The mighty Mara river, We came in a non migration season, saw few families of hippos and few crocodiles. There is a small ranger tour which happens, they walk you through the few entry gates of the migration into the river and you get a chance to talk about the migration experience. You can give a small tip for the bush trail walk and the questionnaire experience, quick 15 minutes. I’ll come back to see the Mara experience next year .
River shared by Kenya and Tanzania. The Wildebeest migration happens here every year, around end of June or mid July. Mara is a great destination!
These are the things you see on Nat Gio but to experience it is aweinspiring, must add to your bucket list
The Mara river is an absolute must visit place especially in the migration season. These amazing wildebeest crossings is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. A must see for everyone visiting the Serengeti. The crossings can take up to 15 minutes and there is such a lot happening. The viewing points are really well organised and marked out. You can get really close to the crossing points and take fantastic pictures
Had an exciting time getting in touch with nature and learning new things about how to coexist with wild animals. This helped a lot to clear out some of the misconceptions I had about elephants, hippo and wilderbeest. My favourite character though is the cheeky mongoose
We saw the hipps in the mara River but the guide informed us we have to wait a longer period at least the full day for watching the migration of wildebeest and zebras from Serengity National Park to Masai Mara. Its August 13 and migration is still happening. We have seen hordes of zebras and wildebeest which have already crossed but missed the river crossing of the Wildebeest and Zebras. If that would have happened we could have seen the crocodiles which are hiding under the water of Mara River. We could see the marks left out at the river by the animals crossing the Mara River from Tanzania to Kenya side
The kind of river that can't be traveled on whatsoever. Its full of crocodiles & hippos. No snakes but lots of fish. Water increases & decreases accordingly. During heavy rains it overflows its banks & during the droughts, water significantly reduces but never dries. Located within the Masai Mara reserve & shared by Serengeti National game park in Tanzania. Its where the crossing of the wilder beasts takes place from Serengeti & to Serengeti.
This used to be a mighty river draining into Lake Victoria but due to deforestation at the source, it no longer possess as much of those glorious days. Siltation is a major concern. In a silver lining though, when it rains, it swells it's banks in wait for the annual migration of the wildebeest, Zebras and Gazelles! Truly a marvel!

Amazing experience with spectacular wildlife. Highly recommended. We were here for 2 1/2 days and saw pretty much every species with the exception of the elusive leopard and cheetah. At least this warrants an excuse to come back! There were no challenges navigating with the guide during the wet season and it was possible to avoid any showers by driving the other way.
Feb 2025: such a special place. Links to the Serengeti in Tanzania with the great Wildebeest & Zebra migration. You can see the big 5 here and get pretty close to the animals. But follow the rules, the game rangers are strict to ensure the well being of the animals.
The best safari experience in Africa because its just the right size so you dont end up driving around for hours in search of animals. And neither is it too short that it seems like a zoo. The rangers are helpful and the drivers and guides are knowledgeable. Seems like the drivers talk to each other via radio to share information about where the animals are. There are a couple of Masaai villages right outside where you can have a look masaai culture from close quarters. You can find lots of lions cheetahs leopards other smaller cats jackals, as well as hyenas apart from elephants buffalo and the others
What can you say about the Masai Mara triangle. So much wildlife. Easy to get around on good quality roads and tracks. It is very expensive for no residents at $200 usd a day but we'll worth it.
The most amazing safari experience with &beyond camp. We were lucky and spotted all big 5 and even a lions kill aftermath
The Mara Triangle is a very interesting plateau of 510 sq. kilometers, about one third of Masai Mara National Reserve. This is the area where the Great Migration takes place. You will also see in normal time herds of animals - wildbeests, zebras, buffalos. antilopes, giraffes... You are guaranteed to see animals in any period of the year and this, 5 minutes after you have passed the Oloololo Gate.
Nice experience. Fortunately no rain these two days, saw a lot of animals.
The best place for animals viewing, stay at Angama mara best in the mara

I am in a dilemma whether to write this review and have more tourists flock to this place :( or to do justice to it and post a glowing review :). We went to Maasai Mara for a day and then we realised what an amazing concept conservancies such as this are. Within a 15-30 minute drive you can spot ALL the herbivores as well as lions, cheetahs, their young ones, jackals, hyenas etc etc. In Mara reserve we had to drive many kms to just spot one leopard with 25 other jeeps. In the conservancy we were mostly the only ones at a sighting. The Porini cottages combine the adventure of the wild with modern conveniences and mostly importantly, security, since we went with our own cub. Only Rhinos you won't find here. The service provided by Col Chandra, Grace, Daniel and our guides Ben and Darton was exemplary. Food by Chef Shiazu was amazing. Security by Joseph, Solomon and rest of the team was flawless. Overall a personalized safari experience like no other. More than highly recommended.
It's the first conservancy to be established within the Great Masai Mara Ecosystem. The conservancy is the result of partnership between Masai landowners and a safari operator. Wildlife is free to roam the conservancy without having to circumnavigate fences or other man made barriers between the various Masai properties. Only selected operator vehicles are allowed to operate here. Excellent opportunities to see the big 5 animals and other wildlife. Need more than a day to view the wildlife in safari jeeps.
The services offered are extremely better than anywhere else I have been . Especially the porini camp by Gamewatchers Safaris . the best of it being porini cottages
Excellent wildlife experience. No crowds, wonderful wildlife everywhere you look. We stayed at Porini Bush Camp in the Conservancy which was really nice. Nice staff, good food. We saw lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, impalas, leopards, and much much more.
I have been living here for 7 years since 2012. This is the best protected area in the world in terms of the density of wildlife and the diversity of landscape. We can see lions every day.
It's really interesting to be at olkinyei
