Our first trip to South Dakota made even more special with our stay at the cozy Bavarian Inn.
Friendly, courteous and attentive staff. Our room had quality comfy beds, coffee, small fridge and microwave.. The grounds are lovely with a European fitness trail! Love the outdoor corridors adorned with flowers. The Feel Good Cafe is right next door for all your coffee concoctions and breakfast needs.
It’s a perfect location for the historic Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and more.
We would definitely return, beats a hotel stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The indoor and outdoor pools were both very nice. Loved the complimentary guest laundry, including detergent! The decor in all the pubic spaces was delightful, as was the on property cafe. The staff was friendly and helpful. While we weren't traveling with children, it is a great place for kids with lots of activities. We would definately stay here again.

My husband, myself and our 3 boys stayed here earlier this year in June. Such a cute place to stay. The room was plenty big for all of us. So many things on property to keep our boys busy. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. There was a nice reading area next to the hot tub full of children's books. There were multiple sitting areas on the property for some nice quiet space. A short 'nature trail' went around the back of the property. The Feel Good Cafe just up the hill had a really yummy breakfast although not exactly the 'sit-down' kind of place we were expecting. Still, a very nice place. All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay here. The one negative was that we did find hair on the pillows when we arrived. This is why I always bring pillow cases from home.

Nice quiet location, comfortable beds, pretty balcony or patio to hang out. Unfortunately I forgot my swimsuit and couldn't use the two pools or the hot tub. There's also a pickleball court and free laundry, and the room conveniently had a fridge and a microwave. The ladies at the reception were very nice. I'd stay here again if I ever come back to Custer.
As an advice, not criticism - I thought the bathtub was more slippery than usual, a rubber mat would be useful to avoid accidents.

Overall this hotel is fantastic and I highly recommend it. Had a great stay here and was very dog friendly. They’d benefit from getting Do Not Disturb signs. Housekeeping just opened my door without warning (3 hours before checkout) and let one of my dogs out. Also lots of dog poop on the lawn area. As a dog owner, cmon other owners - do better

The Bavarian Inn was such a nice reprieve during a road trip. Booked a room after a few nights of camping. The front desk was super kind and welcoming. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There are washer and dryers to use for free in addition to detergent. This was much appreciated after traveling for several days. The property is nice, has an indoor/outdoor pool, pickle ball, etc. On our way out, we could order ahead at the cafe and pick up breakfast and coffee on our way to the days adventures. Not on the main road in Custer but super close by to easily get to restaurants and shops

Truly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed! I have never experienced a property that pays such incredible attention to even the smallest details. From the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out, everything was thoughtfully planned and perfectly executed.
When we were leaving, we actually tried to come up with something we didn’t like - and we couldn’t think of a single thing. There’s plenty to do on the property, with activities for all ages, and most importantly, they provide all the equipment you need to enjoy them. It made it super easy to stay entertained without ever leaving.
One of the highlights was the fresh cookies and milk served daily between 3:30 and 4:30pm - delicious touch! The Café on-site also serves high-quality, delicious food for breakfast and early lunch (we’ll be leaving a separate review for that).
The location is amazing, too - only about a 3-minute drive (less than a mile) from downtown Custer, which has tons of shops, restaurants, and stores. The only downside is that you can’t really walk there due to the busy road and lack of a safe shoulder - but that’s more about the road than the property itself.
If I had to come up with a negative, it would be that the shower head is a bit low for the average-height adult - but honestly, if that’s my biggest gripe, it should tell you just how amazing the rest of the stay was.
We absolutely loved it here and will be recommending the Bavarian Inn to everyone we know.

We booked one night, not knowing anything about the property when we arrived, but decided to stay a second night because we were so pleased with what we saw. Although this is considered a budget motel, we were very pleased with our stay. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The bed was comfy. The hot water was hot and plentiful. Absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely come back! As Best Western members, we were greeted with two complimentary water bottles—a small but thoughtful gesture we’ve rarely seen elsewhere.
The hotel was fully booked, yet parking was ample. Our room had all the essentials, was well maintained, and the breakfast was excellent—eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee, and some of the best orange juice we've had. The highlight was the smart TV with casting, which let us stream from our phones and enjoy a cozy night in.
Location is perfect—close to all the major attractions and dining spots.
Note: There’s no elevator, so if your room is upstairs, you’ll need to carry your luggage up the outdoor stairs. It wasn’t a problem for us, but something to keep in mind.

Our bed was very uncomfortable and the sofa sleeper couch was broken so uncomfortable to sleep on. The room itself was not great. We had a 3 night non refundable stay. Had we not had that, we would’ve left. Pluses: great pool, fantastic breakfast (way above the norm) and super helpful and friendly staff. Granted I did not request a different room, which may have been a much better room. I don’t plan to return.

Went here for a late overnight stay on the way back from Colorado. Checked in around 12:30 and the front desk was super great, and had us in our rooms by 12:35. The rooms were super clean and big, with space for luggage and other things. Breakfast was provided and was hot and delicious. There was also outside seating available and the location was great. If you’re looking for a place to stay, this is a great option.

This is a nice place for the price and for the area. It is real good for the distance from both Mount Rushmore and the Ceazy Horse Monument. The breakfast was decent. I really enjoyed the eggs. The room bed was comfortable, I wasnt able to use the pull-out sofa but we made it work. The area is nice. The pool was cool as well. The people and staff were nice. The staff explained things well and were accommodating.

Accueil minimal de remise de clé, chambre sombre, défraîchie avec odeur d'humidité. Les équipements sont très bruyants (réfrigérateur, ventilation salle de bains, climatisation).
Bien qu'ayant réservé 6 mois en avance et directement sur le site Best Western, notre chambre était très mal située au rez-de-chaussée, face à un escalier.
Il semblerait que certaines chambres soient renovées, ce n'était pas du tout le cas de la nôtre !

We stayed 4 nights in a 3 bed room. The room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. The room was pretty quiet. The coffee in the lobby was excellent. They offered a standard continental breakfast, no complaints. The pool was cold. The hotel could use some exterior improvements. The bathroom could be cleaner or updated. Overall, the stay was acceptable and comfortable.

The bed was unfortunately uncomfortable. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was great with biscuits and gravy, egg option, sausage, cereal, muffins, yogurt, ect. Walkable to two restaurants, one divey kind of bar and mexican place. Short drive to town or long walk. I did not expect it to be a motel based on the pictures but that was my bad for not checking.

We have never stayed at such a clean and well- appointed Super 8. The staff was extraordinary in accommodating our special needs for my mobility- impaired husband and the rooms were spotless. Sheets were crisp and fresh and the pillow top mattress was addictive. Did not use the hot tub or pool but went by and the tub was good and hot; the pool was clean and heated nicely. The breakfast was exemplary.
We had a dead truck battery the morning of our departure and Julia was amazing- she tried calling around to help us find help on a Sunday and we were so grateful for the grace shown at a somewhat stressful time. I also want to give a shout out to the cleaning lady who was smiling and gracious when I exchanged our used towels. She works real hard so y’all remember to tip!! All in all, this was one of the best stays we have had for both services and amenities and is a real bargain at this price point. I would stay at this delightful and refreshing motel again in a heartbeat. THANKS Y’ALL!

Only taking off a star because the hotel is kind of dated. So it’s not a 5 star hotel. BUT our stay was fabulous!!
Friendly staff. We had the really big room above the office. 301, I think. There was a separate bedroom (should have a king bed in there) with a large living room with a pull out sofa sleeper, and bunk beds. There is also a queen bed in that room. Easily could sleep 8-9 people. We had 5. A full kitchen!! We were able to bake a frozen pizza. Just Bo pizza cutter. Some silverware. A sink to wash the dishes. The sponges should be replaced.
I also suggested curtains for the windows that the light shines through in that main room. My kids were awake at the crack of dawn!
Great price for the location and room. Would stay again! My kids loved it! (I should have gotten before pictures).

We were pleasantly surprised by this Super 8. The room was clean and spacious, with plenty of room for our belongings. We're traveling across the country and staying in a mix of budget-friendly and higher-end hotels, and this stay actually outshone a few of the Hilton properties we've visited.
Our room was conveniently located on the first floor, with our car parked right in front—making it easy to keep an eye on our vehicle, Starlink, and bike. The pool and jacuzzi were clean and remained empty throughout our stay, which was a nice bonus.

We came to Custer for a wedding and this hotel was very convenient to get to and find. We had a trailer with us and they were helpful in trying to accommodate the parking situation. The staff was friendly and anytime we ask for something such as the pool being a little on the cold side they addressed it. Rooms were clean but our favorite part was the outstanding breakfast options! For a free breakfast this was top notch. I can’t remember the last time a hotel had eggs sausage, biscuits and gravy AND amazing waffles!

I do not enjoy giving poor reviews however I must be honest with my information. We were hit with major attitude by "Chris" when we checked in. Sorry we were 15 minutes early and he let us know about it for sure. Following morning again attitude when inquired where breakfast was. Kept his head down in the screen and just pointed where to go. Second morning, breakfast food was missing. No eggs, sausage, finally refilled after a long period of time. People hanging around waiting for food.
No elevator so had to care heavy bags upstairs.

We stayed 1 night earlier this month and found the rooms to be very clean, well equipped and comfy. Never heard any noise from other rooms (and the hotel was full) and they had a terrific breakfast each morning.
The Lobby is beautiful with a lodge-look to it and beautiful big windows looking out to the woods and what looks like a waterfall/fountain that normally would have been working but wasn't during our stay.
Although it was a bit pricey for a Holiday Inn, it was very nice and convenient to everything in Custer. We would stay here again.

Our third time here over the years, this will be our last at this hotel. Convenient? Yes but so is next door Comfort Inn where we will stay in the future. No fan in bathroom has set off alarm twice. Overall, we were not very happy with this hotel.
1) They modified the wrong room on our reservation and changed our two queens to one king, so we had to sleep two adults and a kid in there for 3 nights since they had no queens left.
2) The staff was all non-American people who were quite rude (and had a tip jar at breakfast, which is ridiculous in itself, but the fact that they were on their phones every morning, many of the food items were either empty or cold, and they were NOT friendly at all makes it even worse).
3) The hotel was not clean and had the same filthy floors for multiple days in a row.

Of over 100 IHG locations in several countries, this is easily the worst experience I've had.
Breakfast, just don't. Go to a local diner, food is gone, pancake maker is broken, hair and debris in with fruit bowls, nothing looks clean and trash overflowing. (At 8:30, a full hour before end of service).
Room: towels are awful. Frayed and barely usable. We stayed at a motel the night previous and their towels were multiples improved. No vent in the bathroom.
Hopefully you don't set your expectations of IHG (especially HIE) hotels by this experience. Truly unfortunate that this property is allowed to retain the IHG branding.

Great for kids! The decoration was fun for my little kids. They loved the animals and the fake fireplace was great because they could be around it and it was not hot. The view out back was beautiful. The breakfast was pretty good for a continental breakfast. The hot tub was too hot and the pool was too cold so we didn't enjoy it as much as we would have. The bed was too hard for me and I slept horribly, but my husband liked it.

I have plans to visit this hotel and am very concerned to do so. Between myself and Expedia they have been called numerous times trying to get a hold of someone at the front desk about my reservation. We left another resort at 10:30pm due to rain and wind rattling the teepee. Days Inn Custer, SD took us in at that late hour. We stayed the whole 5 nights. CJ the host was very gracious and accommodating, always a nice greeting and smile. Room very clean, AC cold, big refrigerator in room, bathroom clean, water hot. Breakfast in nice large room, lots of choices. We went to breakfast at a pink bakery and the coffee was so weak I asked for stronger. Waitress got flippant offering espresso. Big difference from a good cup of coffee. Coffee at Days Inn was perfect, strong and hot. Laundry facilities were great. We loved our stay here. Very close to all attractions, restaurants, shopping. The beds and pillows were amazing. Very easy in and out. Cute Mt Rushmore pictures over bed and on room # outside door.

This Days Inn was about as bad as the one in Hot Springs. Custer had my reservation ready when we got there but that was the only nice thing I can say about them. There was no 24 hour service cause when my wife and I checked out at 5:50am nobody came to the front desk also there was no breakfast like stated. The air conditioner in the room didn't work the greatest, it barely pushed out cold air plus the control nobs seemed broken. Now let's go to the bathroom that had a few things wrong as well like the main sink didn't have cold water and the bathtub faucet looked like it was pulled away from the wall and the safety handle to get out of the tub looked broken. The vent cover was just hanging there. The toilet was just the right size for a toddler not a grown adult

We decided on a whim to stay in Custer City as the town looked inviting as we drove through. Stopped into the Days Inn and there were rooms available. I should have known by the strong smell of pine sol that it was going to be sketchy. The door to enter from the outside was open all the time, no key needed, our hotel room door was broke, the knob from the outside was loose and door had to be slammed to close. The bathroom was gross. Didn't even want to shower or brush teeth. The toilet was so low it was very difficult to get up from and no grab bars. There is no coffee maker, nor microwave in the room. Our air conditioner only work semi well and the clean filter light was on the whole time. The beds were comfortable and tv was large. My husband was very sensitive to the strong smell of pine sol, made him nauseous.
I will say the location was great.

We were running kinda behind schedule, so we were not able to made it on time to Mount Rushmore and our booked hotel in Rapid City. We arrived in Custer around 7 pm, no booking in advance. October 2025 is off season for tourism in Custer, that's why most of hotels were closed for the winter or under remodeling. We stopped by two on the way - no 2 rooms availability, in Days Inn, the third one, few rooms on the first floor were available. It was a big luck for my family if 3 adults and my 3 month old baby. Almost all town is off season, but these guys are still standing, still operating!!! After some negative reviews in google, I was concerned about this place. But don't judge by the cover or by bad reviews! Yes, it's just a 2-star hotel, but staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful, helped us with luggage and in the morning with directions to Mount Rushmore, because Google maps were not updated much about local constructions, what was very surprising. Hotel is very clear, new carpet, new paint, new furniture in rooms, comfortable beds, and bathrooms with additional soft towels and good quality toiletries. Hotel has convenient location, and parking.

We recently stayed here for about 2 weeks during the Sturgis rally. CJ was wonderful and always made sure we were taken care of! He provided supplies so we could clean our motorcyles each morning before we took off. We played cards in the kitchen area every evening. The hotel is perfectly located for a quick walk to town for eats and drinks and very convenient to enjoy rides to all surrounding areas, Wyoming, Sturgis, Bad Lands, Wild Life Loop, Hill City, several canyons, Hot Springs, Rapid City, etc. Yes, it is an older hotel, but the AC is cold, the rooms are clean and the owner is great! Please note, if you are handicapped you will need a room on 1st floor because they do not have an elevator. We would stay there again and recommend for anyone looking for a great value hotel! We had 5 rooms with us and family/friends. We also did our laundry mid way through our stay.

The room was exactly what we needed after a day in the Black Hills and was very comfortable. Even though we left in a hurry the next morning, our host bade us a friendly farewell. So, this is a GREAT place to stay especially if you have dogs!!! Our cabin was incredibly comfortable! The porch was perfect for watching the sun set or just enjoying the weather. They sit on the side of a hill as you come into town and they are shaded by tall pines. The grounds are well manicured as are the rooms. Ours had a king bed, coffee maker, mini fridge and wet bar and a sofa sleeper. We decided to stay an extra night when we first opened the door.
The only possible downside is the hot tub and pool close at 20:00. I would suggest adults only from 8p-11p in the summer. We never returned before 8p but would have loved to relax in the hot tub before bed.
We'll certainly be staying here again or anytime we're in Custer.

Location is great- just a 15 minute drive to surrounding state and national parks. We stayed in the family cabin that could hold 5 (queen, 2 twins, and a fold-out couch) plus a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Only 1 bathroom, but it was nice. They have a pool on the premises that closes at 8pm and you can walk to nearby mini golf and a pie restaurant. Overall, the cabin was clean with a modern kitchen, and it served our needs. I would not recommend it for a place to "hang out" as it was dark and a tight space with a view of the parking lot, but as a stop off point to get to the parks, it was very good. The cabins up top that were more in the trees, looked a little more picturesque and maybe had more privacy for hanging out than our cabin in the parking lot.

My husband & I had booked 2 nights here with our 2 toddlers in a 2 bedroom suite. We were arriving after midnight & could not get ahold of anyone to confirm a late arrival, so ended up playing it safe & staying somewhere else. The next day when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find a very clean & spacious room & they credited us a full refund for the night before. The lodge is located right on the main street in Custer, super convenient for walking to dinner! The continental breakfast was an added bonus. We would gladly stay again, if they were easier to contact (we called 15 times over the course of 5 hours & sent 2 emails).

Completely disappointing! Rooms are like motel style in the city. Cabins on top the hill are by some trees but are so dirty. Breakfast is grab and go of just cereal and bagels and staff was knowledgeable about hotel so couldn't help with issues that arose. Will never stay there again.

Our cabin was cute and mostly private. We enjoyed the deck. Staff at check in was a little rude when we showed up before the 3 pm check in. She was so dismissive and adamant about no check in before 3, which is understandable but she should have been polite about it and offer to hold our bags. We came back at 230 and lol and behold a different person was very polite and let us have the room before 3.
This is a bare bones motel. Nothing fancy but offers sleep and proximity.
The location is within walking distance to the downtown Custer area where there are lots of shops and restaurants. The State Park is close and Jewel Cave is nearby.

Booked a last minute motorcycle trip to the 85th Sturgis Rally. Was able to get a room at the Chief Motel in Custer. Staff/Owners are extremely accommodating and friendly. Loved that they had a place set up for folks to wash their motorcycles. Room was clean and comfortable. Looked like a nice pool area though I didn't use it. Loved the porch and chairs outside each room to hang out in the early evening. In walking distance to restaurants and stores. This hotel was probably built in the 50's or 60's so it brought backed nostalgic memories n regards to family trips and places we stayed in the 1960's and 1970's when I was a child. Would stay here again if in the area.

What a lovely little hotel close to all the attractions. Super clean and fresh rooms. Beds are comfy and the softest sheets Ive ever slept on in a hotel. The owner is so friendly and helpful. If we are ever in Custer again we will be staying here. Thank you for a wonderful experience. My husband said "Do they put sugar in the towns water? Everyone in town are so sweet".

This is a cute place. There is a designated parking spot per room, which is helpful! We enjoyed having a ceiling fan instead of a noisy wall unit. The indoor pool is advertised as the "largest in the county." They also have a hot tub and sauna. There are changing room/shower/toilet, one for men and and one for women. There is no breakfast served, but there is a microwave and mini fridge in each room. The motel is also within walking distance to some restaurants. Bruce is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming!

We have been coming to Custer for years and have never stayed here. Big mistake! We usually stay at one of the big 3 at the end of town. This hotel was 70 dollars cheaper, so we tried it. Glad we did. The room was clean! I mean no hair, no dust, no mold in the bathroom. The toilet paper was even a thicker 2 ply. They bed was comfy, and the AC was cold. The parking spots are numbered, so you get to park by your room. They also have a pool and jacuzzi.

Enjoyed staying here! Sat on the porch outside our room and watched a deer walk right past our room, cross the 4 lane road and graze across the street! It was great! On our way to this hotel for the night, me and my boyfriend were in an ugly car crash outside of town. While in the hospital getting checked out, I was able to get ahold of them and get our stay lengthened. Sits nearly right in the heart of downtown Custer. As usual, I questioned this or any lower end hotel chain very hard before booking. But I’ve found that being out west like this, they turn out to be, as this one did, really decent. The room had wood bed frames and other furniture that matched. Sure nothing was brand new but still well taken care of. Breakfast was full of bread but still has other smaller options and fruit. I’d like to note that there was a very new employee working the breakfast that was quick and very caring about the customers. It’s the small things sometimes.

When we got there we were greeted (and I use the term loosely because she didn't give a greeting at all) by a front desk attendant who seemed to be annoyed that we took her away from her phone to be checked in. She attempted to check us in and put a credit card on file, but their system kept rejecting our cards. We still have no explanation why. Great location, walkable distance to everything. General interior and exterior of the property seemed clean. No elevators. Can't enter the side doors, only exit. Room decor was cute for the area, lodge themed. Sheets and sink were clean but the shower had hair everywhere and the hot tub as well. I tested the jacuzzi before I got in but all sorts of little black dots came out so I opted out. Carpets need vacuumed bad, I had to wear shoes the whole time. Didn't hear any neighbors, seems to have pretty good sound proofing between rooms. Breakfast was bare bones and cheap mini muffins/Danish and breads but wasn't expecting much for continental so plan to grab breakfast elsewhere. I put a do not disturb sign up on the door but still received a knock at 9am and then again at 10:30am letting us know 11am was check out. What's the point of the sign then? Front desk at check in was quite short and unhelpful with me initially but was fine later in the night, no one there at check out time. Parking in the front is limited and tight for larger vehicles but there is additional side and rear parking (no clear signage if you're coming in late at night though). It worked for a one night stay but I would choose elsewhere in Custer next time.

This was a terrific place to stay. Don’t be nervous because the motel doesn’t do advance reservations by email, just by phone. We love staying at retro types of places and sadly, they are fast disappearing. The motel is spotlessly clean as are the lobby and parking lot. Wonderful to drive right up to your door, just like the old days. There are even spaces blocked off just for motorcycles. The room had a microwave and frig plus two good chairs and even two luggage racks. Very nicely decorated and outfitted . Delicious coffee in the lobby. Best part: walking distance to downtown Custer and the shops and restaurants. So convenient to so many attractions. Would stay here again.

I stayed here for two nights, and I’m really glad I did! The owners are very kind, and I felt like I was well taken care of! The place has lots of charm, and it captures a really cool retro feeling from the sign out front to the red, white, and black color palette in the rooms, (and the landline telephone!) it really did feel like a blast from the past. The room I stayed in was spotless, my bed was extremely comfortable, and it was exactly what I needed after a long day of driving and hiking around the black hills. It’s also within walking distance of lots of other attractions within Custer, so you can go downtown and spend the evening there easily if you want! I would absolutely stay again, and it is well worth the price!

Lovely place! I ended up staying here two nights, albeit in different chalets, since I booed the second night last minute after changing some travel plans. The chalets are def vintage in a cute way, but they are spacious, clean, and the ac works just fine. It was nice to have the breakfast left in the room. The woman from the reception kindly checked in with me before my arrival to make sure that I had all the necessary information. It’s a good base for exploring the Custer state park, Deadwood, or Mt Rushmore. Oh, and there’s a coffee/breakfast kiosk right next door - I walked there to get an excellent iced coffee one of the mornings.

So charming! A motor court from the 1930's. If you love charm and history, this is the place. Our unit had a little kitchen, living, bedroom and bathroom. Cute and retro. Extremely clean with everything we needed. Flowers outside with a little bistro set to enjoy the evening. Chatted with the owner Michelle and she shared some of the history with us. Skip the chain hotel and book this place! Super clean, has everything you need including a continental breakfast in your room! There is parking, it’s walking distance to downtown Custer and no charge for pets. I stayed in number 10 and it had a good sized kitchen with a full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, electric stove with oven plus a regular size sink. I could have stayed for days and been perfectly happy!

We stayed for a single night in this beautiful motel during our trip to Badlands National Park. It was super clean, cute, tiny, beautifiul room with a perfect location. The host was super nice, kind and interested with all possible inquiries. If one day, I'll come back around, definitely I'll choose it for staying. We recently stayed in Bungalow 9 at EO Bungalows for 6 nights and had a delightful experience. The property itself is a real charmer. The fresh flowers throughout the courtyard and doorways added a lovely touch, and our bungalow was clean, bright, and well-lit.
Here are some of the things we loved the most:
Comfortable & Convenient: The Purple mattress on the queen bed was incredibly comfortable, and the unique TV that descends from the ceiling in the bedroom was a fun touch. Additionally, the well-equipped kitchen allowed us to whip up meals, and having Lynn's Dakotamart within walking distance was very convenient.
Great Workspace: The dedicated workspace with a comfortable desk chair and a charming South Dakota-themed lamp was perfect for catching up on work during the day. The WiFi was good!
Relaxation & Location: My husband loved using the massage chair in the living room every day. The bungalow's location was fantastic - walking distance from the main street of Custer with its many shops and restaurants, the food store, and I even managed to walk to the Custer Skywalk Trail easily.
Excellent Service & Communication: Although communication with the owner was initially a bit challenging, it became a highlight! After check-in, I received daily text messages checking on us and our stay. Everything we requested (and with a 6-night stay, that was several things!) was quickly and magically taken care of by unseen helpers! We were even surprised by a delicious box of kuchen in our fridge, which was a lovely treat.
A small note on the shower: It looked fantastic, but unfortunately, the water pressure wasn't strong enough for the jets and other features to truly function well. Additionally, the shower floor could be very slippery when wet and soapy, so be careful!
Overall, EO Bungalows was a wonderful home base for us as we explored the Black Hills region. We would definitely recommend it to couples looking for a comfortable, convenient, and charming place to stay in Custer.

Absolutely an amazing place to stay! Very comfortable and cozy! The location was excellent and walking distance to the Grocery store and bar/restaurants. In fact, I walked to and from the Ace Hardware on the east side of Custer. Very close to pretty much every attraction and small town in the Black Hills. I stayed August 2-9 2025 in unit 7, one of the small units during Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, it was quiet and comfortable my entire stay. Room was equipped with everything. The guests in the other units were nice and we had great conversations around the fire pit after our long days of exploring the Black Hills on our motorcycles. The only thing I would complain about is the small sink in the bathroom and the lighting in the bathroom. However, the sink size was understandable given the limited space. Even though I was there for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, some of the days it was hard to want to leave the comfort of this place to go on the rides I planned. I will say, out of all my vacations and stays, this place tops them all and made it very hard to leave. I will most definitely return if available next time. If you are considering your stay at this site, don't question, just do it!! Thank you EO Bungalows for an amazing addition to my annual vacation!!

I had a nice stay at the EO Bungalows. The location is pretty ideal for visiting Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park. It's also not too far from Devil's Tower National Monument.
The room was nice and clean. The kitchen amenities are great if you are interested in a longer stay and not eating out. The WiFi was strong and the room access is very convenient. The room has an adjustable bed and a pretty funky shower if you're into that. the bed was very comfortable. Probably the most pleasant and interesting surprise for me was the 7 am rainbow in the room from the sunrise through the window over the bed (see pic).
A couple of quirks are the heater and the water temperature. There were absolutely no issues with the hot water in the shower but the kitchen and bathroom faucet water were rarely warm. The heater unit was very effective at warming up the room but often seemed unable to tell the correct temperature and we had to just turn it off so the room would not overheat.

Quiet Comfort Near the Parks
We stayed one night at Bearded Buffalo Resort (June 15–16) with our 33-ft 5th wheel in a back-in, full hookup site. The gravel pad was level and easy to navigate, making for a smooth setup. The shower house was clean and well-maintained, and the whole property had a peaceful, quiet vibe that made for a restful evening.
The staff—and especially the owners—were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great suggestions for local activities. You can’t beat the location: it’s just a short drive to Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park, and Mount Rushmore.

First, the very new homes have excellent quality with two levels of huge space and great AC and heat with large eating area. Second the outside patio and fire pit were fantastic for entertainment
Third the location is so convenient as couple miles into Custer Park and less than a mile into town. It was nothing to get groceries, great restaurant food or rent Polaris ATV. Finally, the owners of Bearded Buffalo were so professional and friendly to work with. They answered our questions, showed us the home amenities and cared about our experience. We recommend and plan in future years to return here

We stayed in a bungalow, but it felt like a 4⭐️ home. The furniture and kitchen supplies are of very good quality and ample quantity. The staff are friendly and quick to respond to questions. We recommend guests to visit the coffee trailer where Ridley makes your favorite morning beverage. The location is ideal for visiting all sights in the Black Hills and Custer State Park. Our family stayed at the Bearded Buffalo for a week to celebrate my husband's and my 40th wedding anniversary. This place was perfect! We have 12 grandchildren and they were able to run and play and the adults had plenty of room as well. This is a beautiful place and we highly recommend it!

The house was clean and kitchen stocked with all the items a person would need to prepare any meal. Outside patio and sitting area was nice. Fire pit area only had a couple of sappy man made pine benches to sit on. FyI, Bring your own lawn chairs and firewood if you plan to use it.

In all honesty, I had some trepidation when my husband and I booked a stargazer cabin because I'm usually a 4 star resort hotel person. Oh my goodness, the cabin exceeded my expectations! Perfect location being a mile out of Custer but feeling like a million miles away. The peace and tranquility was amazing. Mackenzie was awesome as well. This is now going to be our go to destination while visiting the Black Hills!

We stayed here a couple years ago and loved it so much we came back again. The Stargazers are awesome! All the charms of camping—cooking and eating outside, time around a campfire, and relaxing under the stars, but with the comforts of our own bathroom and a VERY comfortable, heated bed for those cool nights. Awesome place to stay. The location is very peaceful and very convenient to the surrounding hikes and attractions. It is only 7 minutes outside of Custer as well. I stayed in a Stargazer and after a long day, all you need is a shower and a comfy bed. Speaking of showers, the bathroom is private and very clean. The grounds are beautiful and have ample room to walk around. The resident animals (Mongo, goats, and my favorite, Tuffy), are very friendly and fun to be around. Lastly, but most importantly, McKenzie is awesome. She runs the place and is clearly a hard worker. She offered great food recommendations and made sure I was happy and comfortable during my stay.

I traveled up to Custer without a place to stay. A person at the airport recommended this B & B rather than the one I was considering. I made the reservation for an "A" frame stargazer without full knowledge of what it was. What a delight! I had to take a picture and it was shared with friends. They all were captivated by the concept. MacKenzie was helpful well beyond expectations. She runs a very clean, organized and attractive operation.
