A popular local getaway, this Japanese island with a remote feel is an octopus and blowfish haven.

Nice place for day trip from Nagoya. Walk around the island take 2 to 3 hours to enjoy the nature and meals or coffee break at the restaurant or cafe.
I recently visited Himakajima and overall it was an interesting short trip. I went there mainly for swimming, and while the sea was not the clearest I have seen in Japan, it was still good enough to enjoy a refreshing swim on a hot day. One nice option on the island is to rent a bicycle and explore. The roads circle around the island, and the scenery is pleasant, but be prepared for some very steep slopes that can be quite tough if you are not used to cycling. I found it fun for a while, but honestly the island is rather small. After about three hours, I felt that I had already covered most of the main spots and started to run out of things to do. Still, for a half-day getaway from the mainland, Himakajima offers a relaxing atmosphere, local seafood, and a glimpse of island life.
We are visit in summer you have to use the boat to enter the island very beautiful 🤩
A nice small island close to the Aichi prefacture. It takes 20 minutes to travel from Kowa Port to this island. I heard that around 2000 people live here and it's very quiet and peaceful.
Great getaway from Nagoya. Easily accessible via Meitetsu train (40 mins from Kanayama), free shuttle bus (less than 5 mins) to the port ferry (20 mins). Hotels not super expensive and provide breakfast and evening meals and have hot bath onsens or sentos. There is a dolphin show in the summer too.
I went to there during this golden week with friends. Really nice ocean view , salty sea smell, delicious fresh meal but a little more expensive . Inconvenient thing is all the restaurant of waiting list are too long and some restaurant couldn’t serve no more and they immediately close it. We had a long search and waiting for 2hours for our lunch . If you have a plan to go Himakajima, please avoid public holiday and feel around the whole island by walking.
A beautiful island 🌴. Not too far from Nagoya.it’s one of a best place to enjoy the endless summer. Here hostels are comfortable and the price also affordable. Also here you can enjoy the taste of various seafoods 😉
I really love this place. It's very near just only 10 to 15min by ferry.

Beautiful massive sunflower and Kochia farm. Great for photos and cold dessert treats after a nice drive through multiple small towns.
Pay 800¥ to enter & you get to bring home 5 stems of sunflower. The area wasn't big, the flowers also weren't high enough for photo but still pretty. Best to come during blooming season around July-August
I've been living in Iepang for more than 1 year, this is the first time I've had the opportunity to go to a large sunflower garden. and very affordable for me. the entrance fee is very cheap besides that we are free to pick 2 sunflower stalks to take home. very happy isn't it. other than that the employees are very friendly, as a foreign citizen I am very lucky, to meet friendly Japanese people
Good value Red Bean Matcha Ice-cream with very nice garden view. 4.5 Stars
As mentioned in the name, this is a farm. Do not expect a structure similar to a flower park. Anyway, the landscape becomes beautiful when the flowers bloom. Usually there is an entrance fee that gives you the right to pick a certain amount of flowers.
This place has the potential to be very nice. There are fields of what are supposed to be flowers, but which were mainly just fields. To be fair, I visited not long after a series of typhoons so that might have been responsible for the lack of flowers. There were some sunflowers and cosmos. I will go again later and give another review if things have changed. There is a restaurant and a clean toilet.
Such an awfully awesome place, just that we need to come here early of the August for better choices of sunflowers as souvenir. Anyways, enjoyed the trip. We had fun there! 😉🌻

(Translated by Google) It is said that during Takeru Takeru's eastern expedition, Takeinade no Mikoto, who served as ``Hatagashira,'' was enshrined as the deity, and the company name was ``Hazu'' (Hazu), and it became Hazu Shrine. (There are various theories) It is also said to be derived from the ``Hakuto no Kami'', a god of the west of the bay, which was a belief of the ancient southern sea people. The Nanpo people are people of the sea who have connections from southern Kyushu to Okinawa, Taiwan, and as far away as Southeast Asia. They are distributed in the Shima Peninsula, Chita Peninsula, and Kii Peninsula, where the ama culture remains, as well as in Munakata and Awaji Island, where the three goddesses of Munakata are known, and are thought to have served as a maritime route from the Seto Inland Sea to Southeast Asia. Tomigashira means the entrance to a port, and it is thought that it was an important place to pray for safety before heading out to sea, and it is thought that people prayed to the god of Tomigashira before setting out on a boat or fishing trip. The enshrined deity, Kenina Tane-no-Mikoto, was one of the ruling families of the Kofun period, Owari Kunizo, and has a younger sister, Miyazuhime. Miyazaki Hime was the person Takeru of Japan met in Owari Province on his way back from his expedition to the east, and they made a promise of marriage. After that, Takeru Nihon set out to kill the savage god of Mt. Ibuki and left the Kusanagi sword with Miyazaki Hime. However, it is said that Takeru Nihon fell ill at Mt. Ibuki and died in Ise Province without returning to Owari. The origin of Atsuta Shrine is said to be that Takeru of Japan entrusted the Kusanagi sword to Miyazaki Hime. Shiritsune no Mikoto, the son of Kenine Tane no Mikoto, served as a minister to the 15th Emperor Ojin. Kenine Tane no Mikoto himself served the Imperial Court during two generations: the 12th Emperor Keiko and the 13th Emperor Seimu. It is said that he led the army as vice general during Takeru Takeru's eastern expedition to Japan and accomplished military exploits, and is enshrined at Atsuta Shrine, Uchiuchi Shrine, Hatato Shrine, Hazu Shrine, Narumi Shrine, Owarito Shrine, Yakumo Shrine, etc. It is said that Kenine Tane no Mikoto and his wife Tamahime lived near Cape Hazu, and that they took walks there almost every day. Eventually, when Kenine Taneno-no-Mikoto led the naval forces following Takeru of Japan and set out on an expedition to the east, his wife Tamahime was said to have been waiting for her husband's return, so it came to be called Machiaipura. There are other shrines where Kenine Tane no Mikoto is enshrined. Utsutsu Shrine (Kasugai City) has its origins as a shrine dedicated to the spirit of Kenina Tane no Mikoto. On the way back from the eastern expedition, Kenine Taneno-no-Mikoto, who was leading a naval force, found a rare seabird and tried to capture it to present to Takeru Nihon. However, he fell into the Suruga Sea and drowned, and it is said that after Japan Takeru entered Uchitsu Pass in Owari on his way home, he heard the report from his servant, Kume Yasuri, who came running on a fast horse. He wept and said, ``Utsutsuka, Utsutsuka,'' and enshrined the spirit. In addition, Hatato Shrine (Nishio City) is said to be the place where Kenine Tane-no-Mikoto, who served as Hatashi, died in a water accident in the Suruga Sea on his way back from the Eastern expedition, and his remains washed up on the coast of this area and were buried by the villagers.

Quiet and small country side beach
(Translated by Google) First visit at the end of August 2022. This is apparently called Yamami Beach. It was a little cloudy, but the temperature was better than a beach day with plenty of sunshine and less sunlight. When I first arrived, my impression was that it was so beautiful that I couldn't believe I was in Aichi Prefecture. It's hard to see in the photo because it's cloudy, but you can clearly see the sandy area from above. I imagined the sea in Aichi Prefecture to be green, but as someone who was born in the Sea of Japan, I was surprised at how clear it was for swimming. However, as the tide approached, the sea water became greenish, so I felt that the transparency changed depending on the current or high tide. I can't say for sure, but it wasn't just the warm summer seawater that I felt when I swam at Himaka Island last year, but there was also a layer of cold seawater under my feet, so I feel like the transparency is due to some kind of ocean current, but the beaches around here are... It's my first time here, so I don't really know what it's like. We didn't see that many creatures, but there is a rocky shore on the south side, so you can play on the rocky shore. There are many broken shells and stones on the beach, so marine shoes are a must if you want to play. Although it is a relatively unknown spot, the beach is also large. Between the beach and the rock, there is a breakwater, or rather a concrete block to prevent sand from washing away, and the top is flat, so it was possible to fish facing the rock instead of toward the beach, but at low tide it was shallow enough to fit around the waist of an adult. It was. I don't know about Oki. By the way, while playing on the beach, I caught a greenling and a rockfish under the block by casting from the embankment, but I think there may also be a rockfish. You can see the sand, but when you cast it there are quite a few seaweed snags, so it doesn't seem to be very deep, so you can't expect good fishing results, but I think it's good for playing while swimming in the sea. Although there are not many people swimming on the south side of the rock, there are times when there are people swimming in the sea or playing with sup, so please refrain from fishing in that case. Also, of course, let's avoid the beach side. I don't know the depth of the beach offshore, but it seems like it's a continuous sandy area, so I haven't been to the deep part, but there is a watchtower and a barrier off the beach, so it's relatively safe. It's only in season, but there are beach houses nearby and food is pretty good. There are shells and trash on the beach, but it's still within acceptable limits. The sand on the beach was so fine that I felt that the sea in Aichi Prefecture was not something to be underestimated. The people at the beach house were also very nice. It felt like there were a lot of families, so it was an easy place to hang out. I recently saw on the news that the sea has become so clean that it's hard to catch clams, and I believe that the green color in the sea is algae, so it seems that there is a correlation between the recent cleanliness of the sea and sewage treatment. The sea is beautiful, so it's good for swimming.

A short walk to the strawberry picking house, I had a slightly unpleasant feeling when I opened the door. It looks green. Not enough strawberries? ? Go inside and check in again. I was given a cup with condensed milk and a small plastic bag to put the stem in. It seems that condensed milk used to be available as much as you want. Only the first cup now. I'm glad I bought a tube at the supermarket in advance and brought it with me. We will be guided to a place where we can pick strawberries. The leaves are still visible. I was told I could eat three rows of strawberries, but within 15 minutes there were no more strawberries to eat. . . In the first place, did the employee buy the strawberries from the lane we were guided to as a souvenir? Since they were already harvesting, there wasn't much left. Big strawberry! When I thought about it, all the things were damaged. I can cry. In all the strawberry picking I've done so far, the strawberries overflowed from the bag, so I was really full! ! I was about 5 minutes old at this point. There's also a barbecue, so I guess they arranged it for me. I don't need that, thank you. ▼Barbecue We left the vinyl house in 20 minutes and headed to the barbecue area. When you sit down in your favorite seat, a seven-wheeled seven wheels will be brought to you. I feel like it's a pretty old shichirin. It seems like he used to be able to eat all-you-can-eat vegetables and rice, but now he only wants rice and tea. The ingredients were served in a retro stainless steel bowl. It was charcoal grilled so it was delicious. People who are particular about taste may not like it. This also ends in 30 minutes. Strawberry picking and BBQ! ? I wonder if I can eat it! There was no need to worry. To be honest, if it was 4,000 yen, I wouldn't come again. I don't feel satisfied. If you go, we recommend bringing condensed milk and wet tissues!
(Translated by Google) Visited in February 2022. ・Reservation required ・1800 yen (1 adult) - Range is up to the middle of one lane on each side (approximately 5 meters, see photo) ・1 cup of condensed milk (refills available unless there is a coronavirus pandemic) ・Time limit: 40 minutes (unlimited unless there is a coronavirus pandemic) The employees are bright and pleasant. As for the range, I think they probably decide based on the fruitfulness of the strawberries. The 5 meter lane I hit seemed to be more productive and the shortest compared to the others. However, it wasn't a great harvest, and there was nothing left to eat in about 20 minutes. If it's a complete reservation system, maybe we can do a little better? If that's not possible, then why not lower the price? That was my impression.

If it's sunny, I wonder if more flowers will bloom on Saturday and Sunday? There weren't many people around today, so I was able to take pictures of the cherry blossoms freely. I'm sure the park will be crowded when the weather clears up. In this park, you can also observe the strata of the Shiozaki Group, and although you may not be able to find fossils right away, it's interesting to imagine that they were at the bottom of the ocean. There are also migratory birds in the sea, and it's quite fun to walk around the park. 2024.2.25 The next day, Saturday, was sunny, so I went to the observation deck. You can see all the way to the island. The dog was also taking a walk. I always have one Mitarashi on my way home. It's raining on Sunday, unfortunately. It would be nice to be able to see the cherry blossoms during lunch break on weekdays. At night, it's not lit up, so it's dangerous to step on, and it doesn't look very nice, so it's better to go during bright hours. How about flowers next weekend? Last year, the flowers bloomed early, but this year? There may still be a chance, so let's go again. Let's stay together until the flowers fall. 2024.3.2 1pm The wind is blowing and the cherry blossom petals are dancing. If you look up at the base of the tree, it's still beautiful. Although some trees have fewer flowers, the cherry blossom trees near the BBQ stove are still beautiful, and you can park your car under the trees and enjoy the cherry blossom viewing. Sandwiches, rice with clams, chirashi sushi for 300 yen, snacks and cherry blossom viewing. I thought it would definitely be beautiful if the scenery was nice and the weather was sunny, but I decided not to go on New Year's Day because I thought there was no way such a nice place would be crowded. There was also a toilet in the parking lot, but I don't remember the parking space, but I think it was tight for 10 spaces. I don't know the truth, so I think it would be best to do some research regarding New Year's Day. There was enough space for people to stand and watch the parking space. The view is also nice. Just sitting on a bench and staring at the ferry moving through Ise Bay will make you forget about your daily busyness.
