Geologic Formations
Pedra Furada is a stunning arch-shaped rock formation located on the beach, offering picturesque photo opportunities with the backdrop of crashing blue waves. Accessible via various paths, including a mix of sand and grass trails, reaching the site involves an approximately one-hour walk with some moderate to steep sections. Visitors can also opt for horse-drawn carriages for transportation. The trek offers breathtaking views along the way, making it a rewarding experience.
Breathtaking view! The trail is also full of wonderful views! There are a lot of lizards on the way there that made the trail even more exciting and interesting through observing the local fauna.
VIORICA S — Google review
Beautiful the hole in the middle of the sunset does a whole game of light which must be experienced, prepare your self for a long walk.
Gabriele F — Google review
Nice spot to relax and enjoy the beach! Best to visit in the late afternoon to enjoy the sunset through the rocks.
Thomas F — Google review
Its an hour walk back and forth with a comfortable pace from the center. I left early in the morning at 06.30 i found this to be very rewarding cos it wasn't hot and there wasn't a lot of people there at that time of the day. the walk offers you a view of a different kind of vegetation - more green which means you get to see some cows and donkeys on the way. Its a cool tour to do whilst in Jeri
Liesel81 — Google review
Nice view with a very colourful rocks background. Also, from the villa, it's a nice 30-minute hiking.
Tony R — Google review
The most beautiful part is the trekking alongside the beaches through the hills. The rock itself is just a rock with a big hole in the middle.
Nicolás T — Google review
A little bit of a walk but it’s good exercise and the view along the way makes every minute of it worth it! Make sure to budget a few extra minutes if you want a picture before the sunset - there’s a bit of a line for the photo.
Jaques C — Google review
Beautiful spot for a nice picture... the walking from the village via ocean shore is fantastic, but you really need to time it... otherwise the tide rises and you can get caught up.. it can be dangerous...

3Jericoacoara Lighthouse

Mentioned on
2 lists
Jericoacoara Lighthouse is a short 5-minute walk from Pedra Furada, accessible via a moderate trail. It's recommended to bring water and wear appropriate footwear as there are no facilities along the way. The lighthouse offers an incredible view and is a great spot to witness the sunrise. The trail takes about 25 minutes to walk, but the breathtaking scenery makes it well worth the effort.
(Translated by Google) Incredible view, great spot to watch the sunrise. It took us approximately 25 minutes to walk the trail to the lighthouse.
Samira P — Google review
(Translated by Google) The same trail that leads to Pedra Furada also provides access to the lighthouse. We chose to watch the sunset, and the experience was spectacular, with the sea on one side and the dunes on the other. You can see Preá beach from this spot. We noticed that there's little interest in this view; people prefer to go to Pedra Furada, which, in my opinion, is more difficult to access. It's a hike of about 40 to 50 minutes, starting from Jeri's main beach, with the last stretch being a bit steep. A peaceful place, with very few people, with a wonderful view. Jericoacoara has unforgettable landscapes. It's worth the hike. Vale a caminhada.

Luiz S — Google review
(Translated by Google) It's a 30-minute hike with a very gentle incline. It's very low-intensity, suitable for anyone with limited mobility. Upon arrival, you have a panoramic view of Jeri, and you can even see Prea and Jijoca in the distance. The lighthouse itself doesn't say much at all... You can then take a shortcut to the Pedra Furada trail and descend without any problem. The descent and ascent are a little more intense but also suitable for everyone.
Maxi A — Google review
(Translated by Google) For those who like to see landscapes, it is a wonderful place! But the lighthouse itself doesn't have much to see. It's just this concrete structure. We couldn't go up to the lighthouse, so it left us wanting a little. Serrote de Jericoacoara is a must-visit rock formation in the park, offering stunning panoramic views of the city, dunes, and ocean. The highest point hosts a lighthouse standing at 95 meters in height. A stone path leads to breathtaking 360-degree views and serves as a route to other tourist attractions like Pedra Furada. Visitors can also enjoy incredible sunrise views from this beautiful spot, making it one of the favorite tourist destinations in Jericoacoara.
(Translated by Google) If you are looking for the best place in Jeri to watch the sunset, come to Serrote! Most tourists go to the dune near the beach, so Serrote was practically empty in the late afternoon. There are no signs indicating its peak, but just follow the main avenue of Jeri until the beginning of the trail to Pedra Furada, and always keep to the left and you will see a path that will take you to the top. There are even stones on the ground marking the way. I recommend bringing a towel to sit on if you're going to watch the sunset as there are no benches and the grass is very dry.

Dune Sunset Jericoacoara is a popular spot where hundreds of people gather every evening to witness the breathtaking sunset over the ocean. Tourists and locals alike climb this flat-topped sand dune just before sunset, eagerly anticipating the stunning natural display. The pleasant climate year-round makes it an ideal location for enjoying this daily spectacle. After the sun disappears behind the sea, visitors often applaud before returning to Jericoacoara village to continue their evening activities.
An absolute must for every visitor to jeri. it is a breathtaking experience to be on the dunes at sunset. Highly Recommended
Sebastian D — Google review
Sunset is beautiful but because the wind, the sand crash on you and is kind of painful, also for your eyes! From the beach the sunset is also beautiful and the after sunset, that is always better ☀️
Maria C — Google review
Really a must-see/do event while here. First, Duna Por do Sol (Sunset Dune) is so close to the town; second, if the sun is out, you will be in the company of hundreds of others who climb this gently sloping dune for a chance to take some spectacular sunset photos. There are people selling drinks up and down the dune, so you can make a small party out of the event.
Edward D — Google review
Too crowded, there are other places on the coast to enjoy the sunset with less people. But in general, it's beautiful!

Best hostel in Brazil. The owners are a supersweet couple. The hostel was always superclean, and I loved the breakfast! There is really nothing to complain about this hostel, I stayed 2 weeks there and it felt like home! Also the vibe is very chilled. ❤ Danke!

Staff is super friendly and helpful. Rolf and Marianna at the reception are very helpful and have a lot of patience for all your questions ! It is by far the best hostel to meet people especially during low season . Close to the beach and centre - must go !

Very nice hostel. Probably the best place in Jeri to meet other people and socialize. They have caipirinha nights for 23 real (all you can drink) and hot dogs included. Piscina Natural Ananias is a natural pool formed during the wet season, located within Jericoacoara Park. It requires a good walk to reach and the pools are quite small. The sea in the area is generally rough, making it unsuitable for swimming. However, visitors can enjoy the variety of shells and take beautiful photographs. This natural pool is often described as a private oasis and offers a unique experience amidst its picturesque surroundings.
Top!!😍😍😍

It is a nice place to walk around from the town. When we went, the water wasn't that clear and the pool looked a bit muddy. There is one biggish size pool and lots of small ones. Some of the pools have small fish, so it is fun to kind of walk around and escape the crowds. You can walk from the main beach to this location, the path is fairly clear, but it can be slippery at some point. It will take about 30-45 min to get here in a slow pace.

(Translated by Google) Motor vehicles are not allowed here, only on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. The latter is my recommendation, as the trail is almost 3 km long and is tiring, as it is on loose sand, which makes it very difficult to walk or bike. The view is beautiful, but no different from the other dunes on the coast of Ceará. The way back is even more difficult, as it is against the wind. Due to the high altitude reached, we can see the town of Jeri from above, as well as the sea. Interesting tour for those who visit the village, like walking around or riding horses. Always take water, as there is nowhere to buy it and you will be very thirsty, the sun is strong and the sea brings salt all the time...

No Sloth here. The name is because the tree seems to be laying down, lazy like a Sloth ☺️
Mateus R — Google review
This is the most pointless attraction in all of Jericoacoara. It’s just a tree. And not even that great of a tree. And it takes like 30 minutes of driving on the bumpy roads just to get to it.
Doug S — Google review
The tree really is beautiful, but there's always lots of people in line to take a picture
André L — Google review
Interesting tree, but a lot of people queeing to take pictures of the tree...
Mark N — Google review
This is one of the last manglar trees in the area. The tree is laying to the side because of the non stop strong winds. That's the reason for the name too. As you approach the tree you'll see a sing stating that it's forbidden to climb the tree. During the few minutes we spent there all of the visitors climbed the tree for their pictures. How silly the human being is, right?
Fernando M — Google review
Well, it's a tree lying down. No less. No more.
Bernard H — Google review
It's a nice tree with a beach background but to take quick photos only since there is a line and one shall not go into water

Sprawling national preserve with 21,900 acres, featuring a sandy beach popular with windsurfers.
Nice protected national park with beautiful dunes and sunsets. Very sandy, like sand everywhere. Also nice to jog as many people did. Dog friendly.
Samson Y — Google review
Nice beach place but the beach isn't anything spectacular in my eyes. Low tide takes the water out a long way, high tide leaves a small beach & shallow water. Loads of kite surfers & a few surfers (small waves from what I've seen). The night time comes alive with restaurants & drink vendors, this makes Jeri more attractive...but everything closes at 1am :)
Shane H — Google review
I am glad I went but I would not return. Getting there is a hassle. We hired a car from Fortaleza, then had to get a 4x4 into the park. You can fly to the nearby airport so that may be a better option. The dunes are beautiful but much reduced in size over recent years. The town is not unpleasant but a total tourist place. I prefer quieter places with less people. The beaches are not nearly as nice as the ones near me in Sao Paulo - hard sand and no shade anywhere. There was a lot of washed up rotting seaweed which was smelly and the water had zero visibility, maybe just the wrong time of the year. Lots of cars, buggies and motor bikes constantly racing around everywhere. It's a literal tourist trap as it is impossible to escape unless you take a 40 minutes bouncy ride back to Jeri, which is in effect leaving. It's really hard to self-cater because the local shops are very limited in what they have and are expensive. This must have once been a hauntingly beautiful place, but not anymore and would not make it into a top 50 list of places to visit in Brazil.
Paul D — Google review
Absolutely beautiful. Try to walk a little instead of doing the standard buggy/4×4 thing (take some water with you, walking shoes, sun screen and flip flops). You will see amazing landscapes and have time to observe the beautiful birds, butterflies, crabs and plants.
Anne D — Google review
Amazing spot to visit ! Desert dunes in front of the sea , lagoons , small oasis , mangrooves , and the small beautiful town of Jericoacoara! If you are in the north of Brazil pasing by Ceará you must visit it !

Jericoacoara National Park is a breathtaking destination that left a lasting impression on me as a solo traveler. The natural beauty of the park is truly remarkable, with vast dunes, crystal-clear lagoons, and stunning sea views in every direction. The hiking trails are well-marked, making it easy to explore safely on your own, and there’s an incredible sense of peace throughout the area. Though you’ll want to check pet rules in advance, my dog was able to enjoy some quieter parts of the park, splashing in shallow waters and running across sandy stretches. The sunsets here are world-famous, and I found them well worth the visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking adventure, tranquility, and unforgettable scenery!
Jahseh — Google review
It's nice but too overcrowded with tourists, high prices, tourist tax is annoying and guides offering you everything everywhere is really bothering. More places along the coast are worth it too. My favorite Lagoinha, small town, people friendly, cheap and good food.

(Translated by Google) It would be one of the best attractions in Jeri for children if the route weren't so hilly and physically demanding. Calm, warm waters all day long. Little fish and other marine animals everywhere. You can go along the beach when the tide is low or up the mountain at any time. Few visitors come here, which guarantees a bit of privacy and exclusivity for visitors. The photos always turn out beautiful, because the waters are wonderful and the rocks are beautiful too.

(Translated by Google) Spectacular!!!! Congratulations to Izaías for arranging the contract. Congratulations to Sthella for handling the WhatsApp service. Congratulations to Valdir, the guide and professional photographer. The company owns the vehicles. I took my second ride with a new UTV. 200 horsepower of pure adrenaline and excitement. A 100% serious and reliable company. He showed me the car beforehand and explained all the details of the tour. The ferry fee was included in the tour price. A cooler with soda, water, and energy drinks (I ordered zero/light)... You demanding and annoying São Paulo native like me, you can trust him. Forget about outsourcing tours, forget about old UTVs... the price is high, so to make it worth it, do it with someone who knows. Valdir is spectacular: safe, calm, attentive, a professional photographer, he didn't rush us, and he didn't recommend tourist traps to fool us... Nothing but praise. Izaías took me to the garage to show me the car. They had six UTVs there. New helmet, goggles/ski mask, clean/washed car. We left on time. He sent a message that he was leaving to pick us up at the hotel door. Small details that make the tour 1000 points!!!! I am immensely grateful and highly recommend it. Congratulations (Original) Espetacular!!!! UTV zero, fiz o 2o passeio dele. 200 cavalos de pura adrenalina e emoção. Empresa séria e confiável 100%. Me mostrou o carro antes, explicou todos os detalhes do passeio. Izaías me levou na garagem para me mostrar o carro. Tinha 6 UTVs lá. Capacete novo, óculos/máscara de ski., carro limpo/lavado. Saímos no horário.
