Loved it. It is everything you'd hope a castle would be. Along with its rich history, the castle still has many of its Gothic architectural features, some remaining frescoes, endless staircases, passages, rooms and towers to explore. A whole lot of fun. We managed to get there just as it was opening, and being the first ones to enter had the castle to ourselves, at least for a short while. Definitely one of my favourite castles in Romania.
Incredible experience. Also great on Halloween, as it's very spooky and theme decorated. The torture chambers were also spooky, and I do not recommend entering with a child that's not above 12+. It's very spaceful and wasn't that busy! One of the best castles I've been too and definitely recommend visiting it!
The castle is impressive from the outside but inside there are predominantly empty rooms. However, it's fun too walk through corridors, stairs and passages. There is an amazing view from one of the towers. The nearest parking is 20 lei per day.
We did a daytrip to Hunedoara from Sibiu. Initially I planned to visit it on our way to Timisoara, but it would fall on a Monday, and on Mondays the castle opens at noon which would affect our plans for the day. Street parking around the castle is tight as they closed the parking lot for some reason. Admission is heavy by Romanian standards at 50 lei (25 lei for seniors) but it's worth it. The castle is very well kept and the interior looks pretty modern in spots but the castle is large and impressive. I'm no fan of medieval castles but this one is a must.
The castle was very impressive and beautiful. There was plenty to see and do there as a castle/medieval period enthusiast. The price of entry was reasonable 50lei/adult. Only few downsides were that the castle was under renovation (it's understandable) and that guidance in the castle was confusing. The rooms had numbers but they were all mixed up.
I had the great pleasure of visiting Hunedoara Castle, also known as Corvin Castle. This magnificent fortress, located in Transylvania, was originally built in the 15th century by John Hunyadi, one of Hungary’s most powerful noblemen and military leaders. The castle served both as a stronghold and a noble residence, and over the centuries it has witnessed many historical events, legends, and even dark tales that add to its mysterious charm. It is an amazing place that truly allows you to feel the atmosphere of real medieval times, with its massive towers, stone courtyards, and slightly dark interiors that whisper stories from the past. There aren’t many tourists, the parking area is close to the castle, and overall it’s not an expensive trip. The panoramic view from the castle walls is breathtaking! Definitely, this place is worth visiting — go there and step back in time! It's worth to arrive at place to see the castle during day and night - two different stories & effect! WOW....gothic style is really DARK at night! Some tailes connected: There is a rumor that Dracula - Vlad III (Vlad the Impaler), the ruler of Wallachia, was imprisoned here for seven years. See added pictures - as you can see the tradition of impaing still "lives". Corvin Castle could have been the model (or at least one of the models) for the fictional “Castle Dracula” because of its dramatic Gothic-look and its connection to Vlad. The Legend of Hunedoara Castle Just after building the castle, its lord-builder, John Hunyadi, ordered a great well to be dug in the courtyard. He promised freedom to the Turkish prisoners who could find water in the rocky ground. For years, they worked day and night, carving through stone with hope and desperation. After fifteen long years, water finally sprang from the earth. But instead of granting them freedom, Hunyadi broke his promise. Before the prisoners were executed, one of them carved an inscription on the well’s wall: “You have water, but no soul.” - see one of the pic. (in arab). To this day, the well still stands in the castle yard — and some say that at night, if you listen closely, you can hear the echo of the prisoners’ voices rising from its depths.
Among the few castles in Romania, it is in the process of renovation. Over the years, different parts of the castle have been opened for visits and you can climb in all the towers. The steps of the stairs are high and not easy to climb if you are not trained. Unfortunately, the landscape around the castle is not special, the castle being in an old communist industrial area. You can also visit recreated torture chambers.
We didn’t get inside the castle, it was too expensive (50 Lei per person). The castle is beautiful. They started to refurbish the castle so some of it covered at this time. There are few souvenirs stores on the way to castle and we loved them - lots of beautiful souvenirs, very nice. A parking near by (can’t remember the price, around 20 Lei). Toilets at the parking for 3 Lei.

It’s quite hard to climb all the way up the stairs, but it’s definitely worth it once you reach the top. At night, the view from above is absolutely beautiful, with the lights shining below and a gentle breeze that makes the experience even more special.
Bring your walking shoes as there’s plenty to be done here. The cable car was not working but you can drive most of the way (keep an eye out for the small signs). Prepare yourself for 200+ stairs. Well worth the visit as there are some fantastic look out points. Would have been great to learn some history of the fortress. Perhaps some QR codes of plaques with information. It’s clearly had a bit of a refurbishment, but some more information for tourists would have earned that extra star.
The castle is in a nice condition, but room and glass building are completely empty, nothing to see. Actually if you go up with the elevator, not so much things to see, option to do. Elevator works till 5pm which is to short opening hours, a lot of people arrived just before 5pm, we had to go back on the next day.
A great place to visit if you're nearby. The stairs are very steep, but you can walk around them on a regular path. The views from the top are great, but there aren't enough descriptions of the place.
Many stairs to conquer, but definitely worth it. The view is nice, especially at night. The renovation in the past years paid off.
It might be beautiful up there but we were unable to reach up due to the telegondola technical issues. The children are too small to climb up. The page is not updated with when it working or if is not working the telegondola. We travelled 4 hours to go up and we went back disappointed. I gave 2 stars for the lady from the informations which was very nice and because the toilets were really clean.
The actual fortress is great with gorgeous views. Getting to it, it's a different story, the funicular was not working, the streets to get up there are very narrow and difficult to navigate, coming down the same thing. I could have skipped it.
Wow! The Acropolis of Deva! Perched up on a volcanic hill towering over the city! It was majestic and thoroughly worth the short walk in the intense heat, after the shuttle bus ride up most of the way. The views are breathtaking! A highlight of my trip to Romania.

Very nice trip. At the base of Sarmizegetusa there are plenty of parking lots. From the car you walk in nature about 1 km to Sarmizegetusa. Beautiful piece of history of the Dacians. You can spend 1.30 hours there. Very relaxing.
The guides are very knowledgeable and there are many. The remains are amazing and it's so important to know the history on site. Plus it was a sacred place so it's interesting to be around and feel the nature, as it's so isolated from the cities
Unique and special ruins in the mountains at a height of more than 1000 m. They look different from all other ruins and almost 2000 years old.
This place is filled with positive energy. People working there look so positive and are very friendly. This place has my heart. The calmness there is inexpressible.
Very interesting. If you are a history buff, you have to go here. I wish we had more time to make stops along the way
Very beautiful place with an amazing energy. It was a rainy day for us, so the place was not crowded; even with the rain, we could enjoy the sights and walk around admiring the nature.
Wonderful place! The site is about 1 kilometer away from the parking spot. The entrance fee is also cheap. A must see if you’re in Hunedoara county.
Sarmizegetusa Regia is a place full of spiritual charge and a wonderful place to visit. Free parking nearby.
Amazing place and experience, it's really well kept and you don't really need hiking equipment to go up there. A big plus is the entrance fee is really cheap. They have an on-site spring with drinkable water near the ruins and toilets near the entrance. We visited this place on a public holiday (1st of June) and there were plenty of parking spaces available. Be careful when driving up there, the road is narrow and some people forget that. Drive safe! A must go to location whenever you are in Hunedoara county. Will definetly visit again.
I've been here 5 times and I'd go every year, if possible. It is my place of peace, of a very positive energy that I can only link to Mother Nature and its supreme beauty. Go, without a care in the world, you will like it here!

Very beautiful, and the area is nice as well. I went on a slightly rainy day, but it was still full of people. The only place I had to wait longer was at the shops. It’s worth visiting at least once. The road to the monastery is very good. If you’re expecting it to be quiet, it’s not—there are a lot of people—but it’s still beautiful.
I had a very good praying time but, not everyone understood the place, necessary to be humble and quiet! Very upset when outside at the parking place we wanted to go to the ladies room and surprisingly men were entering in there. When I ask some cleaning ladies why is the men's room closed they were telling me because they are cleaning. Very rude and mean!!! Sunday at 16.00
Peaceful, organized and relaxing. Beautiful gardens. Come early as it can get very hot. Crowds later in the day. Clean bathrooms, fresh water supply. Book shops but no snacks or drinks. No restaurant. No snack shop. Plenty of parking. Wheel chair accessible. No smoking, decent dress. No shorts. Women must wear skirts and headdress.
A very quite and clean place. Very beautiful. You do not need to buy ticket. You need to check on Google the crowded hours to not stay a few hours to visit the place. We arrived at 9.30 and we stayed to visit the graveyard and to listen the ceremony, around 2.3 hours. Keep in mind to take umbrellas or something to cover in case of raining. If you want to buy candela or a suvenir, you need to be patient because it will be crowded, you can stay at least one hour.
Beautiful place in the middle of the nature. It gets very crowded and many people visiting it, forget that it is a place of worship and of being humble.
So peaceful. We go to pray for our soul and reunite my family
Very thankful for having come here, I hope to come again.
Quiet religious place, has a church from 1399, worth quickly visiting if you are in the area.

Slide 1 of 8
So old, so beautiful and full of grace. It is wonderful that it is still used by the villagers. It's a pity that it is not restored, in the next years it would be a shame to lose such a place.
It's really nice to visit. In my opinion is not more than you expect, exactly that, a stone curch which is filled with history. The outside is really nice, the inside is small and we where greeted by an unfriendly lady. Other than that it was a good experience overall. No tickets needed, it's completely free
This church is really interesting and unique for Romania. It's architecture and story are quite unique and also the scenery is very beautiful. Oh and not many people know about it so it won't be crowded with tourist :)
This is such an unique church, doesn't resemble anything I've seen before. It has such an ancestral feel to it. The scenary from this point is also great, overlooking the local area. Don't miss it, if you're in the area.
It's a must if you are nearby. It is the oldest stone church in Romania. It is also known as St Nicholas' Church. It is made on an old Roman temple using some materials from Ulpia Traiana Samizegetusa fortress. There are also very nice old mural paintings from the 15th century. On the exterior side of the altar you can see two stone lions.
The oldest stone-made orthodox church in Transylvania (roughly 6th century AD), build up on the ruins of a Roman Mausoleum. A really impressive achievement with plenty of mural paintings dated hundreds of years ago and traces of profanation done by turks, mongols and calvinists!
St. Nicholas Church in the village of Densus, located about 10 km from Hateg town, is one of the strangest Orthodox churches in Romania. It is built in a Romanesque style, but incorporates Dacian, Gothic and Orthodox elements . The origin and age of construction are very controversial topics. Among the hypotheses are: pagan temple predacic, Dacian Temple worshiped to the god Zamolxe, Roman temple dedicated to the god Mars, later Christianized (Paleo-Christian church, first from Dacia) or all of these in turn. The most circulated hypothesis assumes that the church had been built in the thirteenth century as the core having a Roman building, probably a monument erected in honor of General Longinus Maximus, governor of Roman Dacia. It is the only church in the village and compete for the title of oldest active church in Romania. The monument originally had a square shape, this being now the nave. It was added to the east (actually more to the south, certifying non-Christian origin) semicircular apse of the altar, complete with a diaconicon. Subsequently were added the "southern" gallery and the narthex to the "west", both being now ruined and roofless. Inside the nave there are four pillars, each made up of two Roman altars stacked. Noteworthy the roof made entirely of stone slabs stacked and decorated with statues of two lions. For the construction of the church are used more constructive and decorative marble elements (columns, statues, capitals, tombstones, sewerage pipes) taken from the ruins of Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa, the capital of Roman Dacia, located only 10 km. Interior painting dates from 1443 and is the work of a team led by Maestro Stephen, with obvious influences with contemporary paintings of Romanian Country. Between 1566-1720 it served as Reformed-Calvin church, Calvin and painting was covered with thick layers of lime. Afterwards it became Greek Catholic church, and in 1872 he returned (with short interruptions in the late nineteenth century) to Orthodox congregation. Wooden iconostasis was painted in the late eighteenth.
Densus church was build centuries ago by people who were using old stone blocks and marble columns from the ancient Sarmizegetusa Ulpia Traiana site. You’ll find out the story if you google it, otherwise you can’t find to many infos at the location. It is not a architectural milestone, I would say there are some grotesque details, because of the materials used, but it is a must see site, considering the fact that it was build in the Byzantine period, and it still is an active church.

Not just ruins but a important site of ancient Romanian time. With a creative mind paired with fantasy, topped by facts and figures, you will see this place as it was: a gem, a mega city, major site of the occupants. Until today, you can see the mastery of the builders. Definitely worth a visit. Take your time and stroll through the complex. After you took in the past, enjoy the now and try some of the traditional Romanian food at the nearby restaurants. We enjoyed both.
Be prepared! 1km uphill climb from parking space to the entrance! Cash only for tickets. After that, a lovely walk through the forrest. Beautiful and peaceful. There are boards giving information about history, which is quite interesting.
Amazing to visit and learn about roman cities. Don't miss out on the other nearby locations.
So much history it is a little Rome. I enjoyed my visit and would love to visit again one day
The ticket was 14 lei which is almost 3€. For this you get an entry into the across the street museum and the ruins. The ruins where nice, nut much to be honest and I also think the experience is whether dependent. On the day we visited it was cloudy with a bit of rain. It could improve a lot but is a nice place to visit if you are passing by. I don't recommend to go specifically here, it takes not more than 30 min to see everything you can see.
The ruins along with the provided information are very interesting. Unfortunately, the main attraction, the amphitheater, is closed for the public and it seems to be “modernized”. Nevertheless, the museum, although small, has a very well informed guide who can answer your questions on the matters of archeology and history of the place and not only. I would recommend to visit.
For some people these are just ruins with no meaning....but these thousands of years roman habitats are full "energy". U also want to go the museum they have across the street and talk to the very knowledgeable guide that takes care of the place. He is the best👏👏👏👏👏

Nice place, very laid back, quiet. There aren't many spots where you could go near the lake that are not private property. We found paddle boats and bycicle boats (?) at a camp and rented one. I find it a bit expensive.. 25 Ron/hour. I do wish people would stop throwing garbage near lakes/rivers.
Beautiful artificial lake built on an old village - you can still see the old village church, search on google maps where to find it. You can rent litle boats and navigate the lake. Many places to stop around and enjoy nature.
Great place, great view at the sunset to spend time and relax with the family. We've had a run with the hydro bike on the lake overlooking the sunset.
Nice view and location. However very few amenities around. If you want to go to a restaurant or cafe you don't have many choices, just the "motel Cinciș" which is a very bad choice if you ask me.
A very nice location to visit. We had a fabulous day out
Nice place, beautiful view.

This is an amazing place, our favorite arboretum in the world and we've been to many. It is well kept but wild at the same time. The little ponds with the waterlilies are beautiful. Entrance is cheap and it's never been busy when we visited. Worth a visit in any season. There are tables if you wish to have a picnic, but watch out for ticks in the summer and bring mosquito repellant.
I visited with my mom on a lovely Saturday morning, and we really enjoyed our walk. Although parts of the park are currently closed for maintenance, it’s temporarily free to enter, which was a nice surprise. The beautiful colors and peaceful atmosphere made our day.
Amazing place!!! We came here on a quick pit-stop and we were so pleasantly surprised by what we found! First of all, the 10 lei entrance fee is so reasonable it would be a shame to miss it because of costs (saw some reviews that you should not pay for a walk - I disagree, all Botanic parks around the world need funds to survive and be able to keep taking care of their plants). And even more, now that they are having some works and some part of the park is closed - they are not requesting any fee. Second, their ponds are WONDERFUL. We loved walking around them and taking pictures ❤️ Check them out and appreciate everything you can find here 🪾🌳🪷
A beautiful large park in the town with very large trees and shaded trails. Many benches to sit on. A stream in the middle. Several ponds with water Lillie’s. Some trees are marked with their names, and a few give more detailed information about their origin. There are several trails you can easily walk one hour or more.
Such a nice place to relax, especially if you are not in a hurry. You can spend a few hours there or just go for a quick walk. Entrance fee 10 lei for an adult.
Entrance was free since half of it was closed for renovation.
A huge forest that would take like at least half a day to visit it all, it’s divided in around to ~30 parcels. It gets very confusing at a point as there are very few signs with Exits or pointers where you are at. A very relaxing spot nonetheless where to spent a day to recharge your batteries in the nature surrounded by a plethora of tree species, you can even buy small plants in pot at the entrance
Truly amazed by the selection and species of the trees. It was very cool, but u can get lost pretty easily in the park 😅

7 pools and jacuzzis with very warm water, perfect for small children. One big slide for older children too. Very cheap entrance ticket.
Clean, warm place... what's missing is a restaurant or anything to buy something to eat. Few vending machines on site tho.
An indoor waterpark with a wave pool, jacuzzis, water slide, whirlpool, bubble massage, and waterjet massage. The depth of the children pool is around 60 cm, the rest of the pools is 1,5 meters, the jacuzzi is 1 meter deep. Also has one salt chamber, infrared saunas, Finnish saunas 95°C, and one Turkish steam sauna 60°C. Water temperature in the pool is kept around 33°C. Good for spending winter time in.
Too much chlorine in the water. The kids were a bit affected by it. Most of the equipment were not working. Very little space for swimming. I appreciated the fact that it was clean and easy to be reached by car.
It's a nice place, but it's also small for such a big city. And very crowded. For children it's nice. But for swimmer you don't really have a lot of place.
A very basic aquapark with some pools, saunas and a single water-slide. Nothing fancy. The POS didn’t work and I saw a kid peeing in the pool. At least it wasn’t too crowded.
Nice place with inside pools that have warm water. The price is 25 lei for 3 hours and 45 lei for one day, but i did not stayed longer than the 3 hours because of the chlorine vapors that are in the pools (could be that they use so much chlorine because of hygienic reasons). As a conclusion the place is clean, has many water massage options for elders but also waterslides for kids. I did not test the sauna or the salt cabin.
25 lei for 3 hours, 45 lei one day. Restaurant is closed since 2020, but they let you order food from Deva and eat inside. Public location. Do not expect fancy things, great for kids and adults also. No outside pools. There is also sauna, extra charge. Needs some renovation. Clean enough. Staff is very polite and helpful.

Very picturesque place, definitely worth visiting, specially on a hot summer day. Might be a good idea to take a flashlight if you want to explore some darker corners. Waterproof boots or sandals recommend if you are planning to go to the exit on the other end - there's quite a nice gorge there. Drive all the way up to the entrance, there's a small parking lot free of charge and if there's no spot available you can always drive back down.
A lovely experience and a mush go. You get mesmerized from the beautiful of the cave. A family friendly and a budget friendly place. Ticket costs only 10 lei per adult and 5 for pensioners. Children go free.
An absolutely spectacular cave! Full of history, fascinating formations, and so much to see along the way. The circuit is quite long, which makes the visit feel like a real journey underground rather than just a quick stop – we spent almost 2 hours exploring and were amazed the entire time. It’s also excellent value for money given how much there is to discover. Truly one of those unforgettable experiences in Romania that shouldn’t be missed!
Interesting place. The cave is huge and very old. A few stairs to go down. Limited parking space available specially in holidays. Busses and big vehicles other than cars or vans are not allowed in the area.
Absolutely amazing… ❤️ you definitely have to experience this natural creation when exploring Romania!
Good vibe, high positive energy. Recomanded, go and charging your batteries.
Very nice place,to visit, very cool inside, you can smell Bear present in the cave,so it's very chilling feeling when you walking around, beautiful place but Romanian government should invest in places like this, not to waste money on dill growing,.... recommend place to visit 💯
A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Transylvania Boli Cave is one of those magical places that takes you by surprise the moment you step inside. Located just a short drive from Petroșani, this natural wonder is easy to reach but feels like a world apart. The entrance is wide and impressive, almost like a natural cathedral carved into the mountain. Inside, the cave is spacious and beautifully illuminated, making it safe and accessible for families with children, while still preserving its raw, authentic charm. The underground river flowing through it adds a mysterious touch, and the cool air is refreshing, especially on hot summer days. What makes Boli Cave even more special is its unique atmosphere — it has been used for cultural events, concerts, and even theatrical performances, thanks to its amazing acoustics. Walking through it, you can feel both the history and the legends that surround the place. The guides and staff are very welcoming and eager to share stories, making the visit not just a sightseeing stop but a real cultural and natural experience. ✨ Tip: Bring a light jacket (it’s cooler inside), and if you’re traveling with kids, they’ll love exploring the huge caverns and hearing the legends of the cave. Overall, Boli Cave is a must-see in the Jiu Valley area — a mix of nature, history, and a bit of mystery. It’s the perfect stop if you’re exploring the Transylvanian mountains or driving between Deva and Petroșani.

Amazing place with a lot of useful informations about the little dinosaurs from Hațeg area. This museum is a must to visit especially if you have kids or for the fans of tv series House of Dragons from HBO. Thanks for bringing us here.
Visiting the Dinosaur Geopark in Țara Hațegului was an unforgettable and educational experience for both adults and children. The site is rich in history and offers a fascinating glimpse into the prehistoric world of the Hațeg Island and its unique dwarf dinosaurs. What truly made our visit exceptional was the amazing guide who welcomed us with warmth and enthusiasm. She was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and kind. Her way of telling stories and explaining scientific facts in an accessible and captivating manner made the entire experience come alive. She interacted wonderfully with the children, answered all our questions with patience, and created a friendly, relaxed atmosphere from start to finish. The exhibits are well-curated, with hands-on displays and life-size reconstructions that help visitors visualize the ancient world. The educational aspect is presented in a fun and interactive way, perfect for families and school groups. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Hațeg area. It’s not just a visit to a museum, but a journey into Romania’s prehistoric past, brought to life by passionate people. A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to our wonderful guide — she made the experience truly special and memorable!
I recently visited the Dinosaur Geopark in Hateg, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise. Although the park is relatively small, it packs a punch with its unique exhibits and passionate guides. Tibi, Our Fantastic Guide: Tibi, our guide, made the experience truly memorable. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he shared fascinating insights about the ancient creatures that once roamed this region. His storytelling skills brought the dinosaurs back to life, making the tour engaging and educational. Dinosaur Discoveries: The museum houses artifacts discovered in recent years. These rare finds provide a glimpse into the prehistoric world. Tibi’s explanations made the exhibits come alive, and I left with a newfound appreciation for these ancient giants. Community Effort: What impressed me most was that the geopark was created by a group of young enthusiasts. Their dedication put Hateg on the tourist map, and I applaud their efforts. The fact that there’s no entrance fee (though donations are welcome) speaks to their passion for sharing knowledge. In summary, the Dinosaur Geopark may be small, but it’s big on heart. If you find yourself in Hateg, don’t miss this hidden gem. And remember to ask for Tibi—he’ll make your visit unforgettable! 🦕🌿 Note: The Dinosaur Geopark is located at Libertatii Street 9A, Hateg, Hunedoara, Romania1. 🌍
Excellent place to visit, tons of history, had no clue dinosaurs used to live here. There is no entry fee, the tour guide is volunteering and you can tell he loves doing this. Congratulations and thanks for this experience!
Small museum, no entry fee. Public parking available. Supported just by volunteers, but they do an amazing job. Worth a stop. The guided tour takes 10 minutes. Real dinosaurs eggs found in Romania are on display. Also 1:1 replica of two dinosaurs discovered in Romania on display.
In Hațeg!! BEST!! Must visit!!! Didn't buyed any ticket, a very good relaxing time!! Spent a lot of time playing with the black cat, educated, very very playful!!! Touring was extraordinary, very good people!!! Remember to donate money for extraordinary experience!
Great experience for both kids and adults; many places for the little ones to play and also plenty of spaces to relax; we enjoyed delicious food and a very nice atmosphere.
We were very impressed! Definitely recommend visiting. Family friendly, perfects for kids above 5 years. The guides are very friendly and well prepared. They are all volunteers and you can seen that they love working there. We did not have the chance to visit everything, but we will make time in the future. You do not have to pay anything, you can donate. I would recommend to call in advance and plan the visit

Cool place, there are a lot of shops here. You can do normal shopping, buy clothes or something as a gift for a loved one.
You can find everything what you need from here, they also have a lot of famous restaurants in the food court. Parking is free of charge
A pretty nice Shopping Mall. Not a lot of big brands, but the warmth and friendliness of the people compensate the lack of expensive stores. They have a nice food court with lots of choices. Also the Mall have a Cinema.
A big surprise to find this modern mall in the former communist town. There's even a KFC inside.
An ok mall for this city with food court and plenty of shops.
Great shopping center. You can find everything you want
Keep up the good work

The Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilisation in Deva offers a fascinating glimpse into the ancient history of the region. Housed in a modern building, the museum features a rich collection of artifacts from the Dacian and Roman civilizations, including pottery, jewelry, weaponry, and architectural fragments. Highlights include archaeological finds from nearby sites such as the Dacian Sarmizegetusa Regia fortress and the Roman Castrum Deva. Educational programs and guided tours make it an ideal destination for history enthusiasts of all ages.
So much history in the museum. My favourite section was the falconry! 🦅🖤
This is a must see in Deva regardless of your interests I'm sure it holds something relevant for you The name is a bit of a misnomer, it really is a county museum with a bit of everything, indeed most of the exhibits are related to Dacian and Roman culture, but there is also a natural history segment, quite a bit of art on display, several temporary exhibitions Curation could be improved on some segments, but for the 4 euro price of admission you will definitely get your money's worth and even more so if you like archeology. Most of the exhibition has English translation and the location in this old palace adds a different vibe to the visit I found the personnel quite non intrusive but helpful when needed, really felt like I had the whole place for myself and you can take as many pictures you like Spent close to three hours exploring it, this isn't a small museum as others have said here, but given that not everything is translated foreigners might only take maybe an hour and a half if they appreciate archaeology
The guided tours given to us by the young summer interns were absolutely world class. They knew the history and gave us a tour in English on the spot without any advanced preparation. Impressive exhibits and history.
The exibit was a bit of a cluster of Everything they found and were able to put in. Some fossils, taxidermy animals, some paintings. There is a Lapidarium in the back (easy to miss if someone doesn't tell you it's there) with colums and old greek/roman rocks. Not a must see, but a nice to see if you have the time. The outside of the building is cute!
14.10.2022 why new exhibition about restoration of the fortress wasnt done in english also??? Excellent exhibition in 2nd floor about the industrialization of the Banat-even in english.Parking around very tricky!
A good museum, must see if you travel for one day tó Déva. It has all exponents from the area and much more.
A modest but interesting museum. Nice, helpful staff. Overall a worthwhile experience.

Very interesting exhibition. Middle ages was definitely not a good time to be alive.
Very well-organised. But very graphic display. I saw children that were afraid in there .This exhibition is for 14 years old and older. It's totally ok for adults but not children. I would never bring my child there. There should be at least a sign saying it's not recommended for children under 14. That's why I took one star out.
I liked it, I wish it was bigger 🥹
The exhibition looks realistic due to all the life-sized mannequins and the torture devices. Adding to the realism are the sound effects as well but they get a bit repetitive after some time.
Interesting idea and graphic presentation, but very small. Ticket price ok.
Loved it! Not a house of horrors...but a testimony to a small part of what mankind is capable of! The exponents are great ....realy detailed without being gory! It's a must!
Cool little exhibition, cheap and informative, goes along well with the castle!
