We trusted their safety precautions and certification for covid safe weddings. We also loved the multistory venue and the incredible artists featured throughout the gallery. (원문) I was recently presented with opportunity to shoot a wedding ceremony at the Sunrise Amphitheater for an absolutely delightful couple, and having now finished delivering the final images to my clients and I've decided to take a moment and share some of the photos I took (with the couple's permission), share some pro advise on how to take pictures at this location, and talk about it's overall quality as a wedding ceremony venue from a photographer's perspective. I'll start with some photography notes and tips: - This is an absolutely STUNNING location and it is even more stunning in the morning. We'll just get that obvious observation right out of the way :-p. - There is VERY little shade to be found here, both on the stage and in the seating area! You may want to suggest that your guests bring sun hats. Hard lighting on human subjects has a reputation for being tricky to work with, but there are things you can do to ensure good photo quality that I'll post below. - Bring a variable Polarizer (CPL) AND a variable Neutral Density Filter (NDF) for each lens you plan on using. I DO NOT suggest you use both at the same time, but I did end up switching between filters as the lighting conditions changed and I was glad I did and that I had both filter sets with me! Both filters essentially act like sunglasses for your camera lens, and help to preserve luma and color data, albeit in different capacities. - Place a lens hood on your lens to avoid sunspots and solar flares in your image. Again, the sunlight here is VERY prevalent. Make sure that the lens hood you have can work in tandem with your CPL and NDF filters. - Bring a Speedlight for your camera! I wasn't always using mine, but the few shots I took while using one really benefitted from it. - For that matter, I strongly recommend bringing an off-camera, outdoor strobe with an attached softbox. AND sandbags to weigh it all down. I didn't need this when the wedding I covered did eventually get some cloud cover later on, but it would not have been possible to take good family portraits in the full-sun had I not had my outdoor strobe on hand during the first-half of my taking family portraits. - Because of the direct lighting you should expect to be pulling some details out of the shadows in post, so be sure to underexpose your images by a stop as it is easier to recover details out of the shadows than it is out of the highlights with most camera models. - Because you'll be pulling details out of the shadows in post, know that a camera with a 10-bit color space will perform much better in a wedding venue like this than a camera with a 8-bit color space. Ok, now on with the rest of my review! The Sunrise Amphitheater offers a million-dollar view and yet is a lesser known destination for many people that live in the Denver Metro AND it is quite affordable as far as wedding venues go. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that there was a ramp so that people with wheelchairs (or wagons for their camera gear as was my case :-p)could also enjoy the amphitheater. Restrooms are available, but are perhaps a 5 minute walk away from the amphitheater parking lot; so be sure to familiarize yourselves with those in advance so you can guide other members of your party accordingly. I really recommend this gorgeous and serene venue to other couples getting married and can't wait until I'm invited out to document another couple's special day at this beautiful location ^_^.
