types of hummingbirds, raptors like the Caracara, Kingfishers etc. We also went to an amazing breakfast spot where birds flocked to where we had a typical Costa Rican breakfast. It’s an early morning but if you want to see wildlife this is the #1 tour to do!
Getting a Tour Guide is essential to getting the most out of the Manuel Antonio experience. Luis Andreas was the absolute best. I was nothing short of amazed at the amount of wildlife he was able to spot and show us. Had we gone without a guide, we’d just be walking aimlessly. Granted - the park is gorgeous in its own right. But if you want to spot wildlife? Tour guides are incredible. Their tripod binocular set up will let your phone camera capture incredible photos you’d never be able to get otherwise. Highly recommend, super worth it. Again, Luis Andreas is the man. 10+ years of experience, and apparently grew up right outside the park. Who could be better to show you around?
We went on a Manuel Antonio guided tour with Oscar during our trip to Costa Rica in August 2024 and had an absolutely incredible time. We really enjoyed Oscar’s knowledge and his keen skills at finding all sorts of animals we otherwise would have never notified on our own. He was very accommodating (we had our 15 month old toddler with us) and paced the tour based on our desires. Highly, highly, highly recommend hiring a guide for any MA tours, but especially recommend Oscar - our experience was phenomenal!
Oscar was an excellent tour guide helping us see many animals that we would not have noticed on our own. He is also very friendly hospitable and very nice to spend time with. Thank you Oscar.
This is the 3rd year that we have gone birding with Oscar Herrera and Birding Spots Manuel Antonio. In addition to birding, Oscar has guided us on kayaks through the Damas Mangroves and taken us on a fabulous night tour. Oscar is an extraordinary guide. He is educated and extremely knowledgeable regarding the local flora and fauna and will take you to the best spots to target the local specialities. He knows all the birds by sound and can imitate most of them. He is a great communicator who is friendly and very passionate about birds and nature. He cares deeply for Costa Rica and the natural environment. In addition, Oscar is a fantastic photographer and understands how to help you get the very best shots. He will also document birds using phone pics taken through his awesome scope. He keeps track of all the sightings so you don't have to, and will send you the lists or share the ebird checklist with you after your day ends. We highly recommend Oscar and Birding Spots Manuel Antonio for birding, night, or nature tours. Going on tours with Oscar is an absolute pleasure. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!
We did the night jungle walk with Oscar. It was a great experience and we saw so much wildlife. After the walk the family that owns the land served us a delicious dinner.
My group and I went on a jungle night tour with Oscar and we had a blast! We had a few with a biology/ecology background in the group and the rest of us without, but Oscar had no trouble relating information about the environment and creatures in a way that engaged everyone. Catering to those curious for more in depth technical knowledge, and those just looking for a fun activity. Oscar is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about this environment and sharing his knowledge with others. We will absolutely be looking up Oscar for another adventure when we’re back in Costa Rica! Highly recommend!
If you want THE BEST guide for Manuel Antonio national park and especially birding in the Quepos area (possibly all of Costa Rica), Oscar is your man. I will assume that the majority of guides are nice and adequate but Oscar has a degree in this, has worked with people at the Cornell Ornithology lab, and just has a passion for this. His knowledge base is ridiculous. Doesn’t need some guide book because he has contributed to those books. He can hear bird calls and know what they are. He can even whistle mimic some of them. But the creme de le creme is his vision. He can spot animals from afar in the maze of the rainforest canopy that look like just blobs. The first time he did it, I thought BS. But then he put it on his spotter lens and bam, there it was! Crazy good eyes. Just book a tour with Oscar. You won’t regret it. Plus at the end, he will airdrop all the fantastic pictures he took during the tour. How good is he? The resort recommended him for the National parks tour. He was so good, we booked (and luckily landed) his birding tour the next day. Oh and if you’re wondering, I’m no shill. I was just some really fortunate and very satisfied tourist from the US.
