Lovely place to visit, beautiful water. Winter time is great to go to avoid large crowds, summer the lake is packed, you can best most of the crowd in the spring/summer months by going very early but shops will not be open.
In my opinion, this is one of the top 3 landscapes to see in Italy. My partner and I walked around the lake, which is 3.8 km long. At times there were quite a lot of people, even forming small queues, but for most of the route we could walk at our own pace. Tip: if the mountain views at the starting point don’t seem that impressive, it’s better to walk around the lake clockwise rather than counterclockwise. This way, the most beautiful part of the scenery will be towards the end of the walk, and your photos will turn out better.
Nice small lake and good views of the surrounding moutains. But in my opinion nothing out of the ordinary - its just a mountain lake and a very commercialised one. You can rent boats for 45min which will cost 55€ and parking is also 15€. The path around the lake is very crowded as well. I think there are more beautiful and especially more calm lakes in the dolomites that would be worth your time and money.
Lago di Braies is absolutely breathtaking! The crystal-clear turquoise water surrounded by majestic mountains looks like something out of a postcard. It’s the perfect place for a peaceful walk, a boat ride, or just relaxing and taking in the view. Every angle is stunning, especially in the early morning or at sunset. The air feels so fresh and calm—it’s pure magic. A must-see spot in the Dolomites that you’ll never forget!
Best lake in the Dolomites in Italy and a MUST visit. It is also referred to as 'The pearl of the Dolomites'. Circular route around this magical mountain lake is a great experience for young and old because the entire hiking trail is safe and well marked. Walking distance from bus stop and car parking.
Gloomy day for us but still breathtaking views. Rented a row boat and bopped around the lake for a bit before grabbing a bite and heading out. Plan your trip accordingly, it can be crazy during the busy months. Do your research!
Taken last 11th of November 2025, very worth it. Inlove with the view, hopefully to see this beauty as well on Summer and Spring. ❤️ 💙 💜
Gorgeous turquoise lake that reminds me of lake Louise in banff Canada. Rented a row boat for 55€ that includes 2 magnets and 45 minutes of row time. It was pretty windy with a slight drizzle when we arrived at 5:30pm. Last boat is at 7pm. There was a slight wait but we didn’t wait too long to get on the lake

A beautiful place with lots of original and rare flowers. I recommend going there with your friends, then it is interesting to explore. In addition, the castle in which the restaurant is located. Really stunning place.
Beautiful garden with a wide variety of botanical riches--from the "trees of the world" area to the amazing and artful viewing platform set high above the garden to the more formal plantings around the big pond and in the sunny hills near the castle. We spent a few hours here and enjoyed every minute.
Absolutely wonderful gardens, walks and fascinating flowers, trees and animals. Certainly worth a visit as the colours are exceptional.
We’ve visited the gardens and the castle in autumn. It was still worth it. You really need a whole day to see everything. It is very big. It is perfect for kids. They have baby goats and small farm animals. Beautiful views. We will come in summer.
Great place with a beautiful garden. You can stay hours and enjoy the beauty. Easy access by buses from the center.
We visited the Botanical Gardens of Schloss Trauttmansdorff and highly recommend it. Parking at P3 or P4 is free and just a short 5-minute walk to the entrance. The park is beautifully designed with a wide variety of landscapes and attractions. We started on the left and worked our way through to the right, spending about 2.5 hours in total. There’s a lot to see and experience. Some paths are quite steep, so it might be a bit challenging for older visitors. Overall, a stunning place well worth the visit.
Must see if you are in the area, 3-4 hours is minimum to be able to see all
This place is so awesome I don't even want to write a review about it, it might make it busier in this era of overtourism. But anyway: this garden is too beautiful to be true: the location in the Alps, the hilly terrain of the park, and the variety of plants and flowers and artwork. Usually it's sunny here which really helps. We were here in late October which was perfect. Walking around is not really doable for people who don't walk well. Parking is easy, there's also a bus to the station and it's an easy detour from the Brenner tollway.

South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology – Meeting Ötzi in Bolzano Bolzano is one of those places that gets under your skin—a strange and beautiful collision of Italy and the Alps. German precision meets Italian charm, all wrapped in cobblestone streets, Gothic arcades, and the smell of good coffee drifting out of corner cafés. It’s a city where you can order a perfect espresso in the morning, a plate of speck and mountain cheese by noon, and a bottle of local Gewürztraminer by dinner. We grabbed a quick bite at a café across the street before heading in—sitting outside while small birds darted between tables, bold enough to hope for crumbs. Then we crossed over to see why most people come here: Ötzi. The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology sits in a stately old building at the edge of the pedestrian zone, and inside is one of the most haunting encounters you can have without boarding a plane to somewhere far more dangerous. Three floors take you from prehistoric tools to Roman relics, winding you closer to the reason everyone’s here: a 5,300-year-old man pulled from the ice, along with the tools, clothes, and gear he carried when death found him in the high mountains. The displays are sharp and modern, with just the right balance of science and story. There’s his copper axe, his grass cape, his last meal still in his stomach. The lifelike reconstruction of Ötzi by the Kennis brothers is unsettling in the best possible way—suddenly this isn’t just a skeleton in a glass case, it’s a person who woke up one morning not knowing it would be his last. What makes the place work is its restraint. No gimmicks, no cheap drama—just good storytelling and the quiet, unnerving truth of seeing someone who lived and died in the same mountains you can see out the window. Bolzano does that—it folds the past and present together until you can’t quite tell where one ends and the other begins.
The floor with the mummy is awesome. The other floors are okay. As a physiotherapist, I feel it’s important to highlight that some of the information presented about Ötzi’s ailments and pain is factually incorrect—not just technically inaccurate but clearly and potentially harmfully wrong. Specifically, the exhibit makes claims about osteoarthritis and other health conditions that go beyond what the evidence supports. It is not scientifically valid to infer pain based solely on imaging findings of “degenerative” changes or age-related adaptations. These types of findings are extremely common in healthy people—many of whom experience no pain at all. Presenting such changes as definitive sources of pain reinforces outdated and misleading beliefs about the human body. This can contribute to fear, over-medicalization, and unnecessary treatments in the general public, especially among people who already live with chronic pain or worry about their health. Aside from the clearly documented issues—such as the arrow wound in his shoulder, the broken arm, and dental problems—any additional claims about Ötzi’s experience of pain are speculative at best and should be labeled as such. Personally, I think those parts of the exhibit should be changed. I included some photos of the problematic texts.
Great museum, mainly dedicated to the story (and viewing) of Ötzi, the iceman. Recommendation when you are in the area. Also some interesting items on living situations in that time and how to craft for example. We didn’t have a ticket in advance and so had to wait outside. It was annoying that the lady at the front couldn’t tell us how long the queue would be, luckily it was only a bit more than 20 minutes. We visited on a tuesday afternoon mid September. Recommended to buy beforehand! Inside there are also many school groups next to the general visitors so it is not calm or quiet.
An interesting museum dedicated to literally just one mummy. After viewing the exhibit, you realize how much information can be gleaned from such a find. My seven-year-old daughter was a bit scared; perhaps it's too early to see such exhibits. Tickets are inexpensive, but there's no parking. The restrooms are clean and comfortable. A significant amount of money has been invested in the museum; I recommend visiting.
Awesome museum! I have been interested in Otzi since he was pulled out of the ice, so when I was nearby I made sure to make a detour to Bolzano and the museum. You’re not allowed to take photos of Otzi himself as he is being preserved for research purposes. The images below show what they think Otzi would have looked like. One thing I found most interesting, (other than his acupuncture tattoos of course!) was his height - only 5 feet 3 inches. I had expected him to be taller, possibly because of my own biases, but possibly also owing to the nature of his life - mountain climbing and hunting while alone. Regardless, he was obviously a seriously brave guy. The museum dedicated to him is definitely worth a visit.
So cool ! The museum is located in the middle of town. Parking was a challenge , we used the parkhouse , while it’s 4.50€ per hour, it worked out well. The museum is set up in 3 floors , easy to follow as everything is numbered. What an amazing valuable find, so interesting . This exhibit really helps you understand the life of this man .
The exhibition was well executed. I learned a lot about this discovery and its ongoing preservation and research. Well worth a visit
excellent exhibition and displays...the story of Otzi and his discovery was like a forensic iceage crime scene..and the museum made it easy to follow...

“Val Gardena is a skier’s paradise! The slopes are perfectly groomed, offering options for all skill levels, from beginners to experts. The scenery is breathtaking, with the majestic Dolomites all around, making every run unforgettable. The lift system is efficient, minimizing waiting times, and the après-ski vibe is fantastic. A must-visit destination for any winter sports enthusiast!”
It is of rare beauty, once you get there you will want to come back every year. The focal point is Ortisei, an earthly paradise. From Ortisei you can take the cable car and go up to a place where you can see all the mountain peaks in the area, it is something special. The languages spoken in the area are German and less Italian, but you can also manage with English. The food is very good as a result of the combination of the above.
Val Gardena for ski is in my top3 in Europe (been to 5 resorts in Dolomites, 3 in Val di Sole, 2 in Austrian Tirol, 3 in Aosta…) - why? You have all the options: long trails like Gardenissima (6km), La Longia (8km acc to my watch), Cir etc. You have shorter runs in Sassolungo part of the resort. You have difficult runs as well as long gentle easy ones. You have everything + one of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine, Sella massif, Sassolungo massif, Seceda, incredible Seceda. Visited few times but always before season in December and no crowds. The only negative- train connecting Seceda part to Sassolungo part is not always reliable. This place every ski person needs to visit at least once ina lifetime
Val Gardena offers breathtaking alpine scenery that captivates at every turn. Towering Dolomite peaks, lush meadows, and winding trails create a paradise for nature lovers. Whether hiking, skiing, or simply admiring the views, the landscape is serene and majestic. It’s a perfect escape into the heart of natural beauty.
Beautiful City with many attractions, hiking close by, views and artistic shops.
2 easy trails that showcase the stunning landscapes of the region: 1. Monte Pana to Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) - Length: 7 km (one way) - Duration: 2-3 hours - Starting Point: Monte Pana This gentle hike takes you through lush meadows and forests, offering panoramic views of the Alpe di Siusi and the surrounding Dolomites. 2. Col Raiser to Seceda - Length: 6 km (one way) - Duration: 2-3 hours - Starting Point: Col Raiser cable car station A scenic and relatively easy trail that offers stunning views of the Odle/Geisler group and the vast meadows of Seceda.
Val Gardena is a slice of Alpine paradise that truly encapsulates the beauty and charm of the Dolomites. From the moment you arrive in this stunning region, you're greeted by a sense of tranquility and natural wonder that's hard to match. The towering peaks of the Dolomites serve as a dramatic backdrop to the picturesque villages that dot the landscape. Val Gardena's villages, including Ortisei, Selva di Val Gardena, and Santa Cristina, exude a warm and inviting atmosphere. The traditional Tyrolean architecture blends seamlessly with the surrounding nature, creating a sense of harmony that is both comforting and awe-inspiring. For outdoor enthusiasts, Val Gardena is a dream come true. The region offers a plethora of hiking trails that cater to all levels of experience, allowing you to explore the lush valleys, serene meadows, and challenging mountain paths. In the winter, the area transforms into a winter wonderland, offering world-class skiing and snowboarding opportunities that draw enthusiasts from around the globe. The local cuisine is a delightful journey for your taste buds. Traditional dishes made from locally sourced ingredients provide a true taste of the region, and dining in one of the charming mountain huts is an experience not to be missed. What sets Val Gardena apart, however, is its unique blend of nature, culture, and hospitality. The warmth of the locals, their rich traditions, and the harmonious coexistence with the natural world create an ambiance that's as unforgettable as the breathtaking landscapes themselves. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a cultural escape, Val Gardena delivers on all fronts. It's a destination that invites you to disconnect from the ordinary and immerse yourself in the extraordinary beauty of the Dolomites.

Transportation
Slide 1 of 8
We were given tickets as part of the public transport system. I'm glad we had time to use the tickets. The cable car was an amazing experience to explore the upper region. At the top there is a short train ride, which showed us an excellent view and experience from a living in the mountains point of view.
Located just 10 min walk from the city center the cable car is one way of reaching Soprabolzano. The views from the ride are spectacular amd it takes roughly 12 min one way. One way ticket is 8 euros and if you buy the return you need to use it the same day, it cannot be used another day. If you are planning to get the scenic small train from Soprabolzano , make sure to mention this when buying the ticket so they will give you a combined o ne. You can either take the stairs to the 2nd level or the elevator. There is a coffee shop right next to it and a supermarket as well. Once you get on top you will find a bar / icecream shop in the area and a Despar amd Mpreis supermarkets. Very busy usually in the weekends
I have mixed feelings about this cable car. The first part of the experience was bad. There is a pretty long line and the stuffed too many people into one cart. However the view from this cable car is absolutely amazing. It first goes up and the has a long horizontal ride that seems like it was designed just so you can enjoy the view longer. Too bad we had such little personal space to enjoy the view.
The queue for the ride can be really long on a weekend, especially at 12pm. Be patient and dont join the queue. Just go for a lunch first till 1pm and the will be no wait needed to get a ride up. The long and smooth ride offers a great view between bolzano and suprabolzano.
The cable car (Funivia) takes you from Bolzano to Oberbozen (Sopra Bolzano). It's a 25 minute smooth ride with incredible and breathtaking views. The capacity is around 20 people at a time. Very recommended if in Bolzano.
Awesome way to go waaay up while using the same Mobil Card that we use for trains/buses in the region. No waiting time, smooth trip up and down and spectacular views all around!
Beautiful views! Nice restaurant and bar and a playground for kids. There are several hikes available as well.
Supranolzano is a magical place and so is this route to it. We had gotten a free Südtirol pass from our Agriturismo hosts and therefore this trip and the train trips were free!

The scenery on the valley is surrounded by a small vineyard. The footpath is beautifully designed. You can take your dog for a walk. And there are also cafes when you want to take a break.
Very comfortable to walk down. With this fantastic view, you won’t feel tired.
Amazing entry point into the city! Continue from until the very end then descend down to the center of Merano. The other end of riverside promenade allows the alternative access. The views are stunning, the whole path is so beautiful and there points of water as well as some historic facts here and there.
A lovely walk with great views over Merano, an added bonus is the cafe by the tower at the top of the walk .
That simple round walk is a must when visiting Meran. Great views above the city's roof tops. Nice bars and a restaurant are offering everything for each budget
This is a beautiful path with very pretty panoramic views of the city and mountains.
Fantastic views of the city and surrounding landscape. Vineyards, steeples and mountains can be taken in from the viewing benches. There are also a few restaurants/spots to have a drink along the promenade. The climb up the old fort tower is worth it for the views from the top. It is quite a steep walk up to the promenade - we managed it with a pram but took some pushing!
Wonderful route, easy realxing, the whole family with kids can enjoy the view of merano from a bit higher. The route has a part long the river, very calming. There are small herbs garden to check out on the route as well. There’s also some restaurants along the way and hotels.

Most convenient town if you go vacation in Dolomites in Alps Mountain range. Can reach all the places without using your car.
The best city to stay and hike in the Dolomites! Buy a 6 days Val Gardena pass and you can hike most of the trails in this area! Parking is limited and the best way to stay here is by public transportation. I visited here 5 tomes already and in the past three times , I visited here by public transportation!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this stunning city. It's calm, clean, and surrounded by breathtaking mountains—one reaching 2,005 meters. A cable car takes you to the top of Sëuc Mountain, while another leads to the majestic Seceda. The city center is filled with charming restaurants and beautiful churches that add to its serene atmosphere. Words truly fall short in capturing its beauty. For a peaceful experience, I highly recommend walking across the pedestrian bridge on the way to the Sëuc cable car station. It’s a perfect spot to reflect, take in the views, and feel completely at ease.
Ortisei is one of those cities that seem to have come out of an alpine fairy tale. With its colourful architecture, pedestrian streets full of wooden craft shops and landscapes of grandiose mountains around, it is simply charming. The city is at 1,236 m altitude and is surrounded by iconic peaks such as Seceda and Sassolungo, providing stunning scenery from its centre. In addition, Ortisei works very well as a base for easy or more challenging trails, with easy access to cable cars and the Alpe di Siusi.
Ortisei valgardena !is beautiful but often overcrowded it’s a famous spot surrounded by gorgeous mountains that are definitely worth visiting. However, there are also plenty of less-crowded places to explore. On my way back, I discovered Trentino a true gem in the Alps! Especially the Vigolana Monte Bondone with panorama view with Brenta Dolomites area, where nature feels pure and peaceful. The best part? You can easily visit both regions it’s only about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Trento to Ortisei. Accommodations in Trentino are fantastic and reasonably priced you don’t need to take out a mortgage to stay in beautiful places! From here, you can also easily visit the South Tyrol region. As a vlogger, I always like to keep an open mind and have options 💚🌱🍃Trentino truly offers that balance of beauty, comfort, and value. Now if you want and can !Ortisei is so fancy 💚great restaurant's very clean town ,is a great place to stay as well .
Amazing mountain town, we loved it here even more than Cortina!
Beautiful and charming village in the heart of the Dolomites. Huge range of accommodation available. Could be busy in summer, but in autumn, when we visited, crowds were a little quieter and the autumn colours were spectacular.
Ortisei in late September is a sleepy, little village dominated by old folks (mostly locals). Gone are the masses of tourists which surely put everyone’s patience to a test. It’s quiet, there’s wood crafting shops at every corner and local markets. We didn’t find many restaurants or even cafes which is a pity.

Absolutely gorgeous lake and peaceful forest walk. The colours of the lake are a feast for the eyes with the picturesque mountains as a backdrop. The rainbow lake is definitely worth a visit!
Amazing place to see especially on a sunny day. We were there with our 7m campervan on a Sunday morning around 9am and there were plenty of parking spaces but got busy rather quickly. You need to pay in the ticket machine before passing through the exit gate. Campers pay 9 eur for 3 hrs which is plenty time to see the sights, get some footage and have a meal as well.
It is a small lake surrounded by pine forests and the Dolomites mountains, offering breathtaking scenery. The water is crystal clear with an emerald-green color, reflecting the mountains and the sky. Easy to reach with no difficult roads. Parking is available at €3 per hour (Oct 2025), and payment must be made in advance at the ticket machine. The area also has convenient facilities such as shops and restaurants, though not very large. Perfect for a short stop to take photos and enjoy a peaceful walk. The atmosphere is calm, cool, and truly romantic.
Beautiful lake with easy walk around it. You can get there by car (paid parking) Even with the bad weather upcoming it gave some nice effects on the pictures… Recommend for an easy stop and enjoy beauty of nature & its colors!
We visited here on a very sunny day. The lake was an emerald green and very beautiful, but the photo spots were quite crowded with people.
We visited Lago di Carezza, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. The water shines in shades of green and reflects the forest and mountains around it, giving the place a magical feel. Parking is easy and costs €6 for 1-2 hours, which is fair for such a stunning spot. A calm and lovely stop, well worth visiting if you’re in the area.
A beautiful little alpine lake with stunning turquoise water and breathtaking mountain views in the background. It’s an easy hike, you can walk around it in about 1 hour. Unfortunately, it’s quite a popular tourist spot, so unless you arrive early in the morning, it can get very crowded. Luckily, most visitors tend to stay near the starting point to take photos, so the rest of the trail around the lake is much quieter and more peaceful.
Simply breathtaking! An easy walk around the lake with stunning views and mind-blowing colors. You can drive there (paid parking), and while the lake was shallow, the reflections of the clouds made it absolutely worth the visit!

Very nice, easy hike of 50 mins. You can park in the closest parking for 10 euros, and P3 which is 10 minutes away is for free. We went sunday around 12, and there were still places. There are 3 waterfalls, first one is 20 mins, second another 15 mins and the last around 10 mins.
Must be seen, parking available till 10 am after that not so much. Prices in bar and restaurant little bit high but food is excellent
Great hike! Easy, and paths are made well. Beautiful scenery everywhere you look
Amazing place but I would not recommend the climb for people with reduced mobility or small children. Highly recommended bringing your own food, there are places to eat on the bottom of the place next to the parking lot but they want 23 euros for a hotdog and 5 euros for a coke. Absolutely outrageous
Highly recommended to visit. Very beautiful place for nature lovers
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Easy 15 minute walk to the falls. Beautiful!
Great for children for all ages. Difficultly of the row is medium for lazy people 🫣
Parking ticket for the daily is 10euros if you park close by the hiking trail entrance. The waterfalls are so nice!!! to get to the top is 55 min . It’s totally worth it! They also have amazing food and drinks at entrance!

When I say WOW, it means a lot 😍we Passed by here 3x, and I knew it this Lake has a lot to offer. So decided to stop for a break and go for a circular loop and the views never failed me.
Amazing lake ... I am never tired of such beauty, as evidenced by our return to the magical Lago di Dobbiaco, or Toblacher See, in winter conditions after having visited and dined by its shores in June during the "summer" season ... the last two images in this post, video and photo, are from our June visit for comparison ! Indeed, even in winter, when the lake take its snowy, crystal-clear mantle, the 360° alpine scenery is simply enchanting. And in every season, this Dolomite lake offers different faces and always a spectacle for our astonished eyes. Indeed, this breathtakingly beautiful natural site, with its magnificent emerald reflections, Lake Dobbiaco captivates you every time you visit, and is among the most stunning landscapes to visit in the Dolomites, a picture-postcard setting you'll want to keep all to yourself, one of the five most beautiful places in this unique German-speaking region. From Cortina d'Ampezzo, this superb Dolomite lake is located on the road leading to the ultra-famous "Lago di Braies" or "Pragser Wildsee," so there's no need to make a detour. Formed by a landslide, this magnificent Dolomite lake lies within the Tre Cime Natural Park and is fed by the Rienza River, which flows below. And what's truly fabulous is enjoying this small Italian alpine lake in complete privacy, without anyone around. Far from the crowds, this Dolomite lake is incredibly peaceful and inspiring. You can even walk around it via a fun discovery trail; it's easy and accessible to everyone. And in the summer, you can even go pedal boating or boating...
Stunning winter ❄️ scenery. Very easy walk around the lake. We visited on December 27.
This place is truly a hidden gem! The photos online don’t do it justice—it’s even more stunning in person. We almost skipped it, but I’m so glad we decided to add it to our itinerary. It’s a photographer’s haven, with breathtaking views and plenty of picturesque spots. What made it even better was that it wasn’t overly crowded, allowing us to fully appreciate the beauty in peace. Definitely an underrated spot that deserves more attention!
I recently stayed at this camping site and I have mixed feelings about my experience. On the positive side, the bathrooms were impeccable, with some even having their own sink, hot water, and always stocked with toilet paper. The campsite also offered a beautiful view and is conveniently located for quick access to various areas. A supermarket is just a 10-15 minute drive away, and quiet hours were respected. I was able to find a spot without a reservation around 4-5 pm, but I would recommend arriving by 11 am for easier setup. On the downside, the tent area was overcrowded with minimal space between tents, leading to a lack of privacy. The reception staff, particularly one of the girls, had an extremely arrogant attitude. Despite paying for the car, there was a chance you may not find a spot inside to park it. It was disappointing not to have a fridge for the price of 50€ per day, including all fees. The ground was also uneven, making it challenging to set up tents properly. The showers were poorly ventilated, leading to a presence of mold and difficulty breathing with the door closed. In conclusion, while the camping site has its strengths such as excellent bathrooms and a good location, the overcrowded tent area, lack of parking, absence of a fridge, uneven ground, and poorly ventilated showers with mold make it difficult to fully recommend.
Nice spot for a bite to eat with several restaurants around the lake. You park on top and take a short walk down to the lake. Enjoy!

Grand medieval castle on a hill, open for tours to see the elaborate frescoes & furnishings.
Slide 1 of 8
Really cool medieval castle full of history, scenic views, and relics. We happened to show up right before the start of a tour. The tours are only offered in German and Italian. We grouped up with the Italian your being that we speak Spanish. They do give you an English handout which has some of the tour details. Most of the tour info is included in the handout. Regardless, our tour guide took the time to give us some tidbits in English during the tour. We were grateful to have Margarita as our guide. This place was super cool with so many things to see. Unfortunately for us, it was closing time right after our tour. Make sure you come a bit early to be able to see the rest of the exhibitions and visit the gift shop. And lastly, don't forget to leave a tip at the end of the tour. Enjoy y'all!
Nice... one of the 400 castles in South Tyrol. Visitable with guided tours in german or italian. Big but not sup big castle yet the tour takes you through 20 rooms and displays castle life fom the middle ages to 1800s. Cool. Tip a car parking is situated next to cadtle yet to find you will have to drive a bit further on the main road
Really cool medieval castle with informational plaques in German, Italian, and English. Guided tours are on the hour in German and Italian and are the only way to go into the rooms. If you choose the courtyard tour (€7), you still get a very cool experience walking up the tower and see great views of the valley. Definitely worth checking out if you have an hour or so! The walk from the bus station felt more like a hike and there’s construction on the roads currently (may 2024) forcing us to walk on gravel and mud.
The guided tour is definitely worth it!
Great small Castle to visit. Park your car in town, enjoy the walk to the castle and join a guided tour. The castle might not be as big as others, but the guided tour and the well equipped rooms (original furniture, books, etc.) make it worth while. Take your time exploring the castle, some areas are not part of the guided tour, but still accessible, such as the tower, the garden, kitchen and the old ice cellar. Afterwards there is a small restaurant nearby, where you can enjoy a good meal and a perfect view over the Ahrntal region.
1hour tour with a great guide (It, Ger, Eng), check the opening hours first, many websites are incorrect as Google. Also dont trust googlemaps with 15min walk from downtown Campo Tures, as the road is quite steep once oit of the town. That said add 10mins for quick walk or 15mins for sights. Or take a car just bellow the castle with 90min free parking. The castle dates back to 12th century with lots of remodeling but keeps its stone look. On the tour you will get to see about 10chambers, courtyard, tower, catwalk. Well kept wooden interiors, amazing library and decorations. Nice views to the valley. Good way to spend 90min walking trip once in the region. Review of 4stars as 5stars belong to Ducal Palace in Venice :) enjoy. 10€ adult
Small castle is worth visiting only with the guided tour, which occurs more or less hourly, so there's usually a good chance to catch one. Price for visit+tour is fair. Currently, there are a few expositions which can be seen without a guide.
Lovely little castle. Well worth a visit if in the area. Information regarding parking is not clear. There is free parking at the castle. Dogs are welcome in the courtyard and sounding area but not inside for the guided tour. Kennels are available for free but are very small.

Lake
Nature & Parks
Swimming & hiking at a peaceful lake with a waterfront hotel & a backdrop of mountains.
Slide 1 of 8
A beautiful lake with gorgeous emerald color… a walk around it is recommended, route is very easy, benches along the way, there’s an area where you can lay down and relax, information boards about the flowers and birds, trees of the lake. There’s also a convenient bar/restaurant halfway along the route. Worth visiting!
This lake is so underrated and we only discovered it while going for a run! It is very quiet and serene, and you can enjoy fantastic views away from the crowds. It is around 2.5km around the lake, and is a nice place to jog or take a walk.
Fantabulous lake and scenery all round, with its dark green coniferous forests, the breathtaking Rieserferner mountain chain and, in the midst of all this, the shimmering turquoise-green water. This is the dreamlike scenery of the lake called Antholzer See, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Alps ! An idyllic pearl of the Blue Valley is the third largest mountain lake in South Tyrol. Located at the head of the valley, it is also very close to the well-known Staller Saddle mountain pass and Austria. At an altitude of approx. 1,640 m, families, nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy countless activities in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park all year round.
The nicest lake I visited in the dolomites. Easy to moderate trail around the lake.
really nice and easy walk around the lake, even during strong rain there were no difficult or dangerous sections. There's free parking 50 m or so before the paid parking. One hour or less to go around if you're in a hurry. Toilets in the sports complex were accessible at the time, not sure if they would be after/before work hours.
Wonderful place among stunning mountains. The surrounding landscape is definitely beautiful and the natural colors of the water and the fauna are amazing. The walk around the lake takes about one hour and is recommended if you want to see the lake from any point of view.
It's really a lovely lake. You can walk around it. But be prepared for crowds. Especially on the weekends. Parkings are starce, recommend going with public transport.
We really liked the tour around the lake. We arrived around 9.30 and there was not too many people, so not too crowded to walk around. The playground at the middle of the tour is really nice if you have some kids. A very easy walk that can be complete in 1.5 hrs or more if you stop around the lake for some pictures.

Striking, double-spired cathedral dating from 1745 & decorated with opulent frescoes.

The Brixen Dom was rebuilt in 1754 in the Late Baroque style. It’s Beautiful both from Inside and outside. Don’t forget to look up once inside the church. It’s free to enter. The adjoining cloister is also covered with Gothic frescoes.
The Brixner Dom, or Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary and Saint Cassian, is a magnificent baroque cathedral in the heart of Brixen (Bressanone). Though not vast in size, it impresses with stunning ceiling frescoes by Paul Troger and an adjacent Romanesque-Gothic cloister featuring remarkable 15th-century murals. The location is central in the charming old town, making it easily accessible and ideal for a cultural visit. A must-see when in South Tyrol. Visit as well the adjacent buildings, and then enjoy a Cappuccino in on the bars on the square.
Great Cathedral of Brixen in late baroque style. There's historical fresco "The adoration of the lamb"(1748–50) by Paul Troger. For just this master piece of art, this place is worth visiting.
To do a round trip in Dolomites area, made a visit to see frescoes and the commune. A great spot to stop by.
Beautiful cathedral in the main town square of Brixen. It's beautiful inside. Would recommend esp if you are in the area
The Dom is a really nice place to visit during your stay in Bressanone. We we lucky to be during the Christmas Market that is hosted just in front of the Dom.
Impressive , huge and beautiful cathedral in the middle of the old town in Brixen. Just a short 10 minutes from the train station will put you in the middle of the old town center. Go inside and marvel at the ornate rococo and be sure to look UP to appreciate the ornate frescos on the ceiling Look behind you and up to view the beautiful , large and elaborate organ. Recommended--GO
Brixen Cathedral was rebuilt in 1754 in the Late Baroque style typical of churches in the Holy Roman Empire, with lighter colors and fine stucco details compared to the High Baroque style in Italy. The adjoining cloister is covered with Gothic frescoes.

Mountain peak
Outdoor Activities
Picturesque mountain area with a ski resort & hiking trails, plus lodging, dining & shopping.
Slide 1 of 8
The slopes are exceptionally well-prepared! The mobile app is excellent and user-friendly, and there’s a great variety of lifts, including gondolas and chairlifts of all types. You’ll find plenty of restaurants both at the base and at the peaks, catering to every need. The slopes offer a wide range of difficulty levels, from easy and relaxed runs to highly challenging ones. Even though the number of visitors can be quite high, there’s more than enough space for everyone to enjoy. In the rare case of an incident, the on-site help and medical teams operate efficiently, with snowmobiles ready to assist and ensure you’re covered. Highly recommended!
Awesome. Not much snow right now but still amazing. Modern lifts, and great slopes. 10/10 totally recommend. Its great for beginner and advanced skiers/snowboarders. It has a slope for everyone.
Easy to park, (go early though). Straightforward board/ski's and boot hire, nice coffee area serving food also. Lifts quick and head to some excellent Black, Blue and Red runs. Pretty good snow covering but changes weekly and they operate snow making machines from base to the top of the slopes. Good food and drink at the top with the addition of the Museum and Photography exhibitions, which were very good especially if your into Photography. Really enjoyed my stay and the Snowboarding.
It’s probably the best ski resort I’ve been to. Amazing red and black slopes and superb wide blue ones. Almost all lifts leading to the same mountain top. Literally there’s no slope you’d think is not worth skiing again. It’s a place where you don’t waste time moving from one area to another. You have it all in one place. A bit on the downside is that most lifts are gondolas, so constant strapping and unstrapping of bindings but beyond that it’s simply the best of all places I’ve skied in.
I've been coming here for 10 years and this place never disappoints! The fake snow is great quality and the slopes are prepared well daily. Lots of great dining options available throughout the mountain. Some fun jump parks and timed skislope races where you also have access to a recording of yourself at no cost!
I enjoyed the ski, even if the temperature was a bit too high and the snow already bad at 11. I do not give 5 stars (even if the place is very very good) because there are a lot of cable cars and you have to remove a lot of time your ski. Surely it is good when weather is not good or windy, but in general I think I’ve removed my ski 20 times…..
Great place for skiing, snowboard. Definitely can recommend and will return.
Beautiful ski resort with state of the art groomed slopes and lifts. Great for families!
