It was a fantastic experience. It's a bit pricey, but when you consider the amount of animals they take care of, you get it. It was $82 just for my child and I to get in, to give you a perspective. I loved the Beluga whales, the seal show was adorable and the indoor gallery area was a fun experience. The keepers located throughout were very informative and gladly answered any and all questions. I highly recommend this aquarium.

Fantastic experience at the Mystic Aquarium. It is a lot smaller than I expected and the majority of the exhibitions are outdoors so thankfully, we choose the perfect sunny day to visit. Our highlights were seeing the Beluga whales swimming about outside and seeing the sea turtle inside. We also loved that they had a Del's Lemonade stand by the gift shop. A lovely little treat on our way out. Definitely a fantastic experience with the family.
Now for my standard comments. Parking is plentiful out front and free. Location is well kept and clean. Very comfortable walking outside assuming the weather is good. Indoor exhibits never got too crazy, at least during the time that we were there.

Where do I begin, this Aquarium is the best I've been to. The staff are all so friendly, and care so much about each and every animal in the facility. They have staff stationed at the enclosures in case you have any questions on a particular animal or exhibit, and they are so knowlegable. The Beluga whales are so cool, and almost seem like they interact with anyone who's at the glass and seeing everything they do for them is a bonus! The Main gallery has so many different tanks with all kinds of aquatic life and detailed plaques on each one, with any information you might want to know about a specific species. They even have not one.. but two touch tanks! This Aquarium is the perfect spot for a family day trip, the staff at the touch tanks were so friendly making sure any kid that wanted to participate was allowed the opportunity to do so and the layout was so cool to walk through. The pricing is extremely fair for what you get to do and see. The photo you they take when you enter of you and your family is 100% worth the 35 dollars to have it as a memento. Parking is a breeze and highway access is easy as well. I would give this aquarium 6 stars if I could, and my family and myself cannot wait to go back!

Sad to say we feel like it wasn't what we were expecting.The tour of the whole place took us under an hour.And it was fifty one dollars per person. We do understand it's a research facility. But I think they should update their exhibits. And maybe offer a few more attractions without the extra cost. I had my first virtual reality experience, it was pretty cool. But it was at a $9 extra fee per person. The beluga whales are cool, and so are the african penguins.And the sea lion seals, but I feel like those are the only three real attractions that they had.

This aquarium is so nice, not too big to navigate and the staff is really super friendly. I only gave 4 stars because we went during the start of the NorEaster last weekend and it was not enjoyable for my kids, unfortunately.
I must add that the food at their cafe was very good - was impressed with the quality, actually. Better weather def would have made for a better experience, but a nice place to go with the fam for sure!

Mystic Aquarium is an excellent spot for children, especially between the ages of 4 and early teens. The exhibits are engaging, and the attractions they do have are very well done. The sea lion show is free, fun, and worth planning around—just make sure to check the schedule ahead of time. Since it’s outdoors, you’ll also want to be mindful of the weather.
While I was a little disappointed with the overall size of the aquarium, what’s here is high quality. Be prepared though—most extras cost money, so definitely bring your wallet. With more funding and awareness, this place has the potential to grow into an even larger attraction. Overall, it’s still a great family experience and well worth a visit.

A must-stop while visiting Mystic! I was completely surprised by how good this experience was. The museum is very kid-friendly and perfect for families. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes — it’s definitely a minimum 3-hour tour with so much to see and do.
I highly recommend staying with the guides, as they make the history come alive and really enhance the experience. An unforgettable stop that I’ll be telling others about!

With something for everyone, Mystic Seaport Museum is a must-do vacation stop. One can see skill craftspersons in the process of restoring historic sea craft or recreating life in a seaside town in the early 1800s. Great for the whole family. We had an incredible day with family at Mystic Seaport Museum and honestly did almost everything there was to do. The whole place is such a vibe, full of history, craftsmanship, and surprises around every corner. One of the highlights was catching the fireboat with its hoses on full blast—something we learned doesn’t happen very often. We watched the blacksmith at work, explored the cooperage, wandered through the historic ships, and soaked in the magic of this living museum by the water. We spent way more time there than planned and still didn’t see it all. Mystic Seaport is truly one of those places that keeps you discovering more at every turn.

We (2 adults) visited on a very hot day at the beginning of the summer. I absolutely loved the feel of walking around a replica of a 19th-century fishing village. There were so many storefronts to check out and the ships were beautiful, too. This is a gem of a place and we are fortunate to have it continuing to operate after nearly a century.
There was an incredible exhibit in the gallery while we were there. I truly appreciated becoming more informed about the experience of African-Americans from a 21st-century perspective.
It was hot enough that day that we unfortunately didn't get to explore as much as I wanted. This is definitely a place I would love to return to, perhaps on a fall weekend.

“Mystic Museum of Art” - this place is wonderful. Just further up from Sift Bakery store. Online it says it’s free, it’s not you have to pay $10 to enter (admission fee). I’d say it’s worth it. I had a wonderful time when I visited here. There is outdoor parking, the parking monitor person very chatty. I walked in. You have the beautiful river views of Mystic River and the Mystic River Bascule Bridge from the outside. I sat there outdoors in the sun sketching. The museum doesn’t open till 11:00am. (Don’t come too early, like I did.) If you’re an art enthusiast, you will love this. I was so excited to see cubism and fauvism paintings by famous artists in the flesh. It’s nice and quiet, you can admire the stories behind the paintings. Many floors. I loved the red, yellow, blue room where you can add your own paper sculpture. It’s just so cool. Its a small sometimes free museum. There is a ticket price depending on certain exhibits. Right now its free at least until April 20th. The museum is pretty cool and worth the visit. Parking is 10 bucks but the parking lot is a two minute walk into downtown Mistic so definitely worth it. Also a two minute walk to the popular sift bakery!

This is such a pretty art gallery that is free to the public, unless you park your car in the parking area, then you have to pay a small fee. It doesn't really have a feel of a "museum" since a lot of the pieces are for sale. There are however several pieces that are permanent (NFS) and some that are on loan. A staff member who was very friendly and helpful said that the gallery changes the exhibit every six months. My favorite piece was the polar bear sculpture and that unfortunately is one of the permanent pieces in the gallery. I would come here again in the future to see what other kind of art is put on display.

First, scale: This is a pint-sized museum; think less the Louvre and more your aunt's house ... if your aunt had a gorgeous ocean-front property and filled it with tasteful, thoughtfully curated art. When I visited, the whole place was given over to a special exhibit with the Mashantucket Pequot Nation highlighting Indigenous history and artwork including wampum, a dugout canoe, a display of old maps, and more. I found it fascinating and the staff person friendly and welcoming.

Very nice museum that offers a good collection of art from various artists. I enjoyed the room in the back that allowed you to create art of your own (and the view from the window was great). The gift shop has some cool things for you to grab as souvenirs.
I wish there was more to look at though. Also the staff was very much huddled in the office most of the time, would've been nice if they could've come out to engage, but maybe that's just me.
Definitely recommend and would be open to going back.

My wife and I visited here while on vacation. This place was awesome. The numerous trails are beautiful and well kept. They have a number of resident animals all of whom are stunning. All of the residents are well taken care of and, while they cannot be released due to permanent injury, help with their education programs. Great place to support, donated in addition to the entry fee. Well worth it to be able to get that close to so amazing animals such as their two resident Great Horned Owls. If you are in the area, check out this Nature Center and help support them and their work.

There is so much to see and do here! We easily spent a couple hours here while visiting Mystic on a chilly day. There are a lot of exhibits for kids to interact with indoors, a listening room that tells the story of nighttime and helps kids learn about different animal sounds, live turtles, a snake, and frogs, all inside. Everything is very educational and well-thought out. Outside there are some gorgeous birds that have disabilities, so they are living their best lives here. There are beautiful walking trails with ponds and creeks, giant boulders, and a beautiful meadow. The staff is very helpful and friendly. This place is affordable and definitely worth a visit!

Wow! We saw no other guests and wandered all over. Lovely animals and interactive displays inside, a few raptors outside. The 4 yr old loved the bunny hopping freely inside. They honor blue star families, but regular admission is $8 for adults, less for kids.
Picnic area at entry, inside, and benches scattered along paths. You could managed a wheeled chair, but some paths are heavily root-filled.
Board walks, swamps, ponds, forest...we have to go back when the kids can walk longer on a hot hot day.
Mosquitoes can be pesky. Loved it!

We love visiting here! Many interactive exhibits which educate visitors about wildlife and habitats in Connecticut. They've added an Early Childhood learning room, perfect for littles! We saw lots of frogs, fish and turtles in the pond outside. Hiking trails are easy, especially the ones around the pond. The trails connect with the trails at Coogan Farm. The Farm Trail was quite overgrown. Be mindful of poison ivy as well as ticks.

Such a wonderful and relaxing cruise. The crew is top notch and really knows their history on landmarks along the way. The only thing that I just want to share...when picking your seats, if you pick A5 or A6 it looks like on the seating chart that you have a space between. This was a real treat! My husband and I booked a sunset sail. The group is small and the ship is easily accessible; we had a few people on board with disabilities and they had no problem, there's parking nearby and just a short walk down the dock and the gangway to the schooner. The captain and crew were friendly, well-informed, and honestly very impressive! We got a mix of fun local history and time to mingle with other passengers. We did the sunset cruise, so there were some drunk people on board. We discovered the Argia walking across the famous Mystic Drawbridge. Information for ticket purchases and sailings were priminently displayed. We were able to purchase tickets for that day's sailing. The sailing was full; however I really appreciated the organization and the booking process which gave us the opportunity to choose our seats. The crew were excellent. We had a succinct safety talk and narration along the way- which consisted of a motored tour of the Mystic River and a sail near Fishers Island. Lemonade was complimentary. Bring a jacket and sunscreen.

I had taken the sunset cruise with family and it was a fantastic time! The crew were very knowledgeable about the area and gave little facts and fun information about some of the islands. It was great being out on the water and the sights were just incredible! I’ve come to Mystic ever since I was a little kid. And one of my favorite things to see was the bridge. Watching it go up and down is so cool! We came here on a Friday night for the Christmas showing. I touched a sting ray but my daughter (7yrs old) couldn't reach that far down so a little disappointing but fun.
It was freezing cold and most exhibits were outside in the dark so it was difficult to see the beluga and sea lions.

Mystic Seaport was very educational. We boarded the Morgan Ship, it was very interesting seeing and hearing the stories of how many people were on the ship and how hard life used to be for all of our ancestors.
What life was like back then was hard compared to the technology we have today. I can see how people took so much pride in their jobs and we should all remember the sacrifices and the hard work they put into making their lives livable in a way most of us will never understand. A great place to put your self into perspective with how we can take our lifestyles; rich or poor and in between we have a much easier way of life.
The Volunteers were awesome and did a great job Above and beyond. Rich in the Coopers area was sweating to death in the coopers studio with only a fan but gave a great presentation and was very impressed by him and all the Volunteers we encountered.
Also learned a lot in the general store. I’m a lover of antiques so I knew what a lot of the things in their we’re used for so it was cool to see my love of antiques has taught me a smidge about how things ran.

I stayed at Denison house the weekend of Nov 5 2021 with my family. We never experienced such a warm and and inviting feeling when we walked into the beautiful Denison House. The way the house is decorated is amazing and also extremely clean. It’s so relaxing there, no matter which room you choose to sit in.
The beds were the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in.
The hosts thought of everything from raining day games to sunny day picnic baskets.
We were fortunate enough to have a gorgeous weekend.
Going to Clydes Cider mill was a fun outing and it’s very close to the inn. We also made our way to the shops in the village, that’s always a treat.
Every time we went out to do something, we all had the same feeling and that was we wanted to get back to the Denison Home that made us all feel so relaxed and cozy.
If I can manage to get my family together again for a weekend, we will be going back there.

It’s in front of a Y center and I think you need a membership in theory but we spent 2 hours there during our road trip and nobody bothered us. The beach is rocky (lots of pebbles as you approach the water) and it's not beautiful, in the way you want a beach to be. Having said that, it's a perfect, local beach to bring the kids if you live close. It was in walking distance from where we were staying - so it was awesome to walk to instead of driving to other beaches.
Other positives: there is a playground right there, a baseball field and a YMCA (if you're a member). So, bring the family, get a workout and swim in and then hit the playground.

Perfect place for young kids. I took my kids here last week and they were so happy and already swimming in May. The water was so warm. They have a park and playground here as well, and a port a potty near by just in case! Close parking. The parking lot is located at the community center that has lots of amenities such as an indoor basketball court, indoor pool, fitness equipment, lockers and showers. The "beach" itself is a small area, the sand is not ideal for castles because the consistency is more like mud. The water is very rocky so precaution needs to be taken when walking in the water, water shoes are ideal. There are bigger rocks as well and the water is a bit murky so can be hard to be seen.

What a cool store. LOTS of tees to choose from and all good quality. I visit Mystic annual while on a business trip in a nearby location. This is now one of regular “go-to” locations. The service is tops as well (come to find out the guy at the counter has family in Charlotte where I’m from). I bought a few shirts for friends and myself and just so pleased with this purchase. I purchased a $60 teal sweatshirt and after wearing it for just five minutes, the dye transferred heavily onto my hands and clothes, turning them teal green. When I returned to the store, I found that all of the other sweatshirts in that style had the same issue. Just left store. We bought a hat and seconds after purchasing realized it was a children’s hat, still in the store and they ( the manager) would not refund! There was not the same style of hat in an adult style. She says we can only get a store credit. Unbelievable. Are you that desperate for sales!? They forgot their sign that they hate children. Went in with our 3 kids. I think we spent 4 minutes total in there. Admittedly our preschooler picked up some small shot glass tumbler. An over priced useless item for $14. Because he put the straw in his mouth they laughed and said we have to buy it. I get that is not clean. But do we think his mouth was any dirtier than the hands of any of the many people who have previously touched it? My husband handed over his credit card and they laughed again- “you’ll have to make him work for this, AHAHAHA”. It felt quite demeaning. It’s one thing to demand payment for a damaged item (this was hardly damaged), but it’s another thing to laugh at the customer. We were not laughing. Just wanna shine a little love on Mystic Knotwork, I happen to be out in the area this morning and poked into the shop down by Main Street, the place is packed full of New England Quintessential summer knot bracelets, coasters, door holders, a Fun hearted spot no doubt. My wife and I also enjoyed viewing the boats that were traveling up and down the river as well as seeing the upward and downward movements of the iconic Mystic River Bascule Bridge.
The Mystic River Park is also used for hosting concerts and musical performances, contains an ice cream and candy shop, and is closely located to Mystic’s shopping district and many other popular attractions.

My nephew was visiting from Mexico, and I took him to Mystic to share a truly New England experience. As we were walking through town, and browsing the local shops, we came across the Trove. Upon entering the store, we were greeted warmly and enthusiastically. One of the women working there noticed that I had an unlit cigar in my hand. Quickly she said "I know exactly what you need". She led me to a set of very nice rocks glasses that had a cut-out to hold my cigar. We promptly purchased the glasses, and used them that evening with our cigars. I'm not sure if it was the glasses that made my bourbon taste better or if it was just the culmination of a wonderful day. Either way, thank you. I will remember that day fondly each time I use this glass. I highly suggest you visit this store if you are in Mystic, CT. Thanks again for making an already wonderful day, that much better

Went here a on a trip to Mystic a few months ago with my husband and infant to look for a present to bring home to my brother whose birthday was approaching. My husband was bombarded by a lady (thin, with short hair and a hat--my husband said she smelled of cigarettes and alcohol) who insisted he buy a baby bag... She gave him a 10-minute demonstration of its functionality, even though we never displayed any interest in it. She didn't even ask us what we were in there looking for before also trying to sell him on a book about parenting. He was definitely non-verbally expressing disinterest in being sold anything, but she kept pushing. Not sure if she was the owner, but she certainly acted like she owned the place. When she went back to working on whatever she was doing behind the counter, it seemed like she was being kind of rude to her coworker, which was very off-putting. We ended up finding something we liked, but I decided against getting it because I didn't want to have to have any more contact with her. It was a neat place, and they had a great selection, but I think that a shop is only as good as its employees, and I did not want to give a woman like that my business.

This was a pretty cool store to run into when we were walking around downtown mystic last weekend. They have some cool unique items geared towards the gents. I'll start by saying that this store is lovely and I love everything they have here. We love going to this store when we're in town however this experience was different. Usually we're greeted and then left alone to shop. One employee kept following around every customer and started explaining what every single item picked up was, where it was from, what it was made from etc. even if they didn't ask about it. It was just too much. We ended up leaving quicker than we liked because we just wanted to avoid this person and get out of there.

The “Sabino Steamboat” is beautiful historic vessel and an absolute must see attraction when visiting Mystic, Connecticut.
When celebrating my wife’s birthday in September of 2024, I brought and treated her and myself for a guided two hour tour of the Mystic River aboard the “Sabino.”
Owned and operated by the Mystic Seaport Aquarium, the “Sabino Steamboat” is open for passengers to sail and tour on the Mystic River from early spring to the late fall each year.
During our guided tour, the ship’s crew provided a wonderful overview of the Sabino’s history. We learned that the ship was fully built and opened in 1908 by ship builder, W. Irving Adams, and that it began its journey as a small, wooden coal fired steamboat. The ship’s crew also pointed out that it primarily was used to ferry passengers, most notably passengers from Portland, Maine to the Casco Bay Islands during the 1920’s, and was later used to operate daytime and nighttime jazz cruises in the Merrimack River.
During the mid 1970’s, the Sabino would begin its connection with the Mystic Seaport Museum.
The ship would first get leased to the museum to be featured as an attraction to the museum’s patrons. Due to its popularity, the Sabino would get acquired by the museum, receive a complete makeover, and has been used as historic exhibit offering rides on the Mystic River to visitors.
In addition to discussing the Sabino’s history, the crew pointed out that the ship now operates with a diesel electric engine, but that it could still run on steam from time to time.
Due to its unique design, its rich navigation history and its status as one of last steamships of its kind, the Sabino is listed on the National Register Of Historic Places and has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.
What my wife and I loved about our tour on the Sabino was that it provided a very comfortable and smooth sailing experience, and we were able to take pictures and enjoy breathtaking views of local lighthouses, waterways, gorgeous yachts and of course the Mystic River. The ship’s crew also did a great job on pointing out many of Mystic’s notable places of interest such as the
Mystic Drawbridge, Fisher’s Island, and North Dumpling Island, which is owned by Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway.
Both my wife and I would love to thank the Mystic Seaport Museum for their efforts on preserving the Sabino, and for providing us with a wonderful guided sea tour of the Mystic River on this historic ship. We highly recommend that everyone take a moment to visit, view, and travel on this outstanding vessel!!!

A bit disappointing. Was expecting a lot more. Spent most of the time waiting for a bridge to open for us followed by waiting for another bridge, and then the same thing in reverse on the way back. Didn't leave the river, no narration information about what we were seeing. Nice to be on aboat, but pricey for not much.

We took the 2hour downriver cruise. It was lovely. We had great weather, the crew was super nice and the ride was smooth. Captain Liz was so sweet to us and we got a good dinner recommendation!
