The Black Tower, a 16th-century structure in Ceske Budejovice, offers visitors the opportunity to climb 225 steps to reach its top and enjoy breathtaking views of the city. The tower is a popular attraction for families and history enthusiasts alike. Adjacent to the tower stands a functionalist building from 1935, showcasing impressive architectural details. Additionally, the Baroque Samson's Fountain can be found at the center of the square near the Black Tower.
Quite a walk up but views of surrounding areas stunning. 80czk

There are cafes around the beautiful and quiet city. You can sit in cafes. There is no toilet in the center. You can meet your needs in cafes. There are various places to eat. I discovered a nice pizzeria. It is a place where you can walk while eating ice cream. It is also beautiful at night. I especially put the night photos. There is also a currency exchange office where you can exchange your currency.

We were lucky to be able to visit the tower on the last day before it closes for the winter season. 255 steps to climb, but it was worth it because the view from the top was gorgeous. The man selling the tickets was very nice and helpful.
Sarah C — Google review
The historical tower is a must-visit attraction. There are approximately 200 stairs leading to the top. The initial section of the staircase is a historical stone spiral staircase with limited space, which might be challenging for claustrophobic individuals. There are informative boards about the tower's history and its bells, but unfortunately, they are only available in Czech. Tickets can be purchased at the top, and the cost for an adult is 60 CZK. The attendant is very friendly and speaks Czech, English, and German. The top offers a breathtaking 360 view of the city and a detailed perspective of the nearby main square. There is a small gift shop, and the functional clock mechanism is displayed within a glass vitrine, along with historical information about the clock and the city (this time also in English). It is undoubtedly worth a visit!

252 steps to the top where before you see the views you pay. Excellent view of the city from here
Paul A — Google review
No visitor to the city of Budweis should miss the opportunity to visit one of its most prominent landmarks – I'm talking about the Black Tower. It was built during the years 1550–1577 as a symbol of the city's economic prosperity at the time. Under the guidance of Italian architects, the tower reached an impressive height of 72.25 meters. Admission is 60 Czech Crowns and must be paid at the top. If you're reasonably fit and not afraid of heights, you should definitely climb to the top for a splendid view of the beautiful city of Budweis. Please be aware that the tower is closed on Mondays.
Martin — Google review
The entrance fee is only 30 CZK and you pay it when you reach the top of the tower. Magnificent views of the city ,you will be rewarded with a beautiful 360 view on the city. And if you know where to look, you can even see Hluboka Castle and nuclear power plant in the distance. MUST SEE
R L — Google review
Really good views from this old tower. Prepare to walk a little bit hard stairs (maybe 150) to get to the top, but it is worth it! There is also a small museum upstairs.

(Translated by Google) The Town Hall building was built in 1727-1730 according to the design of the Italian architect and sculptor Antonio Martinelli. The building, made in the style of a magnificent Italian Baroque, with a monumental facade of four sculptures by Dietrich (Wisdom, Justice, Courage and Thrift) is located in the southwestern part of the square. The highest tower of the Town Hall is crowned with a statue of the Czech Lion, the symbol of the state, and on the column of the tower at the entrance stands an iron standard meter, which is popularly called “elbow”. The main decoration of the ritual hall is the ceiling fresco, made in the Renaissance style by Jana Adam Schepf. The fresco depicts the historical scene of Solomon's judgment. The central staircase of the hall is made of wood with a relief coat of arms of Ceske Budejovice - it was restored according to original sketches during reconstruction in the second half of the last century. In 1995, 18 bells were installed on the belfry of the Town Hall, which melodiously announce each new hour - many tourists deliberately stay for another hour, hoping to hear this melodic music that brings happiness.

Specialty Museums
The Museum of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice is a charming and inviting museum that offers a diverse range of exhibits. Despite its smaller size compared to Prague's museums, it provides an enriching experience with interactive features such as sound listening, 3D models, and touch-and-guess games. The museum showcases unique animals, cultural customs, and geological displays. English translations are available for non-Czech speakers.
Surprisingly nice museum. The exhibitions are not very big, but they are full of interactive features like sound listening, 3D models, interactive microscope, touch and guess game, drawing for children and much more. I have seen local children playing with the 3D model of the city, placing famous monuments on the right spot on a map. It’s a nice place to spend an hour or two.

Unexpected highlight of my visit to the city and one of the best museums I’ve been to in Czechia. The region has a rich history worth exploring and a lot of cute animals I’d like to pet.

Very nice museum, with typical topical exhibits on natural history, archaeology and industrial/civil development in south Bohemia. Staff are polite and helpful. Every exhibit has either a written explanation in English or a QR to scan for English. Highly recommended. Paid parking in a public zone across the street.

Eclectic and interesting museum. I would like to say more and post more pictures but it seems virtually everything I post gets censored these days. I’m hoping the knights armour is not to suggestive of anything worthy of censorship but you never know with Google.

Amazing museum! The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Tons of unique animals, cultural customs, and much more. Even if you struggle with your Czech, don't worry, English translations are readily available. It may not be the biggest when compared to museums in Prague, but the inviting atmosphere along with the laid back lifestyle in Southern Bohemia allow you to fully absorb all there is to learn about this beautiful country. And after your trip to the museum be sure to find yourself a delicious plate of goulash(beef stew) and knedlik(dumplings), a Czech specialty, accompanied by a cold Kozel beer!!

(Translated by Google) The Dominican monastery with the Cathedral of the Sacrifice of the Virgin Mary belongs to the oldest and most valuable monuments of České Budějovice. We visited the monastery during Monuments Day and were lucky enough to be shown around by the castellan himself. For this occasion, he prepared a special lecture about important personalities who visited the monastery or lived there since the time when it began to be built at the same time as the town was founded in 1265. Inside the convent is a garden of paradise, which is surrounded on all sides by a beautiful cruciform corridor. With the monastery, you can also see the so-called The white tower. Thank you very much for the tour and we look forward to seeing you again sometime next time. Restaurace Masné krámy is a must-visit in Ceske Budejovice, Czechia. Located near the main square, it offers a wide selection of beers including specials from the brewery itself. The restaurant, once a meat marketplace, now serves as one of the city's most popular and lively spots. Signature dishes like roasted pork knees and homemade sausages are not to be missed.
Very big space, with sections on both sides that have separated big tables. Tasty food and good beer. Reasonable prices. And they are open until later than other pubs. Would recommend

Large restaurant in the heart of České Budějovice. My husband and I arrived with our 2 small children, the staff welcomed us courteously. They spoke German and English. We ate very well and drank very well too. I recommend the duck, it was delicious! Very good quality and prices. We were very comfortable. There are screens all over the restaurant and they were showing football. I recommend it 100%.
Blanca T — Google review
The building is historical and makes the whole dinner experience worthy, it is spacious, clean and cared. The staff was friendly, maybe didn’t speak English well enough, they forgot to bring the garlic bread and we ended up finishing our soups without bread. After reminding them, it was served too late and had no sense anymore. The food experience itself was average, the prices were fair, tastewise it was just ok, cannot consider it special or exceptional. The Pommes portion was quite small. We went there without reservation and there was plenty of free space.

Great local food. Honest service with knowledgeable staff. Worth stopping by. Good vibes and traditional without being over the top or too touristy.

Typical local restaurant. Tables inside and outside. Food was very delicious. You have to try the half-roasted duck as a local specialty. Service was fast enough for a crowded place like this. Beer was only two types but enough to satisfly your thirsty soul:)

A nice place to relax in front of a very good beer. We also enjoyed the food, especially the česnečka (garlic soup). The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stopped here on our way home from Prague as it was on the way. Place was packed on Saturday at 13:00 and we were lucky to get the very last table. I have tried half of roasted duck with dumpling and red cabbage - and it was amazing! You have to try it. Friends had goulash and it was also really good. No need to comment on one of the best beers in the world that comes from Ceske Budjovice - Budweiser or Budwar 33, it’s a must to try it. There is paid parking few hundred meters walking distance from the restaurant, don’t try to park in the old town.

Really worth to visit! Event though the ticket is not the cheapest, its worth to see what standards they have on the beer that you might have tried. During the trip you can try their non filtrated beer.

We took a tour of Budweiser plant. It was in English, not that expensive, very interesting. We tasted two kinds of unfiltered lager. It had an interesting and a different taste. The tour lasted around 50 minutes. They do tours in the afternoon in English, Czech and German. The only downside was that the tour guide's English was not that good (but we understood everything). The adjacent restaurant was too expensive for us.

Since September, there is only one tour, with the start at 2 p.m. We recommend to come sooner. There is also an interactive beer museum at the customer center, where you can get information about the history of Budvar brewery. The visit of the museum is free. Very good was also a short film in the Budvar cinema.

5 stars for the Christmas Market at the square. Cool vibe and everyone is so nice. There is an ice rink encircling the Samson statue and folks are zipping around, not ideal for beginners but I can see some out there. Love the Ferris Wheel, too, only $4 each to ride and the view was lovely. Food vendors are very kind and the cost was surprisingly low for an outdoor market. It felt more like a hometown celebration rather than a touristy thing, which I appreciated. We will definitely return tonight.

The restaurant boasts a microbrewery next door, with beer pumped directly to the taps. Traditional dishes are offered on the menu. Additionally, it is located in a beautifully reconstructed medieval granary building with the brew house just 50m away, allowing fresh beer to flow through a special "beer pipe" below the pavement.

Their own beer is incredible, I had to remind myself that I had other things to do, cause otherwise I‘d have probably had 10 beers there. It looked crowded on the evening, but we went for an early lunch and got a place without a problem. Price is very okay for the quality and the amount of food.

We decided to stop by České Budějovice on our way from Vienna to Linz and we stumbled upon this absolute gem of a restaurant! The food was amazing and their home brewed beer was some of the best I had on my trip! All the food felt very homey and tasted very fresh. They even had different menus for different days! The staff were very nice and accommodating considering we were foreigners that did not plan to visit Czechia at all and they still managed to guide us through the menus and payment options relatively smoothly.

A brewpub that does good food is so hard to find in Europe. This place is a total diamond, right up beside Warpigs in Copenhagen. Great Czech bier, tremendous traditional food combined with beer matched classics (I had brisket that melted in my mouth), extraordinary service. A couple of hours from Prague / Vienna. Do it!

Very cool place to have a beer or meal in Ceske Budejovice old town. Friendly staff and quality dish, plus the tasty beer from their own brewery. The prices are also affordable and good for money. Would recommend to reserve a table during the peak hour because the restaurant is almost full around that time.

This is - one of our best restaurants here in this area. The service was kind, spoke minimum 3 languages - Czech, German and English, was very fast and kind. The food was - as expected - very good, especially the local beer from the local brewery but also the kitchen was a combination of local well known products but with a modern touch. Thanks for this great experience!

Solnice provided a delightful lunch experience! Their house beers were impressive, complementing the fantastic flavors of their dishes perfectly. The stuffed potato dumplings, with caramelized cabbage and fried onion, exceeded expectations. We absolutely loved the hint of smoke in the filling. Also, the pulled beef neck in wine and fennel was really good.

Brewery
The Budweiser Budvar Visitor Center in Ceske Budejovice offers a fascinating opportunity to explore the birthplace of the original Budweiser beer. Visitors can join daily brewery tours, available in multiple languages including English, German, Spanish, and Russian. The tour provides insights into the history of the iconic beer and its production process. Guests have praised the informative nature of the tours and enjoyed tasting fresh unfiltered non-pasteurized Budvar at the end.
We had a great tour guide! She explained everything well and answered all our question. Lots of history and brewing process details. Highly recommend this tour.
Dan B — Google review
I went to Budweis for Holiday and of course couldn’t miss the Budweis visitor centre. I got a ticket immediately and the tour started in 5 min. It was very interesting and I learned a lot about the brewery and the brand and also the way of brewing beer. Our guide was also very nice but little shy. In the end came the beer tasting which was also very great. You should bring warm clothes because there were just a couple of degrees in the cellar, which I didn’t and I felt very cold. But anyway the visit was definedly worth, if you plan to go to Budweis
OOLucyInTheSkyOo — Google review
Definately worth a visit if you are visiting Budweis. Guided tour through the brewery costs 9€ per person and 6€ for students. The tour is about a hour long and the guide can answer all your questions. There is also a small shop where zou can buy beer glasses, caps and tshirts for a very good price.
TM — Google review
Didn’t do the tour but 5 stars to the gift shop. Price is better than Pilsner and the products are of great quality. Easy parking compared to Pilsner too.
Astrid L — Google review
Fantastic tour ! Been on multiple brewery tours around the world but this was the best one to date. Having fresh beer in the cellars was the particular highlight. The giftshop was inexpensive -we purchased a budvar glass, bottle opener and magnet. If you have time visit the onsite bar/restaurant- fantastic food and drink at reasonable prices.
Michael H — Google review
I should have given it 1* but I feel the brand deserves at least 2*. This place and the people here could not have done a worse job at customer service if they tried. We traveled way off our route (as most tourists probably do when they come here), only to be told that the next tour in English (or any other language but Czech!) would at 14:40, almost 3 hours after we got there. When we asked if there was anything we could see or do in the meantime, the answer was “No”. Not a movie, no beer tasting, no lunch, nothing!!!
Z U — Google review
Nice tour so you can see how doest the factory works and how beer is made. Regardnig the price they could at least give you one glass from which u drink the beer for free as a souvenir
Mob M — Google review
Super nice experience, I can highly recommend to go and visit it. They take you through the process how beer is brewed and then show you the factory. That factory is darn interesting, if you are around, just go an visit it. Our tour guide was a lovely middle aged man, you could see how much he enjoyes his job.

Café Datel, situated at Piaristicka 22/8, 370 01 Ceske Budejovice 1, just a short distance from Namesti Premysla Otakara II main square, is a versatile establishment that transitions from a charming specialty coffee shop and patisserie during the day to a lively bar in the evening.
Datel is among our most favorite cafés in Budějice. Excellent coffee (and Cascara!) including from the amazing local Kmen Coffee Roasters ☕️ and cakes that always brighten our day. We also love that you can share a breakfast 🥞 between two people - they arrange it beautifully on two plates for you. The atmosphere is very welcoming, even with kids, and the staff is genuinely friendly. The only small downside is the acoustics inside the café, but that’s just a feature of the space. We always look forward to coming back ❤️

Maybe the best place to relax in this Town. The food and drinks are perfect, the service is super friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful, and they even have a English menu card. An excellent restaurant in České Budějovice. I've been to Brio 3 times so far, and the food was delicious and prepared well every single time. I've tried beef soup with vegetables, duck breast with wine sauce, beef cheeks with wine sauce, and the burger with fries. The price-to-quality ratio is excellent. The staff is kind and helpful, even during the rush hour. I will be coming back to try more meals from the menu. Klika Kitchen & Coffee has an elegant atmosphere, with a formal dining ambiance in the glass house at the back that offers scenic views of the river during daylight hours. The restaurant is renowned for its limited yet high-quality menu, featuring fresh ingredients. A delicious and artistically presented tomato soup is a popular choice for starters. Situated on the promenade adjacent to the river and park, the establishment lacks air conditioning.
This way by far our favorite dinner on our 2 week trip. We came in the day of New Year’s Eve and asked if we could make a reservation for that night. They kindly found a time slot for us, despite being pretty busy! I’m a vegetarian and we didn’t realize that since it was New Year’s Eve, they would have a set menu which didn’t have any vegetarian options for the second course. When I told them about my dietary restrictions, they came back with a printed new menu, completely rewritten in English, having added a pumpkin risotto! The food was absolutely delicious with generous portions. The waiters were so attentive, providing by far the best service we’ve had on our trip. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Wish I could give them 6 stars, highly recommend!

The place is really nice but there is a waitress that every time we go there she makes us feel uncomfortable. She seems to be the boss or something and she is very rude. For instance today she got upset because one of us asked for a soup later than the rest of us. Then she asked about the bill (together or separately) and once again she got upset because we said separately. This is one of many examples I can find about this lady. It’s a pity because I really liked to go there… otherwise the food is nice 😊

For large families, birthday parties etc this is the PERFECT place. Extremely child friendly. Large playing area and sweet desserts galore. As a result, it is noisy so not a great place for a date. The interior makes you think you walked into an IKEA. The food is of decent quality but doesn't stand out. Big portions.

Nestled in the heart of Ceske Budejovice, Paluba is a modern restaurant that offers a unique dining experience with stunning views of the Muhlbach River. The ambiance is inviting, featuring glass walls that allow diners to soak in the picturesque surroundings while enjoying their meals. The menu at Paluba showcases a delightful blend of contemporary Czech and international cuisine, catering to various tastes with excellent vegan and vegetarian options available.
Came here on a way back from holidays in Austria. The food was absolutely amazing and unique and the restaurant is cosy and beutifuly decorated. We had duck, turkey and deer meals and each one was delicious with perfectly matched sauce and side dishes. The absolutely adorable latte art we got on our coffees by the end of our meal absolutely made my day. It was the perfect way to end our trip.

Well placed restaurant over the channel for mills. The Budvar tap beer is excellent, although the volume is only 400 ml instead of the usual 500 ml. We tried some simple food. Breaded turkey breast: it is from very low-quality meat chopped to small pieces chewy. Mashed potatoes: made from powder, glue like, sticky with quite a bad taste. Beef broth: low quality, mostly made from powder, oversalted. The ice cream is quite good, but overpriced, single ball 150 KCZ, 6 EUR. The service is quite rude.

We loved this place for its vibe - nice decor, a green feel, with lots of wood and a true bistro charm. The food was fantastic, and drinks, too, with prompt friendly service and a relaxed but professional feel. The menu was perhaps a little restricted for kids options, but our children were still happy with their choices (kids schnitzel, and an adult pork tenderloin) and we were all happy we had chosen something that felt authentic, non-touristy and a break from the traditional Czech food offered in many other places. Would strongly recommend.

First things first - we loved the food! Service was quick and attentive, the place is decorated in a very unique way we personally liked. Very good price point, especially for this quality. Clear recommendation!

Went here because the reviews were very positive and I wasn't disappointed. Had the roast beef starter which was the best I've had. The beef was cooked amazingly, the aioli it came with tasted really nice and I enjoyed the garnishings it came with (although maybe 1 too many on there that didn't add much like the raw red onion since it already had pickled onion). Had the goats cheese salad which was also really nice as it wasn't your average bag of salad with a slab of goats cheese on top. Sadly I wasn't a huge fan of the duck which is why I've not given 5 stars. The mango and raspberry lemonades were also really good and had chunks of fruit which was a pleasant surprise. Loved the carefully curated decor and the atmosphere. The weather was on our side so the windows were open to the river which really added to the dining experience. Would recommend coming here and will definitely be back myself!

Food and atmosphere were above average, cozy setting. The homemade bread was very salty indeed. We were a group of 9 who preferred to sit all together. The tall waiter insisted to separate us into 2 groups. No matter how many times we ordered for glasses, they were only willing to give us 5. We also had to request plates a few times and they had to give two. The tall waiter came back to us for the 3rd time “commanding” us to break our table into 2. It came to a point that we felt so annoyed so we break our table into 2 to make him happy so we can have a peaceful meal. By the time I walked out of the restaurant, I almost forgot I was the paying customer. Having traveled all over the world for job and pleasure, this is the restaurant I will remember for life. And I will never come back to them. At your own risk.

SCAM AND VERY EXPENSIVE They gave us the menu in German with prices. The food was very poor and the toppings were missing. The chocolate milkshake with the glass half empty. When we went to pay it was 120-150 crowns more than what was on the menu. When I asked, they told me that it was the old menu, that those prices were not valid. They never warned us about that at any time! On top of not apologising, they didn't refund us the difference (as it's not our fault) and they didn't even say goodbye. Never again, I do not recommend it to anyone.

Terrible experience. I left hungry and felt ripped off. The food did not have the ingredients listed on the menu and when we paid they charged us much more, telling me that the price on the menu was not up to date. They did nothing about it and did not apologise. 19€ for two tiny pancakes and two drinks is a robbery. I will never go back.

(Translated by Google) A great place to go with children. We went to a show about stars and planets, it lasted less than an hour, the story about the universe was incredibly engaging and interesting, the children were not bored at all, it was really of a very high standard. Stars, planets and the universe rotate above your head, all with a very well-founded explanation. It was, in the words of my daughter, "mega dense" :-) The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Nice space-themed souvenirs are sold at the entrance. It's just sad that all this cost 140 CZK, which is a price for which you won't buy a single ticket to the worst action movie in the cinema today. Unfortunately, times are different and people would rather spend money on nonsense than appreciate quality and erudition. Be sure to come and support this great place! Nad hlavou Vám rotují hvězdy, planety a vesmír, to vše s velmi fundovaným výkladem. Nice church with beautiful architecture . The church is near to the main square. The church and the black tower is an recommended destination in ceske budjovice. The establishment of St Nicholas Cathedral dates as far back as the 13th century, when it was founded as a parish church for the royal town of České Budějovice. It was rebuilt in the Late Gothic style in 1518-1535. A great fire consumed almost the entire building in 1641, and afterwards it was rebuilt again, this time in the Baroque style. Its Baroque renovation was entrusted to Italian architects J. Cipriani and F. Canevalle. The cathedral was completed in 1649, but another Italian architect G. A. de Maggi converted the church facade to its present-day form in 1686-1688. The cathedral also underwent more modifications and repairs in the following years. The inner triple nave is divided by three pairs of massive prismatic pillars. The rich stucco decoration was made by T. Zeisl. The main altar dating to 1791 by Z. Hueber is dominated by a large-scale painting of St Nicholas from 1648 by D. Bachmann.

The Church of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary in České Budějovice is a remarkable example of Renaissance Revival architecture. It offers visitors a unique and intimate atmosphere, reminiscent of Orthodox churches found in Southeast Europe. Despite its camouflaged entrance from the street, one can still admire its beautiful interior through latticed windows, even when it's closed. This Catholic church provides a serene space for prayer and reflection, allowing individuals to connect with the divine.

(Translated by Google) My other fond memory of this year's holiday and a brief glimpse into the interior of the church, at least through the locked lattice. This rather hidden Roman Catholic church in the development of buildings on Žižková Street in České Budějovice is a rare example of the so-called Beuron art in South Bohemia. When entering from the street, you will certainly be interested in the mosaic on the front of the church from the workshop of Viktor Foerster. And if you take the handle, in addition to Christ on the cross, you will be greeted in the passage by a small place of worship in a niche with lighting, "Our Lady of Lourdes". The church was built between 1899 and 1900 according to the plans of Jakub Stabernak. I can definitely warmly recommend your visit ♥️🚶💒🙏 because the beauty of the interior decoration cannot be described in words.

The entrance from the street is quite camouflaged 😀.

(Translated by Google) I could only see the church through the bars and even then it looked very beautiful, but I wanted to know a little more about the church. Unfortunately, it was closed, even though it was written on the website that it is open every day. After calling, I was told that the tours are only until October and that they probably have it wrong on the website. (Translated by Google) One of the biggest Budejovice surprises! I first walked past the frontage (set in a row of residential blocks) without noticing anything. It wasn't until I stood in the middle of Senovážné náměstí and scanned the surrounding area 360 degrees, precisely so that I wouldn't miss any sacred monument, that I saw a church tower in the courtyard. I immediately returned and was rewarded with a tour of the church without paying and almost in private (there was only one visitor inside). It is not for nothing that the decoration of the church is one of the most beautiful examples of the so-called Beuron art (historical school of ecclesiastical art) in South Bohemia. The Roman Catholic church was built together with the religious house of the Congregation of the Brothers of the Holy Sacrament (Petrines) by the local builder J. Stabernak between 1899 and 1900. A one-nave building with a vestibule and a square choir with a semicircular apse replaced the temporary chapel from 1888, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. The result of the realization of the project developed by the Benedictine nuns from Prague's Emmaus Monastery is a work with rich decorativeness, drawing on the traditions of Byzantine and Romanesque architecture. The entrance facade of the church respects the facade line of the surrounding buildings. The emphasis of the mass of the church was achieved with a large-scale figural mosaic depicting the foundation of the church, the entrance itself is highlighted by stone pilasters with figures of angels. The greatest care of the founders was devoted to the decoration of the main altar, the carved coffered ceiling is also very impressive. One of the biggest Budejovice surprises for me! First I walked past the facade (set in a number of blocks of residential buildings) without noticing anything. Until I stood in the middle of Senovážné Square and scanned 360 degrees of the surrounding area, just not to miss any sacral monument, I saw a church tower in the courtyard. I immediately went back and had a wonderful tour of the church without paying and almost in private (there was only one visitor inside). I agree with the statement that the decoration of the church is one of the most beautiful examples of so-called Beuron Art (a historicizing school of the Church Fine Arts) in South Bohemia. The Roman Catholic Church was built alongside the religious house of the Congregation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Petrins order) by local builder J. Stabernak between 1899-1900. A single-story building with a hall and a quadratic choir with a semicircular apse replaced the temporary chapel from 1888, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. The entrance facade of the church respects the line of facades of the surrounding area. The greatest care of the founders was devoted to the decoration of the main altar, and the carved ceiling is also very impressive. Jednolodní stavba s předsíní a kvadratickým chórem s půlkruhovou apsidou nahradila prozatímní kapli z 1888, zasvěcenou Panně Marii Lurdské. Výsledkem realizace projektu vypracovaného benediktiny z pražského kláštera V Emauzích je dílo s bohatou dekorativností, čerpající z tradic byzantské a románské architektury. Vstupní průčelí kostela respektuje linii fasád okolní zástavby. Zdůraznění hmoty kostela bylo docíleno velkoplošnou figurální mozaikou zobrazující založení kostela, samotný vstup zvýrazňují kamenné pilastry s postavami andělů. Největší péče zakladatelů byla věnována výzdobě hlavního oltáře, velmi působivý je i vyřezávaný kazetový strop. One of the biggest Budějovice surprises for me! The Church of St. John the Baptist and St. Procopius, often referred to as the Old Town Church, stands as a remarkable testament to history, dating back to the first half of the 13th century. Nestled near the serene banks of the Vltava River, this beautiful church offers a tranquil atmosphere complemented by its charming surroundings and a small park nearby.

Place with nice atmosphere, definitely one of the most pleasant in the town during the summer as it is placed in an old stone tower. Fine beer, lemonades and good snacks. But the big downside is that there is always some inaccuracy when it comes to paying the bill. Last time we had to pay at least five more drinks and this problem is quite common there, mostly when they see that part of the group left before and the rest can't be sure if they have paid everything - and as we were in hurry to catch a bus, there was no time to contact our friends and argue with the waitress. If it was for the first time, I'd say that it was a mistake, but during few years we were there about 3-5 times and it was always the same.

Flanked by the Mühlbach, this is a very beautiful, quiet and historically interesting area in Wels. Here, not far from the Minorite Monastery, is the so-called water tower, built between 1577 and 1579. It gets its name from its function in providing fire-fighting and drinking water. In the past, the water from the Mühlbach flowing past was led through a pumping station in the tower via pipes into the fountains on the town square and some town houses. The tower itself is not accessible today, but serves as a wonderful backdrop thanks to its remarkable mock architecture and wall paintings from the Renaissance. The coat of arms frieze represents the numerous possessions of the Habsburgs at the time of Maximilian II. The date 1886 on the pedestal points to it´s relocation and renovation.

Koncertní síň O. Jeremiáše, originally a Roman Catholic church and the second oldest Capuchin monastery in Bohemia, is now a beautiful concert hall. Located on Knezska Street, it was chosen due to its sparse surroundings after a fire in 1579. The hall features a beautiful organ and wooden chairs that add to its festive ambiance.

(Translated by Google) Originally, the building of the Roman Catholic church was the seat of the Capuchin order in Kněžská street and is the second oldest Capuchin monastery in Bohemia. A suitable place was sought for the establishment of a Capuchin convent, if possible on the outskirts of the city, in a sparsely built-up area. Therefore, the choice fell on the sparsely built-up Kněžská Street, where several townspeople's houses remained in ruins after the fire that affected the city in 1579. The foundation stone was laid in June 1615. The church was completed in 1620 and consecrated on February 1, 1621. As part of the Josephine reforms, the České Budějovice Capuchin convent was abolished in 1788. The church was then closed for more than 15 years. In 1804, it was reopened for religious services. In the years 1843–1844, it was modified in a classicist manner, and from 1988 the church became the property of the South Bohemian Philharmonic, which converted it into the Otakar Jeremiáš concert hall. Originally, the Roman Catholic Temple was the seat of the Capuchin Order in Kněžská Street and is the second oldest Capuchin monastery in the Czech Republic. For the establishment of the Capuchin convent a suitable place was sought, preferably on the outskirts of the city in a sparsely built-up area. That is why the choice was made on the Kněžská Street, where a number of burgher houses remained in ruins from the fire that hit the city of 1579. The foundation stone was laid in June 1615. The church was completed in 1620 and it was ordained on February 1, 1621. Within the framework of the Josephine reforms the Convent was abolished in 1788. Havel's Place is a beautiful spot that serves as a reminder of the beloved President and his moral principles, which continue to inspire many. Located on the university campus, this pleasant place offers seating where visitors can reflect and relax. The wooden stool at this memorial may require maintenance due to drying out, but it remains a touching tribute to Vaclav Havel. Additionally, there is another bench in Lima dedicated to Vaclav Havel, bringing joy and enthusiasm to those who encounter it.
