Safe and fun riding around the island. Bikes are great, good equipment and instruction. Offered roadside assistance (didn’t need it). Locals are happy to share the road and were very generous, allowing us lots of space and preferential treatment (will literally stop in the middle of the road for us to cross). Group of 4 of us riding. LOVED it. Rode every day - a couple of times a day and at night as well. Roads are rough, but they were on the bus and in taxi’s as well. Road users aren’t going fast. I think it’s about 40-50km round the island. Book your bikes before you get there. Great company to deal with, friendly and extremely helpful.
Great service from this husband and wife team. Hired two e-bikes for the day. Being first timers, everything was well explained. Riding around the island was great fun. The road users are very friendly and give you enough space. Highly recommend hiring from them.
Had a blast ebiking around and exploring this piece of paradise. Easy setup on the bikes with everything explained before going sole charge 🙂 Well priced per day and you get to exercise during your travels at what ever level you wish depending on the assistance level from the e-bike. Highly recommend trying these out. See you next time guys 🏝️⛱️😁
We hired e bikes from Kelly and Shannon for 3 days and they were fantastic! They run a fabulous business and look after their customers with help on hand if you need it. Biking around Rarotonga is great, cars very respectful of bike riders. Would definitely hire again for longer next time. Thankyou.
From the moment you walked in you knew it was going to be a great experience, and it was. We hired 2 e-bikes for 2 days. Nice and reliable.and back up support was available if needed. We would hire again, cheers
Shan and Kelz are fantastic. They're friendly, so helpful and really took care of us, especially when I epically crashed (user error situation). I highly recommend this to anyone no matter your fitness level. It's a great way to see the island and meet locals via little side stores often missed when cruising via car/bus or scooter. The entire hire process was super easy, the bikes are great and well maintained. Will definately do again, just next time with proper shoes instead of jandals lol
Absolutely amazing service, awesome communication with our booking & making deposit, bikes waiting for us when we arrived, everything perfect with the whole process, 3rd time using these guys🥰 and we will be back again Great couple to have chats with Highly recommend. We have told some friends already about them. Love the bikes, easy to use/ride
Tik-E bikes - what a great way to see the Island, from the moment you make contact with the owners Shannon & Kelly, the entire process was easy, they were so helpful, the bikes were of a high standard & very well maintained. Riding around the Island of Rarotonga was a breeze, just being able to stop & take in the views when ever you wanted to - was just a bonus Would recommend this to anyone who is up for an adventure. My family and I enjoyed a fabulous six nights here at Castaway. The rooms were very comfortable, and clean. We loved the cocktails as the sun set and the food at the restaurant was delicious. Firaz and the team looked after us so well. Kind, friendly and professional. Thank you so much lovely Castaway crew. We absolutely loved our holiday.
We had such a wonderful experience dining at Castaway. We had accidentally booked a large table at Castaways Resort in New Zealand (oops) but we turned up and they managed to accommodate us. Delicious cocktails, great food and music but best of all the view! Firaz was incredibly attentive and entertaining. Thanks so much for looking after us team 🫶
I stayed here at the recommendation of another business traveler. Definitely choose the ocean view. I had a nice view of the water. The hotel is small and quiet. The staff is amazing, especially Minnie who makes you feel like family. I enjoyed the dogs, food, and drinks too. The room is nice and has been updated with modern features such as a flat screen TV. Not sure why, since you only get one channel and it's not clear. The parking is on the street. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the lack of breakfast. They provide bread, cereal, milk, bananas and juice for your room but I'm a morning person who enjoys a nice breakfast by the ocean. I'd stay here again.
We stopped in for dinner around sunset and we were not disappointed. We were lucky enough to have whales swimming past behind the waves as the sun was setting. A highlight of our trip. The local dogs and cats made for a fun dining experience, the food was tasty and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back.
We came here 2 years ago and had the seafood platter which contained crayfish, and was amazing. The atmosphere was also great so came back tonight. I was so looking forward to it. The seafood platter was disgusting. Same price as previous, no crayfish, lots of deep fried seafood, very dry smelly fish and so over priced at 130.00. NEVER going back! I dont usually do a review but So disappointed and worried I will get sick! I would not even give it one star!
It’s below 1 star rating. Would not recommend. Upon arrival staff did not advise upon using any of the facilities. Rooms were lacking essentials such as kitchen strainers, salt, tea etc and mirrors The pool was very dirty. They have false online advertisement of their rooms. They didn’t have a kayak yet they advertised they had. We paid for a buffet breakfast and we received a very basic continental breakfast. You can not drink tap water because the water there was contaminated and the resort didn’t give us water so we had to boil our own water for the 6 days so we have drinking water. The staff are not available after 2 pm and the bar/ restaurants only opened after 2pm. So if you needed any thing after 2 pm you can’t get any access to staff. The rooms were not sound proof. You can hear everything in the rooms next door and in the corridors as if they were with you in the room! On our last night they did not give us any towels, it was awful washing up after our last day on the beach!
Not too bad but leaves a bit to be desired. Facilitaties feel a bit rundown. Dishwasher wasn't working, proper hot water didn't work for a about a day (it is an island). Also no Wifi in the rooms which is noted when you book but easy to miss for some of our friends that booked in too. Bar and restaurant is okay, high point is their restaurant staff are great. Island night was fun. And made special considerations for some of our dietary requirements. Price point is not bad considering but some better options regarding facilitaties.
Firaz has served us twice now and has been amazing. The friendly service, going above and beyond and also just being so inviting. We absolutely love it here. Will return. Also, must try cocktail the Wilson’s Bounty 🤤

Tropical white-sand beach backed by a resort, popular with snorkelers for its coral & marine life.
Slide 1 of 8
I stayed in a walking distance bungalow from this wonderful beach stretching with a few interruption up to Black Rock. I snorkeled regularly in the lagoon at high tide, specially in the late afternoon till sunset. I was impressed by the variety of coral and sand fish species, and bigger pelagic species including spotted eagle sting rays, yellow spotted trevally, mureen eels, grand puffer fish and so many more, I have filled two pages of encountered species. Off course you will have the opportunity to see Hawksbill Sea Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) feeding on sea cucumbers! So do not hesitate to take a plunge starting off the Rarotongan resort swimming towards the reef barrier and following the coral rocks emerging from the white sandy bottom. It is a five stars experience! If you are not a swimmer but beach comber Aroa is also a great place to enjoy long walks accompanied by the rumbling sound of the Pacific waves.
The absolute best beach for snorkelling on the island. Not very busy (midweek) and a simply breathtaking experience being in the water here.
We loved this beach, perfect for beach time and snorkeling, we have seen lots of fish and even a turtle! We have diving course too in this lagoon it's quite big and safe the reef is not too close to the shore. We only had one day when the wind was strong and made it difficult to swim here.
Great spot for snorkelling, saw turtles and loads of other fish. If anyone reading this has also been to Southend beach in Essex, this is very different, much better actually. Saw a corgi get kicked out the resort next door for excessive barking, very funny.
October 2025- Tend to get crowded fast at 9:30am Shadow casting on the sand before 8:30am
Best place to snorkel on the island! we came here nearly ever day. I think the best way to experience the snorkeling is to slow follow the coral around the edge. On our last day we learned you can smash open a coconut and using a piece of rough coral you can grate the coconut which drives nearby fish wild to the point they can eat out of your hand!
Nice spot with parking available. Note that the sun is behind you for the entire day, which is especially true during winter months. Convenient access to the best snorkeling on the island, although the sand is definitely rougher than on the east side of the island.
Had a fantastic snorkeling experience. There is a tiny Palm Tree and a Water Faucet for washing your feet near the road. Go straight out from those land marks and about half way to the reef you'll have an amazing snorkeling experience. As you go out you'll begin to adventure through large pieces of coral...you're not there yet...you'll be there when you see it and you'll know because you'll be surrounded by many large coral and tons of fish. I'd say it was about 5 feet deep when I was out there...not sure of the tide status though...
