Great park with almost too much area inside the fenced area. So much to explore for all ages of children. I didn't get to go to all areas of the park Kids originally said the slide was not hot, but then said it was, however continued to climb up the top of the eye-killing shiny slide. Plenty of shade and seats and water bubblers
Loved it! Easy parking. Wonderful environment, right on the water. Free BBQ's available. Cafes nearby, if needed. What's not to love! ❤️
What a great place for kids to run around and enjoy a great day out. The facilities are great with toilets, cafes, lake and walkways nearby. There are fun festivals and markets to bisit around it. Great for birthday parties as well as any type of family/friend gatherings. Closed off so it is safe for kids and parents. The only problem is that the dogs aren't allowed even with leash on.
Beautiful park! Clean and well designed. 2 cafes, restrooms, outdoor gym equipment, playground, and an art gallery on site. There are ramps for boats & jetskies as well. A decent walking path goes all the way to Warners Bay with wonderful scenery especially on a sunny day. I went on Sunday & there was a market there. I believe it's every Sunday. The park suits a lot of activities. Worth going back for sure.
It's a lovely playground and park. Shaded and fun. Recommended to spend an hour on the way to/from Sydney and Taree area. The care is noted as 7 days but it was shut when we were there.
It’s so beautiful here. Come see for yourself 😀 there’s a market on sometimes so check the calendar. There’s a restaurant called Table 1. Great food great service good prices. Beautiful views over the lake. Take a walk to the speeds point jetty. 😀
One of the best playgrounds in lake Macquarie. The playground itself is fully fenced and has a wide range of play equipment for the kids, there is a large grassed area perfect for picnics, games or just chilling out. They often hold events there like markets, festivals and concerts.
Speers Point Park is an exceptional park and playground that truly deserves a five-star rating. The park offers a wide range of activities for all ages, from the state-of-the-art playground with its impressive climbing structures and water play area to the scenic walking and cycling paths along the lake. The picnic and barbecue facilities are plentiful and well-maintained, making it an ideal spot for gatherings. The stunning views of Lake Macquarie add to the park's charm, providing a serene backdrop for a relaxing day out. The frequent events and markets held here also bring a vibrant community feel. Speers Point Park is a gem that guarantees a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The staff were very friendly and informative we enjoyed the exhibits that were on display at the time. We enjoyed a meal and coffee at the Cafe and afterwards we had a wander through the gardens looking at the sculptures on display.
0/10. Despicable customer service. When we entered the owner was arguing at full volume with an 80 year old woman about whether she actually ordered a biscuit or not. We ordered a soy latte and received a dairy milk latte. Ordered two sandwiches and received one. Sandwich had ingredients not listed on the sign. Exceptionally rude customer service who clearly doesn't listen. The so-called saviour of coffee is more like the beacon of bad hospitality. Guessing he owes that lady a biscuit.
Lovely spot by the lake get a coffee and enjoy the art museum also enjoyed the speed boats today from there verandah
Great museum which offered a contemporary interpretation of Lake Macquarie and Newcastle's urban development through art. The sculptures by the lake were also well worth seeing.
Wonderful art exhibitions. Each so different and incredible Free guided tours 11 am on Wed and Sat.
Great venue with large gallery space - currently showing exceptional, local, VCE art student work. There is also a cafe with beautiful food, coffee and sweets and a sculpture garden towards the lake.
Bright and airy gallery space, set amongst expansive waterside parkland dotted with sculptures and large trees. Interesting history of adjacent old house. Ample parking and comfortable cafe.
Really enjoy this Museum with its lakeside location, cafe and interesting exhibitions and gift shop that boasts a range of artistic, educational and decorative gifts for ever budget. The indigenous designed silk ties were beautiful and the children's toys were also really good. Would recommend you don't rush your visit and plan a coffee or meal at the cafe as well or a picnic lunch by the lakeside grounds.

A glorious place to marvel the beauty of old architecture and peace of mind. To feel sand between your toes, feel the wind in your hair, and the smell of the ocean fills your nose is to fill your mind with peace and your heart with joy.
Nice beach to spend time, much quiet than other beaches. We went there during cloudy weather, but it will be nice during sunny weather
Great beaches, always feels a bit like yesteryear which is great
Great beach. Signs are confusing. Says dogs are allowed on leash, then says no dogs. Took it that dogs aren't allowed towards the swimmers and kept well away. Lovely and and lots of parking. Hidden gem.
The remains of the historical coal loading pier on the southern end of the beach is a great place to wander around when the tide is right. The beach itself is popular too, and is patrolled. Free parking is available.
Amazing beach, crystal clear water, so many local people and almost no tourists. This patroned beach is ideal for family with children but will suit anyone that comes for a swim and sunbathing! Highly recommended.
Team Gavan, Stone Real Estate, having a fabulous day at Catho Beach. Never disappoints and so gorgeous.
Lovely spot for a swim and walk along the beach. The beach is patrolled and there is an area where you can take your dog.

You can't go past Hoyts for value. I buy the $15 membership each year, as i love the standard recliner seats available for all movies, the rewards are achievable plus the discounted tickets and bottomless popcorn is the best ticket you're ever going to find. Thanks for a wonderful experience every time Hoyts.
Great recliner seats for all. Good selection of shows catering for young children especially during school holidays. Parking can be an issue sometimes. Staff are always an issue as those selling tickets also follow up getting the food and drink items whilst everyone waits their turn. Food prices are a premium like all theatres sadly.
We attended the theatre at Charlestown on the 22nd January at the time I asked for 2 children and 2 pensioner tickets the young lady then asked us if we were members. I said no and she proceeded to give us the information which was fine but what wasn't ok was she then charged me for 2 adults and 2 pensioner tickets. Unfortunately I didn't see the total immediately but later that day I checked and realised the mistake. I tried several times to call but could not get an answer. The next day I returned to Charlestown a good 40min trip and was told that as it was the next day I would receive a gift card by email in the next few days. I'm still waiting and not impressed at all.
Loved relaxing at the movies at Hoyts Charlestown. Nice clean cinema. Comfy recliner chairs to sit back, relax and enjoy the movie. A good way to remove oneself from the hustle and bustle of daily life and chill out for a couple of hours.
So today I was running late for a movie with my two nephews and I was met by a young lady who completely went out of her way to help me use the "Her" gift card I'd been given that could be used at hoyts but needed to be used online. She went above and beyond for me and my nephews and it really was more than I could've asked for. Her name is Hallie. I can honestly say she left an impression that I don't think I'll ever forget- it's actually rare to meet someone as kind and patient as she was. Thank you Hallie your goodness will stay with me and you absolutely turned a gloomy day into a bright one.
We went for a movie. There is plenty of parking just nearby and a nice ambience at the start. The theatre is good with leg space and all reclining seats.
Monday 23rd June will in the afternoon I lost a wallet in the cinema. The Manager on at the time went above and beyond to help me try to locate my wallet I could not be more impressed with her professionalism and genuine care for my situation. Thankyou so much for your help. Unfortunately I was so stressed out I didn't get her name. Definitely worth much more money what an assets to the business. I hope this message gets passed on to her and is seen by the management and HR. Thankyou soooo much Lisa ✨🦋🌸🦋✨
Unfortunately they have a deal called family saver which attracts lots of bogans and their rat bag kids. Some degenerate woman was lying across our seat when we arrived and refused to move. We were given a refund by the kind staff. Readings isn’t as busy luckily so happy to pay a premium to go there if it’s not full of grubs.

Modern, well maintained park on the shores of Lake Maquarie close to a small row of shops and connecting to a substantial bike track. Park has a flying fox, swings, slippery dip and climbing frame. There's also a lovely old tree that the kids have been climbing for years 🌳
Beautiful spot on the lake macquarie. The F jetty. In this area there is a fantastic skate park, swings, multiple parks and fishing
It’s so beautiful here! You are literally on the water, enjoying the many facilities and beautiful open space. Bbqs available, playground, picnic tables, toilets, bike play area, car park and lots of picnic spots.
Great playground right on the waterfront plenty of parking, a little fish and chip shop up the road food was good, also a court for basketball a pathway for riding and plenty of shade to set up your spot
Quite, peaceful, play area for kids available, water front.
Nice clean park . No fire places .
Excellent place for the family. Coffee van most weekends.
Absolutely had a ball swimming in this little spot. I didn't think I would be fond of the seaweed underfoot but it honestly feels like grass. Good pair of Polaroid sunnies and you can see the white sand spots to swim out to. Beautiful clear water. Definitely take a hat or some type of shade as there isn't much of it on the water front but that would be the only downside to this spot. Wasn't over crowded at all the times I've been down. Great for paddle boating or any type of water sport.

Great 4WD destination with beautiful dense forest scenery. Tons of tracks to try out for vehicles and drivers of all levels! Don’t forget the recovery gear if you’re looking to challenge yourself - reception is available but can be spotty sometimes.
we drove a little way to this big area with a few million trees and a few roads running through it. dunno why people r worried about global warming, i think we have lots of trees the road is bumpy. it has rocks on it. the light was soooo pretty tho. looks like one of those made up photoshop photo that people fake. like i was overdosing on prettiness. love how pretty it was. would be so cool for like photoshoots n stuff, we ate good food too. probably easy to get lost tho. dont get lost. the goannas might eat u. yum yum. dont get kidnapped. whe it get dark i can imagine u could get kidnapped. so jus dont be a kid and u wont get kidnapped. good for a fire.
Great little day trip with a variety of camping spots Easy walk to the waterfall. Heaps of cool look outs that are relaxing and have great aspects over Lake Macquarie Highly recommend as a quick weekend adventure.
Super relaxing and lovely forest 🌳 Full of different trees, plants, insects and more. Lovely place to go for a walk and listen the cicadas and waterfall. Is a bit complicated to go down the waterfall so is a track full of trees in the middle and big stones. Ideal for meditation or yoga if you like it and also was some people doing some climbing with a rope there too.
Beautiful place, going to the Falls is a must visit. You will love this place after visiting the Falls and spending some time there. You won't really be able to swim as the water is shallow. The path to reach the Falls will take about 45 min but worth the pain. NO PAIN NO GAIN. Some steep steps down, any kids should be watched on by a parent as getting down and coming back up is a hard journey. ❤❤. You will love the falls
Amazing Australian forest. Make sure to bring some mosquitos repelent b3cause you will definitely need one. Very humid environment. If you go down the waterfall treck you will have a refreshing reward at the end.
A relatively off the beaten path feel for National Park close to suburbia. Would be good for 4WD (mostly dirt roads) and mountain biking. Did a short loop walk through the rainforest which was good.
If you can visit on a weekday - it's alot quieter. Beautiful forest areas, some with fern lined roads. Lots of beautiful bird calls. Mostly need an AWD for access as there's often lots of potholes and some are quite deep. Wouldn't recommend a sedan in most parts. If a road says unmaintained - it is only for the seasoned 4WD drivers. Must take own food, water & drinks. Take away your own rubbish. Remember insect repellant & be prepared for leeches in damp areas. Be sure to check your maps before entering the park as there may be no service in some areas.

Great place for a picnic or just a day out. Toilet facilities, BBQs and plenty of space for family fun. The climb to the summit was easy, probably 30 steps or so, and a steep hill climb. Kids could do it easy. Might take 10-15 from the top carpark to walk there max. A bit of graffiti and some rubbish but what do you expect on an open track these days. All in all recommend this highly.
Always a favourite for the family. The walk around the towers takes approx 15 mins and is easy. Beautiful scenery. The walk up to the lookout is easy, a few stairs, takes about 10 mins each way and has amazing views.
The walk up was one of my favourite walks i’ve done. Can be tedious to get to if you don’t have your own transport, but definitely worth it. The views not only on the top, but the whole way up were impeccable. Towards the summit there is a trail to show you the view from multiple angles and points, which I highly recommend. I followed the road on the way down, as opposed to the trail up, which was abit sketchy and points. It was disappointing seeing the amount of litter and rubbish cars had thrown out along the way, but oh well
Would b beautiful if the disgusting pigs picked up their own rubbish n this is why good people n families get locked out of amazing locations by stupid governments who do it cause pigs r to lazy to take rubbish away with them n put it in a bin Grow up everyone and look after these places so they remain open for all to see experience n enjoy Take nothing but fotos leave nothing but footsteps
Really amazing place. We spend a beautiful Saturday morning here today. We have a hot beacon and eggs breakfast that we cooked on the barbecue in the area. It's a shame that not many people take care of the place and you get to find rubbish everywhere. There some trucks and bush walk to pick from. Beautiful place for a picnic or a sunset moment. Will come back wirh the family next time. Plenty of parking space and rubbish bins. Also I found some public toilet facilities.
Nice place. It's a nice quite place to picnic (further down from main carpark/lookout) however facilities are basic and outdated. A few great walks around the area though.
Nice views and walking trails. Sadly, it's defaced by vandals who think they are clever by putting graffiti on signs or doing burns outs in the carparks and on the road, leaving black tyre marks everywhere. These things detract from the wonderful vistas and nature, but that aside, Mt Sugarloaf is certainly an easily-accessible location from Newcastle with good walking trails and amazing views. It's surprising how high you are.
The views is great but the mess left there by hoons, doing burnouts leaving rubber bits everywhere and rubbish.

Wasn't sure about Charlestown square at first but have grown to love it. And it has a Pattersons. Good coffee, good cakes, good sandwiches, good lord I'm full now😋🤣😉
It is SO BIG. I'd have liked more signage but the lady at the Information desk was helpful, as were the other two people I asked for direction! The car park kennels are also enormous. Perhaps a bit more than one title for the whole of one level would be helpful, with directions and signage accordingly.
Wonderful opportunity to keep the whole family engaged - the highlights was Top Nails manicure for mum and a peruse in the Lego store for the kids + the Secret garden play area never disappoints
Its a good centre but they need to update the old section to match the newer part as it looks tired and disconnected from the other part, overall it has what you need and parking is easy to navigate and get out, food court is ok with plenty of seating,
I could only stay for a short time because the music was way too loud. I don’t understand why they have to play it that loud — I couldn’t enjoy my coffee or food at all. The music was so harsh it felt like it was attacking my heart. Really didn’t like it.
Charlestown Square is a shopper's paradise. The multiple food courts offer dining options for shoppers making a day of it. The cinemas provide a fantastic movie-watching experience with comfy seating and top-notch sound. The mall itself is beautifully designed, with a plethora of stores to explore. It's a must-visit destination for retail therapy and entertainment.

A very well maintained homage of the late, great William Dobell. I really enjoyed the studio to see how he painted - also it’s just a lovely space to hang around in for a while.
Great place to visit. It was very interesting, and the preamble information session was a very good explanation of Dobell's life.
Dobell Family Holiday house. Interesting family history manned by volunteers. Beautiful setting.
A fantastic piece of Australian art history. Beautifully preserved and still very much alive
Wonderful little adventure for those interested in history or art.
The Volunteers were lovely - very friendly and helpful. They gave a real insight into Dobell the man, as well as the artist.

Caught the train from Sydney to Fassifern, then hike about 3.9 km to this historic old station. It's a beautiful spot if one imagines what it was like alighting here. The old platform and the station house are still intact as if one can sit and wait for the next train. It's worth a visit if you feel nostalgic about this place. It's about a three minute walk to the town centre.
Beautifully preserved part of history of the Toronto branch line. It is now used by the Lake Macquarie and district Historical society. The station itself it in good condition and the railway track has been converted into a rail trail
A well preserved piece of local history, hopefully the trains will one day travel here again.
Netty. Was. Here. For a stroll along the foreshore this little hidden historical gem can be found down along the waterfront if you walk towards Toronto Hotel.
it is a lovely place, i would visit it every day if i could, the area in general is amazing

Really nice and quiete place !!! Nice small bushwalk not really well indicated but still pretty easy to go. There is a nice swim, or fishing spot... you can have a nice time over ther if you brig everything you need for the day.
Nice serene bushwalk, fun for kids and adults.
I don't remember being here at all. I did not know this place was a place
Absolutely stunning - one of the best walks I have done in a while. Beautiful views across the calm lake waters. We saw all kinds of birds - rainbow lorikeets, king parrots, cockatoos, galahs, crimson rosellas... Being spring, it would have been too cold for swimming unfortunately, but on the plus side, there was all types of flowers on the way
Serene and quiet with beautiful views. Camping grounds and walking tracks around
Nice walk through the bush. Good spot for swimming.
Wangi Wangi point is a beautiful little headland about 3-4 minutes walk from the car park. It's a nice track with an easy gradient most of the way and a small pebble and sand beach at the end. Not much grass so take a rug if you want to picnic. There is one small bench seat.

What a Beautiful place to have a Market Stall No getting Wet here ! I sell Unisex Hats,Bakers Caps , Scarves hand bags.some Kiddies Skirts & cotton Cloths .. Noblehouse
the highlight was the 'josie coffee' van. the staff in the van were incredibly friendly, and even gave us a little taster of a different fresh brew with their other beans, while we were waiting. probably the best customer experience ever and the most lovely staff I've ever encountered. altogether, pretty awesome markets. they're small, but all of wonderful produce. we purchased some avocados, strawberries and a macrame bag. some awesome dogs too.
A great place to go on a Saturday, with plenty of stalls and live entertainment.
What an awesome little market. Obviously very popular as it was super busy the whole time we were there. Stall holders were all such lovely people! We decided not to venture out to one cafe's around shopping centre, instead we grabbed morning tea from the vendors & sat in the lovely seating area. Highly recommended.
I miss the community atmosphere of the Markets at Speers Point. Such a beautiful open space for families to buy food and sit & enjoy it on the grass under a tree or at one of the covered picnic tables, & then perhaps pop into the playground for a bit of fun. I understand the reason behind the move to Glendale, especially with the weather being so wet in recent times, but it's just not the same in a great big crowded concrete car park.
A great spot to visit on a Saturday morning! Loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, honey, flowers, eggs, meat, coffee, honeycomb and more. Friendly vendors, good prices and unbelievably good local produce. We'll be back!
The markets are great, fresh produce, good prices and quality. The café was terrible, after waiting at the register to order $50 od breakfast for ages being ignored by the staff in the kitchen we walked out disgusted , never to return. 😬
i went to the new location for lake macqaurie farmers market. All i can say it has lost its appeal since changing from the speers point park. It's a long walk but a great one, no hills, plenty of rest areas and excellent views around lake Macquarie. Take water!
Just got there when the sun was setting, so didnt have that much time to explore around before the dark. But it was worth the mossie bites and getting swooped by noisy miners! Seatings provided to enjoy the calm and the view, also there were people who were running, biking, and even fishing.
Not a must seen, but nice short walk over a bridge. Use it for a walk around the beautiful lake.
A boardwalk that enhances the experience of viewing Lake Macquarie. Designed in such a way that graffiti is difficult and vandalism nigh on impossible as evidenced by the lack of such destruction. The words engraved on the steel rails reinforce the connection of local Aboriginals to the land, and emphasise how most of what the Indigenous once had was taken away by the White Man. All that is left are tribal names. Sad and worth remembering. Popular place for a walk around the bay.
A nice walk daytime morning evening gorgeous views of the lake
Really lovely family walk, fun, sightful & little romantic. The people seem to be even more friendlier/curtious/ smiling on that broadwalk. We always spot 2 sting rays every time. Bek, Sami& I enjoy every family moment there. ChEerS Matt.

Best pool I've ever been!! The water is not full of cholrine, does not burn the eyes and nose. Its pristine!!! Well taken care of. Never going to other toxic pee pits again!
The pool is well-maintained, clean, and welcoming. The staff are always friendly, creating a warm atmosphere for visitors of all ages. The highlight is undoubtedly the learn-to-swim school, which is top-notch. The instructors are patient, skilled, and truly dedicated to helping swimmers build confidence and skills. A fantastic community resource for families!
I have been coming here for several months. Staff are very friendly. The pool is great. Change rooms are in good condition and the overall facilities seem to be fine for their age. Will continue coming back. Really happy with the happy hour cost for a swim. Thanks so much!!
Great pool,50mtr, not covered. there's a kiddies water play area with another small covered pool. Amenities are clean and tidy. You can use eftpos or cash at the canteen . They have swimming lessons and squad training. You can go and swim at your own leisure. Life guards on duty
As a customer for the past 40 years, the changes haven't been progressive. This centre is purely Swim Club focused. General customers are not treated well. Being under staffed might explain the rudeness of staff. I suggest a single unisex/ parent, child change room. Children over 8 are not permitted in the opposite sex amenity block. And the Canteen is ordinary, if you get served that is. Do better Lake Mac
Nice swim centre with big change rooms. Two pools. We went here for PST course arranged by TAFE. The staff was friendly and a section of the pill was cordoned off for us for the life raft exercises. The cafe though a tad on the pricey end did have coffee and refreshments
Great pool, nice shade and amazing lifeguards. Only issue is carpark is fully open and means your hot car on a hot day is gonna be a cooker by the time you get back. Besides that it's awesome pool.
Enjoyed home schoolers swimming carnival there. Staff helpful and friendly. Great pool. Everyone had a great time.
