A lot of our guests were from outside SA and we wanted the food to showcase South African hospitality and they got this spot on. From the cocktail hour to desert (malva pudding) it was perfect. A lot of the locals also said they enjoyed how it was homey and not pretentious in any way. 3)Ronelle did a great job with freestyling the decor on the tables. It looked classy and minimalistic. She also used the left over roses to make confetti which we initially had not planned to use but it made for lovely photos so I'm very happy that this was added. A few issues- 1) I ordered hand held parasols but on the day there weren't any for the guests because I had apparently asked these to be changed to big standing umbrellas. I had enquired if the decor company had standing umbrellas and this was interpreted as "cancel the parasols, and get standing umbrellas." Not the end of the world but not what I asked for, just poor communication as even if this was the understanding you would expect it to be communicated. 2)I ordered specific floral napkins but on the day there were plain napkins that still went with the color scheme. When I had tried to change the underplates with the same supplier (about 2 months in advance) I was told this wasn't possible but for some reason they could change something I had not requested. 3) I supplied stationery for the wedding which was never given to majority of guests- waste of my money/time/printing 4) I supplied a table seating chart which wasn't followed, guests spent a lot of time re-arranging themselves as the seating chart was on the stationery that I had printed that only a handful of them received. When I questioned this I was told the staff did the best they could as I had only put 4 table numbers. Please note I was at the venue from the previous evening so there was time to discuss these issues. 5) We bought a ton of mcc, red & white wine for guests and also had a bar tab. however during cocktail hour we realised that guests were being made to pay for wine despite there being plenty of wine already paid for by ourselves. Once again the young staff said this was what they had been told and the day of co-ordinator was nowhere to be found.
