We had an incredible tour and tasting at Benromach Distillery. It was a quick and easy train ride from Inverness, and located just a five minute walk away from the station.
Our tour guide was fun and informative. There is so much history here! Because it was off season we had a solo tour but that meant we had plenty of time for questions and pictures of this beautiful space.
Definitely try the gin too! It’s lovely!

Wandered in randomly on a Saturday afternoon. A warm greeting from the outset. Managed to get a tour for just the two of us as it was very quiet off season . Very friendly and personable and knowledgeable tour guide who's name I'm afraid escapes me (maybe due to the four exceptional whiskeys at the end . Skip the big distillery tours and come see how a proper local distillery does it.

Gehört einfach zu jedem Schottlandurlaub dazu - die Besichtigung einer Destille! Hier eine kleine, recht familiäre Variante. Wurden freundlich empfangen und obwohl wir nicht reserviert hatten, konnten wir teilnehmen. Der Guide war sehr freundlich und nahm Rücksicht auf die "non native speaker" und sprach langsam und deutlich ;-)... Es gab viele spannende Einblicke in die Geschichte der Destille und des Whisky´s. Im Asnchluss gab es noch eine Verkostung. Auch wenn Whisky nicht unser Getränk wird, hat es viel Spass gemacht (für Autofahrer gibt es "doggy bags" für die gereichten Proben - sehr gute Idee - nippen, und den Rest mitnehmen!

Free parking and then a woodland walk up to the Tower over some fairly steep paths. When you get there its a spiral staircase up to the top with some exhibition rooms off from that. Awesome views from the top as you'd expect!
Donation entry and it's an historic monument so don't expect cafes or toilets. It's also volunteer staffed so entry times are limited.

It’s a bit of a hike to the top if you struggle but once up it’s a breathtaking view! Beautiful historical Tower. You can still look around the exterior after it’s closed as we did. The only reason I didn’t give this a 5, is the ‘Nelsons Tower info’ is too high, had to take a picture on my phone to be able to read what it said.

Lovely walk through the trees to reach the tower. It is a bit if a steep climb but only about 10 mins, it is worth it though, the views from the top over to Findhorn and Culbin Forest are beautiful. Lots of seats along the way and at the top to relax and enjoy the view or have a picnic. Lots of little forest trails to explore.

I think it is brilliant that there is a memorial to Admiral Horatio Nelson here in Morayshire. It is quite a steep climb from the car park to the monument. Entrance is by donation. The monument is open from 2pm until 4pm April to September. It is run entirely by volunteers under The Forres Heritage Trust. It is 97 steps to the top of the tower via a spiral staircase, it is tight so it will not suit everyone. The views from the top are amazing and one of the volunteers kindly handed me binoculars for a better view. It is well worth coming to see this and it is good exercise climbing all these stairs.

We stopped at Grant Park, so the dog could have a run around. Detailed wooden statues at the parks front side. Huge green space. ‘Wee FIBbees’, which looks like a wildlife garden but didn’t enter as we had the dog. Great space to tire your dog out. I loved Grant Park. We sat in the FIBbees Garden just at the side of Grant Park. It was a beautiful spot to sit and eat out picnic, there are 2 or 3 picnics benches located inside the FIBbees garden. The gardens itself was absolutely beautiful and has lots of sensory stuff, like chimes, xylophone, spinning things, bug hotels and little animal houses that look like a wee village. The flowers were stunning and the volunteers that work there keep the garden beautiful. We visited in August so the flowers were gorgeous. Plenty of parking, toilets, ay area for the kids, short walk from Nelson tower, and a small takeaway coffee shop. Well worth a visit. A fab free day out

Always beautiful and kept in order 365 days a year. Grant park has a car park beside it and there are two beautiful little garden areas, the sunken garden and FIBbees Wee Forres in Bloom garden. Just gorgeous I always come here when I'm in Forres. Such a big park full of trees, wide open spaces and beautiful flower sculptures. We also found a little spot with a couple of ponds and fountains. It's a great place to spend the day and it seems to be a popular place for local events to be held. When we went there was a lovely pride celebration happening in the town and at the park there was music and all kinds of stalls set up. It was a lovely afternoon.

A bit of a time capsule and not in a good way. Visiting the distillery was a pretty eery and odd experience. The audio tour equipment is very old and hard to hear, and it's completely self guided. The distillery hasn't been active for a long time and while you can get up close to everything, there's not all that much information besides the method for making whisky. You finish the tour with a video which hasn't been updated since the early 90s at best with a comically green screened Roderick Dhu, and a taste of the similarly named whisky. It's a really average blended whisky - not disgusting but not the kind of whisky you want to taste if you're new to whisky or looking for anything special. Literally the only information we were given about the whisky sample was that you'd feel pretty drunk if you had enough of it. The staff were nice and if there was a better tour it could be good, but there are so many better tours out there. Try and find an active distillery with a tour run by a real person and you'll almost certainly have a much better time of it.

Beautifully preserved piece of history. Hard to get good images due to the sky’s reflection but don’t let this put you off visiting. Breathtaking to visit and fascinating to read about the history. Unsure about parking as I was already staying in a hotel opposite it, I’m sure we did see a car park located beside it. Definitely worth the visit if you get a chance.

This is one of Scotland's largest standing stones. However it is neither Neolithic nor Bronze Age but Pictish. One side is an evidently militaristic commemoration and on the other a knotwork Celtic cross. It is not known if the two sides were executed at the same time. What we can say is that the stone itself, is sandstone and seems to have been heavily eroded before it fell into peaty ground which preserved it as it is now. There are obvious Christian symbols on the stone and evidence og Ogham inscriptions indicating possible Gaelic influence. All in all an extremely important piece of Pictish history.

A bit of a hidden gem in Forres.
Attentive service, all staff very polite and professional, and willing to accommodate our requests.
We ordered a Bordeaux and clean glasses were carefully placed down in front of each of us, with opportunity for someone to taste the wine.
Food quality was excellent. I had the chicken schnitzel and there was a generous amount of chicken that was perfectly cooked and the mushroom sauce tasted fantastic.
A good selection of real ales on tap too.
I'll definitely be making a trip here again.

I found the Tavern while travelling through Forres, my dog and I are staying in the area and had a busy day, so I was looking for a dog friendly place to grab a bite to eat. Mosset Tavern turned out to be the perfect spot! They even have a wee dog menu with treats and bowls of food, how lovely 😍 my girl enjoyed her doggy fish and chips while I enjoyed my fish and chips, which was amazing as we walked and swam all day. Friendly and attentive bar staff made this place even better. We will definitely return when we're back at the Cairngorm National Park in the future x

The menu appears quite basic but the food you get is the ‘best version’ of whatever you ordered. This may seem gushing but, in all honesty, we were just talking about this yesterday and I forgot to do a review until Google prompted me today.
One small thing - the Korean Chicken, please make this a main course as it is too tasty for a starter 😀

Castle grounds and gardens are very nice and well kept. Great place for photos. In spring it would be fantastic with a huge selection of Daffodils.
We stayed in the Garden house for 5 days and was absolutely great. Super quiet well furnished historic 2 story house. Huge living room with private garden and full dining room. 2 upstairs bedrooms up a steep set of nicely carpeted steps. Full kitchen as well.

We went here for the play gardens and found out there's a soft play for the really little ones.
The play gardens are lovely and well kept as you would expect. We spent about an hour going round and having fun, though there wasn't as many activities as I'd been led to believe.
However I was surprised to be told the cafe has a soft play (for children under 110cm in height). When we went in it's really aimed at under 5s I'd say. It was perfect for my little one. She enjoyed this more than the play gardens.
I should add that wherever I read the info for the gardens made it out to be free. While you don't pay as such to get in, the amount you pay when parking depends on what area of the estate you are visiting. If you wish to visit the castle grounds (which includes the play gardens) it's £5 for the day (per car). Adding the castle costs a little extra.
Note: it's free for those with National Trust memberships.
I had no issues paying this, but it came a little unexpected and thought I should mention it here in case it was important to someone else.
Something to mention is that the staff who we came into contact at various points were all very polite, friendly and welcoming and offered guidance and assistance where needed.

We visited Brodie Castle this Sunday and had an amazing time! It’s dog-friendly, which is a huge bonus — we were able to enjoy the day with our 10-year-old Lab.
The gardens were truly inspirational. I especially loved the extended meadow areas and the large vegetable garden with an orchard. All of the play areas were well-kept, clean, and safe. There’s something for all ages — from 8 to 45!
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Access to the gardens and play areas is free, and we only paid £5 for parking, which is a small price considering the number of attractions on offer.
Highly recommended, especially in good weather! We’ll definitely be back!

A lovely historic building that was brought to life as a former family home by the knowledge and enthusiasm of our charismatic tour guide. Good facilities including two small and reasonably priced cafés (lunch of soup, oatcakes, cake and pot of tea cost about £10.40). We really like Brodie Castle. Our tour guide was new, but exceptional and she really added to our experience. The outside had some beautiful walking trails and we loved the huge beech tree. There were no formal gardens, but the children’s garden was so creative and really well done. If you have children, I’d highly recommend a stop here. Children and adults enjoyed the play garden especially the musical areas. The big bunny was great to see. Lovely stop during our trip to the Highlands. Our kids loved the large outdoor playground and the soft play next to the cafe. If you go during Spring, you will see one of the largest collections of daffodils in Scotland. We also got tickets to go in the castle for a guided tour, free as we are National Trust of Scotland members. Great woodland walk to the pond to see the swans too!

Came from Edinburgh last year and it was a nice course, great condition and nice staff with food at reasonable prices. Returned this year and all of the above rang true. However, the course was parched due to the dry summer which made it even BETTER. We played in the mixed greensomes and the course played fast, but the greens were lush, true, and in fabulous condition. We will return.

A really interesting well laid out course. Not long, but every hole is different and 0they all have fair challenges. Decent tee shots set up good birdie chances but wayward ones, whilst you tend to find your ball, cost a couple of shots . The fairways and greens are in great condition. The pro shop team couldn't be more friendly or accommodating and the members we came across were just the same. Forres is completely non pretentious fantastic value and an absolute pleasure to play. If you are in the area do yourself a favour book a tee and play. Highly recommended.

Logie steading was a nice wee place, it has a lovely cafe with seating indoors and out, lovely shops with handmade goods, art, jewellery, clothing. There is also a small museum which was very interesting. There is plenty of parking and they even have parking in the shade if you have your dog in the car which I thought was good. Logie is just incredibly calming. A haven in this crazy world. Highlights for me are the garden, which is beautiful, the walks along the river, and sitting outside in the courtyard on a sunny day just listening to the birds....with a cuppa and a delicious cake or scone! The cafe offers good quality food. Is isn't cheap, but everything I've had, has been lovely. I've seen the craft workshops change over the years and the selection is not as varied as it once was but it's still nice to drop by and see what's new. All in all, Logie Steading is a perfect place to spend a few hours. It's family owned and has seen 6 generations living there. It's obviously a cherished family home and I believe you can feel the family's love for the place in how beautiful it is maintained. Yes, it's a business too....but to me, that always feels secondary. I adore Logie Steading and visit whenever I'm in Moray. Well worth the short trip from the Moray coast.

This is a great place to visit for walking, eating and shopping. We had a lovely walk along the River Findhorn to Randolph's Leap, with spectacular views. Afterwards we enjoyed a tasty lunch in the cafe. There is a fabulous bookshop here, where we spent quite a lot of time browsing through the secondhand books.

Visited this for the first time. What a pleasant surprise. Very neatly kept grounds and gardens. Good selection of retail outlets. Spent quite a while in the book shop. Cafe was busy with good food. We bought a number of unusual plants at the garden centre. We then visited the beautiful gardens. Then it was back to plant centre to purchase more plants. What a wonderful place! The staff are so knowledgeable and helpful and it is so good to be able to climb in to the many cockpits and aircraft on display. I grew up when these aircraft were in service, which was an added bonus.

Lots of interesting exhibits and aircraft, as well as a fun planetarium, but what really stands out is the enthusiasm of the volunteers.
We actually ran out of time to getvround everything, as we spent so long talking to the volunteers, each of whom had great stories to tell.

We took our young grandsons for a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The boys loved it because you can actually get inside some of the aircraft and can meet some very knowledgeable gentleman who actually flew some of the jets. It is in my opinion a wee gem of a place. It was a surprisingly good experience to visit this wee gem in the Highlands. They have quite a large aviation collection and the staff are super friendly and happy to share their broad knowledge and interesting stories. The best bit is that you can actually get into most planes and helicopters and have a shot of being in the pilots seat.

This is a fantastic hidden gem of the Highlands and should be publicised more.
I was stunned by the amount of rare aircraft they had in their collection, especially the Valiant, which got to climb inside( this was the highlight of my visit).
The volunteers were excellent, and all my questions were answered. They really do know their stuff.

Unfortunately l was very disappointed when we visited today and had lunchat the cafe. The glasses provided for our drink were dirty and had to be changed the Lentil and Bacon soup didn't had any trace of Bacon. Thought l did notice became Sold Out just after I'd got mine. I choose the Cajun chicken sandwiches but again was very disappointed as it was just a paste with a few strands of chicken. The cafe used to work much better when you queued and didn't have to wait and be shown to a table. You could also see what you were getting then and was also tempted by the cakes and scones. Good local boozer. Great selection of craft beers, probably too many to try in one sitting. Usually has a pretty good atmosphere. Would recommend this place to any tourist thinking of going in here. There are two bars split in half by a corridor. The bar (and restaurant) in the left hand side is more chilled out so you can opt for a bit of peace and a chat or a bit of music and banter in the other bar.

Went in for a quick drink to warm up on a cold December day. The pub is 18th century in origin and has two distinct sides. We did not go into the bar so cannot comment on this area. We headed for the lounge/restaurant which was extreme well decorated and very inviting. We sat in two very comfortable chairs in front of a stove fire. We did not eat so cannot comment on the food. The staff were very professional and friendly. If you are in the area definitely worth a visit.

Irene gave me an excellent tour of the Tolbooth giving me an insight into the dark side of Forres many years ago .
Each room had been creatively displayed with just enough information for a passing visitor to absorb but for one perhaps researching Forres history there is a wealth of detail available .
The highlight of the tour was the ascent ( with sturdy handrails) to the clock tower allowing a 360degree panoramic view of Forres . My guide was able to point out some of the original buildings on the High Street below and beyond to Cluny Hill and Findhorn Bay .
Congratulations to Forres Heritage Society on their splendid effort in revitalising a valuable piece of the town’s history .

Bit of a random location. I’d put this in to Google Maps while walking and was surprised to end up at the side of the road. Nevertheless, this is definitely worth parking at Grant Park, which is a 2 minute walk from the stone. It’s worth the visit and the history. Makes you realise how far we’ve come since such times.

This is an absolute gem of a beach, with beautiful sand. At the western end, the beach is bounded by the swift flowing Findhorn river, we didn't go all the way to the eastern end.
There were a few families and dog walkers on the beach when we were there, but judging by the brightly coloured beach huts, it can be a busy place.
There were seals across the Findhorn river and on an offshore sandbank, but none on the actual beach.
We parked at the beach car park, which is small but provides clean toilets and picnic benches.

Absolutely a not so hidden treasure. I’ve walked past so often but the fantastic sign “don’t miss the exciting underground icehouse’ had me hooked (no pun intended! A friendly welcome from the volunteer on duty and in I went. It’s a lot larger than I expected. I’ve seen a few icehouses in my time but this is vast ♥️ it has been beautifully preserved and it has info boards that take you on a journey of the history of salmon fishing, and ice houses in Scotland. 🏴 I knew a lot of ice houses had their own pond to generate ice but I had no idea that the river Findhorn used to be the source of the ice for this ice house. Before global warming and our changing climate ice used to pile up on the shore front each winter and could easily be used for the ice house. Even as recently as 2009 they had chunks of ice on the beach. Maybe not to the degree of way back in the day but still!!!!! Definitely worth a visit. Don’t walk by walk in! ❤️

We were here for at least 2 hours and I would have stayed longer, there's so much to see for a fan of mechanical, clockwork and kinetic toys and models. Absolutely mesmerizing. Not been here for many years but a friend of ours had some paintings she was exhibiting along with other artists so we thought we'd have a look. The place is well lit and gives the art work good opportunities to be displayed. It's obviously a working studio and not like an Art Gallery per se as can be seen by the artists studios off from the main area. A trail that follows an old rail track. The ground is mostly dirt track, with a mix of rail track stones in places. As you get towards Forres, the track is paved.
Took me about 7 hours in total to walk the whole way from Grantown-on-Spey and ended my walk at Grant Park in Forres.
Beautiful views through moors at the start before entering a wooded area towards the end of the trail.
The trail is well marked throughout the walk.
As you venture through the moor area and it's sunny, make sure you pack sun screen as there isn't much opportunity for shade.

Most of this route appears to be easy walking even with 2 inch of snow and low light you can easily find your way with all the relevant signposts along the way. We jumped into the walk along the way. However the rout starts from Grantown- on- Spay and finishes in Forres ( 24 miles ). It took me 7 hours to get through. The Dava Way passes through the open area, farmlands, woodlands and moorland. We started at the bird hide which is point 5 along the nature reserve trail and observed some men digging for razor clams but other than a few large swans, we didn't see much as the tide was out. I'm sure this area is absolutely bustling when the tide is in and the wading birds are much nearer - we could see plenty of them in the distance. We then drove to the beach and walked into the village viewing the harbour and marina areas. As it was a beautiful day, the shorefront eateries were busy and it was nice to see people enjoying the great weather with a drink. There were various boats out in the water, people in canoes and on paddeboards. The local boat club was also in action. We were going to visit the Ice House museum but they don't open until 2pm so we were too early and we were heading to Roseisle so couldn't wait another hour. I'll definitely come back another day as the beach was lovely and I want another chance to see the wildlife
