I stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent overall, the reception staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and in great condition. The food service was quick, delicious, and reasonably priced, especially considering the remoteness of the area and the quality provided. The location is also ideal, with easy access to all the hikes the national park has to offer. I’ll definitely be coming back! Extra points for the thoughtful birthday detail they prepared for my partner, it made our stay even more special
This review is only relevant for powered caravan sites 1 and 2 and powered tent sites 1 and 2. The map that is given in reception is not to scale, nor are there signs for tent sites 1 and 2. We were given caravan powered site 2, when we arrived at the site there were 2 tents set up. Back to reception, they said they would send a staff member to sort it out. The staff member spent 15 minutes trying to find powered tent sites 1 and 2 and was also confused by the map. The tents in our caravan site should have been in powered tent site 2. The staff mamber said we could park our caravan in tent site 2, however they site was not suitable to park a caravan. Staff went to the people in canavan site 2 and told them to move their tents etc to tent site 2 and left. We sorted out that the tents could stay were they were and we parked our van on the same large site and share for the 2 nights we were both in the park. About a hour later another car looked very lost and was driving around. They came to van site 1 and asked if that was the tent site - lucky we now knew where powered tent site 1 was and walked them over to their site. Apart from the confusion with the sites the park is well run, IGA is well stocked with food and some camping equipment. Free drinking water in 10L cubes is available for all campers. Location of the park means there are several walks that start within the park, and easy access to drive to other attractions in the area. We will visit again, would be good if the park could sort out signs for powered tent sites 1 and 2 and make the map more to scale (or at least have the powered sites opposite each other thr same on the map)
Stayed in Edeowie room.Nice spacious clean rooms with tv,small fridge, microwave, stovetop & all dishes etc for self catering. We also ate in restaurant & food was very good. Staff all friendly & helpful. We had a flight & booked a couple of tours with young Samuel who was a great driver & guide & extremely knowledgeable.(well worth doing!) Trey who we did a half hour flight with also was great…very informative and made us feel relaxed with his flying & humour. Thank you all for our great stay…Joan & Ari
The rooms are clean and very comfortable but get one with self catering if you are staying for a few days. The store has enough food to make meals. Wilpena Pound resort is situated in a magnificent woodland of red gums. The walks are stunning with rehabilitated bush, now goats have been removed. Some of the walks are on flat open roads, so easier to access for people who have balance issues or can’t walk far. You can still enjoy the natural beauty everywhere you look. You can also choose to take a shuttle bus along one of the walks. The cultural walking tour is a must do. It was so relaxing to choose a walk each day, take it slowly and be surprised by the diversity of vegetation, the changing light on the rocks and the local wildlife you encounter on the way.
We stayed in the glamping accommodation. The 2 person room is about 25sq metres, with air con and a balcony entry. There is alsoan adjoining bathroom. Other accommodation is more regular resort style. There is also powered and unpowered camp sittes. Large dining and bar area
We stayed in an unpowered site and were not informed that there were arborists pruning trees in and around our campsite from 8am-5pm during our entire stay (with tree branches falling 3m from our tent). The loud wood chipper and electric saws entirely compromised the serenity and there was saw dust flying into our eyes and food... We understand that the campsite needs to be maintained but not informing people that this will be happening during their stay is hazardous and in very poor form, considering many drive 5+ hours to get there. We ended up being completely refunded for our stay but really had to push for this with the assistant manager.
just had a meal at the resturant. I ordered Scotch fillet @ $ 46.00. I am an ex butcher and the steak I got wasn't Scotch fillet. it was cooked medium rare as i ordered but I needed a chainsaw to cut it and needed a mincer to make it tender enough to eat. A lot of gristle. I couldnt eat it .Told the waiter that I was dissatisfied and was told sorry. I don't usually write reviews but there was no offer to supply me a replacement steak or anything like that. The resort was itself was great, friendly service and very helpful staff. Would recommend the park but not the resturant.
Came here to stay as it’s a central location for adventuring around Flinders Rangers. Got a powered tent site. Another reason to pick here is they have a mini supermarket and a restaurant and pool. As I am motorcycle camping this is all a bonus as no need to carry food or cook. The restaurant food was delicious, and the pool very cooling. The ice blocks at the supermarket and cold beer are amazing on a 36 degrees day. A top up of petrol from there petrol station and continue adventuring! It’s a great Hub to explore from!

Did the mine tour, which was great. Small group. Knowledgable guide with local history and passion. The tour was great, but what blew me away was that the towns community of around 30 people made the whole mine tour from stratch. They manage and maintain the area. They developed a destination of interest to ensure the future of their community. How amazing is that!
Very nice mine tour that is appropriate for all ages. We brought a 4 year old and near the end of the tour it was hard to keep him focused and not trying to touch everything, but he made it the full hour tour, but it is hard to keep their attention that long. It was a very informative tour and the tour guide was great. Definitely book tickets in advance as they do sell out.
I suffer pretty badly with claustrophobia. Our tour guide Rehannon (sorry if i spelt that wrong) was simply amazing. Not only a great history teller, but could see when I was struggling and allowed me to take a beat or would make a joke to help me through. For the price this is an amazing thing to do. Highly recommend and thanks to the wonderful staff. Im so glad I pushed through and did it.
Fantastic town. Great pies and the Blinman mine tour was outstanding. Our guide Deb was super informative. I walked away with a real appreciation of how hard life was for the old timers who worked there, and also learned a lot about local history. Highly recommend. Thanks Deb!
What an amazing tour, we weren’t planning on doing it but so so glad we did. It’s was so good to hear about the history of Blinman. The tour guide was very good, funny and informative. Highly recommend doing.
Julian, the guide, was very enthusiastic about the mine and area giving a great run down of just what went on here over 120 years ago. After a sign in at the information centre it was off the mine about 1km away. Just past the chimneys. The mine itself feels very safe where we can visit but other parts look very scary😳 There’s a number of tools that have been found along with other items miners used. So much to learn about the area, the smartest guy was the guy that registered the initial claim and never dug anything himself! Well worth doing
Highly recommend this tour great hour spent down the mine looking at all the different areas and hearing all the stories. Great even for younger kids and older people as it's quite an easy going tour on the ear and body. So much good info and the tour guides are fantastic people. If you are looking for somewhere to stay see Mike one of the tour guides.
Our guide was one of the many volunteers caring for and running the old mine. Blinman exists outside of any local government boundary, so the local community association had to do all it can to raise funds needed for basic services for the town and surrounding district. After many years of hard work, the closed-down mine has become a tourist attraction, and a source of income for the community. When you visit here, you're not boosting the profits of a business. You're providing services, building playgrounds, and keeping the town alive in a very direct way. The tour itself is a very interesting look at mining methods and the life of the miners and their families. The influence of the Cornish mining community is very strong, and still felt today. The stories told by our guide (with additional light and sound effects) we're a great way to learn what happened back when the mine was active. Well worth the visit. Take time to enjoy a self guided walk around the area also. During the tourist season (cooler months of the year) you can pick up a traditional Cornish pastie at the shop. Do book first to be sure of a place. You cannot join the tour after it has begun.

Great historic site to explore. Highly recommend having closed in shoes so you can walk around without worry. There are interpretive signs explaining the buildings. Also, there are large bull ant nests around the site - they do swarm if you get too close to protect their nest area. They do bite and yes it hurts and could send you to hospital if you’re allergic.
We enjoyed walking around the ruins and soaking up its history. On the way to the cemetery the dry creek bed has huge picturesque river gums.
Great information signs to tell you more about the homestead and area. Definitely worth a stop in to imagine what life might have been like long ago
This 1860's Station property will blow your mind!!! From shearers shed, shearers quarters, huts, stone house and much much more is still standing as ruins to wander around. Learn about the history of the sheep station and don't forget to check put the cemetery behind the mens kitchen hut. Part of this property joins up with the waterhole walk down to Death Rock water hole. You can either walk the path from the homestead or gain access further south on the Flinders Ranges Way.
nothing profound, compared to other large ruin sites. If you have not seen one before, have a look. Though we preferred the riverbed walking instead of the ruins..
Amazing to walk around the ruins and imagine what life would have been like here. A must stop if you're driving past on the way to or from Wilpena.
Awesome back in the 1860's experience. Let's you get a feel for the harshness if that area. Don't just drive by. You'll miss out.
Well worth stopping to look at these ruins. Good information boards and lots of ingesting photo options.

Amazing experience! We did the 30-minute scenic flight over Wilpena Pound. It was stunning. The pilot was super kind and knew all about the area. Totally recommend it if you're around!
Three of us recently took a flight from Rawnsley Park Station to get a great look at Lake Eyre from the air. One of the best things I have ever done. We firstly got a great look at Wilpena Pound and the Marre Man. Wow! It was amazing to see so much of the Flinders Ranges form the air. We also flew over Roxby Downs, Leigh Creek, the opal mining town of Andamooka and Lake Torrens. We landed at William Creek Hotel for lunch before the return trip home. Our pilot Aiden was the perfect man for the job. His knowledge of the area was excellent.
We had an exceptional flight out of Rawnsley Park Station over Flinders Ranges, our pilot was full of knowledge. Perfect weather and visibility. We booked and paid for the 60 minute scenic flight, however from boarding to disembark was only 45mins, so we paid them an extra $105 pp without the experience, so that was disappointing, it appeared they needed to get back for the day trip to Lake Ayre, this is the reason they for the stars rating!
Chinta Air offers an unforgettable experience with scenic flights over Wilpena Pound, departing from Rawnsley Park Station. Their flights provide breathtaking views of the Pound and its surrounding area. The pilots are highly informative, enhancing the experience. Overall, it’s a must-do for anyone seeking a memorable adventure in the region.
Wow, how fortunate were we. Two day flight from Rawnsley Park, over the Flinders Ranges, stopping at Innamincka, Coopers Creek crossing, overnight at Birdsville, where we did the Big Red tour, back along the Diamantina/Warburton River to Lake Eyre North and South, Maree Man, lunch at Maree, over Leigh Creek, back over the Flinders Ranges to return to Rawnsley Park for the night. (That is the short version). Weather - perfect. Pilot Aiden - amazing. Information/commentary - exceptional. Experience - wonderful-never to be forgotten. Hospitality - outback Australian at its best. Originally planned to just do a day flight, but the cost of the two day flight faded into insignificance compared to the return for our investment. The two day flight went above and beyond our expectations. Thanks so much to Felicity for her assistance, reassurance, research, question answering during the booking process-her sense of humour was not so bad either. Also for finding a fourth guest who fitted with the rest of us like a glove. This is not a luxury tour, but this is a comfortable and genuine, Australian outback experience and we three LOVED it.
We pre-booked before we went on holiday our 1hr scenic flight over Wilpena Pound. Our pilot was Andrew he was awesome very professional & his commentary was very informative. WOW JUST WOW Wilpena Pound is GORGEOUS. The landscape & scenery from above is majestic. Thank you for a beautiful experience on our 1st morning of travels. A DEFINITE MUST DO.
Amazing experience travelling from Rawnsley to Lake eyre over Wilpena pound. Pilot Aidan was very professional his commentary was fantastic and full of knowledge of the region. Our country is so incredible from the air. Thank you
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the pilot Felicity was very knowledgeable. The views during the flight were incredible and the meal at William Creek Hotel was great. However, we travelled in the 7 seater plane which was VERY rough on the inside. Roof lining falling down, back of seat broken and the window surround trim kept popping out. We also froze on the morning flight as we were unable to turn some of the air vents off because parts were missing. We also noticed oil leaking at the lower part of the left wing near the fuselage. We felt that the plane needs lots of attention.

I loved this because it was different. There were people with torches etc as you actually have to wade through very deep water which I didn’t as I had someone with me who didn’t go in at all. But even if you don’t want to, still go in as there first little section isn’t that deep and looks great! I went in with my phone in my top so it didn’t get wet. I also wore socks to protect my feet which I recommend. It’s basically a massive cave, there are apparently animals in there which I didn’t see. It said on the sign there were freshwaters in there but they aren’t aggressive unless you bug them. I honestly didn’t see any animals. (And wonder how you wouldn’t bug them when you don’t know where they are, as it’s so so dark in there. Only reason I could see was my phone torch and other peoples torches. But it is awesome.. parts you go through water and some parts just sand banks. Quite quick to get up to the bigger and deeper section if your to go through that part. It’s also very close to the carpark. Maybe 5 min walk to the tunnel/cave entrance.
An outback cave experience. It has reasonable information boards well maintained shelters and picnic tables the bush toilets were in good condition for facilities a long way from an administrative centre. There is a difficult entry to the cave which limits access to the disabled, young children and seniors. An adventure to reach and experience.
My hubby did this, and he said it was good. Water at the time was chest high, but manageable, bit cold. Only a hard bit was climbing over a few big boulders in the beginning. Note-make sure you have proper shoes or wet shoes, not thongs, crocs or sandals, due to slipperiness.
September 22 What an amazing walk through the tunnel and a bit scary. You definitely need a head torch and would also recommend shoes as the rocks are sharp even in the sand. Water depth varies each year. Don't be afraid to see fresh water croc that live there. Pretty awesome experience, even got to see some.
Loved it, it is totally worth a visit, however bring a torch and be prepared to get wet.
A different experience to all the gorges and waterfalls. The history of the local uprising in the late 19th century makes it an even more interesting experience
Pretty unique experience to walk through a river cave tunnel with bats and fresh water crocs
Keep to the edges in the creek in the tunnel the middle goes over your head. Ask me how I know.

We travelled as part of a 4 caravan group, we stayed on the ensuite sites. We all loved it and enjoyed camp fires at night after beautiful sunsets, especially when we drove up to Sunset Hill. Only a few km out of Blinman and close to attractions such as Glass Gorge, Brachina Gorge, Wadna Cultural Centre, Prairie Hotel etc. Sally and her husband lovely people and keen to give advice on the area.
Love staying at their Horseyard campground. Amazing spot, right in the heart of drives, walks and amazing scenery. Sally is super helpful as well, just a great place to camp, chill and stay.
Loved our 3 nt camp in Bill's Paddock. You'll need everything on-board, but there are bush toilets if required. Byo firewood. There are facilities in main camp area @1km, for powered sites, camp kitchen etc. We took the 4wd track out to the hut... it's a rough slow 7km and an enjoyable drive, also up to Sunset Hill with amazing views. About 10 mins drive into Blinman, and recommend the bakery/Cafe. There is also a scenic drive in this section of Ranges. The hosts were very friendly and we would love to come again.
This place is a top pick! Better than Wilpena Pound Resort and Rawnsley Park Station in our opinion. We selected the 'best of both worlds' accommodation which got us away from everyone/ everything and off grid, but we had the private use of a beautiful clean ensuite back near the Station whenever we needed it. Brilliant camp sites next to a knarly dry river bed lined with huge gums. Close to Blinman where there are lots of drives to do, a fantastic friendly bakery/cafe, mine tours and pub. Loved it and would highly recommend to anyone! We will definitely stay here again.
We had a great 5-day stay at Alpana Station. We parked our camper at one of the powered sites with ensuite. What a great facility having your own full size bathroom! Sally from Alpana was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. We did some amazing walks and 4WD drives. Top marks and highly recommended!
Another Gem in the Flinders, from on-ensuite powered sites to powered sites with accessto a toilet and free camping sites. This working sheep station has great history and the Henery Family do it proud. If you able when they are conducted do the 5 hour approx. tag along trip with Sally it's a must. Sally not only provides you with the history of the many generations of family and the station as your drive along but she also provides great information on the area and how it was formed. The Station is situation 5 km from Bliman and we did day trip most days to parachilna etc. and the Glass House gorge 30 km drive.we stayed 8 days. Thank you for a great Flinders experience
Another fabulous stay at Alpana, my tagalong tour group (The Offroad Tradies) stays here during our Flinders Ranges tour and it has never let us down. The camping area is spacious and shady. The option of a shower is welcomed and Sally is an amazing host. This year we had the time to do a Blinman Pools guided drive/walk with Sally and every guest commented on how informative it was and how much they enjoyed learning about the station and the area in general. We will continue to stay at Alpana for as long as we can. Thank you.
Stayed in the ensuite camping sites while cycling the Mawson trail. Super clean and convenient. Lovely station including the retired kelpie who hasn’t really accepted his retirement 🤩 a lovely welcome from the team😄
