Mineral del Monte, also called Real del Monte, is a mountain town in the central Mexican state of Hidalgo. It’s known for its rich mining past, which is chronicled at Mina de Acosta and Mina La Dificultad. Both mines have museums tracing their history, plus original 19th-century machinery. Dating from the 1850s, the Panteón Inglés is a cemetery with the graves of English miners and other town inhabitants.

Fabulous experience. Incredible array of artifacts is massive and perfectly laid out. Whoever designed the tour deserves a gold star as it explains the mining in the region from pre-Columbian to 2005. Do not miss the opportunity for a guided tour. You will bd met by a guide and walked through. If you speak Spanish much better. This is Mexico..! It’s 50 pesos each and 50 to film and 25 per still camera. Enjoy. It’s so worth it.
Excellent place, great narration from a guide
The staff has a terrible attitude, i dont recommended
Very interesting, well maintained important beautifull museum. It gave us a good picture of the history of minning and a general idea about Pachuka's history. There was a very nice guide, she spoke some english and did her best to explain us and made us feel welcomed.
(Translated by Google) Wonderful space dedicated to mining, an industry that has gone through great evolutions and many factors that many of us do not consider, such as the conditions of this employment were not adequate, today an industry that has been exploited and is worth visiting. It is a very well-kept place and above all a space dedicated to the value and great work of Mexicans who have left a legacy in the mining industry. Be sure to visit it, you will surely have a great time and especially with the help of the site's guides, who have great preparation to take you through each of the rooms.

The place is clean and well kept, I’ve met the woman taking care of the site and she has to deal with a lot of rude people who thinks the place is a playground, the rules are clearly stated on the main door and they should be followed. Please be respectful of the place and follow instructions.
Very interesting piece of history. You can actually tell the Celtic influence in the surrounding areas. Never seen the Gnome and faeries obsession in Mexico before, but you find it in Hidalgo, likely from the English miners.
Very interesting historical cemetery

(Translated by Google) The cemetery has an incredible history. I recommend going by car, as the climb is difficult. Explore on your own, as the woman who takes care of it is very despotic and wants money, regardless of whether she gives you the tour or not. She wants money. People who don't get it, she insults them or just keeps muttering, "I'm sorry." It's a shame that a place with so much history is run by such a nefarious person.
(Translated by Google) The tour is very interesting and the place is very well preserved, although it must be taken into account that if there is rain or a thunderstorm they close it for safety reasons. (Translated by Google) Without a doubt, it is a place that you cannot miss if you visit the Magical Town of Real del Monte. The pantheon is incredibly beautiful, the place is so quiet that time passes quickly even though it is small. Admission is free, I recommend following the guides who give a good explanation of the place. There is parking nearby and it is not expensive. Finally, if you visit, avoid littering and do not walk over the graves.

A very interesting tour, although you learn about the harsh conditions miners work in and all the risk they take. A very eye-opening tour. The tour takes you to different rooms to see some pictures, machines, and stones. The price is $3.5 (70 pesos).
Miera history since the 1800s sees or knows the myths and adventures. Come, dare to walk at night in a mining town
Interesting place shows how was the work on a mine.
Very nicely prepared. The exhibition covers a mining history, but a local geology and mineralogy is missing.
Jesus, The Guide was very polite and professional. Thanks!

My grandpa's town is as beautiful as always. Maybe a bit more crowded than I'd like in holidays. I recommend the tour that takes you around the place in these 2 floor busses. If you're there, you can't miss eating a paste (or 3) ☺️
Beautiful town in the mountains, gets quite chilly and windy up there too. Only a 10 minutes away in the mountains to get here.
This is a very cute town and worth visiting for the history. This is a "pueblo magico" that means it's an old town with a lot of historical significance. This town is where pastes originated (pronounced paas-tes). They are of English origin known as pasties which are a pastry similar to an empanada. The town has lots of silver stores in tradition with the silver mines (now no longer in use).
It's a beautiful place, crowded on Weekend but it's worth to go on week days. Good food, drinks and delicious dessert.
Nice little site. Tour guide was cool and knowledgeable.
Pretty little magic town. Whatever is perfect, a little chill during the night. Plenty of stands for you to buy food and snacks while you walk thru the plaza.
We made a quick stop in Mineral Del Monte on our way to Tolantongo. It's a beautiful town with English architecture and a lot of charm. While there we tried pastes, a local specialty. They are pastries filled with sweet or savory ingredients, we preferred the sweet ones. We would have loved to stay longer and explore the town and surrounding area a little more. Hope to return soon! Enjoy y'all!
Loved it. Very small and quaint. Lovely people, pastes and climate. I highly recommend a trip here. The English cemetery, the basalt prism park and nearby Pachuca.

This is a magical place. The building is perfectly preserved, they have full early XX century furniture and equipment. It's a bit scary, but that's just fine. They have a white rabbit that wanders around the garden. Do no miss it, the guide is wonderful. It's very, very cheap.
There is so much to see and do in the Pueblo Mágico of Mineral del Monte (aka Real del Monte), but you must take some time to visit this wonderful museum. It is the site of what was considered, at the time, the best hospital in all of Mexico. This is a mining town and this hospital, with doctors and nurses from Mexico and around the world, treated the miners. The miners suffered from serious injuries and grave lung diseases. You can see what was the highest technology of its time used in the diagnosis and treatment of the miners. Please don't miss this treasure of Mexican history. It is also a beautiful reminder of the good that comes from people and countries cooperating with, and helping one another. Viva la amistad!
It's an incredible experience, it's a guided visit all throughout years and years of the history of medicine. It's organized good and the guides are nice.
Unique museum with a great collection

(Translated by Google) When you visit Real del Monte, you can't miss the Occupational Medicine Museum. It's a must-see to understand how miners were treated in the event of an accident during their workday. A walk through its halls, along with the original furniture and utensils, transports you to another era and allows you to appreciate the difficult working conditions of those times. Wonderful experience for a very low price. We had fun making our own paste and learned a lot of interesting historical facts about the influence the English had on the town, the region and the country.
They don't let you take pictures and the coffee shop doesn't really have much. So, no food options. Also, there are very limited flavor options to make your own paste. The place is clean yet small and most of the tour time is taken in an audiovisual room where they tell you some of Hidalgo's story
The guy on the entrance was utterly rude, didn't want to sell tickets in advance because their next guided visit was half an hour later, despite being a public museum they said they have no restroom service. Such a bad attitude of the guy in the front desk when I just asked a question about the price and content of the museum.
So fun, interesting. There were guides that were able to speak a rough translation of English but there are lots of pictures and things to see. You can get the idea. The fun came in when they gave the group a cooking lesson and demonstrated and we all had a "hands on" lesson to cook our own pastes which we later cooked & consumed. The kids really loved it. Place is clean and nice. COLD! So be prepared for the altitude and the very chilly temps!!
2015/12 Entrance fee MXN$35 is included a class of making tasty paste by yourself. Rolling the wrappers, putting the prepared filling in, closing it. Funny and tasty. And the guide explain in detail of the history of Paste. We had fun here.
The museum is fantastic! You start by making your own English pasty and then are taken on a tour around the museum with a guide. The tour is in Spanish but there may be other available languages.
Learn the history of the "Paste" and how to make them too😋
It was a pretty good experience trying every paste that it was available I think it's a good place for other people to visit but it's just my opinion

Blown away. Great beer, incredible rustic decor, amazing service courtesy of Rogelio, the owner. We had a killer sweet stout and blonde ale. Be warned: Google shows the location of this gem as being several blocks from where it is. It's definitely worth the search, though.
For a start up brewery, they absolutely nailed 3/4 beers on tap. I've always hoped a brewery would open up here and beat me to my dream, they did it and did it well. Nice little place and very happy to discuss brewing with you.
Delicious beer, they have a high-quality IPA!
