The castle and the stories were really awesome. Blackboard would twist gun powder in his beard and light it before going into battle to scare his opponent. Nice view of the harbor. Going down the hill were museum s and more stuff to look at.
It is not really fair to rate this at all. Hurricane Irma had damaged it and it was closed when we climbed the "99 steps" and beyond. Even so the views were amazing as was the glimpses of the tower that dates to the 1600s. It appears the site is still closed, I"m sure due to the Hurricanes of 2018. I hope the tower is not too damaged and that they can open once again.
Went here as part of a tour excursion on a cruise. Interesting. Not sure how tied to pirates the area is but the tower is very cool to climb and the they was great! All the way through the tour the guides were very knowledgeable about the buildings and their. History. They have a pool there that you can use if you want to.
Really loved view from the top of the castle and the backstory on Black Beard and the materials the castle is made out of. Loved the self-guided tours through the different houses and the Rum Tasting Tour is excellent. 70 different types of rum you can try, some available in the U.S. some limited to the Virgin Islands some available only in surrounding like Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados. I myself was able to get through 32 rums before the liquor took over, you can really taste and feel the difference between the Sweet stuff and the very well aged rum. I will definitely make sure this tour is on my list the next time I come to St. Thomas.
Probably one of the best things you can visit while you're here. $15 to get into the lot, and the panorama you can get at the top of the tower is worth it. The price also includes access to the historical buildings on the west side of 99-steps as well, which they don't tell you. The only room for improvement they have would just be increasing the quality of the guided tours, and of course letting you know what everything you're paying for includes.
Best attraction in the island! $10 per adult and children free! They even have free wifi. The property has several houses and you will need to walk a lot of stairs, but if you're not going back up, all you need to do is let gravity do the work (we had a rental car we needed to go back to, so I felt the anger of the "99 steps"🙂). The view at the top of the tower is beautiful and a must-see (see pic attached). Even though it is a self-guided tour, each stop included a friendly employee that explained part of the history of what we were seeing. There's the tower, a few houses, and three pools you can even use! There's also some gardens and a statue of the "Three Queens of the Virgin Islands" (you'll need to visit to know the full story!) Definitely got our money's worth and would go every time I'd go back again!
Fun tour, definitely great for kids. Staff were the perfect blend of fun and informative. Enough information to be interesting without boring younger audiences.
Great views, you can soak in the pools and have a drink. We did the combo tour and got to taste 25+ types of rums...the pool was perfect to sober up. Lots of history as well!

My family and I went here on a vacation a while back, and it was so beautiful. The architecture is just magnificent, and the sand floor was such a beautiful touch. I remember also seeing an iguana, and it was extravagant. I definitely recommend visiting this place because it was such a wonderful experience for me and my family.
Certainly worth the visit to see the 2nd oldest Synagogue in the hemisphere. Sand floors are amazing. Only about 2 blocks off the beat and path of the main shops. Free to go in and take photos. Even if you not Jewish it's worth the trip if you appreciate such things.
One of the oldest synagogues in the Western Hemisphere. Definitely worth a visit. There is no admission fee, but they do accept donations.
Pretty awesome place. The second oldest Synagogue in the western hemisphere! The Synagogue floor is covered with sand. You'd think it's because the of the tropical location but actually it's just to make the service quite. The guide your is amazing. They are open for tourists again since the October 2020. Must see.
Pretty cool synagogue. We had a private tour that lasted about 20 minutes. It was free and informative. Worth the quick trip to see it.
Step back in time, not only when the chosen people were being persecuted by the nazies, but even further back as a surging nation gathering to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
What a beautiful synagogue!! It was worth the trip up the steep hill. We went in because we were hot and tired and this was one of the few places on our self-guided historic walking tour that allowed you to go in. Inside we found a beautiful facility filled with so much history. There's a museum with lots of information and photos that tell the synagogue's story. The rabbi was there and actually greeted us and answered questions. The sand floor and why it has a sand floor was fascinating information. We stayed for quite awhile to take it all in.
I talked to the warden in my visit right after it opened at 9:30 am (on Dec. 27, 2023). The formal tour requires a minimum of 4 when there was only me. So, I was not really given a formal tour though the nice warden talked with me quite a bit on and off. But it seemed to me that he was worried about the security of the Congregation, presumably due to what had happened in Israel and Gaza. He told me quite a few things. When I asked him whether the sand on the floor was really symbolic for the Exodus of Egypt, he said that there might be 5 stories which are all true, including the fact that the sand wouldn't create much noise when the fishermen stepped in with their heavy boots 😀

Historic site. Part of the enchanting St Thomas history. local vendors on Saturday selling local produce, beans, roots and their own mixes. Interesting.
Supporting and Selling all types of Fruits Plants Coconut Food etc. Come down on Saturday early. I like the Peas Soup Delicious.
Nice selection of local produce and fresh fish. Very nice people!
This market only open on a Saturday. I bought some local dishes and provisions. It has what you want there. Also they have fresh fish selling. We bought some and freezed it and bought it back to the States
A posh market in very cute small bylanes very well maintained and beautiful. Loved wandering around and finding hidden restaurants.
Had a lot of fun at the event that was hosted there.
What an amazing historical site. If you live here or are just visiting, head down to the market on Saturday morning. Feel free to ask the local vendors about their locally grown items. They are proud of their products and are happy to talk to you about their items. Try a new fruit or veggie. You won't regret the visit. Also, cash only.
I've always through that this market square was a great deal for fresh produce and especially fish. You have go early though in order to get any seafood (like the crack of dawn) to get the best pick of what they have. And just like vendors plaza if you want to try to negotiate for what you want they are open to that as well. This is at the end of the main shopping to be had on Main Street and if you are looking for a farmers market this is one of the closest things that you will find in town that resembles that. There are a few sketchy roads further past this market square which is why this place got one star less.

Transportation
Slide 1 of 8
Got us from point A (St. Thomas) to point B (Tortola). They are efficient and left on time. May not be the most welcoming but It’s a ferry service that is busy. They know what they’re doing and process customers quickly. They say on their website they charge for extra bags, so it’s not a hidden fee. Also a port fee, $10/person. You should always calculate extra time and not cut it close to your flight. That’s on you if you miss your flight because of normal transportation delays. Just FYI may take extra time to get through customs after docking from USVI to BVI
Worst experience of our entire trip. Long wait time, rude counter person, baggage handler forcing a tip, rude ferry personnel. I watched those same employees almost lose bags off the dock into the water. Highly recommend going to Red Hook and using that ferry.
It's a ferry and it does what it's meant to do. Goes from A-B at the times on the schedule. Lots of hidden fees that you may not be aware of that are probably not Road Town Fat Ferrys fault but still annoying - USVI $10 addition fee that they requested when I checked in (I purchased my tickets online). A BVI arrival fee of $10 and a BVI departure fee of $20.
If they took fast out of the name perhaps expectations would be more realistic. There is nothing fast about this ferry as it did not even board before our departure time. Bags are carelessly tossed on board. Not sure if there is a better option to get to the BVI.
Great ferry service to the BVI, BUT TERRIBLE LINE AND DELAY RETURNING FROM ROAD TOWN. *** SEE PIC *** THE FERRY WAS DELAYED... WAIT FOR IT... 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES - - - AND THIS LINE IS VERY VERY COMMON FROM ROAD TOWN! *** (IN ORDER TO BE ON TIME, THEY COULD LEARN CUSTOMER SERVICE EFFICIENCY FROM CHICK-FIL-A IN THE USA, AND HIRE THEM AS A CONSULTANT.) GET A FEW HAND HELD SCANNERS FOR PASSPORT AND PAYMENT CARDS. IT'S NOT THAT DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY BASED ON THE PUBLISHED SCHEDULE, NEEDLESS LONG LINES, AND AMAZING REVENUE STREAM THEY ARE MAKING LITERALLY EVERY DAY. (... seeking improvement.)
I am only adding to the rest of the negative reviews on Google and on Trip Advisor. First off, agree the ferry dock employees are the rudest people I have ever encountered. She was like a prison guard and it was a terrible experience. Second, the 7:30 a.m. Road Town Fast Ferry did not leave the dock until 8:40 with a ferry full of people trying to make flights. Thank goodness our flight wasn’t until 1:00 p.m., but even then we only got to STT with a couple hours to spare (that is another whole fiasco but at least the people at the airport were some nicer - lines at ticket counters and customs which explains glad we had 2 hours). The management of ROAD TOWN FAST FERRY is doing a terrible job, but obviously do not care based on the consistent negative reviews. I wish Island Time and Dolphin were not so expensive so people could afford to use someone other than RTFF. I would certainly be willing to pay a bit more for better service. If we go back I will avoid RTFF if possible and I would suggest others do the same. The ferry itself was nice and clean but employees and schedule were horrendous.
Not a fan of leaving negative reviews, but they earned it. After getting to the ferry an hour early we were denied access to the ferry because our Covid test didn’t show our birthdates. We had all the documentation including vax history, Covid test within 24hrs, passports etc etc and they still would not accept it. We were forced to rebook flights, stay another night and come back in the morning where we were greeted by the same girl who smiled and said “you’re back” and promptly charged us a “change fee” to rebook. Then the same bags we came over on the same ferry with were apparently too large now and we were charged to check them for another fee. Slap another $20 for a departure tax that is not included in your ticket price and the whole experience reeks of mismanagement and disorganization. There’s island time and then there’s this. Proceed at your own risk.
One of the worst experiences I’ve had in the USVI.. The young lady that was the gatekeeper for the ferry waiting area in the afternoon of 4/16,was the rudest, most condescending and obnoxious employee I’ve ever seen at a business. Our host/tour guide provided his and his companion’s tickets to her and said that the 3 additional couples behind him were all together. This lady berated us, said we were causing a disruption, was incredibly rude with no customer service whatsoever and completely ruined the atmosphere of what was a wonderful trip up to that point. We are kind, gracious, humble people and this lady was simply mean and nasty to all of us. I watched her interact with tourists for about an hour afterwards and she was very nice and friendly with “locals” traveling to Tortola and rude to the tourists. She was again rude to us right before boarding where we’d been waiting in line for an hour and were in the middle of the pack for boarding and she moved us to the very back.. Almost every review I leave on google is a positive one as I feel employees need recognition, and this one will be he exception. In addition, the ferry crew made us pour out our just-purchases from the bar drinks upon boarding, only to see that half the people onboard were drinking and drank for the whole ferry ride..

Very cool place to shop and chill. My kids loved watching the yachts come in. We got to see Houston Rockets owner Pull his enormous yacht in...very cool!
Fuel dock was easy to work with and well supported. Both trips to this marina, their staff was quick with assisting us get provisions transported to our dinghy and boat, without us asking. Appreciate them!
Larry and I love watching the sunset in the evening and our morning walks along the water. We pay a daily visit to our friends at Gourmet Gallery!
What a great place to shop! Great deals at Luxe Fragrances located at the end of the pier. You’ll find Ralph Lauren, Diesel, Lacoste, Bath and Body works candles, fragrances, and more! Check out the photos!🤩
Modern atmosphere with high-end food options that don’t disappoint. Be sure to visit St. Thomas Social for bottomless mimosas and if you request to see the cigar options, tell Chef Sunil that Pyper sent you!!!
We used to live there for 5 months in 2016. We felt very safe, our building had 24/7 doorman and security people driving golf carts around the property it is a great place for shopping , eating and it is a beautiful area.
This Yacht Haven Grande location, has a lot to offer you when you visit the St Thomas US Virgin Islands. It will be one of the spots, you will ‘dock off’ from your cruise ship. I was blown away by my visit. This fort is huge. It has all sorts of rooms, tunnels, and circular staircases. Their ingenuity in design and features and construction is amazing, especially that they did it all without modern manufacturing or computers
This is the oldest building in St. Thomas. It's very well preserved and we enjoyed touring the cells, although some felt creepy and unsettling. Overall, it was a great experience.
The tour of the church was excellent, but the recording was not working properly so you were not able to get the full history of each room. The lookout at the rooftop is the best view of the entire city. Self-directed tour.
This was a beautiful place with some historical markers on the outside. You can buy a pass and get a tour from the front office. It's right next to the downtown area in the downtown parking lot.
Do not go. Brochure has errors. Only one working iPad that has audio of info that you can read on the screen. No other info on most of the exhibits. Waste of time and money. Only open M-F and closed on the many US and local holidays.
$10 a person to get in, which is not bad at all. Self guided tour. Restrooms. Close to plenty of other attractions in the area. If you came on an NCL cruise, a 20+ minute walk if I remember right. All that aside, this place is cool as can be for how old it is, especially if you like history. It could use some more historical information on the inside, but checking out all the rooms, the dungeon, and the views from the roof are awesome. Go check it out!
We really enjoyed touring Fort Christian! It was a self “guided” tour but we found plenty of plaques or screens to read about its history and the dungeons and solitary confinement prisons were interesting to see! There were only a few others touring at the same time, maybe 10 people total, but I was really glad we decided to do it. The views from the top were beautiful and it was fascinating to see the construction.
$10 admission fee per person. I would want to have a bit more description on the fort. Lots of iPads showing information are not working. Not impressed with the fees paid versus what I get.

I loved this place.

Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church (1793) in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, is the second oldest Lutheran church in the Western Hemisphere.
I was raised in this church and it’s where my walk with the Lord began thanks to my wonderful grandmother. Although I left the island this church is still my home church every time I visit. Pastor Malone is incredible and blessed to be a blessing.
I booked this church for my wedding and everything was running smoothly at first. Submitted all documents well in advance especially the payment. However, as the ceremony got closer their true colors started to show. No one contacted me to schedule any meetings or rehearsals. I went to the front office to inquire about a schedule and was told the pastor will have a zoom meeting with me. Never received any login info! 30 mins past the scheduled time I received a call from the front office annoyed that I missed the meeting I had no information for. During the meeting, the pastor was EXTREMELY rude and kept throwing shade even during her PRAYER at me! It was an issue to schedule our rehearsal to which no one at the church showed up to! A battle to decorate the church until my MoH put her foot down. Fast forward to my wedding day...the pastor did not want the photographer to set up because of time. The USB drive containing my music could not be found! I had to play my music on my phone near the wedding party so they could hear! No mics were provided while saying our vows and I'm being charged a systems fee! One employee lies for no reason at all! For example, said employee said they were unaware of my rehearsal day and time despite speaking to me earlier that day and trying to force me to decorate during rehearsal or on the day of my wedding. There were many other lies which would make this post even longer. Would give ZERO stars if I could! Terrible service from a Christian entity.

What a fantastic experience we had at Frenchtown Brewery on our cruise stop. A quaint little place with fantastic beers. We loved our conversations with Terri about their start, future plans, and small world connections. If you have the time and love unique breweries make time for a visit! You won't be disappointed.
Upstairs entrance, so if you're downstairs you're at the wrong place. Small area with seating for about a dozen plus, but with four awesome beers on tap. If you came on a cruise, the walk here is sight worthy and definitely worth it! Easy to navigate to as well. Upstairs small bathroom as well, but if you like beer and love visiting breweries like me this small one is definitely worth going to. Oh and it's practically across the street from McDonald's too haha.
Very cool little brewery in St. Thomas. Owners were very nice and told us a lot about the brewery and St. Thomas. Usually 4 beers on tap. I had two different and both were very good.
Neat little brewery with a small tasting area. The owner was so very nice and the beers were great! Can't wait till they move the operation to Bluebeard's.
Great beer made with care and passion. We happened to stop in while preparation for another batch was underway. We had a wonderful tasting, fun chat with the brew master and left with a few crowlers which we are enjoying on the boat. If you enjoy good beer, be sure to check out Frenchtown Brewing.
Absolutely the best most intimate taproom on the island. If I could recommend one place to go and do a tasting it would be frenchtown brewing. Loved talking to the owners and hearing their story. You can tell how much time and effort goes into crafting each beer. It doesn’t hurt when you have a seasoned microbiologist developing your recipes either!
We had a few hours before our flight home in St Thomas after our ferry arrived safe decided to stop by and check out the brewery. We're very glad we stopped in! Small little spot almost like a secret hidden brewery complete with a secret doorway. All the beers were great quality and Terry was so friendly to host us and answer all our little questions. Apparently they're going to be moving soon ish for a brewery upgrade and upsize, looking forward to checking in with Frenchtown on our next USVI trip to see how this operation grows!
Awesome small but expanding brewery, we loved all four of the beers they had. When you get there if you feel like you're in the wrong place you're in the right place the entrance is upstairs and straight through the doorway. The owners are super sweet come give them some love and have a few beers.

Beach adjacent to the airport with lifeguard services, a bathhouse & on-site restrooms.

This beach is right next to the airport. Free to park. You just pull right up and walk to the beach. There's also emerald resort nearby for you to get some food. There is also a small bar on the beach with music and fun toys to rent.
About the play area: The park is in pretty bad shape. Fence has been knocked down around the playground and the grounds need some loving care. Most of the parking is completely consumed by airport folks so even finding a place to park is tough. During my visit, the shelters were being used by a couple folks smoking pot. Skip it...nicer places to visit.
Walking distance from the airport. Can kill a little time if you find yourself with hours of flight delays…. Certainly not “special” in comparison to other area beaches. Just a place for killing time since there are zero options near airport.
Our kids absolutely loved this beach. Calm water and inflatable water house that they enjoyed playing. The beach is nicer to the left side by the hotel
Came to St. Thomas via a cruise ship. Been here numerous times and decided this time to change things up and visit Lindbergh Bay. Great decision. Beautiful beach. We had a nice relaxing day.
This beach is amazing with clear waters and soft sand. Whether you are alone or planning a family beach day, this beach is one if the most visited beaches in St. Thomas. During the weekdays, the beach is pretty much empty so if you are looking for a peaceful and meditative spot during your lunch break, look no further. If you are okay with a crowd and a little loud music the weekends are usually packed.
Be carefully with the ones offering you beverages at the beach, some are taking advantage of tourists, they ask for money to go for drinks but then they disappear. Beach is beautiful, location is worth it, just be careful of locals.
Perfect for personal, couples and FAMILIES experiences! 1. The shorelines are super shallow, as parents your mind can be at ease knowing that your child could be about 3-5 yards out and still be able to stand (experiment for yourself for different heights will apply). 2. There is a jet ski company on the far right of the beach accessible for your adrenaline fun! 3. It’s a CLEAR & CLEAN beach, which makes it so beautiful to see at any time of the day Unless your willing to spend money on a chair, I do advise you to BRING YOUR OWN SEATINGS. Please do enjoy your stay! #Local

Hookah is great!! Ambience is on point, they play all kinds of music and service is amazing! They really accommodate to the music you like and the workers are so sweet! 100% recommend this place if you’re staying close to española way.
Not sure if they are shut down but there’s no sign , no directions, Google stuff may or may not be accurate but I walked around this whole area and never found this place.

We did a full day private cruise around the islands with Andrew. The baths were wonderful.
They offer souvenirs shops, restaurants, bars, taking sailing trips, live-music, picture moments, etc. Add this location to your list, if you are planning to visit the island.
