After un long (cold) day, we going at 15h to eat. We take schintzel and curry wurst wit 2 delicious beer of their brewery. The dishes were big enough and really good. The wait was normal. When we pay the server ask only cash, it should be annouced please.

The food was very good but not the best in the town. We had very good service by a friendly waiter. The best food we had was salad. The schnitzel was only ok and the obazta plate was yummy. The building is new and well decorated with a good ambience. I will come back.

Absolutely top experience! Highly recommended! The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered a pumpkin soup as a starter, it was perfect. Then, I had the 1/2 duck - honestly, the best duck I've ever had, having lived in Germany for over 5 years now and that being one of my favourite dishes. Also to be noticed is that the dumpling ("Knödel"), which I find delicious when homemade but awful in restaurants, was also wonderful. Quality/price is top notch and definitely worth a trip from Munich. Ps. I haven't tried the beers as I was driving, but they seem to be excellent too, all by a local brewery.

Great food, nice space, very good service. Although I couldn't order the Haxe, the waitress allowed me to order wiener Schnitzel but served with the Knödel instead of pommes. Great choice. The Schnitzel is big, crunchy yet juicy. The Knödel is the best one I ever tried. If you prefer Schnitzel to Haxe (it's too big for some people), then that's a good alternative. Besides, the weizen beer tastes very good.

Good food,great place to rest and take a break,stunning view.👍 Even if there are lot of people around it’s quiet and very relaxing to sit and enjoy your beer. The waitress was attentive and kind. We had just the main dishes with salads and non alcoholic beer from the tap. I had pork in demi glaze with stewed red cabbage and a potato dumpling,and my husband had a pork knuckle which he described as the best he had on our trip. We enjoyed our meal very much as everything was so well balanced with flavor and spices. Definitely a place I would recommend as it’s far from the crowd and such a relaxing spot with very good food.

We randomly stopped by at mittenwald after a road trip to find some food and found this restaurant who has Kaiserschmarrn on the menu. We decided to give a try since the reviews of this resto were pretty good. Turns out we didn’t disappoint at all 🥹🫶🏻. The pancake was sooooo delicious, even my bestfriend’s husband who is German, also said that this one was pretty legit. The only thing that perhaps needs an improvement was about the service. There were two staffs who served us last time, the young guy was super friendly and helpful, however the lady was a bit rude to us when she brought the food to our table ☹️. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was super lovely in this restaurant, both sitting indoor and outdoor, and we still enjoy our time eating in here. We definitely would recommend everyone to visit and specifically try their Kaiserschmarrn 🤍

The portions are very generous — especially if you don’t have a big appetite, one dish is more than enough to share. Overall, the Schweinshaxe was crispy, slightly salty, but absolutely delicious Overall quick and welcoming service.

We ate local food and drank Mittenwald Beer(local beer) which were excellent. Service and staff were very good. Totally recommend.

This restaurant is exceptional. It has an old school feel, great staff and the food was delicious. We had a large party with varied ages and everyone truly enjoyed their meals. Strongly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Good location but some rooms may be quite noisy with the restaurant guests at night and also the frequent Church's bell. The hotel is rustic-style with beautiful facades, staffs were helpful and the food at the hotel is very tasty with very pleasant waiters/waitresses. Music in the weekends. +delicious breakfast.

We did not stay at this hotel but ate dinner at the restaurant 2 of the 3 nights in Mittenwald. Schnitzel was wonderful, service was great and prices reasonable. Couldn’t ask for more, and it was definitely the busiest and most popular restaurant on this pedestrian street. Highly recommend.

I had a night booked at the guesthouse, and had read that the restaurant was recommended, so I decided to make a reservation. Food was really delicious. The Zander filet with potatoes was very tasty, and I’m not even a fan of boiled potatoes. The location was perfect, as it is situated in the middle of town. Friendly and lively atmosphere.

This is a really lovely, traditional gasthof in the middle of a beautiful town. It seemed to be the life and soul of the area with a live band and busy table area out the front. We had a small double room, which had a large bed in it. Everything was clean but possibly looked a little tired. We parked in their garage for free, which was really useful. It was quite a warm evening and our window only opened a little, so unfortunately the room was really hot! The nearby church bells also chimed every 15 minutes, so sleep wasn’t something we got very much of! That aside, if you want to stay somewhere authentic, this is a great place and the staff are really friendly.

We (me, my 9 year old son and my husband) sat down at a table outside but wasn't served after 20 minutes, so we left. All the servers definitely saw us (I even said hi to one of them and they were cleaning tables right next to us) but no one came to give us a menu or talk to us. Not sure if it's related but they definitely know we don't speak German (I look East Asian and I was speaking English with my husband and son). They were serving other German speaking customers.

Right. I must be frightfully honest: I've never really thought of myself as a fan of German food. It's always felt a bit... well, you know. So there I was in the Alpenrose, menu in hand after a long hike, feeling a bit out of my depth. My eyes fell upon a section titled 'Wildgerichte'—Game Dishes, my rather shaky German informed me. "Well," I thought, "when in the mountains..." and decided to be adventurous. I chose the "Hunter's Feast of all fine things," and... my word. What arrived was a complete and utter triumph. It was this magnificent platter: venison medallions and a roast, both impossibly tender. A 'chamois ragout'—which, after a quiet bit of research, I believe is a sort of goat-antelope creature. Sounds terribly rugged, tasted utterly divine. All of this came with lovely little egg spaetzle, the most marvellous mushrooms in a creamy sauce, a bit of crisp grilled bacon... and then, the masterstroke: a filled pear. A pear! A surprising and quite brilliant touch. In short, the meal was inventive, elegant, and genuinely unforgettable. It has completely recalibrated what I thought German cuisine could be. An exceptional experience from start to finish.

We had a great dinner at this Italian restaurant in Mittenwald. The menu has lots of choices—from starters like veal and carpaccio to plenty of pizzas. We ordered the Calzone and it was really tasty, with a nice crispy crust and rich filling. For the main dishes, there are plenty to choose from too—like filet steak, veal with mushroom sauce, and a fish platter. Everything we tried was fresh and well-prepared. The vibe was relaxed. I would definitely recommend if you’re in town and in the mood for Italian food.

One of the best places to have Italian food. The pasta Bolognese was amazing. And the best part is the Panacotta !! The taste and the preparation of this dish is fantastic. Highly recommended !

Looking at the great reviews, I stopped by. But the food was not the best Italian I ever had, it was delicately made. Gnocchi was extremely creamy and cream is all you can taste. Pasta was tasty, but extremely salty. With few tweaks, everything could have been better, maybe i went on a bad day of service.

Was a very great dining experience. The staff was welcoming and kind. The food was fantastic and had unique offerings. The red sauce was perfectly spiced and flavorful. Would highly recommend.

A great place to visit for Bavarian history

I went there for dinner with my friends. The place is family run and very attentive. It’s recommended to book your table in advance. The food is great and delicious. Huge portion. They have a shop to sell local snapps and goodies. Highly recommended. Great view of Mittenwald too.

We took a vacation to Germany near the end of October. This was our first stay for three days. The view from the balcony was amazing. The staff was very nice and professional (we were the only Americans staying there). Town was very accessible, you walk through some farm land and make your way down around 3/4 of a mile. Twice we came in at night and felt perfectly safe walking the 3/4 mile back to our rooms. I would highly recommend staying here!

Sadly we only stayed for one night (which we regretted as soon as we arrived). This is such a beautiful spot! Rooms were clean and modern, spectacular view and excellent service. We especially loved the bells from the nearby goats! We are very keen to visit again!

Have only eaten here, but the rooms and package deals look luxurious. Restaurant is amazing. Servers are friendly and fast. Food is great. Outside terrace seating has spectacular views of the valley below. Plenty of free parking available and hikes nearby if you need to walk off a few of your tasty morsels.

I enjoyed this place. The scenery is beautiful! However, our dinner was very slow in being served. The very lovely waitress tried to blame it on an electricity problem in the kitchen. Not sure how accurate that was since tables around us that were seated later than ours were being served their full meals. I am okay with mistakes. Just own them. Otherwise, my lamb shank was amazing.

If you only came here for the views, you certainly wouldn’t be disappointed, but may need oxygen. Ask for the menu, and you’ll think it’s Christmas whatever time of year you did: memorable dishes; signature desserts; every cake a ‘birthday’ treat and perfect service. Better not say too much about the beverages as many people will drive there as it’s a little off the beaten track. Don’t miss it if you’re within 30 kilometers.

Went there for dinner from a nearby parking area where I slept over night. Dinner was delicious, view from the terrace on the Karwendel was stunningly beautiful. :)

A Michelin starred restaurant with a dining experience that lives up to it. The chef personally came to our table before each course to explain what was next. The food was truly amazing.

We were welcomed by the wonderful host as well as the chef. The aperitif was excellent as well as the alcohol free option. The food ! Omg the food outstanding quality, impeccable presentation. The dishes had the best balance I’ve tasted in years. Perfectly seasoned and each element on every dish was there to blend together into a wonderful oral symphony. The service throughout was attentive yet not overbearing. After an 8hour drive from Berlin it was the so refreshing to be taken so well care of. Congratulations to the Chef. So kind and so humble. Congratulations to everyone working there. And a shoutout to the guy who cleaned the miniature radishes that came with the bread. Thank you Nancy and Andreas for taking care of us.

They got one Michelin star for the kitchen and it is a very good kitchen indeed. Simple and delicious food, very German but at the same time very light, exquisite, and tastefully served. The place itself is not very pretentious too, you can waltz in in your jeans and nobody would mind it.

Is was a mixed experience actually. The atmosphere inside is super, the service is fast but so fast that you can‘t even feel that the waitress are listening to your requirements. This way they didn‘t even hear me that the glass of water I was ordering is for the baby and we need it not ice cold. The cordon bleu and the schnitzel we ordered were full of Mc‘Donalds quality fried potatoes - very salty and frozen ones, the meat inside was tough as well. The small mixed salads that goes together with the main dishes were super good with lots of mayonnaise sause. We were in a hurry to finish our dinner since our table was booked from 5:30 until 7:00pm and another guest were coming to replace us after 7pm. So, we felt like we are on a conveyor belt…. I wouldn‘t recommend it if you are looking for some healthy and pleasant experience.

Great reataurant, the food was super tasty, very big plates. We loved the potato pancakes with the apple souce. The service was warm and kind. they did not know much english, But we mannaged. Highly recommended!

It was such an authentic experience! They had a great selection of local beers. Everything we ordered tasted so good. Noone really spoke English but they were very welcoming and warm! Portions were very German like so come with an appetite!

Went into the restaurant for lunch. The staff didn't care for good service. The worst schnitzel I had in my life... The pork steak smelled like a barn, the mushroom sauce had uncooked mushrooms topped with a thick layer of cheese. All of it was tasteless. When we gave immediate feedback, the staff didn't bother. Never again.

Spacious, clean rooms but a bit dated with dim lighting. No coffee / tea or kettle provided in room but staff was kind to give when asked. Low floor rooms were a bit noisy. Hearty breakfast with a good spread. Staff was very helpful even though overwhelmed with a lot of guests. Location is great right in the heart of town and 5 mins away from station.

Place is a bit old, but the owner is a very friendly woman. She only speaks German though, so if you know a bit of German it will come handy. The apartement is on a good location from all the main attractions in the region.

This is now my favourite hotel now in Germany till date, and I have travelled many times. Ofcourse Mittenwald is beautiful and every angle has a breathtaking view, coupled with this hotel being in the city center. In addition, from a product perspective the hotel is excellent. The building and its rooms have a vintage vibe meets modern amenties. Each room has a balcony to allow guests to experience Mittenwald beauty! The breakfast is extensive. There are so many common areas, with different views and vibe (including a fireplace- not switched on when I went in summer). The minibar is included in the price (never seen this before) and all amenities are free (unlike other hotels around). The sauna is divine 😍, from their glass door pool temperature controlled pool to the modern sauna facilities itself. Three sauna rooms plus a relaxation area with swings, comfortable sofas, throws - I could probably stay there. However, what makes this hotel stand out is the service ❤️❤️❤️. There is nothing the staff says no to. They allowed me to use the sauna without hesitation post checkout, because I came back drenched to pick up my stored luggage. They are friendly and always trying to help. In short, my experience is that they really emphasize customer happiness over anything else. I will definitely come back. Special thanks to Rafael, Peter, the ladies at breakfast and the breakfast chef. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

We had two absolutely wonderful days in beautiful Mittenwald. Post Hotel is a fantastic place for stay, great service and good food. We would love to come back another time.

This is a really sweet, well maintained, classic older German hotel. Service, both with email enquiries prior to arrival and during the stay was outstanding. Location is excellent with one entrance opening on to the pedestrian zone and being only a five minute walk from the train station. My single room was comfortable and inviting and super clean. I had a large balcony which was so nice. There was a big soaking tub with a handheld shower but no shower door or curtain. The included mini bar was one bottle each of fizzy water, lemon lime soda and beer. I only drank the water, which was not restocked for my second night. Breakfast was good with a variety of options. There was no a/c but my room stayed remarkably comfortable in spite of the thirty degree temps.

We ordered Mittenwalder schnitzel and goulash from the local game. The schnitzel is very delicious, but the potato is overcooked and tasted bitter. I highly recommend it! But the goulash is not that good… it is super dry… and unfortunately, they is indeed prepared in microwave in their small kitchen, I have to say that the flavor is much better than what you can expect from the microwave. We also tried Mittenwald beer, very good! Maybe because we speak English, so the service was not that good. Atmosphere was okay, just tables were too crowded. But it is cozy.

Finally, we found a truly authentic German restaurant! The food was incredibly tasty — rich in flavor and felt just like a home-cooked meal. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was genuinely kind and attentive. It seems like a family-run place, which adds to the charm. The space is quite small, with only about six tables, so it did feel a bit stuffy at times. Also, the prices are on the higher side — but to be fair, the quality of the food and service made it worth it. We visited with our little child, and everything was comfortable and family-friendly. A hidden gem for anyone who appreciates authentic German cuisine. Highly recommended!

I think it's hard to find a good restaurant with a really tasty schnitzel. Yet this one can satisfied my taste buds as it's sauce is very rich in flavor. Good consistency of the meat and the potato. Everything just explode and melt in your mouth. And everything with reasonable price. Very recommended and definitely will dine here again.

Little, cozy place which makes it so special when you wish to slow down and have something gorgeous to eat. The town itself is absolutely beautiful, but I never expected I could have potato prepared in such an amazing way 😱. Looking for some local delicious specialities? Couldn’t find a better place! Truly masterpiece, big congratulations to the owners and the staff. I’m really glad we got here with my family. And we could enjoy our meal with our little dog 🐕. This was a shock. A very nice shock. I didn't know what to expect, but for such a small place it has a huge atmosphere. The service and food are second to none. Prices a very good too. We were lucky to slip in without a reservation and were very well looked after. Menus in both German and English. We sat inside and it was just like sitting in grandma's dinning room. For us it was just perfect.

This place is very cosy. The lady's who run the place are very sweet. English menu available. Portions were good size. The only thing that slightly let's it down with it being so small most things appear to be cooked in a microwave but that didn't take away from the taste.

Staff was friendly and food was absolutely delicious! Tho it wasn't too crowded but we had to wait a bit for food but that's ok. If I'll ever visit Mittenwald again I'll make sure to visit this restaurant again.

Even though there are enough restaurants in Mittenwald to not eat at the same place for the three nights we stayed here we ate at Osteria three times. The pizza sauce, crust, and cheese were all amazing. The servers were some of the best we had in our time in Germany even with our awful German. The servers even sometimes sang along with the cheery Italian music. I really suggest making sure to get the garlic and chili sauce for the crust.

Far away (!) from the center (appr. 2 minutes walk), nicely located in a quiet place, this restaurant offers delicious local food from Bavaria. The waiters are very friendly and warm; maybe a little outnumbered by the customers. The vegeterian Pfifferling (mushroom) dish was unbelievable, very fresh and nice sauce. The veal was also delicious, but the presentation is a little crowded (big plate, many ingredients, none of an order) The ground is slipping, be careful. We loved this place.

Awesome place! Great food and friendly staff. They were very accommodating when we had to move our seating under and overhang as it started to rain. They have some vegetarian options and some alcohol free beers. Very lovely time here. Certainly recommend!

To make a long story short: amazing place! One of the best the German cuisine we’ve ever tried! Big portions, balanced out taste, no matter what you try you should be completely satisfied! Highly recommend visiting!

What a great dinner. This restaurant has just changed owners. The new owner was very apologetic that he didn’t yet have any English menus but was very happy to go through the menu and translate it for us. I had the Rippchen Rodeo, Ribs, they were fall off the bone tender, juicy and delicious! My wife had the Schnitzel Wiener, a very generous portion and it was also very well cooked and delicious. Both meals were good value for money and washed down with some local Biers. Would definitely recommend Zum Lamm

Easy to get to. Food was fresh and tasty. We had slaw, tomato soup, fried chicken wings, nuggets, etc, and an amazing lamb shank. New owner is friendly and working hard to make this place welcoming and provide satisfying food.

We were returning from Innsbruck on the way to Garmisch via train and stopped in Mittenwald for dinner. I just randomly found this place. The food was great. We started with the caprese salad. 3 huge pieces of buffalo mozzarella. I had the Ossobuco and my wife had the Quatro Formaggi for dinner. also for desert panna cotta and creme brulee which was also delicious. we had several drinks, everything came out to less than 80 euro. After we paid the waiter brought us some Amaretto as an aperitif. Highly recommend if in the area.

Came here for tacos and döner. Terrible mistake. Döner was ok, but since pork and beef is haram or whatever, everything is chicken. Chicken döner is terrible. And the taco, if u can even call it that, was horrendous. Not only was it not a taco but it also tasted like curry, along with the döner and fries we got. For $50, this was insanely terrible. Zero authenticity, zero flavor, and zero respect for tacos — or döner. I’ve been to little hidden döner shops and gotten 40x better for a fraction of the price.

Very nice place to eat. Nice view. We took Doner Plate and Köfte Plate. 2 Mokka Turkish Coffee, so tasty. Backlava I'll not recommend. It taste like butter, old and no walnuts. They need to improve. The rest was everything tasty. I will definitely come again. 😊

Hands Down, one of the best Doner place. The white sauce and cheese were delicious. If you like spicy, ask for orange sauce in the doner OR he will give you on the side. If you are in Mittenwald, MUST try this place. The pizza was also good, just like authentic Italian. Awesome Food!!!

Great Pizza, great Rice! The guy serving was super nice, friendly, answered all our questions. The food was there in no time, and was excellent. Price was OK. We paid under 30 Euros for two people with a drink each, a starter, and a main dish for each person.

We had dinner with my wife, the food was really nice. But when we asked to pay the bill with an Austrian debit card, the responsible person informed us that they accept only German bank cards. Fortunately, we have cash with us, otherwise we might have to clean the dishes. This is unacceptable in a European country. In any case the owner of the restaurant has to inform his guests about that strange policy. Thats why only 2 stars!!!!Sorry " La locanda" :(

Great friendly service, super food. We are three vegans and we had bruschetta for starters and pizza vegetariana for main. Everything was delicious. Red wine is also great. Prices are very friendly. Already went there twice during our stay and will go again.

We had a pretty good experience. The service was quick and the food was definitely good for the price. Perhaps, the waitress is a bit short tempered, while the runner was super kind. I guess that the critics come from people that expect an exceptional service or foreigner new to the Bavarian culture. I recommend the visit if you are on a budget, try your best to speak German and let it go. If not, then try the restaurant next to it. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pics, because I was super hungry.

Hadn't been back in Germany in 28yrs. It was delicious just as I remembered. This was my kids first going to Germany too so this was a nice spot for us to go. Great food great service.

I'm not sure about the not so good review, but we found the schnitzel and hot dog tasty at a reasonable price . The service from the lady is friendly and fast though we don't understand their language .

Sadly, I didn't get a photo of the menu, prices much higher than posted, but relatively cheap. 1/2 chicken was really great. Also got the schnitzel burger and 2 sausage with pretzel. Highly recommend!

What a lovely restaurant, my goodness. I had a lovely meal, it must have been just me and a local dining about an hour before what most would consider lunchtime. The staff were very kind and seemed like friendly folks to speak with. Oh, and since I was visiting in the winter, they had a wonderful Christmas atmosphere and I felt so cozy I didn't want to leave right away.

Food is so salty and not my favorite but its environment is nice. Also, they expect you to pay by cash, give some tips. When you say you want to pay credit card, they will immediately show unwelcome face to you.

The place is incredible. My wife and I were visiting from USA and specifically chose to hike the trails around Mittenwald so that we could visit Ederkanzel and have lunch on the terrace which sits over the Austrian border. Despite the language barrier as I don’t speak fluent German, our service was outstanding and we had delicious schweineschnitzel and wurst with Oktoberfest beer. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

I really wanted to like this place..it had such a high review score and I was starving from doing a long hike. I found the food bland but that wasn't my main issue. The serving size was very small, at least for the Vorspeise. A 2 cm piece of warmed goat cheese and 3 small crackers was 6.50 euros. The bread with garlic butter had 1 piece of bread cut in half with garlic butter on it. Price performance ratio is really poor. Service was amazing and friendly.

It seems to be a family restaurant. The lady that served us was really kind and thoughtful with the recommendations she would give for our baby‘s meal. Every dish we ordered was very tasty - the beef with horseradish sauce and the schnitzel with pumpkin seeds. The atmosphere is very comfortable - feels like home! Thank you for everything!

Good Bavarian food, came out fast, with a wonderful hostess and server. The place was small and plain (but clean) and the menu was limited. The worst part was the smoking section is an enclosed area right outside the front door so smoke came in whenever the door was opened. It got strong at times.

They were also very happy to accomodate alterations (like swapping out a dish on the tapas menu, or serving a starter as an entree).

Very cosy and small restaurant (Chalet interior), modern and good food. The menu is not that big and focusses on fish (hence the name). What is on the menu is really good and they also have a nice wine selection. After a miscommunication with our first reservation (booked a party for 8, got a table for 3, which was according to the chef our fault) we went there with two and had a great meal and nice experience.

Had a great time hiking up to the hut this summer with our 3 kids. The hike took us about 2½ hours. On the way up we met the local donkey and his ram buddies. Got some nice soup and cakes at the hut and stayed the night. We had a great time and LOVED the views!

One of my favorite huts . Located near Mittenwald. Reachable by foot in 1,5-2 hours. Excellent food and stunning views. Usually on Saturdays there is a live band playing music

In this mountain refuge it is possible to eat and relax. Great view of the valley and an attractive donkey that communicates with visitors!

The restaurant is ok. We ordered Chai, Papdi Chat, Dal Tadka, Shahi Paneer and Channa Masala with Naan, Lacha Paratha and Aloo Paratha. It tasted ok. The waiter was trying to be funny but turned out to be a bit annoying. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant unless you can’t find any other place. Not worth the money.

The food was surprisingly super delicious and authentic for an alpine town in Bavaria. The staffs were friendly and attentive. We had garlic Nan, mutton Rogan Josh, dal makhni and chicken saag and all of the dishes were super good.

Its a very good place, if you want to dine in or dine out its a good place , if you go for a dine out you will see the awesome view and a good view of the town and if you dine in thats also good. We ordered chicken soup, chicken tandoori, and tawa paneer it was awesome and delicious and the service was too good there is a guy called ‘ALI’ awesome customer service. ANd if you are Indian and get lucky you might get a special CHAI as a complementary . Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant twice on our trip to Mittenwald recently and absolutely loved the food. I had the spicy mince sausages and rice and my partner had the goulash.The apple strudel was the best we have ever had so if you do visit make sure you leave room for dessert! Friendly waiter and we had excellent service on both occasions.

We had a bad experience at this restaurant. The service is good until we got the table. We wait about 5-10 minute after we said we are ready to order and what happen is very unacceptable. Waiter was going to receive an order the table behind us which is absolutely come after us. And 2nd unacceptable things was after waiter came to receive order at our table with a few confuse to our order because my wife want to order something that not a beaf. With no a little help to us the waiter took off to somewhere else in the middle of our order told us to wait and we wait there for fews minute and decide to leave the restaurant.

The chef is clearly passionate about food - everything is intentional and has a story and reason, and the server (his father) attentively explains each special element. Just as an example, for drinks we asked for a Manhattan, which he wasn’t familiar with, but which he looked up and used his special campari to prepare - ended up being one of the best manhattans we’ve had! Ambiance - we sat out on their front patio near a beautiful fountain, and the umbrella over us sheltered us from the rain. The perfect setting, in my opinion! Service was timely and thoughtful. We just so happened to go to Mittenwald for a day trip and discovered this gem. Nice atmosphere, superb and generous amount of food! Everything we ordered was beautifully presented. After we first saw the food and took the first bite, we knew we had to go back again. We saw the chef walking around twice, also with a big smile on his face, greeting everyone. We could certainly see his passion in the job. We ordered a table for another evening on the spot even though it would mean a more than three hour drive, but we both think it is absolutely worth it. We can’t wait to visit the restaurant again!!!

Horrible waiter/service. There was no one at the restaurant at around 6pm. Literally 0 occupied tabled both indoor and outdoor just two girls who were leaving soon… I went inside to ask for english menus as we sat ourselves outside, he said very rudely, we only accept “reservations” for food, drinks only! One of the best meals we ever had in a beautiful and cosy restaurant with exceptional service by the owner Karin and Felix our waiter. The food is of such good quality and plentiful yet still very good value. The saltimbocca alla Romana and lobster linguini were outstanding and so was the antipasti starter platter and the tiramisu we had for dessert. Also had a very nice bottle of wine. We were seated quickly and the restaurant was not that busy. We ordered drinks and food and got our appetizers after about 15 minutes, but then waited 90 minutes and did not get our entrée so we had to leave. The waitress told us that because the piece of fish my wife had ordered was “so big” it was taking a long time to grill it.🤔 At least they did not charge us for those entrées that were never served to us.

Best stay I had in a while! Wonderful host, I felt like family! We had an incident on the way to the hotel, and the hotel owner came by his car and picked us and our bags. Location is amazing, and the view is spectacular! Thanks Josef. Note: please watch out when using google maps, it took us through the wrong way and we had to ask for emergency help. Stunning lake with restaurants and seating areas around it. I saw plenty of people swimming in it and diving from a diving board. Also the seehof restaurant serves fish caught fresh from the lake.

Was there with my husband yesterday, while walking in the surroundings. Decided to have some beer, and figured out that we have cash for beer only. Then in the restaurant asked the waiter if they accept cards and he confirmed, so we stayed for lunch as well. When it came up to payment it turned out that they do not accept cards and the waiter just does not speak english and that is why did not understand the question. As a result my husband had to rush to Mittenwald, which is 40 minutes away of walking distance. The day was totally ruined. And the bill was only 20 euro!

My 11 years old son and I stayed at Kaertner alm for 7 nights. We enjoyed the perfect view, huge breakfast, very very tasty cuisine, advise of whatever questions... We enjoyed the advantages of the guest cards we were given. The decoration of the hotel is fantastic, we loved anything. But we will never forget that the owner of the hotel helped us so much by driving for a long distance to get us to the train station, due to train stations problems. He is so kind, polite and funny.
