The Ars Electronica Center, also known as the Museum of the Future, is a landmark building in Linz, Austria. Established in 1996 and relocated to its current futuristic location on the Danube in 2009, it offers technology-based exhibitions that showcase the city's role as a hub for technology, media, industry, and art. Visitors can explore one-of-a-kind exhibits related to science and technology, including displays on climate change, space exploration, biotechnology, and robotics.
Amazing, inspiring, huge. It’s hard to describe the diversity and breadth of what you can see at the festival.
Szymek D — Google review
This museum might be engaging for children under 10, but for others, it’s one of the most boring and disappointing museums I’ve visited in a long time. I entered with high expectations but was let down within seconds of seeing the exhibition. There’s little of interesting things, most of the time, I wasn’t even sure why I was there. The museum consists mainly of a few screens and wall texts, with at least half of the artifacts not functioning. They could easily create a website, copy-paste the texts, and post the few videos there instead. Overall, the museum feels undefined and empty. Here, you’ll only find what feels like random Wikipedia articles.
Jure F — Google review
Your enjoyment of this museum will likely depend on your interests. This museum goes pretty technical and fairly in-depth about all the available topics so if you aren’t particularly interested in them you might find the museum boring. The first exhibition didn’t suite my interests so I wasn’t interested but the AI part I found very interesting because AI is interesting to me.
Goodguy L — Google review
Located near the banks of a river with a beautiful view. Have a bus stop right in front of it. If while waiting for the bus for a long time with luggage one wants to visit this, no issue. There is locker facility to hold the luggage with lock and key arrangement. Special price on shows for senior citizens. Displays are not that great and informative. Not muchattractive for visitors. Children have some exclusive area for learning and fun.
Karthikeyan K — Google review
Some interesting exhibits especially the quite nerdy section on AI which goes into surprising detail and has some good demos showing how neural nets work. Just beware the 'deep space' show is nothing to do with the universe and more just a kalaidoscope projected onto the floor.
James F — Google review
Absolutely disappointing. There is nothing specific, mostly screens and texts. Better to go to the cinema for the good picture on the screen. I think it was the worst museum I have ever visited. Maybe it is fine for the children though.
Lazzabuda L — Google review
The Ars Electronica Center is a captivating fusion of art and technology. With its interactive exhibits and immersive displays, it offers a thrilling exploration of the digital frontier. A visit to this museum is an inspiring journey into the boundless possibilities of the modern age.

Mountain peak
Pöstlingberg, a 539-meter high hill above Linz, offers a unique experience for visitors. Accessible by historic trams in the summer and modern trams year-round, the journey to the top takes about 20 minutes. Atop Pöstlingberg, there's a historic church and an observation deck providing panoramic views of Linz. The area is also known for its picturesque uphill tram ride and opportunities to spot deer in nature.
A fun, steep tram ride with fantastic views at the top over the city. Don't follow the Google Map pin for Postlingbergbahn - it looks like it only goes from the stop over the river, but it actually goes from the main square, Hauptplatz. The tram is scheduled every half an hour, which is just long enough at the top to take some pictures, follow the circular path and take a look at the church. Very handy attraction for a reasonable price
Seiriol D — Google review
A unique tram station and also a heritage tram ride. It goes up to an elevation of 560m hill of Postlinberg hill with a steep track and very narrow track. From here you can enjoy the view of Linz city.
Shaikh S — Google review
We had a night halt in Linz during our river cruise. The Postlingberg is a 539 (1760 ft) high hill on the left bank of the Danube in city of Linz. It is a very popular tourist attraction, with a viewing platform over the city, and is the site of the Postlingberg pilgrimage church, and the Linz Grottenbahn. One can reach here from city square by line 50 of the Linz tramways, running over the Postlingbergbahn mountain tramway. It costs 10 euro for return trip, and it takes 20 minutes each way. It runs every 30 minutes. The ride both ways was very pleasant and scenic. The view from top is great of entire town, countryside and Danube. There was a restaurant, cafes, a church and a theater. There was also a zoo on the midway. A nice place for families and photo opportunities !!
Balkrishna S — Google review
We visited Pöstlingberg with our child and had a great time. The highlights were interacting with the deer, riding the Grottenbahn toy train, and exploring the miniature houses—all of which our child loved. The place is scenic, peaceful, and very family-friendly. We spent about 3 hours there, which was perfect for a relaxed visit. Highly recommended for families looking for a fun and easy outing in Linz!
Tejus U — Google review
Great views from up here and a very nice cafe with a lot of yummy cake, including the famous Linzer torte.
Chris L — Google review
Pöstlingberg is a great way to spend a day in nature, in Linz, with a pretty good chance to see deer grazing. There are also some great panoramic views of the city, weather permitting. No matter the weather, there are cool restaurants and places to walk around and take in the sights and fresh air.
Bob W — Google review
Cool tram ride, great view from the hill and a great walk on the hill with the kids. They loved the playground area and the space up there. A thing to do in Linz on a Sunday.
Nikolina K — Google review
Perfect place for weekend wandering(you can get here also with a tram, which is the steepest, or one of most steep railways in Europe). Observation deck with a view on Linz, if weather is nice and air is clear, at the horizon you can see Alps.

Schlossmuseum Linz is a glass-and-steel museum located at Linz Castle, offering a captivating display of Upper Austrian culture, art, nature, and technology. The castle itself has a rich history dating back to the 9th century and now houses the excellent Schlossmuseum. Visitors can explore valuable collections of art and history, including ancient, Roman, and medieval artifacts such as paintings, sculptures, weapons, and armor.
The museum and the exhibits and quite well maintained. The ticket was 6.5 euros and they gave multiple exhibits, we really liked the nature one. It's a good place to come with kids since they have a lot of activities for them.
Ana F — Google review
Larger museum than I expected, particularly given the affordable ticket price. They have insects, coins, traditional crafts, nativity, science, garments... basically everything goes. The new glass building was english-friendly, the larger traditional castle was a hit and miss. Pity that they didn't fully translate, because their most unique artefacts are in the castle and I couldn't tell what I was looking at. The staff doesn't speak much English. I didn't like that they kicked out visitors way ahead of closing times. I also found the museum challenging to navigate. Overall, the collections are of international interest but the management isn't at that level.
Philippe — Google review
Beautiful museum on top of a small hill with lots of very interesting exhibits. Tickets were also very cheap, only 6.5 euros for adults and 3 euros for students. Really worth the money with the quality of the exhibits. There is also a very interesting cave lift entrance for people who don't want to climb the hill to access the main entrance.
Wong X — Google review
Beautiful place with very nice exhibits. The staff could be friendlier. I mean they are not unfriendly. But it is not like in Vienna where they go out of their way to accommodate you. If they don’t know something - they don’t know it, and they won’t be bothered with trying to find out. The museum itself is very nice as it is old but was beautifully renovated. We were there for the Kaktus exhibit which is a must see!
Chrisi S — Google review
A really interesting museum. Worth visiting for different age. A bit funny combination of objects under display though. Amusing) There's a restaurant too.
Алена М — Google review
This one of the best museum. Perfect for all ages.
Alexander L — Google review
It was an interesting museum with many different areas. The levels of English varied greatly between areas, but most were understandable. They have an extensive collection of ecclesiastical objects, a science gallery and other special areas, including modern art. As it seems an add-on, I would not come here for the science area.
Chris S — Google review
We were quite disappointed that there was nothing labeled in English. We were told that English tour reservations must be done at least 2 weeks in advance. Inside the museum, everything was in German so we didn't really know what we were seeing, except for the technology section where there is a funny robot who can give you a little explanation of some of the items.

Linz Botanical Garden, located on the eastern slopes of the Freinberg just a short walk from the city center, is a stunning attraction boasting over 10,000 plant species spread across beautiful flowerbeds and five greenhouses. The garden features rare wild plants, cacti, orchids, and a superb Rosarium. It also hosts open-air summer concerts and readings on its stage amidst nature.
Amazing place to visit. I did not expected such a nice and big place. Will be back for sure.
Hugo C — Google review
Lovely place for a walk around on a nice day. Saw it all in an 1 hour, then had a lovely coffee and cake in the cafe. Entry cost and cafe were quite good value. Quite a steep walk up to the gardens though
David U — Google review
Nice enough for a quick stroll, but nothing particularly special. Decent variety of plants, but overall pretty average
Mai A — Google review
A lovely botanical garden to visit. They do have a cafe, although it was fully booked on a Wednesday even though it was nearly empty. We didn't see anyone go in while we had our takeaway coffee either, maybe they all came later
Tom ( — Google review
Perfect place for relaxation and observing flora close to the stadium.
Zoltán B — Google review
A beautiful, small, but very cozy Botanical Garden. There are many places on the territory where you can sit and listen to birdsong. The greenhouse has magnificent orchids and a collection of cacti! There is a cafe on site.
Maria G — Google review
Well maintained botanical garden. The entry fee is less than 4 euro. The place is easily reachable by public transport. I enjoyed strolling around. There is nice restaurant which offers great food and coffee. I spent an entite day here, clicked many pictures of beautiful flowers. It’s a great spot for photography enthusiasts. Would definitely recommend.
Akshaya G — Google review
I'm not the biggest fan of flowers but this was an experience that has changed my mind about botanical gardens and I will try to visit as many as I can from on. Entry price is very low at about three euro and you can easily spend about three hours exploring all the gardens.

Grottenbahn is a unique and nostalgic underground train ride in Linz, Austria that takes you through the Land of Dwarves, featuring evil dwarves, taxidermied animals, and dragons. The electric dragon-shaped train offers a whimsical journey through scenes from fairytales, making it an ideal activity for families with children. After the ride, visitors can explore miniature exhibitions of famous fairytales in a model town.
It was a very nice, entertaining activity to do with children of all ages. My small one was absolutely fascinated. I think we need to visit again and again until he can figure everything out.
Karina A — Google review
Awful management. For my daughter's birthday, we spent the €171 for the event. However, the management ruined the experience of our guest's mothers by sending them away from the venue into extremely bad weather. The unempathetic manager also did this in an extremely rude manner that left everyone, including other waiting guests, in shock. The attraction itself is quaint and fun, brilliant for birthdays. The party host was fantastic, and the kids loved meeting Sebastian the dragon.
Ed — Google review
Great place to pass by with children. Train who turn around few times with different light and perspective is a great idea ! Then fairytales in miniature city - even that surprised adult like me and I enjoy the visit like a kid. Best attraction in this area ! If you with family this is must visit place
Kamil N — Google review
An interesting adventure for families with children of any age. And the lovers were riding behind us in the train - it was obviously a date ;) The train carries three circles, you can have time to look at all the figures. And then take a walk around the “town” with scenes from the most famous fairy tales.
Maria G — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Grottenbahn. The train ride was fun, and I was very appreciative that it went around 3 times so you could see everything. However, for me, it still wasn't enough times to see all the details I would have liked to see. I did love the second part of the experience where they have the miniature town square and different fairy tales. I would highly recommend this, especially for families with children.
Shawna F — Google review
It’s ok to visit with small kids max 6/7 years old. Small train makes 3 or 4 rounds in small magical cave filled with elf’s. On the floor below you’ll find a small fairy tale city with themed corners. Overall it’s worth the trip up the hill for a magnificent view of Linz
3 G — Google review
We went to the imagenary world of Dwarfs and fairy tails by tram, uphill about 519 meters above the old town at Linz. It was a nice tril with wonder view along the way. At the Dwarfs World bought tickets to see their imagenary world. Fun for family and adults too.

Not as old as you’d expect but equally as beautiful. Love the modern interpretation with the replacement stained glass windows destroy during WW2. It’s an interesting space inside and definitely worth walking around and taking in the views. There’s a lovely cafe attached to the side. Free entry.

We climbed up to the top panorama floor of 630 steps. Only guided tour available, book in advance. Offered at some certain hours of certain days (weekends). The dom itself is huge and very nice inside.

One of the largest cathedrals in the world. Since it was not allowed to be taller than St. Stephens in Vienna, its about 2 m shorter. There are a couple exhibits that show the building materials. The stained glass windows are absolutely amazing.

In the heart of Linz is the old town. The main square (Hauptplatz) was built in the 13th century and symbolizes the center of the old town. This square is surrounded on all sides by ancient buildings and is considered one of the largest enclosed squares in Austria. In the center of the square is a memorial column – the Holy Trinity Column (Dreifaltigkeitssäule). The cafes and restaurants in the square have a good atmosphere and good beer. We enjoyed spending the afternoon in the square and also enjoying looking at the surrounding buildings with interesting architecture

The only downside is that you have to drive up to the barrier, enter directly from the cabin at the loading dock (otherwise you can't, you won't reach the terminal from the ground), then it will tell you that you missed the time window and you have to reverse very difficult, sharply to the right and uphill, an unpleasant maneuver. Museums
Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz is a contemporary art museum located on the banks of the Danube River. The museum's notable waterside building, illuminated at night, houses an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art. Visitors can explore works from the 19th century, including pieces by renowned artists such as Klimt, Schiele, and Kokoschka, as well as contemporary art positions like VALIE EXPORT.
Enjoyable & delightful, although one room was being refurbished, the size and position was perfect as I was on a cruise and time is limited on shore :) . If you are an art lover I recommend it! I was lucky to see some of Andy Warhol ( which I have last seen in New York 2013 ! nice to see Austrian artists like Johann Jaska, of course Richard Hamilton's I am dreaming of a black Xmas was a nice surprise . Thank you for the experience xxx

This spacious and modern museum by the river houses paintings by Egon Schiele, Keith Haring, and artists from Upper Austria among others. The permanent collection on the top floor is small and can be viewed in one hour. There were just a few visitors on a Friday afternoon so plenty of space for me to enjoy the artworks.

Families with children are not welcome here. Worst experience. Total Disrespect towards visitors with children. Grown women employee starts the conversation with aggression, just in the begininng of excurssion. Public yuck to employees, they should start by learning basic etiquette to start work in a place like this. My family have been to many museums around the world, this is the first time we have had such a terrible experience.

This museum didn't impress me much. It's kind of modern art. But still not much to explore. I am an art lover and little bit artist. I didn't find it worth of money they charged. Included in Linz Pass. One gallery was not open to all. It requires pre booking. Couple of hours are enough to explore depending upon how much you love modern art.
Sham — Google review
Lazy curation. Such an underwhelming collection, completely as a step the outside of the building. Way too many male artist women are deeply under represented. I counted 40 works, before seeing one female artist. This is deeply lazy in 2025. We expect better from you Lentos

With over 110 animal species from around the world, including zebras, pandas, and monkeys, this zoo is a popular family attraction. Visitors can enjoy educational programs and activities while exploring the diverse range of animals housed in the zoo. The hilly terrain provides an easy walk with visible animals and various playgrounds for kids to enjoy.
All the animals are visible and not hiding. Some hilly areas but a relatively easy walk. Took us about 90 minutes to walk around the loop. Great place to bring kids even though we did not attend with children. Snack area and clean restrooms. Only 11 euros per person.

Cute idea for a day out, but I feel like some animals (especially reptlies) could use a bit more care :c There was a lot of maintance going on when we visisted, so a lot of enclosure were empty. Can't say if this is normal! Tip: Ask for animal food at the entrace (2€) to hand feed the donkeys, the deers and the gots ✨️

We had a fantastic dining experience! This restaurant is an excellent choice for dinner and drinks. The staff were incredibly polite and professional, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. All the dishes were not only delicious but also generously portioned. I highly recommend this spot for a delightful evening out.
Clio P — Google review
Very elegantly and luxuriously furnished restaurant, especially the view of the Mariendom from the windows is majestic. The food was visually attractive served, good taste. Wagyu flank for 41 Euro was not a good choice. The steak came already covered with a sauce and was not medium rare, as I wanted it, rather medium and because it was served sliced, it cooled down very quickly. It was also not optimal that the steak was mixed with a mixture of roasted bacon, onion rings and pimentos, for a total of 12 Euro. Instead of the ordered fries with chilli mayo, I got fried potato chips with ketchup. After the complaint, I got chili mayo. As for the standard filet steak, that was the better choice. And at a better price. Moreover, the olives in the appetizer were not optimal - the guest has nowhere to put the pits and to eat the olives must either use a fork for the main course or eat with bare hands. On the positive note, I would highlight the beers on offer, the Kristall Schlägl on tap and Pauls Bier in the bottle were very good. As well as the wine. The service was fast and attentive, but a bit measured, and as for the friendly approach, the waiter did the minimum necessary, but did not give the impression that he enjoys serving guests in the restaurant. Overall, it was an average gastronomic experience at high prices, but in a very charming environment. I recommend a visit.
Lubomir K — Google review
This was a pretty weird experience! Not in a good way as well… we came in because we read such wonderful reviews but the reality was that the service was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced, the surprise menu started interesting but then proved that they are trying to just make money, the steak served as part of the 60€ meal was less than 100 grams, the worst part was that we had to wait during the three course menu for an astonishing 2.5 hours and after about 2 hours when I first asked (politely and in German) if we’re ever gonna get the dessert, the response from the staff was rude and loud… can’t stress it enough Don’t waste your money and time here if your visiting Linz
Mash — Google review
The burger was fantastic as were all the side dishes. The fresh bread with the dips is very morish! Friendly staff. Will come back here if I return to Linz!
James F — Google review
First. The presentation of the food, the restaurant interior and the service was excellent. The location next to the cathedral is top. Clean restrooms and also a nice area to sit outside. It was my first visit here and the expectations were very high, especially when ordering a €70 steak (without sides). My friends had a "standard" filet steak but both types were not prepared as ordered. The time on the grill was slightly too long which resulted in imperfect results. My steak had additionally a slightly different smell and aftertaste like I am used to. I know a good steak from around the world because of my business travels, but this one was slightly different for my taste. At the time it was ok for us because we were hungry and we finished our meal anyways. We told the waiter what we didn't like so that it doesn't happen again. Just for this first experience I would not try it again. My friends were pretty much happy with their steaks though.
Frederik L — Google review
One of the best diners we ever had! I ordered the Wagyu burger which was a bit spicy but amazing and so soft and flavourful! We also got the Ribeye steak which was a bit raw but overall very good and juicy, especially with these potatoes with onions. I definitely recommend going here, even if it is a bit more expensive than the other places!

While not always open to visitors, its outer doors are occasionally left ajar, allowing glimpses of its interior from the doorway. This quaint church holds significance as the oldest continuously operating church in Austria and has been chosen as the venue for special events like weddings.

I went to Billy Harper quintet concert, it was so amazing and so beautiful. There were some little points though. One is that the it would be so nice if the person who talked before the concert started would have talked in English. And the second matter is about the audience , they were clapping in the middle of the pieces after each solo. Which is a cultural matter I think but it s not respectful to the musicians anyway. Apart from these points the concert was beyond wonderful.

While on a teacher exchange, I was fortunate enough to hear two musical performances on back to back nights. The first night was a full symphonic orchestra with works by Mozart and Beethoven. The second night was a performance by the fantastic Voestalpine symphonic bass orchestra. While listening on the first night I noticed how balanced the sound from each instrument seemed to be. Throughout the night, the sound quality stood out. This continued the following night. Out of the various halls I have heard symphonies performed, this is at the top for sound quality. If it were not 6 time zones away, I would be a regular at performances here.

Nestled in the vibrant cultural quarter of Linz, Gelbes Krokodil, or "Yellow Crocodile," is a charming café that transforms into a culinary haven every Sunday from September to May. This delightful spot collaborates with Moviemento cinema to host an enchanting film brunch where guests can savor delicious dishes while enjoying classic films or the latest blockbusters. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for both casual dining and pre-movie meals.
Loved this hidden gem!! Service was great and food was fantastic! I had the rigatoni for some carb replenishment after walking around such a beautiful city, and I would highly recommend it - and have it again. Good beer too. It’s not the easiest place to find from the main shopping street, through an archway, and you won’t see it until you’ve walked across the large square (to the left), then you need to go down some steps. This is a must visit!!

Amazing vegan food and service! Visiting from Australia and found this place following Trip Advisor/Google reviews. Being a Saturday night, they were nearly fully booked but seated us at the bar. The staff were absolutely motoring to serve everyone but still found time to generously attend to us and our German language deficiencies (and recommending us some top notch tap beers). They were also kind enough to reseat us at a table when it became free. The menu is so clearly laid out with vegetarian and vegan sections - and they even showed different allergy codes like soy and sulfur! The food was delicious - truly some of the best dedicated vegan I've had. Despite the very upmarket decor it was astoundingly well priced - 50€ for two beers, two mains, and two apéritifs. Fantastic experience, highly recommend!

Travelling alone I was nicely surprised they invited me to eat at the counter instead of waiting for a free table, and as a vegetarian I could choose from half the menu, staff was very nice. Had laibchen vom grill, but with red cabbage since they ran out of celery-garlic sauce, not quite the same, and the salad was sour and craved for a decent sauce. So muh, should've been much better for this price.
Marieke V — Google review
You need reservations! Very busy place and I see why. The food was amazing. Really wanted the vegetarian lasagna but they changed the menu. The dish I had was sort of a spinach cheese loaf with salad. It truly was delicious. 🤤 I’m sampling the New York cheese cake and it is good as well. 2 small suggestions. Get one menu that is in English. Make sure to have disposable utensils for take out. Thanks again will recommend to my daughter’s company. Oh ya you have to go down some steps. GPS had me stop in front of another restaurant. Just keep walking until you see the rainbow stairs and walk down.
Denise B — Google review
NOT RECOMMENDED. Nice that they have vegan options but it’ll ruin your tastebuds. Got the oysters mushrooms dish. There was only 3 pieces of mushrooms and EXTREMELY salty. Their idea of “Asian dish” is to spash lots of soy sauce. Staff were ok, they do their job and ask how was the food but went away as soon as the sentance escape their lips. 😅

Had a nice dinner at the Gelbes Krokodil in our stay at Linz. We didn't have a reservation but they were so accommodating to arrange a table for us. Staff was very friendly and food was delicious. Had a dessert as well and that was the highlight of the dinner. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Had lunch at this restaurant and ordered the beef plate. I was disappointed with the portion as there were very few beef strips on the plate (not even 100g of meat!) and the rest of the plate was filled with little amount of vegetables and a lot of rice! For the price they charge, they could be more generous with the meat serving!

Jack the Ripper is a great veteran spot for traditionally grilled and fried ribs that are served on burgers, wraps and salads. The restaurant has a great drink selection with elderberry being one of my favorites. The service was friendly and prompt, making it an easygoing place to visit.
I recently grabbed dinner at Jack the Ripperl by the Taubenmarkt in Linz. The name hints at ribs—and wow, do they deliver. The moment I opened the menu, I realized this place is serious about ribs (they’ve been honing their craft since '74 in Upper Austria). I dove into their BBQ ribs—tender, smoky, and nicely caramelized. Then I tried the Pulled Rip Burger, stacked with juicy rib meat, coleslaw, and melted cheddar—everything felt rich yet balanced. A side of crispy onion rings rounded it out perfectly. Service was laid-back and friendly. They helped me choose size options and sauces without any fuss, and the pace was chill enough to relax. This is comfort food done right—big flavors in a cozy, casual spot with heart. Jack the Ripperl is a must-visit in Linz for anyone who loves ribs done well. I can’t wait to go back for their monthly specials—those look fantastic.

A small, cozy place to enjoy good ribs. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. You can choose the size you prefer—small, medium, or large—and pick from a variety of side dishes, which adds a personalized touch to your dining experience. They also offer a wide range of dressing options, ensuring there's something to suit every palate. The staff is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. It's a delightful spot for a casual diner, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely meal with friends and family

We had succulent fall-off-the-bone ribs and delightful “warm slaw” (sauerkraut infused with bacon). I loved that they served the ribs on a cleaver; it was not necessary for these ribs. The serviettes, wet wipes and bibs, were helpful! What a delightful place for lunch or dinner!

This place gets a big yes from me. I didn't expect it to be as good when I decided to make a reservation, especially since I'm not at all passionate about eating this type of food. But how can you not like it? Especially the dips are amazing. A medium portion was almost too big for us. The service was very attentive. Our waiter really attended to us and double asked at the end if everyone was happy. Also, big like for the boutique.

Nestled on a picturesque hilltop just a short drive from the heart of Linz, Verdi Restaurant & Einkehr is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This establishment is celebrated for its exquisite blend of modern regional and European cuisine, featuring standout dishes like the delectable Wiener schnitzel and innovative offerings such as Riesling sweetbreads.
I thought places like this no longer existed. A family run business where your experience is everything. From the moment you arrive , everything is 6 star service, Michelin quality food , superb environment. A spectacular treat 👌 if you are a foodie who expects the best , this is your place. We loved our experience.

I recently dined at Verdi – Restaurant & Einkehr, perched on the leafy edge of Linz’s forested outskirts. Instantly, I was struck by the balance of modern elegance and rustic charm—reflected in rich woods, soft lighting, and a sense of calm that’s rare in upscale dining. I opted for their tasting menu, each dish a surprising yet harmonious blend of regional Austrian roots and international influence. Highlights included tuna with mango and miso, and braised veal cheeks in a Barolo-red-wine sauce—like Austria meeting Asia with grace and depth. The pacing felt thoughtful, designed to let each flavor bloom. The wine selection was outstanding, with service that was warm and knowledgeable—spot-on for pairing suggestions that elevated every course. Overall, Verdi delivers a refined, contemporary dining experience grounded in authenticity and soul. It’s where culinary ambition meets heartfelt hospitality—certainly a spot I’ll revisit to rediscover flavors and that tranquil evening vibe.

Stunning - a rising star! No Michelin star awarded yet but if it comes to the taste - can make it soon! I selected the "Spring time" menu and was blown away. Not many 1-2 Michelin star rated restaurants have been able to stun me the same way they did. Worth mentioning: Desert were there was "a piece of the forest", Lamb saddle with black olives and white asparragus combined together with harmony, and Artichoke tortelloni with superb earthy flavour with brown truffles, Black salsify and Almthaler char which resembled a smoky steak tartar. After a week or so, I still remember these dishes and their flavour palette. I sure hope to be able to visit them later!

Welcoming owners. Food could be better, we like the concept but the end result was somewhat disappointing. Mashed potatoes were dry, bearnaisesauce wasn't correctly made (too much cream and lemon) , salmon was undercooked, tuna dry and to much pepper. The food took an insanely long time to arrive — and that was with the restaurant practically empty. Makes you wonder what the wait would be like if the place were actually busy. Better plan for at least 1–1.5 hours before your first dish shows up. To top it off, the waiter took my plate away before I was even finished eating. Strange place overall — feels like the high rating might be artificially boosted.

I had the beetroot cordon blue dish which sounds odd but was absolutely delicious. My partner who is normally a total carnivore tried it and thought it was great too. The Alter Dom - Ignatiuskirche, also known as the Old Cathedral, is a monumental 17th-century church with domed towers and an elaborate baroque interior. It served as the city's cathedral from 1785 to 1909 and features a single-nave design with a striking Baroque facade and several chapels. The marble high altar, adorned with a detailed painting by Italian artist Antonio Bellucci, is particularly noteworthy.
Constructed by the Jesuits in 17th century, it was designated a cathedral when Josef II appointed a bishop for Linz. The Jesuits returned in 1909. Anton Bruckner, the composer, worked here as the cathedral organist from 1856–1868 and the organ here was built according to plans by Bruckner and has been preserved to this day.

Florin I — Google review
The service was terrible. Even if the food was good, they did not make us feel welcome. At all. They acted like we were an inconvenience. They list their closing time at 18.30 but when me and my elderly parents arrived at 17.40 the waitress doesn't even greet us but just says "We're closing in 20" like she wanted to discourage us from sitting down. But then other clients arrived at 17.55 and another couple even at 18.05 and they all got to seat and eat, so the place wasn't really closing at 18, she just wanted us to leave? But it doesn't stop there. We stepped inside to take a look at the desserts in the window. We ask the waitress if she can explain what they have left and she replies "what you see there". If I knew what kind of desserts they were I wouldn't be asking. Finally, I asked for a drink that requires whipped cream and she says "we ran out", so I said I was fine to have the same drink without the whipped cream, she asked me to repeat like that wasn't an option. In the end it turned out they did have some whipped cream left, once again it looked like she initially wanted to discourage me from ordering it because it was a slightly complicated drink to make. Or at least that was my impression after the very poor overall treatment. I wonder if they weren't that famous if they could afford to treat their clients like this? I would honestly recommend trying Jindrak instead of this one.

I've been coming here for about 3 years now and I just find it perfect for me. Each Saturday the Herrenstrasse Breakfast is my choice for 9.90 with coffee (you pay elsewhere 4 euro just for a cappuccino), the Pommes mit Wurst are amazing (fitness center is just across, so no bad feelings about enjoying it) and the Club Sandwich is not the classical one you expect, but is so much BETTER. I cannot comment on the bad sevice as so far everyone was friendly. I can imagine sometimes for lunch things can get hectic, but this is not a fast-food concept with ready made bowls and curries so, honestly, before giving 1 star for something they are not offering (they offer clearly on order freshly-made food) I would pick my lunch sonewhere else. I give 5 stars because this place deserves it and should continue to exists for those who appreciate their food concept.

I have to say the food was very good, fresh ingredients, many options including low carb ones, my only complain is that they charged us 1,20€ for a glass of tap water. Tap water. You know the liquid coming out of the sink? From the menu it looked like mineral water would cost 0,90€ per glass, which can be acceptable, but then why would you charge more for tap water? Mystery. Quite uncalled for. I never paid so much for water in my life.

Menu with lots of choices, but unfortunately most are healthy or vegan, certainly not my cup of tea. The items we did like were (obviously) sold out. Food was ok.

I was so impressed by this place. We arrived for dinner at around 19:00 and had the “bratwurst” (vegan) bowl and “bratwurst” fries. Both were so delicious I didn’t even take a photo. The waiter was so friendly and asked where we were from and spoke English to us when we’re clearly struggling with our German. He even gave us these Easter eggs which we are to smash together on Easter in a few days. Food, wine, service, and interior are all 10/10. If we’re ever back in Linz, we’ll definitely come back. (Photo of the Easter eggs below)

Nice building to see from both the outside and inside, but the exhibitions are not the best in my opinion. The topics always are interesting but the exhibits are often rather boring to see and sometimes do not seem to be related to the exhibition topics. Rather make a stroll through the park around the building itself.

Excellent coffee and really good Tartlets. The outside area of the café was (understandably) packed when we arrived but it was a nice spring day, so we opted to plop on the stairs instead of sitting inside even though its super cozy there. I ordered a cold brew made with beans that were more on the acidic side, and the coffee had a fruity acidity but with quite a balanced acidity and a light mouthfeel. Can definitely recommend the place! Drop by for sure if you're in the area!

Possibly the best Cappuccino I had in Linz. Very creamy, with nice flavour. They use special coffee, not one of those mass produced generic brands with bland taste. Cake was also good, really homemade and natural feeling. The service is friendly, polite and attentive. Bonus points are for toilets. Clean, neat, comfy with good smell, with even a bit stylish design.

Best coffee in Linz, beautiful place and very pleasant staff. I loved the flat white and ice espresso tonic, that I ordered. The cake was delicious. It was possible to pay by card. We will come surely again.

Little cozy coffee shop in the heart of Linz. For me personally, not so many places in Linz offer delicious coffee, this one does. I am glad I discovered it recently, will be a regular visitor there. I just wish they were open on Sunday!
Olga — Google review
This place is a keeper at first sight. It's beautifully decorated and arranged, very pleasant for a coffee. However, it doesn't have many options for food, no savory stuff, and the staff was pressuring too much after I finished my meal. I went there because it was recommended to sit and work a bit, but certainly the place is not open to that. In that case, the big table doesn't make that much sense if everything you can do is drink a coffee. The cheesecake was good and the coffee was normal, not exceptional.
Valeria D — Google review
Beautiful cafe, lovely to sit both inside and outside. Amazing friendly staff, great fresh cakes and the best coffee in Linz! Would highly recommend.
Lachlan S — Google review
Wonderful coffee and vegan cake. Great service.
Dr S — Google review
Linz coffee is quite terrible with just a few exceptions - this is one of them. They have 3rd wave coffee - flat white - cup sizes are typical Italian. They know how to steam the milk properly - micro foam. The roast is lighter and a bit more fruity than Italian roast. If you love typical Italian this is the closest you’ll get in Linz, if you love the lighter, fruity roasts this will probably satisfy you. The atmosphere here is great, service is friendly and nice. It’s a great place to get work done - WiFi is good, and it’s a very cozy place with both lounge style set ups for casual conversations and table, and hightop bar style for productivity. Some sweet treats available if that’s your thing.

Visitors can enjoy various activities such as football, beach volleyball, or simply taking a leisurely walk or bike ride along the scenic tracks leading to the lake. Families can also make use of dedicated play areas for children.
This is a great lake! Perfect for a walk and to chill! The lake is frozen in winter, and when you throw a stone onto the ice, it makes a weird sound! There are lots of mallards in the lake, and that's cool. In spring, you can also find duck eggs in the bushes! You can also, of course, swim in the lake. The water quality isn't bad for a lake without a current or a river. The restaurant near the lake is also great! There is also a playground for the kids. A part of the lake is fenced for the nudist zone, which means you can't really walk all around the lake. Overall, this is a great lake, and you should definitely come here!

Despite being over 130 years old, the tower remains solid and sturdy, providing an unsurpassed view of the city, river, and surrounding hilly lands from its top platform. Nikolay A — Google review
OK for a building 130+ years old this tower remains solid and sturdy so only a fear of heights will keep you away from the top platform from which you will enjoy an unsurpassed, sweeping view if the city, the river and hilly lands all around. I counted 126 steps. As a bonus, the large park grounds feature huge trees(labeled!) and an effort by the city to encourage the return of native plant life. In early stage now, the flourishing of so many different, and lovely, plants is heart warming. Walk to the tower from the main town square, yes it's uphill but for old knees, walking downhill hurts more, so catch the bus for the return ride to Taubenmk stop. I suppose you could take the bus both ways.

voestalpine Stahlwelt - Ausstellung & Museum is located in the former tobacco factory Tabakfabrik, now a creative hub in Linz. The museum offers interactive exhibits showcasing the steel manufacturing process and features a cafe. Visitors can marvel at polished spheres that change colors and even see an iron meteorite on display. The museum also provides samples of minerals used in steel production and explanations of the manufacturing process throughout its well-presented exhibition.
The polished spheres alone with the changing colors could keep me engaged for hours. Do you want to see an iron meteorite? They’ve got one here. Samples of the minerals used in and explanations of the steel making process are found throughout this museum. The curved stairways as you go up to a new level are fun to move fast on:). On the day we visited a Christmas market set up just outside of the museum.

What a great museum to visit, even for me, who is quite far from this business. Exposition is nicely arranged, extremely informative and interactive. What a nice use of space! The exhibition really gives insight into how steel is made, and there is even a tour of the whole facility. The building is pretty small, but inside it's really well designed, so it feels larger. And they have the coolest elevator I've ever seen!

The factory tour was great, even for someone who's far removed from this industry. The biggest part is done by bus, and the guide shows you around the area and explains everything thoroughly. This bar is a total scam. On every table they place menus with lower prices, but when it’s time to pay, the waiter suddenly brings out a “new” menu where the exact same drinks and food cost up to 5€ more. It’s dishonest, misleading, and basically stealing from customers. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being ripped off.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful 🤩 The history of the country house goes back to 1563. At the southern exit, out to what was then Linz's suburb, there was once a mighty moat that protected the castle-like country house from all kinds of uninvited guests (today this thankless task is carried out by a security service including an X-ray tunnel). A simple wooden bridge initially led over the moat, then a stone bridge from 1632 onwards, which was replaced by a wider and more sophisticated one in 1769. The 15 meter long and six meter wide transition with three arches was visually very appealing and plastered with white lime mortar - almost a touch of Tuscany!

The team was very welcoming, Kritzi did a fantastic job, very passionate and this made our game even more immersive! The room we did was the Egypt, their first room which was really well made, good fun! We are very curious to see the other ones! Merci beaucoup!

Best Escape room I've visited so far. We did the "Villa des Wahnsinns" / "Maison of Madness" which takes around 100 minutes and thus is considerably longer compared to usual Escape rooms. It was a unique experience and we had a great time there. The staff was super nice and helpful.

I have been to plenty of escape rooms, and this one made it into the top 3 of all the escape rooms I visited in Austria. There's room for improvement, sure, but the riddles were great and a bit different than usual. The staff did a really good job in entertaining and story telling. They are also helpful and friendly.

The Ursuline Church of St. Michael is a stunning Roman Catholic church with two towers, constructed in the 18th century and boasting an elaborate baroque interior. It stands out as one of the oldest churches in Austria still in use, dating back to the 8th century and featuring a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements. Despite its small size, this hidden gem offers a rich history waiting to be explored.
Ursuline Church dedicated to Archangel Michael, built between in the 18th century for the local Ursulines. Beautifully ornate in the baroque style.

The church is located on the main street. Honestly, it’s not much different from other churches of this kind. The entrance doors are a bit creepy - they open by themselves to let you in! Before visiting, I read in a guidebook that you can go up to a viewing platform. I found an open staircase, but it only goes up to the second floor - the doors there were locked. Too bad. I’d really like to know if it’s actually possible to get to the top.

The inside of the cathedral is gorgeous. It is an impressive cathedral that the Blessed Virgin Mary is looking at us.

(Translated by Google) The church is magnificent inside. A lot of gold and other decorations. It was difficult to approach the altar, there was a ceiling inside, but it was not high. It is a pity that it is impossible to see the side decoration. (Original) Церква пишна всередині. Багато золота та іншого оздоблення. Підійти до алтаря було неиожливо, було перекриття всередині, але невисоке. Шкода, що неможливо роздивитись бічне оздоблення.

(Translated by Google) Chic place of worship. Maybe a little unnoticed compared to the cathedral. But definitely worth seeing. Stop by and enjoy the peace and quiet from everyday life and the sometimes hectic city. (Original) Schickes Gotteshaus. Vielleicht etwas unbeachtet im Vergleich zum Dom. The Landestheater Linz - Musiktheater is Europe's most modern opera house, offering a breathtaking atmosphere for enjoying musical masterpieces. The venue, which opened in April 2013, boasts impressive architecture that aims to achieve sound equity for all seats. While some visitors have noted the need for improvement in the surround system to ensure detailed sound reaches every corner of the theater, it remains a top-notch venue for experiencing ambitious and well-performed productions like Romeo & Juliet.
Fine modern opera house with large, well equipped stage and a good-size pit. Comfortable auditorium and plenty of space to mingle. Superb performance of Butterfly (orchestra & singers of international standard) - thoroughly enjoyable.
Peter K — Google review
There are a lot of great performances. Only thing needs to be improve is Surround system. The speaker doesn't deliver all the detailed sound. The emotion has to be delivered with volume sound does not efficiently reach to us. In modern era, the architecture almost achieved the sound equity to all seat. Only the visual accessibility is different. I felt sorry for the great performance didn't reached to all seat by the great quality sound. They would get more praise from the audience. But thx to all the well organized support and performance. I am happy to be an audience in music theater.

Carmelite Convent Linz is a stunning church with a white interior that beautifully contrasts with the golden hues of the altar and picture frames. The architecture is a masterpiece, leaving visitors in awe. The live music during special programs adds to the enchanting atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the beauty of the confessional and find the mass to be truly beautiful, often attending every time they are in Linz.
Historic church built in the Baroque style, with beautiful stuccos and statues, enjoyed visiting.

The architecture is a masterpiece and the awe is breathtaking. I enjoyed the music, it was like a live band. I guess it's because it was a special programme though, I ain't expecting same every Sunday. 😏

The Minoritenkirche, also known as the Landhauskirche, is a charming cathedral located in the old town of Linz. It has a rich history dating back to 1236 when Franciscans resided there. The church's fate saw it transition from a convent to being used by the state estates and later by the Jesuits for services. This baroque church is directly linked to the Landhaus, which serves as the seat of Upper Austria's parliament and government.
My absolutely favorite Roman Catholic church in Linz. Representing the Rococo style, or the Late Baroque, it shows off exceptionally ornamental and dramatic interior with scrolling curves, gilding, white and pink colors and sculpted moulding to the fullest.

For the very first time, since I live in Austria, I have seen priest in the cassock, praying his breviary, very unusual but at the same time very meaningful. I shall come to see this Barock church again.

(Translated by Google) The Minorite Church in Linz looks back on an eventful fate: Franciscans lived here as early as 1236. With the Reformation and the ban on accepting novices, the convent collapsed. The emperor gave the convent buildings to the state estates, which built the state parliament here in the middle of the 16th century. The Jesuits held services here at the beginning of the 17th century. Franciscans followed again until Emperor Joseph II, of unfortunate memory, abolished the convent and transferred the monastery back to the state government, while the church, now furnished in the Rococo style, became a branch church of the city parish. It has been looked after by the St. Peter's Brotherhood for several decades. This means that the liturgy is celebrated in the traditional Latin rite.
