Something unique to do in Guatemala. We decided to do a family trip out so the kids could see some animals. The experience was super cool. It seemed the animals were taken care of considering being confined. The process of registering and paying was quick and easy. They had a decent variety of animals. The lion and tiger were definitely the highlight. We also fed the giraffes which was super cool. It cost about Q10 for a batch of carrots. The staff was nice and helped get the giraffes to come to us so we could feed them. It took about an hour and half to go through the entire place. You get to drive through in your car. Half way through there is a space to stop, use the bathroom and feed the giraffes. At the end there is a Zoo like area that you can get out of the car and walk around to see different animals. They also had a pool and restaurant area but we decided not to use it. Overall cool experience if you are looking to do something different with your family.
AVOID HOT & SUNNY DAYS, AS ANIMALS BECOME LAZY AND SEEK SHADE FAR FROM VEHICLES PATH. BOAT RIDES O.K IF NOT PACKED. CAFETERIA IS KINDA WACK & NOT ALL ITEMS ON MENU. ZOO IS FINE. YOU CAN HAVE A BETTER OVERALL EXPERIENCE AT THE GUATEMALA CITY ZOO. THE GIRAFFE EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST. NOT ABLE TO FEED ANIMALS FROM AUTO AT YOUR OWN RISK DIMINISHES THE EXPERIENCE.
Unfortunately I thought we would get into smaller vehicles to view the zoo. But instead we continued to drive around on our 60 person bus. That made seeing the animals tough. So if your tour goes here, be advised that it’s not going to be a good experience.
My kids and I loved visiting Autosafari Chapín whenever we were on our way to renew visas at the El Salvador border. The animals are well-kept, living in large outdoor habitats. You get a good look at some local creatures, and some from other parts of the world. The surroundings are lovely, and there are some places to picnic. The cafeteria is a good place to eat, and they have delicious ice cream We always planned a swim and a meal at the end of a visit.
Overall a super fun experience and highly recommend. It's about and hour drive from Antigua and totally worth it. Driving safari: so much fun. The landscape is awesome and the variety of animals is nice. Where else can you drive through the same pool where the hippos are!? Walking zoo: lots of animals but this is the one part that gives the 4/5 stars. The enclosures are too small for the poor animals. Swimming pool: it was so crowded on a Sunday afternoon that we didn't even get it. It was extremely hot but there was just too many people!
Lots of animals never seen before, super nice stuff, little under maintained, pls spend $$ that way can help animals & stuff doing even better, worth to visit, and it’s only cost less than $10 includes a bus ride. Hostal Las Marias is a beautiful place near by to stay with a very good price. ($32-$45) depends size of room. And they also offering rides.
Great experience, Q75($10) Per person. The drive-through lasts about 20 minutes approx. they also have a zoo that you can walk around we planning to see highly recommend the birdcage walks through. They also have a pool and food you can buy. Personally the Safari boat ride doesn’t seem that interesting but cool experience for kids.
An excellent day out for the family. This was my first time here and for my family, who were visiting from England. We all fed the Giraffe, which is one of my mum's favourite animals and there were lots of different animals to see. We also enjoyed the swimming pool area as it was really hot that day 😎😎🤗🤗.
