Tropical rainforest in Costa Rica with guided tours by knowledgeable guides. Experience comments such as “ see that little green snake? He is sticking out his tongue so he can tell how close your are, if you get to close he will jump on you and he is deadly” Rain comes and goes quite often. Go to the butterfly enclosure when the sun is shining as then they are the most active
Very modern facilities when you arrive. The personal are amazingly friendly. The trails are more wild and savage that other park we visited making it unique and wonderful. Charlie was our tour guide he had been working there for 20 years. it is recommended to have someone with you in the trail. We saw the famous Viper yellow snake so I wouldn’t go in some trails without a guide…some trails we did were wild wild many leafs that covered it. We were there late (noon) and did no see many birds but they do have the famous humbrella birds in this park. We will come back but earlier in the morning. A 4x4 is recommended to go at this park as it it on a rocky road
Ed was a great guide. Friendly and informative. The waterfall there is beautiful.
Ed did an absolutely amazing job taking us on an intimate tour of the Veragua Rainforest. Top tier service the entire time and took care of my family like he would take care of his own. If you are able, take the long tour to the waterfall. It’s worth the 110 stairs each way!
It was very humid. (98% I was told) March 19.2024: I was disappointed since I was hoping to see more animals (toucans..monkeys…birds) in the Rainforest. I saw only 2 birds and animals in the Exhibition. The reason was: supposedly it was hot and humid > they were hiding. There are lots of spiders and ants all around. Watch out!!! Long sleeve recommended and hats! The Exhibition is nice: frogs, snakes and blue butterflies 🦋 The flowers are very beautiful!!!! We took the Aerial Tramway, walked 356 steps (round trip) and saw the nice waterfall. There is a little Gift Shop up there and a restaurant. (Small bites, sandwiches..) It was nice to see how green everything was!!!
We loved our experience at Veragua Rainforest. It is beautiful conservation area! The guides were great and super knowledgeable. We got to see a lot of cool animals out in the wild as well as on display. The Zipline was great and a fun way to go through the forest. We had a great time here and highly suggest it if you are planning a trip.
If you uber or taxi, make sure you have a ride back!!! I couldn't find a shuttle or bus that would go here, I didn't realize the road was dirt & rocks. Just be prepared. I got the Eco-adventure & Canopy tour, which includes the zip-lining even though it wasn't clearly stated on the website. Super fun. The guides were great. They even took some videos of me zip-lining. Then we had another guide for the canopy tram to the waterfall & exhibits. He was great as well, spoke English, was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife, animals & exhibits. We had the entire park to ourselves, which was super cool cause apparently the last cruise ship tour groups were the day before. So, there was no line, so quiet, very calm, and truly got to experience the rainforest. Our guide also explained why waterfall was so low since deforestation has increased, causing less rain.
Our group of 6 visited the park in January 2020 as an excursion on our Panama Canal cruise. The park is located in the rain forest. They have an informative snake exhibit (not a fan of snakes). You can zip line through the tree canopy or tram down to a waterfall. We spotted many sloths, butterflies and colorful frogs. It was a great experience.

The tour we were on included a pontoon ride in this canal. Our tour guide, Johnathan was excellent. He was informative, kind, patient and knowledgeable. After the pontoon ride while walking to our next destination we saw a 3 fingered sloth on the ground and then slowly (of course) climbing a tree...great photo op.
Awesome experience!1 we toured as part of a cruise excursion and loved it! Many sloths were seen in the trees. Also seen were spider and Howler monkeys. toucans and crocodiles. Our driver and guide were great. Such beautiful plant life in the forest. Fantastic place to go and experience the plant and wildlife of this area.
Too much turistic. So many People you have to pay for everything...
Lot of birds and wildlife

(Translated by Google) A boat tour on the canals of Tortuguero is the perfect opportunity for all nature lovers to experience up close the beauty of an almost untouched rainforest with its rich biodiversity of animals in Costa Rica. We were out early. At 9am we were the first boat on the canals that day. It wasn't until our tour ended around 11am that the other boats arrived... perfect timing. In this network of waterways we saw a variety of animals such as mantled howler monkeys, crocodiles, numerous birds, fish, crustaceans and sloths. It was fascinating to see these animals in their natural habitat. The captain was very experienced and steered the boat so that we had the best possible view of the animals. Overall, the boat tour on the foothills of the Tortuguero Canal was an unforgettable experience and I can only recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

Beautiful beach with access to gift shop and a fee restaurants. Definitely worth visiting!
Beautiful beach. Relaxing spot with good food and drinks. Definitely recommend visiting
Playa Bonita was beautiful with soft sand and powerful waves, but honestly it wasn’t my favorite beach for swimming. The waves were too big for me to feel comfortable, especially with kids. There also weren’t any bathrooms or places to rinse off, which made it a little tricky. We still spent about two hours there enjoying the view and the feel of the sand, but I left wishing it had calmer water or at least some facilities nearby. I want to say it might be best for surfers or people who just want to relax on the sand. Make sure to pack wipes, water, and be ready for strong waves.
I lived here when I was a child. They have really made it nice. There a big restaurant and a really nice park next door.
Nice little beach. The beach chairs that look free are in fact not free.
In Costa Rica all beaches are public property and you can walk to them from any direction. This one is no different. Playa Bonita also has public parking and you can walk to it. There's almost always a rip tip at this beach so be warned. Watch for the yellow and red flags. If you get caught in one DON'T PANIC, let it take you out, conserve your strength and then swim back. There are large sharp rock just beneath the water so watch out for those. If you want some beautiful beach pictures this is the place. Just come during late afternoons and you'll have the sun in you face and the beach to your back.
I loved this beach! It is a small beach on the Caribbean Sea, has a lot of coral around the edges. The waves are amazing...my kids all loved it!! There is also a restaurant right on the beach, prices are very good!!!
The Playa Bonita is much smaller than you would expect from the pictures. I'm not sure if it's because we were there during the off-season, but the beach was definitely a lot smaller than it looks in pictures.

We absolutely loved this place! It was the highlight of our Costa Rica trip. The cost is well worth it; the hosts are experts in the flora and fauna as well as the sloths themselves. Plus we were all too happy to support their wonderful work and research. The resident sloths are adorable; leaving us wanting to cuddle each one. Ignatio guided us through the sanctuary and was a wealth of information! He certainly knows his stuff and will give you some extra time if you're interested in his passion for the flora and fauna, especially the many beautiful birds! The optional boat ride was amazing! Steven, our guide, was also super well informed on all the surroundings. He has a keen eye for lizards, birds, monkeys and the peaceful sloths hanging so high up in the trees. We were fortunate to see a rare sight: a wild sloth lower down in a tree, quite close to the creek. Wow! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you Ignatio and Steven!
We unfortunately weren’t able to do the canoe tour where you can see sloths in the wild but we still had a beautiful and touching visit. We got to meet the permanent resident sloths—rescued and disabled sloths who are lovingly cared for at the sanctuary. Seeing them up close was an unforgettable experience. Our guide was so kind and knowledgeable, and we learned so much about these incredible creatures, their habits, and the challenges they face in the wild. A special highlight was being checked in by the founder’s daughter—she was an absolute darling and radiated warmth and love for the animals. This sanctuary does such important work—rescuing injured or orphaned sloths, providing lifelong care for the disabled ones, and rehabilitating others so they can return to the wild. If you’re in the area, this is a must-do tour. It’s heart-opening, educational, and supports a beautiful mission of compassion and protection for one of Costa Rica’s most iconic animals. 💚
Absolutely a life changing experience! While we were looking at the adult sloths an outdoor male made his way in to check out the girls. We had such a fun time and watching the babies exercise was the highlight of our trip. Amazing staff and very informative! A+++++++++
A must see experience if you’re in the area! You WILL see sloths on this tour! Very knowledgeable, funny, and engaged tour guide. The visit has about a dozen of their permanent resident sloths. For a small extra fee, you take an hour canoe ride and see more wildlife. We were lucky to see many wild sloths during our canoe ride. Great, well priced tour where the fees go to support the worthy cause of sloth protection and care.
The sloth sanctuary is one of the highlights on the Caribbean coast. The tours are a little bit expensive, but the money goes for a good cause. They also have rooms inside the sanctuary where you can stay, and if you arrive after they close, you need to tap lightly on the horn and they will open the gates. While there are many sloths and you get to get very close to them, you cannot hold them or touch them, as many people expect. It is not a petting zoo.
Santiago! What a guide :) Kindly presented us the sloths that are in rehabilitation. Could answer all of our questions and had anecdotes for everyone! The canoe tour for an extra 5 bucks was also worth it. But seeing animals is a flip of a coin. We were lucky to see monkeys, crabs, basilica and sloths.
I had an amazing experience with my girlfriend! Would highly recommend the Insider’s Tour. You get to see the baby sloths and an optional tour down the river. I think we'll be back sometime in the future!
Amazing people operate this sloth sanctuary. Great tours and extensive explanations about the inhabitants. If you get the chance, GO!!

A lovely Park where there is a bunch of Things to do. They over History and touristy Things. As well as a lovely playground for Kids and Kind of an outdoor Gym for Adults. And everything in a secured area right at the beach. Highly recommend.
I almost hate to say good things. The best part of Limón is that it's a sleepy little port. I'd hate to see it turn into another Rowatan. Great stop on any cruise. I wouldn't hesitate to return. If you don't get the excursion you want, there's plenty of opportunity to book locally as well.
We were on Celebrity Constellation and took Sergio’s tour in Jan 31st. Sergio is very knowledgeable and took us around the different attractions of Limon while explaining to us the history of the sites. We were very impressed with him, he is a true professional and has a good grasp of history, geography and the social conditions of the place. Highly recommend this tour.
As soon as you get off the ship you are bombarded by taxi and tour drivers. Past them the local artists have stalls to get rosewood boxes, plush sloths, usual souvenirs. Outside the port is a very poor dirty town. Shops open at 9 and 10. Exchange rate is 550 local to 1 USD. Many tours available at the port.
The port (although attempts have been made) is still lacking in appearance and services. The town is still quite run down but the people more than make up for it. If you are not doing a shore excursion, there is always a cabbie ready to be your local tour guide. One place to try while in town is called The Red Snapper Restaurant, up in the hills, overlooking "Puerto Limoń" less than a five minute drive from the terminal. The food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious, the views are INCREDIBLE, the bathrooms are SPOTLESS and the people are always friendly. This visit, they even had a Calypsonian one-man band playing fantastic Calypso and Reggie music for tips. It put the cherry on top for us. We look forward to our next visit sometime in the future.
We had such an informative walking tour around Puerto Limon with Sergio! We walked from the port, viewed the historic architecture, learned about the banana industry and ended at the interestingly built catholic cathedral. We highly recommend this tour of Puerto Limon!
The place is clean. The park is next to the beach. Vessels can be spotted. Also, there is a local market place near the park.

Super clean and chill. Not as many vendors or businesses in the area during our visit.
Great park close to the cruise port. Right across the street from the terminal exit. Very safe as there are police walking around. Locals will point out the sloths. I gave them a 1$ for their help. Park has a variety of birds and trees and benches to sit. Playground for the kids as well. Can take some nice pics of the port on the other side of the park. Nice coffee shop across from the park.
Look up into the trees 🌴 while you're in this park, you might be able to spot a sloth 🦥 or two. They're really common in this park. Besides the wildlife there are other great photo opportunities here. Walk along the seawall and you'll see a nearby island and watch out for pan handlers, they're easy enough to ignore.
Clean and nice park! Photo ops, street food, good conversation on the benches, and we saw more sloths here than on our nature walk.
Nice, clean, shaded park at the end of the pedestrian area. Beautiful band stand. People relaxing is the theme.
This destination is a stunning and lively spot, offering ample shade to protect you from the Costa Rican sun. The area is surrounded by incredible wildlife, including fascinating creatures that inhabit the tree tops, making it a fantastic place to explore and experience nature up close.
Several parts of the park are closed for renovations (Feb 2023). There are a lot of local vendors around the area, selling food, drinks, and souvenirs. Walked over to see the water, a lot of old buildings/foundations and a rocky shoreline. Walking back a local showed us a family of sloths (we would have missed them unless we was shown) which we tipped him for the tips.
Was ok... but you should get a tour guide to explain the history

Visited the'Sacred Heart of Jesus' parish, also serves as the Cathedral of Limon. It's simplicity was beautiful. The stained - glass windows were striking.
Beautiful church located near the cruise port

We had a dinner. English speaking and friendly stuff. Casado with beef was delicious.
Meeh..... I went in and asked if they had poker. I was told yes by the bouncer & lady by the door, but it didn't start till 7pm. So I went over to the restaurant attached to the casino to wait. I ordered a shot of vodka, which I was pretty sure was watered down, so I ordered another to confirm, and yup, it was watered down. I should have left then, but I ordered a chimichanga dinner. It looked good, but it was still frozen in the middle. Gross. Also no one spoke English here. Finally, 7pm rolled around, and I went back to the casino to play poker, only to discover ITS BLACKJACK OR 21. Super annoyed I ended up leaving. Only pro was the AC worked fabulous in the casino, not so good in the bar area.
Cool environment. I feel safe, but when it's full it gets hot. The ACs aren't enough. Nice food too, they're almost never out of anything. I enjoy going!
My wife and I went out dancing with some friends. We had a great time. The music was great and it was for all ages young old and in between. It was also wheel chair accessible. When I went to the bathroom, I saw that they had a Casino, but my dancing feet danced the night away and I never got the opportunity to go and win some money. Will have to do it on our next visit.
Small selection of machines. Staff gave us drink vouchers that the bartender said were no good. Bartender also pretended she didn't know what vodka was. Just so happens a tree branch was strategically placed on our car when we exited the casino. Setup? Who knows. I survived Limon!!
Close to the hotel. Air conditioner. Friendly staff. Be prepared for a pat down upon entering, although, they seem to not do that if you are obviously a tourist.. good luck. The slots seem ok. They have blackjack tables and roulette tables. I'm just a penny slot guy. Gone there 4 straight days. Currently ahead $2.16.😆😆😆
Just looked from outside.
Very nice.. just remodeled the place is not 100% open because of covid 19
