Christuskirche, also known as Christ Church, is a historic German Lutheran church located in Windhoek, Namibia. It is a prominent landmark and symbol of the city, featuring a distinctive design that combines neo-Gothic and art nouveau styles. The church was constructed from local sandstone and completed in 1910, with its unique architecture making it the oldest Lutheran church in Namibia.
The place is nice and a fantastic destination for tourists also there is a museum Infront of the church peoples can visit 2 things in 1 scadule. The place is save to walk as well.

Beautiful old building. Very clean and well-kept gardens. Especially beautiful at sunset when the sun reflects off the stone walls. It's definitely worth a visit to take some nice pictures or to join a tour of the property, where very insightful information and history are shared with tourists. The Church is not open for tours every day, so be sure to double-check if you want to visit specific to attemd the tour.
Jay J — Google review
Unfortunately the building is not open on alternative week days so we could not enter on a Wednesday. Very neat and well maintained. The site is a tourist trap and the pushy informal vendors will be happy to fleece you. It is located adjacent to the Independence museum and a rather sorry looking National museum of Namibia.

Christuskirche is one of the most iconic landmarks of Windhoek, standing proudly in the heart of the city. Built in the early 20th century during the German colonial period, the church’s architecture is a striking blend of Gothic and Neo-Romanesque elements. Its reddish sandstone walls, white decorative details, and tall pointed steeple make it impossible to miss for anyone visiting the capital. More than just a religious site, Christuskirche reflects the multicultural history of Windhoek. Its central location, surrounded by the Parliament Gardens and government buildings, creates a historic square-like atmosphere where visitors often gather to admire the scenery, take photos, and learn about Namibia’s past. Inside, the church offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere, highlighted by beautiful stained-glass windows and a simple yet elegant interior design. Today, it serves both as a place of worship and as a popular tourist attraction, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. Christuskirche is therefore not only a church but also a cultural and historical treasure. With its architectural grace and deep historical significance, it perfectly captures the spirit of Windhoek and remains a must-see for anyone exploring Namibia’s capital.
YUSUF G — Google review
Historic gem perched in the city. Christ Church is situated in an area concentrated with other popular tourist attractions such as Independence Memorial Museum and Tintenpalast. I have never been inside, however lovely to admire from the outside. It is kind of in the middle of the road allowing one to admire it from different angles.

Gorgeous! The gentleman that was at the church greeting guests was lovely and fluent in English, Afrikaans and German. Very courteous. The church is magnificent and very well cared for. I was sightseeing alone and felt very comfortable when arriving. The guys guarding the cars and selling there crafts were very helping in directing me to other tourist spots in walking distance.

The Independence Museum is a showcase of local resistance to colonialism situated within socialist-realist architecture. Admission is free and visitors begin their journey with a see-through elevator ride to the first floor, followed by a self-guided tour through displays of statues, artifacts, clothing and artwork. The top floors offer stunning views of the city at night, along with a restaurant for refreshments. An in-house guide can provide further insight into the exhibits and enhance visitors' experience.
The Independence Memorial Museum is a history museum in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. It focuses on the anti-colonial resistance and the national liberation movement of Namibia. Nice place to see

It's a good place to visit to know the independence history of Namibia. The history starts all the way from early 1900s into the modern era. Has some unique emblems and badges. Most of the history is told through paintings. The view from the restraunt is pretty good.
Thilipan S — Google review
Very vivid and educational experience at this museum. Loved the statue of their founding President at the entrance to the location. It set a good tone for what's contained in the building.
Magneticaims — Google review
We visited the Independence Museum on a Sunday and unfortunately, it was closed. However, what made up for it was the Windhoek Sky Restaurant on the 4th floor of this beautiful monument, which afforded 360 degree views of Windhoek City in style and elegance. The restaurant is really breathing and unfortunately, we couldn't have food there as our itinerary was tight and only had drinks from such wonderful and professional waiters.
Nthabiseng M — Google review
Beautiful building, overlooking the CBD. Especially beautiful during sunset with the sunset reflecting on the walls. With a museum depicting the independance history of Namibie, it is well worth the visit. Be sure to check the times when the museum is open for visitors to attend.

The National Independence Museum in Namibia is an essential stop for anyone interested in delving deep into the country’s rich history and the journey towards independence. From its modest exterior, the museum unfolds into a treasure trove of artifacts, documents, and interactive exhibits that paint a vivid picture of Namibia’s struggle for freedom and its post-independence development. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by knowledgeable staff who provide insightful introductions to the exhibits and are eager to answer any questions. The museum’s layout is intuitive, guiding guests through chronological displays that cover key events leading up to Namibia’s independence in 1990. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, showcasing the resilience and determination of the Namibian people in their quest for self-determination. From poignant photographs capturing pivotal moments in history to personal testimonies from freedom fighters, each display offers a compelling narrative that educates and inspires. One highlight is the replica of the United Nations Security Council chamber, where visitors can learn about the international efforts to end apartheid in Namibia. Another standout feature is the section dedicated to post-independence development, which provides insight into the challenges and successes of building a new nation. Interactive elements, such as multimedia presentations and touch-screen displays, engage visitors of all ages and learning styles, making the museum experience both informative and enjoyable. Additionally, the museum regularly hosts events, lectures, and temporary exhibitions that further enrich the visitor experience. Overall, the National Independence Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of Namibia’s past, present, and future. It serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Namibian people and their unwavering commitment to freedom and progress.

Zoo Park, located in Windhoek, is a green area within the city that features a pond, playground and obelisk dedicated to German colonial history. It's an ideal spot for relaxation and taking a break from daily routines. We highly recommend everyone in Windhoek to make time for visiting Zoo Park.
Safe to sit, relax during the day. There is a Portuguese restaurant for refreshments. You also get photographers in the park.

Wonderfull park, although the little pond or stream of running water has been shut down. The public restrooms are in need of a very big upgrade. Above all else, pleasant experience!!!
Rhino B — Google review
A nice park in the city center but with high safety concerns. I visited in the late afternoon and as a female solo traveller, it was not a comfortable place to be. Tried to stay as much as I can to enjoy it, but always felt safer closer to Independence Avenue, could not go inside. Lots of teenagers and male youngesters drinking beer and wine, also smelt weeds. You can spot some birds there.
Merham K — Google review
It was good to see the park but only walked through because I could see empty beer bottles and smell urine. Great idea, great location, great old tree but probably not the best place to hang out in Windhoek.
Magneticaims — Google review
A calm and peaceful park located in the center of Windhoek. Children play here while people relax on the lawns. On my first day in Windhoek, I took it easy at the café inside the park. Since you pass by often while walking around the city, next time I might grab a sandwich and enjoy it while relaxing on the grass.

Idk..but if there's anything i can do to turn this place into what it was then please just let me know..

Maerua Mall is a spacious shopping complex consisting of various retail stores offering clothing and electronic items. Additionally, it has a cinema, food court, and play area for children making it an ideal one-stop-shop for all your requirements as a traveler. The mall is neither too big nor too small; hence finding the merchandise you need is not difficult. The Checkers store in the mall provides excellent services, and Foodlovers market cafe serves delicious breakfast options.
Great mall with many stores and activities inside. Very clean and safe, two grocery stores and a large food court! Two stories with a lot of shopping options. Probably Windhoek’s largest mall!
Canyoudoanybetter — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This mall is honestly one of the best places I’ve ever visited! It’s not just a shopping center ,it’s a complete experience. Whether you’re looking to spend a relaxing day with friends, enjoy some quality family time, or simply treat yourself, this mall has something for everyone. The range of stores is incredible , with affordable clothing shops and everything in between. I also really appreciated the well-stocked grocery stores that made it easy to grab both essentials and specialty items. It’s super convenient to get all your shopping done in one place. But what really sets this mall apart is the entertainment. There are cinemas, gaming zones, fun activities for kids, and even occasional live performances. You’ll never be bored here. The food court is also impressive, offering a wide variety of cuisines from all over the world ,whether you’re in the mood for a quick snack or a sit-down meal, you’ll find plenty of options. On top of all that, the design of the mall is just stunning. It’s spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with natural lighting and stylish architecture that makes walking around a pleasure. Definitely worth a visit ,it’s more than just a mall, it’s a destination.
Joliane N — Google review
Don't like the parking arrangement but the 4x4 parking spaces are awesome. The mall needs to be more open (old section) New extention looks great...now for the rest.
Leana T — Google review
Its a mall, like any other. Nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. Retail outlets, movies, entertainment and restaurants. What I do like though is the 4x4 only parking. That is awesome
Rupert V — Google review
One of Windhoek's three big malls, it has most of the usual clothing, retail, fresh produce, tech, furniture, a cinema, games arena, speciality goods to a wide variety of fast food outlets, coffee shops and restaurants. There's ample parking. Chances are if you can't find what you're looking for at the other two malls, you'll find it here.
Nolito M — Google review
The Maerua Mall offers a wide variety of shops catering to various tastes and preferences, and it also features an indoor kids' play park, making it a great destination for families looking to entertain their little ones. I found the mall's layout to be a bit confusing. Navigating from one end to the other felt like strange, and it took me a while to get my bearings. Another downside was the numerous flickering ceiling lights throughout the mall. It created a bit of an unpleasant atmosphere. Overall, Maerua Mall is a good option for shopping if it's your closest mall and you need access to a variety of shops.
Dewald R — Google review
The second largest shopping mall in Windhoek, offers almost everything from food, clothes and entertainment, have the best restaurants I have ever seen with great deal of menu which are also affordable. There is a cinema with latest movies one can enjoy and they always have a half price every Tuesday. The mall is very clean and located not so far from the city centre, its also noticeable on the road.

Convenient, not crowded, safe and has all the shops that you might need. And new restaurants coming. Now with more restaurants.

The Avis Dam Nature Reserve, situated in Namibia's Windhoek district, features an extensive grassy reserve providing a multitude of hiking and mountain biking trails. The area is home to a diverse range of bird species that can be observed while exploring the park's pathways. Completed in 1933, the Avis Dam is one of the smallest reservoirs in Namibia with a capacity of approximately 2.4 million m³.
A very enjoyable hike around the dam. It is just very sad to see how the drought has diminished the dam. Still a lovely walk and view from the top of the hill.

So many trails to explore. Each day a new adventure. Safe parking space with friendly and reliable guards at the entrance from 7am to 6pm in the winter. You can easily walk trails for more than 12km.

I have been walking my dogs in the reserve ,almost daily, for many years. A network of well laid out trails lead around the dam. Friendly security staff are placed around main walking trails. The dam wall itself is paved making it accessible for wheelchairs.

Was here last week Sunday. Nice place still inside Windhoek. Quiet and relaxing. One star lost because people dont remove dirt from their dogs. Is everywhere especially around entrance. Dog keepers should be advised to care.

The Avis dam is a dam in Namibia, on the eastern edge of the Windhoek district called Avis. The Avis dam was completed in 1933. Its reservoir has a capacity of about 2.4 million m³, making the Avis Reservoir one of the smallest reservoirs in Namibia. The Avis Dam is fed by two rivers and drained by the Klein-Windhoek river. It is located in a popular recreational area of the Erosberge. It was originally designed to serve as a sustainable drinking water reservoir for Windhoek.

Get back into nature without even leaving town! Very basic, and there are dangers (wild animals are still present and being close to town means that you might get mugged if you visit at an odd hour) but with the security guards present during the day, you are safe to wander around. Perched on a high vantage point overlooking Windhoek's central business district, Alte Feste was once a fortress for the Schutztruppe and the headquarters of the German colonial military force in Namibia. Now transformed into a national museum, it offers an insightful journey through Namibia's history from German occupation in 1884 to the struggles of the Herero and Nama people against colonial rule.
Government should have maintained such a history oriented building. It looks like an old building.

(Translated by Google) Once one of Windhoek's main attractions, it is now consciously and intentionally left to decay, although donations have been received for the restoration. A visit is only possible from outside. The former museum is no longer accessible. German history should probably be suppressed. The well-known equestrian monument is located in the inner courtyard of the festival, but is not accessible to the public without its base. A friendly security guard kindly let me take a look inside.

(Translated by Google) It's a shame that the old fortress is closed. When we wanted to visit the museum in the exaggerated, magnificent building on Sunday, it was also closed. Incomprehensible, as this would be an opportunity to raise money during the weekend to maintain both museums. The old fortress is falling into disrepair and the German rider is no longer accessible. It's a shame if history isn't preserved. Once it has expired, nothing can bring it back.

(Translated by Google) Bad. Very bad. I visited the Alte Feste Museum back in 1971. It was really beautiful back then, but today it's just a dilapidated building. Soon it will be used as a bazaar for the Craft Centre Namibia. It seems as if the SWAPO government wants to forget everything from before 1990 that has nothing to do with the struggle for independence. Poor Namibia. The only glimmer of hope is that the fortress will soon be renovated, and then it will be open to visitors again. Unfortunately, it will only be used as a junk shop and no longer as a colonial museum. (Original) Schlimm. Sehr schlimm.
Florian G — Google review
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, it's just an empty shell. The courtyard is covered in tall grass...a few broken cannons. The rider can only be seen through a tiny window. The items from the museum are in some storage facility. It's a shame...it's not African history...but it could be a place of encounter, and history is timeless and not political. Great memories in Swakop and Lüderitz. (Original) Leider nur noch ein leeres Gerippe. Der Hof mit hohem Gras....ein paar kaputte Kanonen. Der Reiter nur durch ein Minifenster zu erahnen. Daan Viljoen Game Reserve is a picturesque reserve that showcases an array of grazing wildlife and offers sweeping views, making it an ideal location for hiking trails. The park also features clean facilities and friendly staff.
Beautiful game reverse just outside Windhoek. Ticket to enter is fair. You can walk by yourself around the park looking for some animals: lot of giraffes, gnus and also some monkeys. Do not miss the 4x4 road on the left just after the main gate

I recently visited Daan Viljoen and had an unforgettable experience. The chalets provided a comfortable stay, and the friendly service, especially from Aaron, added a personal touch to our trip. The restaurant served delicious food, and enjoying drinks by the pool throughout the day was a highlight. The presence of animals wandering around enhanced the bush experience, though visitors should be cautious about baboons. Overall, Daan Viljoen offers a perfect blend of nature, comfort, and excellent service. Highly recommended for a memorable getaway!

Lovely place, but no day visitors allowed in lodge, restaurant or camping site. Day visitors can hike and do 4x4 route.

Definitely a beautiful place to hike. Path could have been marked a bit clearer. No Day Visitors in the Camping area. Also a bit on the pricey side just to hike. Pay per car and per person.
Werner S — Google review
We did the detour drive just for fun very few animals but it looks like there was a veld fire so that is understandable the route is 4X2 friendly as long as its a high rider i loved everyminute and we saw some animals i think you might see more at dawn and dusk when its cooler and the animals start roaming. Very nice experience will be back for spring or autumn when the veld recovered from the fire fully.
