We did a 7 night, 8 day gorilla and Safari tour. It was fantastic - we had such a great time. Ivan was quick to respond to all of our questions and Eric, our guide, was excellent. He’s a fantastic driver and incredibly knowledgable about Uganda and the surrounding wildlife. Eric also made sure we got to see everything we wanted to see - in our case a leopard. We couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Thank you to both Eric and Ivan.
A simply stunning experience from start to finish. What started as a spur of the moment idea to visit the mountain gorillas turned into an extraordinary and continually delightful tour in a truly beautiful country, guided by the most genuine, and inimitable tour guide - Richard Toko. Although seemingly more common than expected ( having bumped into many self-driving couples / friends ), we had reservations around arranging transport and managing the logistics ourselves, so we opted to book the visit through a tour company which turned out to be a wise decision. Following a brief google search it was clear a fleeting visit to see the Gorillas was not going to be enough as Uganda has so much to offer. We settled on a 10 day trip, regretfully omitting the northern sector featuring Murchison falls, but including the popular spots of Kibale, Queen Elizabeth Park, Bwindi impenetrable forest and Lake Bunyoni. We contacted several companies to obtain quotations for the trip and eventually got connected with Ivan from Gorillas & Wildlife Safaris. At the outset Ivan was friendly, clearly knowledgeable & experienced in providing Ugandan wide tours; offering off the shelf packages, but was also very accommodating, providing a fully customised trip giving logical reasons as to why our suggestions may or may not work. This was great for us as we wanted to work in a couple of days without travel during the trip, something that other agencies were reluctant to discuss giving the impression that inflating their sale price with activities was more of a priority. After several conversations with Ivan we settled on an agenda, and he was continually communicative. He was also flexible with the payment options, again, an area where other agencies were not as accommodating. Our trip consisted of 5 different lodges and ahead of time we were given the option to pick from budget, mid range or luxury accommodation. Apart from the higher end “Birdsnest Resort” in Lake Bunyoni we opted for budget accommodation which were anything but. All the lodges were excellently well kept, all in stunning locations, featuring comfy beds ( with mosquito nets where needed ), a well-stocked bar, very decent 3 course menus and always friendly staff. It was hard to find fault, all lodges having their own charms. Gorillas & Wildlife Safaris were exemplary in every aspect, the highlight being Richard Toko who was purely a joy to be around and who demonstrated incredible knowledge of Ugandan wildlife and conversation in general. It was truly a privilege to be shown this beautiful country by a seasoned and inspiring gentleman.
Our safari started with a hiccup but ended up being an amazing adventure. Our driver, Noah, was an excellent driver and guide. His knowledge of the country and the wildlife was second to none. From spending time in Kibale National Park with the chimps to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with the gorillas it was a trip of a lifetime. Along with the Chimps and gorillas, we had 3 other game drives giving us the opportunity to see the Big 5!! We also found the people of Uganda very friendly and welcoming, especially the kids. Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris is a top notch company and I highly recommend them. Thank you again Noah for the great job you did!!
With GORILLAS AND WILDLIFE SAFARIS we did an eight-day expedition in Uganda. We arranged the program in advance from the Czech Republic and already at that time Ivan recommended and helped us to arrange interesting places for photographers. When we found out at the airport that we were not issued visas in time and would not be allowed to board the plane, we called Ivan and he helped us to sort everything out and hurried the Ugandan officials and within a few tens of minutes we received our visas in the mail and could leave. They are one of the few companies that offer flights within Uganda so we had booked flights from Entebbe to Semliki and back from Kihihi to Entebbe with Aerolink. Waiting for us in Semliki was our guide Kassim, who accompanied us the whole time in his Toyota Land Cruiser, which, although of an older date of manufacture, looked the best among all the offroads. Kassim was very kind and helpful, stopping us himself at interesting places and places perfect for photographing wildlife and landscapes, and helpfully explaining local customs to people and animals. He even provided us with small snacks in the form of bunches of bananas during the crossings :-). The whole trip was well arranged, we did not encounter the slightest problem anywhere, and if something came up (e.g. the need to have a PCT test before departure to Rwanda (even for transit at the airport)), Kassim promptly solved everything over the phone or on the spot. We enjoyed the trip with him very much and we enjoyed everything perfectly. We will be happy to come back and use your services again.
Thanks to Ivan for organising our trip through Uganda - we had a great time! He was very responsive and accommodating, finally putting together a comprehensive program for us. We enjoyed spending our time with our guide Francis, who is professional, knowledgable and a good driver. The lodges chosen were great (apart of point 1 below), with the food being one of the highlights - all of it very delicious! Thanks also to Francis for showing us local food on the drives between National Parks. Our SUV “Black Hawk” was in great condition and clean. We did not encounter any issues with permits and reservations (unlike fellow travellers we met on the trip with other companies) and everything was handled to the highest service standards. We can recommend Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris - very professional and reliable! Two areas of improvement from our side: (1) While you are able to choose between different levels of accommodation with examples of lodges, this does not include information on which kind of room/tent you ultimately get (lodges offer different kinds of rooms/tents). We ended up with shared bathrooms in some of them, which we would have upgraded if known before for sure. We made Ivan aware of this already and he promised to provide more infos in the future. (2) Sometimes the game drives felt a bit rushed. This might have been partially caused by a tight schedule, but we still had plenty of time left on some days and would have appreciated to spend more time with the magnificent animals.
5 days gorilla and wildlife safari, I traveled to Uganda with my friend for a safari, all I can say is everything went extremely above our expectations, Noah replied all our emails in time and recommended us the best activities to do and very good hotels, we can highly recommend to travel with Gorilla safaris and wildlife, our guide John was so knowledgeable, friendly and honest, he has got Engle eye to spot birds and more wildlife on our safari, Incase you plan to have a trip to Uganda, travel with them, so honest local travel company
I did a 3 day gorilla tracking safari with Richard and I had the time of my life. The gorilla tracking was amazing, and the whole 3 days were just an amazing experience, all thanks to Richard. Richard is a friendly, knowledgeable and awesome guy who just made the whole experience fantastic. He even gave me a little gift after our 3 day tour, which was very kind and heartwarming. I highly recommend going with Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris!!
Best tour company in Africa! Request Noah as a guide. Magnificent trip

They have new neighbor project. The BWINDI women bicycle Project. You don't have to miss bicycle riding during your trip to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Meet those women, you will have a great experience for the empowered woman.
A visit to the Batwa Community that once lived in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest before relocation for the sake of Gorilla conversation. Well their settlement is far cry considering the amount of money Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Uganda government is making. However, it's worth to visit
Batwa experience is the best activity to do when you visit Bwindi. This is were you will have to learn from the batwa and see their culture.
Batwa experience is the best experience you can ever have. They are so amazing.

An AMAZING organization and a phenomenal place to stay. The story about this organization will blow your mind. They are helping so many women become self sufficient and successful. Rooms are lovely, food is great. We took a cooking class which was so much fun. More than just cooking, we shared stories and songs. We stayed for 3 nights and could have stayed longer!
Absolutely amazing group of women (and some men) working to empower disadvantaged women through training, jobs, microloans, etc. Beautiful people doing great work. Watch their video online to get a sense of what they are about. Great place for lodging and accommodations also. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. I loved the community music and dance before dinner. Check them out, in person or online. What a wonderful place to support financially.
Hospitality at it’s best, please come visit value for money and amazing team, good food and a great scenery 😍🥰❤️
We stopped there because of our tour and was not dissapointed! It's a great cause, restaurant is nice, food was great, staff were amazing and rooms were big, clean with the small attention of heater pad in the bed.. I trully recommend it!! Buy, donate and help the good cause at the same time
If I had time and convenience, I would ride again for a woman. If you are thinking of where to stay while visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the Buhoma Sector, look no further, Ride 4 A Woman has you covered. From their good hospitality, humble staff, professional manager and organized demeanor, just to name but a few, you will surely enjoy your stay. Not to forget the hot water bottle put in your bed to keep you warm in the chilling night. The hotel is on course to eliminating plastic containers and everything is on glass or melamine. Keep doing this guys and you will keep shinning.
What to say?! What an incredible experience we had with them. My partner and I spent an entire day in their company, and we never wanted to leave. We had the pleasure of taking part in their mirning prayers, cooking and waving classes, which were both fantastic. I have taken many cooking classes around the world and this was one of the best, there is so much to enjoy about Ugandan food. Charlotte, Edna, Glorius, Denis and the whole Ride 4 A Woman team were amazing, we learned a lot from them. It was wonderful to support their initiative by taking part in their activities and purchasing locally made products. Passing through Buhoma and not visiting them is a huge loss. For our next visit to Uganda we will definitely stay in one of their beautiful rooms and spend more time in there.
Best in making crafts. Everything is made by hands or the women. Best in cultural and traditional dancing by the women. Have the best accommodation and food prepared by good chefs as well. Most of the spices picked our garden.
They will welcome you with a smile and white face towel to clean your dusty face and hands. A flesh cold juice to conquer your thirsty, delicious meals, hot water shower and clean and comfortable beds, I highly recommend this lodge for anyone traveling to Buhoma-Bwindi impenetrable national park
